Didn't even have my storage unit for 6 months and the price jumped nearly $100 more per month. The day I was moving in, there was another customer there and he "warned me" that they did this. I didn't really think it could double in price and just forgot about it. Well, 4 months in I just got the renewal and sure enough it doubled in price. I'm now pulling my items out and going to another more reliable place. Wouldn't use this co. again after this experience. I understand prices fluctuate etc. but to double in price after 4 months in offensive. read more

I can't imagine anyone giving this place 4 stars. If I was rating Heather she would get 4 stars and she tried so hard us, but after 20 years we pulled out today. we went in with a few questions about our bill. MY credit card is on file and pays the bills but both my partner and I are on the lease. and so the nightmare begins. And again I want it noted Heather was amazing and really tried to help, you should think of moving her up in the company and getting the people in corp to clean the storage area. The bill had gone up a lot and I just wanted to talk to someone. Heather gave us a number to call and it was one stupid moron after another on the other end. One idiot won't talk to me because I was not Bob the other guy on the lease, I told her he passed away 3 years ago, she said sorry for your lost and hung up on me. The next person I called to speak to sat in dead silence when I told her I wanted to talk to someone about my Bill, she said can I talk to Bob, I said Bob is dead, and I heard dead silence on the other end. another time I sat on hold for over 45mins, the end result pulled out of there today and moved to a new place down the block. read more

this public storage is good for 3 months. If you get over, they raise price at will. I had my storage there for three years, from 120 something all the way to three hundred. don't use it if you need it a bit long. read more

She had such a great attitude that honestly helped us made our decision, we were going to another location but after she showed us the place, talked to us and treated us so nice, we decided to book our place there . I rented a unit from them for 6 months, and then they raised the rent substantially. I moved my stuff to Men on The Move Self Storage in Woodbury, and got the same size unit for half the price that Public Storage was charging. I do not recommend renting from Public Storage as they usually offer an "introductory" rate and then raise the rent continuously over time. Public Storage also pushes hard to sell you insurance. I was treated disrespectfully at another Public Storage location and would never do business with Public Storage again! read more

FINAL REVIEW cause I just moved OUTTA here. The Good: 1) Ladies in the office are wonderful ! Always nice in there and happy to help you! That MAY be where the good ends? The Bad: Facts (that they kinda don't tell you face-to-face when you sign up) 1) This goes up $10.00 per month EACH YEAR you are here. I started here at $140.00 (not horrible) and ended here at $170.00 (OUCH!) a month for the basic 10 foot by 10 foot unit. If I stayed here 2 more years-- $200.00 a month!! This in not a huge unit -- it's about the size of McDonalds bathroom. (The ones that are for one single person only at smaller McDonalds). 2) There is no garbage dumpster on the premises . Other units I looked at had a dumpster for your trash (all that fast food and deli garbage at the end of a long trip with friends that helped you move, broken boxes and cracked Tupperware bins you need to get rid of, items that do NOT fit in your new unit, items you just no longer need, etc.) You will be hauling all your garbage back with you -- which stinks--if you're tired with muscles aching from the move! 3) This location is *VERY BUSY* on peak hours (Saturdays and Sundays)! I had this feeling that when I signed up and brought my stuff in here that -- it would be like a ghost town with only little ole ME here- fumbling around in my unit looking for my passport or favorite book or DVD, NOT SO! This particular location is laden with "we got separated/divorced and need to empty our entire house ..... QUICK" people (so it seems from who you see moving in and out). You should see the CRAP these people are storing! And the hideous furniture ! The rich upscale people in this area have poor taste. LOL. 4) NO more "first month free" that most everyone uses to bait you. All done. No more. Fini. 5) Your monthly fee is due by the 7th of the month (grace period). I informed the people in the office that I was moving out on the 4th of the month--figuring that I was still within the "grace period" and it had not reached the 7th yet. I was charged $43.00 (!) because I had not moved out on the 1st of the month. How is that fair if they are giving you a 7 day grace period for your monthly payment ?? Overall- place is safe and clean . Closes at 9:00 PM ( should be open later -- that would be more helpful--especially if you work till 9:00 PM like I do). Mainly , this is just too expensive for what you're getting and it gets busier than normal on weekends (parking can get tight here-- very small parking lot) . Check out their location in Farmingdale -- it's cheaper. read more

