This is the worst experience I've had with a storage facility. The proderty manager is rarely in the office or on site. The elevators for the 2nd level storage units, air conditioned which you pay a premium for have been out of service for over a week. I have escalated this to management and requested that they contact me to inform me when they were repaired...to date NO ONE has had the courtesy to contact me. I was duped the minute I called. Was told I had a unit right off the elevator and it was a basement unit. Was not at all a basement unit it was a second-floor unit and it was nowhere near an elevator. There are no lights inside the unit so it's pitch dark. They are dusty and dirty and they're not air-conditioned. You are out after 9 PM. Yes nobody informed me of this when I made the reservation and purchased the unit north and they tell me the hours of operation. So if you're inside and it's after 9 PM your car is locked in all night until they open again at 6am. This happened during the middle of my movers, of which I was paying by the hour. Because they locked everything down at 9 PM I had to leave my stuff inside the moving truck overnight and pay another $600 the next day to continue moving the rest of my furniture into my unit. They also never told me what letter of the building which my unit was in. All they said was the unit number. So I had to spend an hour hiking stairs within each building because nothing was clearly labeled to find my unit. A simple for our move of approximately $600, and is up costing me $1500 because of the storage unit issue!!! I would absolutely never recommend this place to anybody and besides that it cost a ton of money and not worth the value at all for what you get!!! In addition they never told me I was required to have rental insurance and so now I'm paying an extra $15 a month costing me over $200 a month for a 10 x 10 that is a crap hole, with minimal access hours!!! read more

I would NEVER use this company/location for any long term rentals. I rented a 20x10 space in FEB 2022 and after just 3 months they tried to raise my rent from $330 to $475. They backed off when I went after them but after 4 months, they went at it again. I moved out and found U-Haul $225 cheaper with no concern of increasing rates in the following six months. Do NOT rent from Public Storage unless you have an iron clad contract that will not increase your rates. read more

Public storage on desert cove in Scottsdale is hands down the best! Anna was so attentive, kind and made our move so seemless!

I went online to rent a 5x15 space on the 1st floor. It was confirmed and I got my access code and space # listed as on 1 st floor. After an hour of searching the building n calling 3 times with no reply ,and getting locked in the staircase ,we went to the other hare(exit only), when the staff came out after seeing us looking through the gate. So the space is actually in the 3rd floor( big difference)! The office was "We're open", but no one is there n no one answers the phone. This may be an isolated incident but written instructions should be correct! read more

I had to move out due to the unbelievable increase in cost. I find a $100 increase unacceptable. I also find difficult communicate with the property manager due to the fact that the office is usually locked up even during regular business hours when's supposed to be open to the public. I understand that he may be onsite, however that happened to me ALL THE TIME I needed assistance... One word of caution to prospective clients: Do NOT rent units with the keyed lock that inserts inside the door. Get one with the traditional round storage lock that you hang outside the door. I had accidentally lost my keys and they do not offer any locksmith services. If you have to crack open a round lock hanging on the door it's a lot easier than cracking open an interior one. That said, the interior ones are safer....just don't misplace the key! Because if you do, you pay blood, like I did :( read more

Without a doubt the worst storage location I have ever dealt with. Lifts don't work properly and are in very poor condition. They charged me a late fee after I was thoughtful enough to call and let them know I would not be vacating the unit and to charge me for another month. On site employees are incapable of helping you in anyway and the call center employees are some of the rudest I have ever spoke to. I would never ever use this storage facility again. I wish I could have given them lower then a 1. Stay clear everyone! read more

This company uses pretty shady practices to eek out more money from customers. 6 months after opening my storage unit, which I opened in part due to the pricing they were offering, they raised my rent by 20%. On top of that, when I went to schedule my move out date, they disabled my auto pay for my last month's rent and then charged me a $54 late fee 8 days after payment was due, with no advance notification that my account was unpaid. I called immediately after being notified that my account was past due (which only happened because the auto pay got shut off) and when I asked for the late fee to be removed, I was told that if I didn't pay it now they would lock me out of my storage unit. Next time I'll use a different company. I don't appreciate this kind of stuff. read more

