This review and decision to move out and discontinue all business effective next day with Public Storage is in response to how I was treated and talked to today by Monique at this location. I have never had issues with Public Storage in the past and this location was no different. Was happy with accommodations made for me, previously. Today, I was moving around things between home and storage and came across an old metal shelving unit in my storage garage. My truck bed was already full with items so I was not able to drive up to the garbage area with it loaded. In a hurry to avoid the rain, I quickly carried the shelf around the first row of garages and left it near the garbage to circle back with Monique to discuss if leaving it there was an option this one time. After quickly returning to my truck to grab the rest of my things, Monique came around the corner and in a very rude and charged manor, approached me with the very first question of whether or not I was moving out. Then on to the shelf being left near the garbage, then quickly scolding me for leaving it there. I was interrupted several times by Monique and not given the opportunity to even speak or explain my intention to ask her about the shelf after I was finished loading my backseats. Monique was incredibly rude, inconsiderate of the situation, and was too focused on the posted signage than to listen to a long term customer across Public Storage locations on what the situation was and what my intentions were knowing the rules already. I will be moving all of my belongings from this location and going elsewhere. Highly recommend staying away from this location in particular. 1 star is generous after today's interaction. Not to mention price increases every 3 months that have to be 'fought against'. read more

I have been using the Public Storage at this location for the past couple of years and the service levels have gotten worse and worse every year. Today, I went to move from my 5x5 space to a 10x20. I reserved the 10x20 to move to a little over a week ago. When reserving the space online the system did not allow me to pick the space that I saw. automatically put me in a different space. When I get there to move in today, nothing had been shoveled and the automatic door opener was not working for the gate. The attendant was coming out during this process. I told what I was there for and he had quite the attitude because he stated he was about to leave It was 11:39pm. Leaving already. There is never anyone there. Then dealing with him was terrible as there was no customer service. He was aware of my situation. He asked me to retrieve the lock from the storage space that was initially held for me and bring it back because he had to leave. Well that started a entirely different issue. The storage space was in the D building all the way in rear of the facility. Well they have not cleared any of the snow. So it was challenging to get to the space. I go get the lock and put the lock on my new unit. As I was heading back to the office my 2022 Mercedes got stuck on the incline of the driving path heading back to the office. The snow was so high and slippery that my SUV slid into the fence. Luckily the tire of the car stopped me from hitting the fence. I had to call a tow service to get me out. The attendant left me there after providing with some salt and a little assistance with his shovel. He left after 30 minutes. There were other customers that were having challenges driving to their units. One car almost slid into my car. The tow truck came after two hours and he also was sliding and had challenges getting out. They are trying to charge me for the extra time being in the 5x5. NOT HAPPENING! The issue is there is no customer service at this facility nor do they care. I will be reaching out to corporate as I have a 5x5 that I still needed to move out of today. However, I could not because I needed my SUV to get the items from one unit to the next. I could not run the risk of getting stuck again. There people complaining of the challenges they had. I started to inform customers to not risk getting stuck trying to get to their facility. This is all on the video cameras that they have. Absolute unacceptable! read more

Customer service has not been great, as I've seen in other reviews. More importantly, the costs have gotten out of hand. I understand a little increase each year but from $95 to $225 in 3 years is crazy. They sucker you with a decent price and then gouge you once you're in. read more

Do not use public storage at roselle. They cut the locks off of my storage unit because the rent was 2 weeks late. They threatened to auction my stuff. When I called them, they were not available. read more

"I need you moved out by the end of the month." Oh, the dreaded words I heard a little less than two weeks until the end of the month. I needed to get all my accumulated crap out of the apartment fast! Luckily Public Storage had some space available and their $1 first month rent deal. I made a reservation online for a 5x10 unit and secured it for $66/mo, including the mandatory insurance cost. Surprisingly the larger one was cheaper than the 5x8. The moving of my stuff to their location went as smoothly as I could have hoped for. They called to confirm the reservation and had me all signed up in less than an hour. I started bringing furniture and boxes the next day and was able to do it both before and after work with their convenient gate hours of 6am-9pm. They've even called to check up on me since getting everything situated. It's nice to feel cared for. My only two complaints are that the units don't seem as tightly sealed as they could be. I think they allow space for water to drain in case any happens to get into the unit or as part of the gutter system. It's by no means a climate controlled space, but I do worry about it slightly. We'll see what happens. The other thing I noticed is that there don't seem to be any security camera. I guess that's what the insurance is for, right? read more

We were moving from multiple places to multiple cities. We needed a bunch of storage. We chose public storage because they are nationwide and had the space to accommodate us. We have 3 - 10 X 30 spaces and a outdoor parking spot for a trailer. Leslie has made it convenient. We have our spaces right next to one another and the were clean before we moved in. So far our time there has been enjoyable and easy. The property is secure and well maintained. I also have units in Denver Colorado and have had the same experience there. I would highly recommend Public Storage for you personal storage needs. read more

