STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! My elderly mother on a fixed income rented a unit here for an advertised price of $180/month. On Jan 1st, they informed her that her rate was going up to $231/month. So we decided to buy a shed on our property to store her stuff. It was then Terri, who is the most vile and disrespectful person I've ever encountered, told my elderly mother to get everything, including trash, out by the end of the month or they were going to continue billing her whether she stayed with the unit or not. So when I went to clean the last of the trash out, I inquired with Terri if there was an available dumpster. She then states that I was trespassing on HER property because I "didn't enter a gate code, and followed one of [her] customers in." Aside from that, when we first got the unit, it was in such bad shape. Absolutely filthy, infested with bugs and vermin, some of the units have people living in them (how they can do that, I don't know why, but God bless 'em). This place is absolutely deplorable, and as for Terri, I don't know what happened to her in her life to make her such a toxic, miserable, and disrespectful person, but I believe she's on some heavy drugs for the way she acts and looks. I needed to rent storage space near my office and quick. I got to PS on S. Independence and ran into probably the best customer service in my life. She directed me to options, fair pricing options, gave me a free month and worked swiftly with my corporate accounting group in Maryland to get the account set up. Terri is an awesome example of who you'd want to work with when jumping through the hurdles involved in understanding and working through a storage unit lease. You could tell she could probably help run an airline where customers are always chaotic. She is cool headed and walked me fairly quickly through our temp storage process. A "keeper"! If we have any openings soon I might have to see if she wants to try something different. Sorry Public Storage, but she's that good. read more

I have been at this location of Public Storage for about 12 years. I have been at this particular 10x10 unit since 2016. I took a back unit to save money, started at $85 month and every 6 months they raise the rent. I am now at $185 month. Honestly, being a long time customer paying on the 1st day of every month, I am not happy that every time they can raise the rent they do. In addition, occasional difficulty of getting to my unit because they park buses, trailers, boats, anything they can fit into a tiny spot which usually only gives me only one way to get in and out, and not much wiggle room, Also, the gate has been broken a few times, usually for weeks or months at a time, which leaves me feeling unsafe pulling into an open gate that anyone could get in to. Geo is great, she is very friendly and has always been helpful. But Public Storage does not care about loyal customers. read more

I use this location to stow an antique automobile every year. Usually 3-4 months in the fall. Convenient, no issues, friendly staff.

My husband I conversed with Ms. Karen, she was very helpful in the situation we are in. She gave us some very good advice and was very informative on what we could and could not do. She answered every question we had and elaborated when we didn't full understand. She was very professional and timely in assisting us and making sure we are all set. I have never really had great experiences with storage unit owners/managers, she was by far the best and most amazing. I highly recommend this location for service and well worth your time and money. STAY AWAY! UNETHICAL PRACTICES. IUse ANY other storage company other than this one. I usually don't leave reviews online if I'm dissatisfied with a business. I try to allow for improvement and go through the business for correction but this business is so bad. They raise the rates of existing customers well beyond the present rates available and claim they have no control. Existing customers are then penalized for being continued loyal customers. Then they tell you that you can move to a different unit and they can magically drop you rate just for moving, making the entire process just a big moving nightmare for you or else keep paying way too much. Then they even raised the rates on customers in the middle of a world wide pandemic knowing that customers are completely unable to work. Just STAY AWAY! read more

I literally just rented a space at this location. Scott was absolutely amazing. Initially, I called the office w/ tons of questions and he patiently took the time to answer them all. Once I arrived he took me for a ride on the public storage Chariot and showed me the space to ensure it was suitable. Scott offered me packing supplies for purchase allowing me the option to buy what I needed to complete my move, and completed all paperwork in less than 15 minutes top! 2.5 stars...Sign up was quick (once I could get the Property manager Karen to stop trying to sell me everything they had). I was shown the unit and once she made sure I was satisfied, she slipped a lock on it and handed me the key (neglecting to tell me that I would be charged nearly $20 for it). Unbeknownst to me, you need a lock for your unit at the time of rental. Had I known sooner, I would have purchased my own lock. When I noticed the charge and insisted I bring my own lock, I was informed that it was "too late". I found this practice slightly shady, but overall not enough to stop me from continuing with the contract. Expect to pay ~$15 more than the quoted monthly cost due to insurance (req'd), fees, etc. read more

On Tuesday 9/11/18, 2 days before Hurricane Florence is supposed to hit our area and it is all over the news to get prepared for it. Public Storage closes it facilities until the storm is over!!!!!!! Oh by the way it was hot, sunny, a few small clouds and some light rain too, to be fair. They did not contact anybody that I know of. There was no emails sent out about closing, I know because I get several emails each month about paying my bill on time. Yet they couldn't send one to let people know they were closing. There were a line of cars trying to get into their units to get hurricane supplies to get ready. They left a paper sign taped to the gate with a number to customer service. I called and left messages with the property manager that there were people trying to get in to their units and left my contact information and requested a call back. I also call the corporate call center and requested the district managers number. They gave it to me and when I called it, it was not in service, NICE!!!!! As of now , I still need my hurricane supples that are still locked awaqy in storage I can not access because Public Storage is still closed and won't return calls to it's customers. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!! I WILL BE MOVING AS SOON AS I CAN GET BACK INTO MY UNIT AND GET TO MY THINGS!!!!!!!!! read more

Very tricky $1 first months's rent. Customer service was great when I rented, terrible after that. Would not recommend.

