What is there to say about Publix. I have to admit I don't go to Publix very often. At one time I was in one multiple times a week, but they've kind of fallen out of favor for me. I visit smaller or more local stores. Don't get me wrong. The store was clean, and the people friendly, but the prices are high and the parking is almost always an issue. I stopped in this Publix because it was on my way to a get together. It was theee stars ok. As I mentioned before the parking was an issue and the prices were not exceptional. I get the subs from time to time. Today I noticed they had falafel subs and wraps so being a huge falafel fan, I gave it a go. Falafel is supposed to be a fried patty, crunchy on the outside tender on the inside. That's not what I got, though it was certainly chickpeas. I am writing this review in reference to Publix sushi. I don't typically write reviews in big chain stores, but I have been coming here for 3 yrs and it's time to write about the sushi dude. I have to say he is very very nice and talented, if you ask him to make you a sushi a specific way he will make it happen. The sushi makers name is David (or at least that what he said lol) If your are looking for some sushi or a quick bite to eat trust me this Publix will not disappoint. Purchased one of their Thanksgiving meals with a pumpkin pie and pecan pie. Ended up with two pecans. Disappointing.

Friendly and helpful staff. Can be a bit crowded on the weekends as it's so close to all the springs and everyone comes for supplies. Store is well kept and all departments run pretty smoothly. I have never been in a Publix where the employees are so poorly trained and I am comparing this to all the other Publix stores in our area. 70% of my visits are disappointing. If I were the secret shopper their would be a whole turnover of staff. Today I stopped in during dinner rush hour to pick up chicken in the deli. They have 2 people working meat slicing, 1 making sandwiches, 1 serving hot foods. Long lines for all of them. The phone is ringing non-stop and more people are standing to my left for app-based order pickups. The problem is not enough staff for the volume of traffic. The young lady who waited on me needed help and was apologizing but I could tell she was stressed out. Why don't they hire more people for that rush hour froThe people they hire seem to be mostly supplied by the local high school and lack a real interest in the business. The stock boys can always be found chatting with each other, totally ignoring customers who look lost or need help. I asked to speak with a manager as I was leaving and was told they all left at 6pm and I would have to speak with a Team Leader. This Publix is a disgrace to the chain. The residents of Alachua deserve better. I am taking my business back to Jonesville. I'm back at my favorite Publix in Alachua Florida and I must say it's a disappointment again At check out the bagger and the person at the register were both rude. this is unfortunate because the person who helped me in produce and another person who helped me with something else we're both awesome. Clean, bright, and always fully stocked. This location has the added convenience of a drive thru pharmacy. The layout of this location brings you past flowers, the bakery, deli, then produce. Meat is along the back wall, as is the dairy section, which rounds the corner and follows the far left wall with eggs, yogurt & cheese. You'll find all your other aisles in the middle with the pharmacy to the far left of the registers & customer service to the far right. (Of course I'm locating as if you're entering the store). Friendly associates & always great BOGOs. If they don't have a product, and you shop here often, they'll get it. As you can tell, this Publix is tops on my list. It arrived on scene about two months after I moved back to Alachua... so I stayed. read more

If I make it back to this store it will be to soon. It hasn't been opened for very long and it's as unkempt as it can be. The ladies restroom was in horrible condition which means they don't care. I did two laps around the store before I finally surrendered and asked a stockman where the Crystal Light products were located. The check-out conveyer belt was wet and nasty. more issues with the pharmacy than any other place ive been. things change from minute to minute, day to day. absolutely unprofessional to say a rx is ready to arrive and find it hasnt been filled or even printed. the store is overwhelmed with patrons gathering their groceries already, as this "city" has few options all equally overwhelmed from surrounding cities and traffice coming into the state but the pharmacy isnt being used by visitors- which begs the question-why cant things just work? if you prepay and get into prepay line you are ignored by the general line due to the position of the clerks vs the two lines, alays a mess, switching to somewhere else that doesn't change the rules based on a single persons preferences. read more

We could spend our food dollars anywhere we wanted to. Aldi's is a great idea if you are really on budget - YET you will be hard pressed to find a better group of Managers and workers that Publix of Alachua. The new management team works incredibly hard to "get it right" for all of us customers....the first time. The other stores may have sales here and there - yet for us - when we go into Publix, we are greeted. If we need help with and item on the top shelf - they gladly help. There wasn't an option to give 0 stars, or I would have done so. I tried to get a prescription filled there, and the pharmacy actually REFUSED to fill it. It wasn't because they didn't have the item or had to order it, it was just a flat turn down. It seemed like they were judging me because of the prescription that I needed. They claim to pride themselves on helping to fill their customer's needs, yet they wouldn't help me get a necessary medication. I would advise going to the CVS right down the road instead. read more

I love publix. And as far as publixs go i would say this one os top of the class. Its relatively new clean has a drive thru pharmaxy and a liquor store. The employees are polite and helpful. The bakery dept is top notch. I always like to get the little pizzas (sciattia or something like that) and i ask for them to heat it up. They go out of their way to do that for me. The sushi dept has a nice selection as well. I will continue to support publix, what a great way to shop read more

I have experienced better service at Publix. This location is not one of the best at all. I went there on 3.11.17 to buy some chicken. I wanted the thighs to be cut in half because in my culture we use small pieces of meat for stewed and curried chicken. The Custom Cut sign in the meat section must be a joke because the employee there looked at me like I was from another planet and told me that they are not allowed to cut those parts of meat, and he could be fired if he did. I do not blame the employee, but I do blame the store. How can you cut small pieces of other kinds of meat but not chicken? This is cultural ignorance for want of a better phrase. There is a West Indian aisle in the store yet you cannot cater to West Indians when it comes to custom cut meat? Get it right Publix Alachua! read more

I have to say, I am shocked at this Publix. My wife and I love, I mean absolutely love shopping at Publix. But this store has some major issues. In the last 30 days my wife has gone 3 times. All three times the shelves have not been stocked, only 1-3 lanes were open and no one offered to help her to the car or even put the bags in the cart. Trust me, she is not helpless but with a sick and crying 18 month old you would think someone would over. I think the management is failing at this location. The Publix in Alachua is a disgrace to Publix name. In the past people have accused me of being the poster child for Publix because I rave on and on about how much I love Publix's business model, cleanliness, product selection and most of all the quality of employee training. The Alachua Publix however has been up and running for over 6 months and still can't get much right. The Pharmacy has been friendly and helpful-no complaints there; however all other departments miss the mark by a mile. Whenever I can't find an advertised product, I am forced to ask 3 to 5 employees before someone finally shows me where the item it is located. Even customer service is inept and just shrugs their shoulders and says it must be a misprint in their ad, the product doesn't exist, or "maybe" we are out. Nothing seems certain in this Publix - just that it is not much of a concern to the employees or managers. I recently purchased an item, got home and realized they over charged me by $6. I called and they checked and confirmed that their weighing scales were off and to come back at my convenience. I returned the following day and had to explain the situation to 4 people starting at the customer service desk who just stated it wasn't their problem and they didn't know what to do. I then went to the deli and spoke to 2 people. They proceeded to make me feel like an idiot even though I had the product label and receipt in hand. Finally we ended up back at the customer service counter with the manager explaining how they messed up and I was over charged. This Publix didn't even abide by the "Publix Promise" to give you the item free if not the advertised price. After 20 minutes and talking to 6 people, this Publix opted to give me my $6 over charge back. I am grateful this Publix even came to that conclusion-it appeared to be a real struggle for them. From now on I will be driving the extra 15 miles to go to a real Publix with real Publix employees. read more