Climate Control = the mice climb in and control it. Thank goodness for renters insurance because there is mouse hair, piss, and poop on all that remains of my stuff that was in this corner unit backing up against the exterior wall. And that was only after about 6 months. God only knows how much worse it would've been if it was any longer. On top of that, I moved out on May 5th and still had to pay for the entire month of May. The ladies who work there are sweet, so that helps soften the blow, but still, never again. read more

i'd like to express my opinion of public storage this company is despicable. And I've been renting a unit there for almost 2 decades. The other day I went to pay my unit that was 197. they try to increase the price up $40. Now granted there's always been an increase but not $40 ,mind you I did not get any notification. I found that out when I went to pay my unit. in my opinion, this company does not do anything but EXTORT MONEY from their customers, here's some of the reasons why if you pay over the phone they wanna charge you a $10 fee and half of the time no one's in the main office so you can pay there. They look forward to you being late on your bill so they can charge can charge you high late fee. just like to say with inflation going through the roof this company does not do anything but profit. People please don't fall for that 1 dollar move-in fee because they will find a way to get past that with their billing process. As far as the staff go they are phenomenal Pubic Storage pay your employees expectable wage. PEOPLE PLEASE read this review with an open mind. Do not rent a unit for this company there are too many reputable companies out there but .PUBlIC STORAGE IS NOT ONE OF THEM !!! read more

I have had used a 5x5 unit at this storage facility for about 2 years now (too long I know) and they have increased the rent about $25! The first time I was properly notified by email of the increase; but the last increase occurred without notification. So when I paid my rent, it did not cover the full amount and then I incurred a late fee. Be warned!!! They NO LONGER properly advise of increases of rent or when there is a late fee or balance like they used to! The management at this location is slacking, and hoping to make sales goals in late fees! read more

I called and spoke to Jessica about renting a storage space. Jessica was polite, kind and very knowledgeable. Almost more importantly, she was VERY patient with me. I had so many questions and had no idea about my options or costs. A week later when I was on my way out to move my belongings in Jessica called to see what time I would arrive. The traffic was horrendous - Friday night/summer/holiday craziness. She was getting ready to close up shop but she waited for me. She treated me as a valued customer and as though time was not an issue. She was thorough, polite, professional and helpful as she guided me through the system. On a very rainy day last week, I received a call from Brenda at Public Storage to tell me that she was concerned that the contents of my locker might have gotten wet due to a leak she discovered near a stairwell. I came over and she went with me to look at my locker, which was luckily, fine. She was so helpful, concerned, and courteous. She called me back to tell me that repairs were underway. I began renting a unit at this location 2 years ago and intended on "Yelping" them at that time...but better late than never. I had searched a few other storage companies, and found that the people Public Storage employ are informative, polite, accommodating and offer stellar security. I was able to speak with the storage reps that actually work at the location and not to a central 800 number. I missed one of my first payments, and they gave me a one time reversal, but were clear that they couldn't do that multiple times. On one of the move in days, I happened to meet the Regional Manager, who was extremely helpful. I can understand why the people that work there are happy, informed and helpful - this ethic starts from the top. read more

I rented a large storage room for years. When it was time to move out, I called and asked about the policy for pro-rating the final month. I followed the their instructions to the letter. The manager told me that I was given the wrong information. In the end they charged me for the full month plus an extra $110. They refused to allow me access to my unit until I paid the "ransom". After spending about 15,000 with this company, this was the treatment - disgusting!!! read more