I wouldn't recommend them. They lie to you about the cost of renting a unit. They advertise $1, plus an admin fee of $22. OK, cool, it's $23 for the first month. Nope! It was over $50, because they *forced* me to buy their lock (and I won't get a refund for the lock, even though they get it back), even though I had my own with me, and they *forced* me to purchase their insurance, even though I had my own. I was in an urgent situation, having moved from out of state, and the apartment we were supposed to move into was disgusting. The guy kept trying to sell me boxes. Dude, I don't need boxes, I need a place to put all my boxes. Then he was trying to sell me mattress covers. Dude, I don't need mattress covers, I need a place to put my already-wrapped mattresses. They will lock you out of you storage unit the day that the rent is due. Not when it's late, but the day it is actually due. It's insane. The staff are not helpful, and they're pretty rude. Needless to say, I'm happy to be moved out. It's just an unethical bait and switch practice. read more

After having a rough day, Ms Debbie was very kind enough to helped me find the best deal for a temporary space to store my stuff, she was very patient to answer all of my concerns. Horrible experience!! Had 3 units with them while building a new home & had to store all of our belongings. Had no problem with one unit, second unit wouldn't lock properly & after they assured me they would make sure it locked they didn't & we had over $3,000 worth of items stolen. Third unit had professionally wrapped & packed furniture that ended up with sever water damage & mold & had to be thrown out. When we tried to talk them about it they were rude & said it was "our problem ". NEVER AGAIN & will NEVER recommend them read more

Wouldn't suggest renting from them again. My unit leaked the entire time I have rented from them. The manager is decent but not very helpful. I tried to see what options I had about my unit leaking and was told I could move my stuff to a new unit(without any help from the company) or they would change the seal or I could try to weatherproof it myself. I asked them to change the seal. They did after about a week. I went to check on the unit on another wet day and it was still leaking about 3 feet into a 10 foot unit. I tried calling the corporate number and was told there was nothing they could do and I would need to speak with a district manager. I'm being charged a late fee now because I told them I didn't want to pay full price for a faulty unit. Not happy with Public Storage. Wouldn't use them again or recommend to a friend. Not worth the hassle and lackluster customer service. read more

I used this facility for 2 years....rates went up more than 25% during that time...also, when I came to move my family's belongings, we discovered that rats had infested our stuff...sofas destroyed, furniture crapped on...absolutely disgusting...unbeknownst to us...our $2000 insurance policy on the unit only covers up to $250...manager stated that there was nothing that Public Storage would do to help us...district manager was even less sympathetic...offered us some latex gloves to clean it up....unbelievable! I'm a Firefighter, my wife is a Teacher...how do we make up for this loss? We paid over $200/month for this unit...management hasn't thought to offer reimbursement of any kind...I would have rather stored my items under a tarp in a field...stay far far away, from this or any other Public Storage! read more

I have used this facility for years now. Rates went up over 30 percent on me during past year. I finally could no longer afford it. Late fees are high and online payment was impossible to set up. A loyal customer.....I was never offerred any break in rental fees or specials as what is offered to new customers. Today I moved my items out and was asked to pay an additional 8 dollars since it was rhe 2nd of rhe month. I couldnt believe it and it left me with a bad feeling. Especially after a federal holiday. I should of just grabbed my stuff and left instead of checking out. read more

I am quite satisfied with my experience at this Public Storage location. Debbie was extremely friendly and helpful. She answered all of my questions (I had a lot of them) with a smile. The first unit she showed me had a slightly "wet" smell and it concerned me a little, so she showed me another unit immediately and I was happy with that one. She made sure I was happy with the choice! They are under construction, and there is limited parking to begin with, so it was pretty difficult to park and enter the building. Once you enter the storage area it isn't too bad though. And I'm sure when the work is complete it will make a positive difference. I was unhappy with the lock situation. I was never told I needed a lock, even when I asked over the phone what I should know, or bring, before coming. You will be forced to spend about $20 on a lock in order to secure your unit if you do not bring your own! They will also try to sell you several add-ons, including insurance, but remember you have the option to say NO. Overall, I had an above average experience with the staff, Debbie, and an average experience otherwise. We got a great deal on our unit, and would recommend this place to others. read more