They give u The wrong space amount I had a four bedroom house and we're all can fit in one big unit they gave me and made me get four units to where I'm paying astronomical amount of money I called the district manager three times and he never called me back. I have had an incredible experience with this Public Storage location and Bill who assisted me in the process. Bill was attentive, friendly, genuine and informative during this entire process. I have been in the process of moving my Mother here from another state into assisted living and it has been extremely stressful but working with Bill was such a positive experience and made the end of this process so much easier. I appreciate that he took the time to answer my questions in detail and go through the details of the units available and providing suggestions to ease the unpacking process. This is the worst location. My fees used to be reasonable however that recently went up by $50 a month. I'm not unreasonable and I understand inflation. I have used my debit card as my method of payment but they screwed my debit card up in May so I then re-entered my checking account information. This seemed to work fine for June however in July they claim that my funds were returned by my bank. I called Wells Fargo and they confirmed I had plenty of money in my account to cover my storage fee. Then they waited until July 8th to reprocess my payment. That payment went through just fine. They then charged me a $25 fee. My bank advised the merchant is the party who puts the payments though. I have it set up to be taken out prior to the 1st (my due date). Why they waited so long is unbeknownst to me. They claim it is my fault somehow and my bank confirmed that I have plenty of funds and that is the merchants fault. Now I had to file a claim with my bank to collect the fees they charged me because their customer service would not help me. This is the 2nd time they have done this. The first time they couldn't process my debit card for some reason... now they can't process my bank account information? I'm definitely getting my items out of this storage facility this weekend. I would not recommend them. They are incompetent. read more

The constant raising rates are crazy. It may or may not be in the contract. But common courtesy would be giving notice of rate increases. If they are capable of sending out the bills then they are capable of sending notice of increase. read more

Moved out of one unit. Online instructions said to go to office and complete paperwork with property manager. What a joke!! Just as when moved in and no one around to assist, office is actually closed despite open hours listed on door and on voicemail message on manager's phone number. Calls to general number on website get auto rerouted to same nonexistent property manager's phone. What a run around. Had to call corporate offices to get a live person who said no paperwork necessary. So wish I had not rented at this facility. Continues to be horrible experience. DONT RENT HERE!!! read more

I moved in today and was very pleased with the unit, its location and the helpful staff.

First off, let me say that if it were first impressions, this place would get 6 stars. The manager, (her name is escaping me) was very professional, courteous, and seemed to know EXACTLY everything about her property. She was training another girl in there as I had my tour, etc. I decided on a unit and was told it was the last one and I needed to buy it now, as it would be gone ASAP. I didn't need it for a few weeks, but decided to go ahead and do it as it seemed like a great deal. Most of the way through the paperwork she told me that I had to take the insurance they offered. I told her that my renters policy told me that I would be covered and she didn't care. She basically MADE me accept it and told me that if I came the next day after I verified that I did have my own coverage, she could cancel it. She told me that she needed me to take it for "audit" reasons and she had to have a signed contract....which I think is TOTAL BS!!!!! She then explained the hours, gate hours, etc. I came the following week in the evening to bring a load. Was mortified when I got there and there were NO outside lights AT ALL. There were timer switches, but the lights wouldn't come on outside. Pissed and a little scared quite frankly, I decided to go ahead and unload my stuff in the dark. The next day I showed up during working hours to cancel my "mandatory insurance" and to let them know the lights weren't working. She proceeded to tell me that I could cancel the insurance, but I wasn't getting a refund. (I had paid for 7 weeks of it) I was furious. I then told her about the lights and her response was, "yea, the storm blew out the switches and corporate won't get us the necessary equipment to fix." WTF?? I got pretty snippy with her and expressed my discontent over the situation and the friendly courteous manager got even MORE snippy with me right back. She didn't apologize for the miscommunication, she didn't apologize for having a freaking property with no lights, she just plain got pissy with me. EPIC FAIL Ms. Public Storage. Don't suck the customers in with kindness and then kick them in the butt once you have their money...not cool!!! read more

THIS IS A FRAUDULENT COMPANY. I rented a 5 x 15 unit in 2014 for $110/month including all fees. They have increased my rate to $150/month. When I asked about the ridiculous increase, the store clerk said it was the going market rate and there was nothing he could do. They are advertising online the same unit for $80/month. They will not reduce my rate unless I vacate the unit for 7 days. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. THEY WILL RAISE YOUR RATE WITH IMPUNITY AND YOU WILL HAVE ZERO RECOURSE EXCEPT TO PAY MOVERS AND CHANGE COMPANIES. read more

