Basic outside storage units, the big draw back is 27+% increase in rent annually. They will "lower your rate back for 3 months".

I've had a unit at this location for over 2 years now. I recently spoke with the new property manager and it was such a positive change from the past. She answered the phone the first time (which other property managers did not) and was very friendly and helpful. I called about the rate increase of my unit and we were able to keep my same rate for the time being. I really appreciated her help in this matter. read more

MY EPIC REVIEW: From Amy S. Woodridge, IL (subject: That is 17 TOTAL phone calls to the BOTH of THEM! So that is two of your company employees who obviously disregarded my messages as if I am not an important enough long-term paying customer!) It is rude, and I am appalled that your company hired such employees to not return one stinkin' call! This email message is concerning a few things. One being; a matter of lacking professionalism and lack of respect I received as a long-term paying, quote: "valued customer" as your voice recording states. Secondly; I am moving my property November 30th Tuesday and giving another company my business. The problem: I rent a 5 x 10 storage unit #1464 located in Lisle IL on Ogden Ave. First, way back in June, I received another notice of a rent increase of $83.00 for the small space of a 5 x 10. When I first signed up to rent this unit it was at $42.00 and then kept increasing and increasing, then jumped to $83.00. My parents and to our dismay, that high amount was outrageous! I ever since the end of June for at least a good few months persisted to call Public storage about this matter. I contacted your corporate headquarters and was given the name Tom Menard at 707-595-8472 x 3477 to speak with about my concern about this outrageous price increase! You see, my situation is, my dad had a stroke in June, and he was the one currently paying the rent, and I was out of work for a while, so I seriously needed to speak with someone higher up who may be of some assistance and to not incur late fees while I figure out my strategy to pay the storage rent. I called and called but NO response to my message as a quote: "valued customer" according to Tom's voice recording. So much for that customer appreciation policy, it is B.S! I called back to speak with customer service and then the girl this time gave me a direct number to Jonathon Pottorff at 630-914-6991 x 3464. I then continued to call Jonathon to discuss this matter. Once again, NO CALLBACK! NOW Mind you, I left Tom Menard 10 messages and Jonathon Pottorff 7 messages over the course of a few months! That is 17 TOTAL phone calls to the BOTH of THEM! So that is two of your company employees who obviously disregarded my messages as if I am not an important enough long-term paying customer. It is rude, and I am appalled that your company hired such employees to not return one stinkin' call! Maybe ALL I wanted was for someone who cares to at least RESPOND and simply CALL ME BACK! Maybe they couldn't do anything for me. I find it so darn unprofessional and inconsiderate that they chose to show such a lack of respect and obviously disregard my intentions to work this out if I could because of my dad's health situation. Even if it couldn't, I deserved a simple call BACK REGARDLESS!  I will not use Public storage ever again. As far as the unit goes, it was fine. My problem is the rate increases.......Two $40.00 rate increases within nine months...... Ridiculous. Moved my stuff into a different facility that is climate controlled for 1/3 of the price. read more

Challenge in trying to reach any on site mgr. this location doesn't have one. When I drove to the location where a property mgr was supposed to be I had to wait over an hour. The unit I rented was dirty, smelled of grease and old car gas. The floor was stained with oil as if a car leaked all over the floor. They could of power washed it but didn't. The only light in the unit was not working either bulb is still burned out. Expensive read more

Drove 2.5 hours from Champaign in the middle of a tornado warning. Luckily the Public Storage location was convenient and easy to use. Just popped in the gate code, found my locker, and unloaded my U-Haul. Had a bit of an issue opening the locker (they have a blue tag on the door, you have to pull that off and pull the lock to the left in order to open the door) but quickly figured out the issue. All-in-all had an easy time with Public Storage. read more

I fully explained to the person doing the reservation process that I had household goods from a one bedroom apartment. I provided a detailed description of what i had. I requested a 10x10 unit. This individual said that one was not available but they had a 5x15. I questioned if it was big enough. I was told it was. When I got to storage unit, it was a 5x9. This unit would have only held a small fraction of what I had load in my moving box vehicle. Then the frustration really set in. Because I was an existing customer, their computer recognized my number and refused to direct me to a human contact. read more

Wrongfully charged a past due balance and a late fee. I'm a new customer and 3 days after moving in your company was trying to charge me for a 1 day fee which should have been covered upfront when I paid the initial fee reserving the space. Contacted customer support via your website with no response for weeks and by the time I was contacted it was too late and the rep that called me couldn't do anything but tell me to call customer support. When I called, the rep couldn't help me either and sent me to a supervisor where I was sent into a voicemail system and didn't receive a call back. I couldn't wait any longer so I paid the balance reluctantly as I didn't want my space to have a lean placed on it. As of today I have still not received any response or call back. This has been a very unpleasant experience which leaves me to doubt my selection in utilizing Public Storage moving forward and in the future. Update....it's been a week since I asked for a supervisor to call me back and still nothing heard from them. Very disappointing. read more

Originally had reserved a unit across at the U-Store-It across the street. After having a horrible customer service experience there I called this place since it was right across the street. The experience was much better. I was able to reserve online and immediately stop in to finish the paper work and begin moving stuff in. It took less than 15 minutes. I love Ryan at the location. He is very friendly and remembers my name and unit number when I stop in the pay my bill. What is interesting my unit is not at the location and I stop on there maybe three times per year. But Ryan still addresses me by my name. Nice! read more

Went in on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend - Chelsea was working alone and things got busy very quickly. She took 3 or us out to see our units and managed our paperwork so all finished quickly. The process was painless and she was extremely helpful. I've rented from another PS location before so was familiar with the process but still she made is painless and I was able to get back to all the work I have to do before moving. I really did not hear the talk about the locks and that really makes me upset I will never use Public Storage again and I would never tell any to rent from them again. Also the front gate has been open for the last 10 days how secure is that. read more

Have you met Ryan? This guy is a star! I reserved a unit and upon inspection I discovered that an interior light was not working. Ryan apologized and promised to get back to me within 2 days max once light is fixed. He delivered as he promised. He even sold me some boxes at a discounted rate so that I saved money and a trip to a hardware store. Thank you, Ryan for your friendliness, great customer service and professional attitude!
