I have rented from public storage for 2 years while taking an overseas jobs. after one year they just about doubled my rent. a year after that they increased it by another 50%. i started paying about $140 and am now paying $354. they still advertise a 10x20 unit for $160. these people are scammers. avoid at all costs. All advertised rates are introductory but they will lie and say that these are just the average rate. read more

Never anyone in the office, good luck having anyone answer the phones. Was there at 9:20 to make a payment with my Cash App card. There was a car parked at the office. Had to yell "hello" behind the fence at the storage area, only to be responded with "office opens at 9:30". Couldn't even see the person. No hello, good morning nothing, just office opens at 9:30 from somewhere behind the fence and the storage units. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. We moved our belongings on 9/22 and thought everything was great until we came back 2 weeks later to discover someone cut our lock, broke into our unit and STOLE a bunch of our belongings. The lack of cameras and assistance from the facility in this situation was laughable and anything that was left we got it out of there with a quickness. Clearly the facility does not care about their customers that trust them with their things. Get out while you can because I wouldn't wish this on anyone. read more

Public storage charged me for a full month of March rent even though I moved out of the unit March 1st. I called 5 times and they would not work a pro rate of any sort. The facility gate was wide open and broke for over a month and I didn't feel my belongings were safe and secure. So I was stuck paying for an EMPTY unit for the month of March. They are not worth recking my credit over. I will never use them again nor will I recommend them to anyone!! read more

Move in price for a new customer; $200. Current rate for the unit we have had for 10 years; $800. According to Public Storage, the price is due to availability. There are literally thousands of storage units available in Va Beach, with new ones opening almost weekly. Can't hep but feel like they are gouging the crap out of us due to greed! read more

I opened a storage unit on kempsville in Virginia Beach. Regina was so informative and helpful. She has such a beautiful personality. I was there for 3 months and they upped the rent by $180! few months after that, as we were moving out to a new storage place i got an email saying they were once again increasing rent by ANOTHER $180!!!! I would have been paying over $500! I gave notice I was moving out, moved out on the 2nd and they wanted me to pay $380 rent for that entire month. they are crooks and greedy and will get you in with a nice price then screw you over read more

I was late getting to it that evening but Chassidy stayed and worked with me to get everything wrapped up. She was very professional and pointed me in the right direction. By the time I left there I felt I had known her for years . She was very personal , professional, and truly cared about her job. This is the worst storage place ever. I wouldn't store Isis feces in this place. In the time that I had my unit they never fixed the light fixture in my unit. I reported it several time and it was never fixed. I assume the problem was in the wiring because when you bumped the fixture the light would flicker but never stayed on (and yes, I changed the bulb but it didn't help). This would be a good indication of a sort and the high possibility of fire. But not to worry, every time it rained water would flow through the unit so that would have put out the fire from the shorted wire. My belongings were ruined and anyone that I ever talked to about it gave me the brush off and never did anything about it. They were generally uninterested in listening to me when I told them about the potential short in the light or in the water flowing through my unit. DO NOT STORE ANYTHING HERE, it will either be destroyed by water damage or by the potential fire from the faulty wiring and no one there will do anything to correct the situation. read more

However the biggest complaint, is I received a price online in May for my unit at $98, then in September get a notice that rent will be $118 starting in October. A 20% increase after 5 months, talk about bait and switch. Will not be here much longer. read more