When I rented the space I was told I was required to buy their insurance, which is completely false. They were adamant that my personal renter's insurance was not sufficient. B.S. Renting for just a short time (since early July) at the Scottsdale Desert Cove location, and it's been a great experience so far. Staff is friendly and helpful, the unit is clean and easily accessible and they are enforcing COVID social distancing in the office area. I rented a storage space online. The quote was $110 a month for a 10x15. I reserved it. A few days before move in, I went to the location to make sure it was the right size and all my paperwork was correct. The manager accidentally cancelled that unit and NO ONE including the district manager could get it back for the same price!! The new price was $211. I had to settle for a 10x 10 unit for $134 a month bc I needed to move my stuff right away. I took the auto pay off of my online payment bc the district manager was supposed to fix this error... I haven't heard from him yet, but he sure wanted The manager to call me right away when I took the auto pay of, to see if I was moving out. Im waiting to see if the district manager will honor his word or is this just an online reservation scam? The district manager has my paperwork to proceed with a correction of this mess!! Be careful with your online reservations with Public Storage.. so far it looks like a bait and switch!! read more

If I could give this place less than one star I certainly would! My son and I had two outdoor units reserved but yet when we got there on the move-in day we were told there were no units outside available. First the guy that was working there that day was going to compensate us by giving us two outdoor units that were larger than the ones in our reservation. When he realized how large our moving truck was he said the truck would not be able to maneuver inside the gate to get to those lockers. This wasn't true to my situation because my movers transferred the stuff from the large truck to a smaller truck anyway to bring the stuff inside. We were given two inside units that one was the same size and one was 5 feet larger however I AM DISABLED AND THE INCONVENIENCE OF GOING INSIDE VERSUS A SIMPLE DRIVE UP TO ACCESS MY BELONGINGS IS HORRIBLE‼ I'm so angry just thinking of any time I need to go into my storage I need to deal with walking inside walking up the hall and then whatever belongings I want to take with me I need to figure out how I'm going to get it to my car each and every time‼ This is so ridiculous and after reading other peoples reviews I'm kicking myself that I didn't check the reviews before I chose this location. Something needs to be done to compensate me because here I am again getting ready to make my payment but yet I'm making the payment on two units I did not want. I realize I could've easily not taken the units and gone to a different place or even a different company however I was not told about this until I arrived and my moving truck was already there. Yelp map sends you to wrong address. Mandatory insurance is required. If this was on the website it was in the fine print. $1 for first month is misleading. Had to buy their lock for $18 because I didn't have my own and was told my empty unit had to be locked before I could rent it. Between admin fees, locks, and insurance total move in was over $50. Don't bother! Information is not always explained (maybe in that little fine print that one doesn't see until it is too late.) Like the fact that if one moves out prior to the 6th of the month, one MAY get a refund; if one moves out on the 7th, one is out of luck! Even if one paid his/her bill a month early. Who knew????? They now have about $300.00 of my retirement fund. Most of the time the employees were fairly nice, but one gets interrupted a lot - not the best CUSTOMER SERVICE. The manager was very professional and helpful. I told her my homeowner's insurance covered the storage space, and she was fine with that. I have not been there at night yet (and don't really intend to be in the future), but the interior lights are on a motion detector and worked perfectly while we brought in our first load. The renting process was easy and the deal was terrific. Also an excellent location for me. I would recommend, based upon my limited experience so far. read more

This is a very nice property and the people are great. It is very convenient. Right of the 101 highway. However, it is VERY dark in the evening. It is not well lit at all. My unit is on the ground level, and just past the office, but I was surprised at how poorly lit it is. Very off putting. WARNING: The company displays a sign on the counter that they care. The only thing this company cares about is your money.. Locks and Insnsurace are a scam. Bring your own disc lock from walmart or home depot and save your money. Check with you home or renters insurance before you rent or they will force you to buy there's. If some thing needs to be repaired on the property or with your unit it can take months... Plan on having your rent increased every couple of months.. Don't fall for there express check in.. If you don't need the unit the computer will charge your credit card and you will not get your money back... There are better storage compaines out there that will take care of your needs.... HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! I specificly asked the manager (Nicki) if my couch set would fit in the elevator and the door of my unit prior to accepting it. She said " I've seen all kinds of large couch sets fit in the elevator and unit door with no problem". My couch set is average size FYI. Taking her for her WORD I accepted that unit. The next day I had my movers move my property to the unit, it wasnt even close to fitting in the elevator. So my movers took the set up the stairs and it wouldnt fit in the unit door. She drove by on a golf cart, I stopped her and reminded her of our conversation the day before specificly regarding the couch set. She didnt give a crap and drove off.