Becky the property manager is great!!! She was willing to help me as much as she can , but talking to the DM "Joe" was a joke. He can not doing anything to help me either. When I stopped in to inquire about a rental space, I was given a quote ($60) that seemed very reasonable. It was my first stop, so I didn't have any basis for comparison, but I didn't feel the need to look further. I was concerned about it being a "teaser" rate, and I asked the girl (Shelley) if it would go up after a couple months. She ASSURED me that it would not ... that such rate increases almost never happen, or at least not for a long time. (Other than that, my experiences with the employees has been ok .... It's the company's sleazy business tactics that is the real problem.) Well a couple months later it went up OVER 50% !!! It has gone up again since then. My bills are now double what they were at first. I had to rent a truck to get my furniture and get a friend to help me .... costing me time and money and him time. So they know they've got you in terms of the cost and difficulty of moving to a competitor. Then my bank got bought by MB Bank and my card on record for monthly autopayment was voided. Ka-ching !!! $20 late fee because the payment wasn't on time. They don't send you reminder emails telling you your payment is coming due. They wait until after it's late and send you threatening emails with $20 late fees. It gets better (worse) .... in addition to sending threatening (sell all your stuff) emails the minute you are late, they prevent you from accessing your locker by blocking your access code at the main entrance. (You have to key numbers in to open the gate.) That I can understand. But on top of that, they cut your lock(s) and replace them with their own. Then they don't let you keep your stuff in there unless you buy one of THEIR locks .... for $21. Even though the bolt on each locker has slots for two locks, when they want to lock you out, they don't just cut one and put one of theirs on. No ... they destroy BOTH of your locks. I've read several other reviews on here about them jacking the monthly rates, plus damage, theft, and maybe other complaints. But they get pushed way down the list by all these rosy company-written reviews. Seriously ... Who takes the time to log on here to write a review unless there's a problem??? We'd all be writing reviews all day if we wrote one on here every time we got good service at every restaurant or service establishment we visited. Bottom line ... avoid this place like the plague !!! read more

We needed a storage unit for a very short time period. I chose Public Storage because they had large drive-up lockers that would be easily accessible to our movers. We initially secured a very large 10 x 30 unit that would have cost around $300/month (not including initial fees/insurance/lock cost, etc). When we toured the locker, Leslie suggested we look at the next size down, 10 x 20, as that unit had a $1 first month special. We ended up going with the 10 x 20 and it was less than $60 for the 3 1/2 weeks we rented ($1 rental, insurance, lock and admin fee). Thanks to Leslie's suggestion, we saved a lot of money!! The unit we rented was clean and the property was secure. I have no complaints about our time there and if I needed to rent a storage unit again in the future, I would definitely choose Public Storage. read more

When we ended up selling our house while out of the country on s two week vacation we were left with ten days to move out of a 5 bedroom house and our new home wasn't going to be ready for five days. We needed a place to put all the things that we were not having the movers take. Public Storage was right down the street and worked perfectly for us to move a bunch of the items we didn't have time to sort through and decide if we had a place for at the new home. Mary worked with us to down size our unit once we had taken what we wanted and what we ended up donating, saving us money and our sanity. read more

Everything seemed OK at first. I had my stuff after a hasty forced move in a 8x16 800-PACK-RAT container. They were charging $200/month ($2400/year), plus you had to schedule access 48 hours in advance. I was shopping for a cheaper place and this was the second place I came to. (The first place - the attendant was on a social call and ignored me for several minutes so I left.) Bottom line though .... very dissatisfied. When I rented, I thought I got a decent deal. Ashley tried to upcharge me for things like mandatory renters insurance ($15/mo. if you don't already have it). But I signed the contract for $60/month for a 10x14 indoor access only space. (No exterior garage door access.) I initially voiced my concern that this was some promo rate that would get bumped after 3 or 6 months. Ashley assured me this was not some promotional rate that would go up after a few months, and it would be fixed indefinitely. She clearly implied it would probably never go up, unless something really unexpected happened.. like that sort of thing never happens. Moving all my stuff in was an all day project with my teenage son to move everything from my "pod" to this place, plus a few hundred dollars to rent a big U-Haul truck for the day. Less then six months later, I get a card in the mail informing me that my $60 rental rate has been increased to $92/month ... over a 50% increase !!!! Then I read others on here who have had the same thing happen to them. It's clear this is a business that considers lying to potential customers just standard operating procedure. They are banking on the fact that moving is too much of a hassle, and people will just pay the increase. This place should be shut down for unethical business practices! Now I have to rent a truck AGAIN .... and my son and I have to take another full day AGAIN ... and work our tails off AGAIN .... because I was TOTALLY MISLED if not blatantly lied to by this shady outfit. read more

Reserved the 5 x 5 unit, and for the price, its an OK deal. The facility seems a bit old by appearance but hey...... "we don't use storage facilities for how nice they look on the outside, or do we?" Nonetheless, the front office agent (Ashley) was informative, courteous and pleasant. PROS: * Informative, courteous and pleasant staff. * Decent rates. * Various unit sizes to meet most needs. On Christmas day we went to our storage unit to put in some recently received Christmas presents. Once we reached our unit we found our lock was gone and replaced with one that wasn't ours. To make a long story short, our locker had been broken into two weeks early and we were never notified. A Public Storage employee had put their lock on it and never informed us of the break in. When I called Joe their district manager his answer was that the never noticed it in their daily "lock check". What's funny about this is, two days later we went to look further into our locker to see what was missing and just a couple lockers down was another unit with a cut lock. Clear as can be. We spoke with the police officer handling our case a couple of days later and found out that they are still getting phone calls from tenants with broken into units. She also informed us that this is the second break in they have had in 6 months. The management at this location does not want to take ANY responsibility for their lack notifying us. Needless to say we have since left the unit and moved into a much more secured space. U-Store it in Carol Stream. I called Joe the district manager to let him know about the cut lock we found and of course I never got a call back. It's a good thing I called the police first. I WOULD NEVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE!!!! THEIR LACK OF SECURITY AND TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT IS UNBELIEVABLE. I have emailed upper management at Public Storage but have yet to get a call back. Big shocker! RENTERS BEWARE!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS FACILITY, THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO SECURITY. YOUR ITEMS ARE NOT SAFE HERE!!!!!! read more

Horrible place! They started out at $72 / month and raised the rates now to $107. The place is run down. The door to the unit is hard to open. This place is not well maintained and it is poorly managed. Can't wait to pull my stuff out of this garbage dump. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.....not even to put trash in. read more
