Hi! I just want to follow up on my move out from the public storage space which was scheduled last 3/21/2026 at Elgin, Illinois. However, it was still active when I checked on the public storage online app and at the same time that there's also a scheduled payment this coming April 1, 2026. That's why, I set a different date on the public storage online app to move out today 3/29/2026 but unfortunately that I got a notification from the public storage app that my next payment will be on 5/1/2026 eventhough I already paid the rent payment which will due on 4/1/2026. My question is, when will be my last payment given that I already scheduled a move out date last 3/21/2026 but unfortunately my account was still active as it appears on the public storage app. And because of that, that I set another move out date which is today 3/29/2026 but here again that I got a notification that there's a scheduled payment on 5/1/2026. I need clarification about this matter about my final and last payment following my decision to move out last 3/21/2026- that's the date that I entered on the app to move out but the public storage app indicates that account was still active until today. And I was pressured today to set another date (3/29/2026) to move out from the public storage. Please help me to put my account inactive since I already set two different dates to move out, the first date was 3/21/2026 and the second one which is today, 3/29/2026. read more

I have never had a more pleasant experience dealing with the staff at a public storage facility. Paula is an absolute treasure and is the sole reason I will be doing business with this location. She has been so friendly, helpful, compassionate, and easy to talk to. During my time here, I witnessed Paula effectively managing several issues at once. Not only did she do a great job dealing with customers while the computer systems were rebooting and updating, but she also ensured everyone was well taken care of and left happily. Not only did she excel in customer service, but she also was cleaning the facility and ensuring the safety of us and our belongings. I highly recommend this facility for this reason. I can rest easy knowing that someone like her is there watching over the facility. It makes doing business here worth every penny. read more

I don't usually take the time to write reviews but need to here. Paula, her daughter, and staff at the location on Steel Street are simply wonderful! We had a situation where a family member had rented space there in Elgin. The family member had many problems and issues, and passed away suddenly without any forwarding information. Paula went way out of her way to find next of kin, which took some time and skill on her part. It would have been much easier for her to toss everything in a dumpster but she went the extra mile, something we are very grateful for. She is the best! read more

Staff is nice, but our unit on the 2nd floor was not. This Public Storage on Steal St. has a long-term leaky roof. We told them and they had someone seal the outside roof, but unfortunately, this was not enough to fix the problem. We later found out from another customer that the problem has been more chronic than we realized dating back over 4 yrs ago. Don't use this place for sentimental things. There were always problems with the lights for the 2 years we had the unit. We often found packets of rat poison tossed on our belongings (better than rats though), and their definition of "climate control" for the summer just means they run fans (not AC) so most of our stuff was exposed to 80-90 degree humid temps. Overall a disappointing experience and I would definitely not advise friends to go here. read more

Whenever I need storage I've always used public storage no matter what location always friendly staff.

The elevator has been broken for the past 2 1/2 weeks making it impossible to access and retrieve my heavy items from my storage unit... I'd cancel today if I had the strength to carry my items down the stairs. On 12-23-2023 Irene rented me a storage unit, I was told that when I purchased one month I would get February free and on February 4th pay the $15.00 for the insurance. She sold me a lock for $19.99 and didn't tell me that if I returned the lock within 7 days and used my lock I would get a refund. I received an email stating that I owe $198.00 on 1 February. I went back and spoke to an employee and she had no clue why I didn't receive the promotion and that I would have to speak to Irene. I went back and spoke to Irene and she had no clue as to why I didn't receive the promotion and told me to call customer service when I called and spoke with Celeste she said that Irene should have not told me to call customer service and that she noted everything I said and I would have to wait for a higher up manager call me back. No one called me back and I got stuck paying for February's rent. I am not happy with Public Storage at 665 Big Timber Road, Elgin, IL 60123. I will never use them again and I will tell my friends not to use them again. I will contact Better Business Bureau about this. Just let me know by email if I am getting a refund read more

This Public storage is awful. I should've never left the one I was previously at! Huge empty dumpster and can't use it for tossing some stuff out. District Manager is a joke, won't get back to you if any questions. I'm leaving there's better places out there! read more

After booking we were sent detailed emails about the process and before check-in the property manager had already called to make sure all was well. I like: the individual gate codes, clean facility, nice carts to move our stuff, plus efficient elevators. read more

Paula was great! Personable & very helpful. I accidentally signed up online for a different location, but she quickly corrected things. No hassle at all! I really appreciated that she took the time to show us the room, carts available for use, & explained in detail exactly what we were signing up for. do not be fooled about these damn reviews they have people right a good review about them when they are signing up ,they say give them 5 stars when they are bs like really . i called paula she explained over the phone what needed to be paid i paid it then a week later i get over charged with all of these fees so from may 1st til today i owe over 200 dollars on my account for only one month when the rental was only 35 a month they are fullof sh*t i would never go back to this location its garbage and the elevator sucks and there barley cameras so how do you even feel safe i feel like this was a whole rip off i dont even know why this place is still in business i hope u guys dont experience what i did atleast ask for full information b4 signing up so u wont get ripped off f*ck this place broke ass people read more

The location is great and the people of wonderful! The issue I have with Public Storage is that their rates will go up by 10-12% EVERY year. Be prepared to get priced out of your unit in a very short timeframe. When I attempted to contact their corporate office and talk to someone about renegotiating the rate...I could not talk to someone in person. I sent an email asking that someone call me...and the district manager called me with NO solution! He indicated that my only option to reduce my price is to move in to a smaller storage unit! Public storage knows that no one wants to move their items once they are in storage...so they will continue to jack up the price! Beware!!!! read more

Paula is a breath of fresh air! I have used storage facilities in the past and have never experienced such great customer service.
