Shopping here has truly been a pleasure--it's not just kitschy marketing. Everyone is super nice, and the sandwich people take their work *verrry seriously, almost to the point of being Picasso--spreading the mayo like it's paint on a canvas. Recently I had a guy help me unload my groceries from the cart to the conveyor belt. (read that sentence again and let it sink in.) Bought apples twice and both times one was rotten to the core. just disgusting. They rarely have any cold cuts stocked (on a lot of products tbh) and when they do they are on sale ensuring that people will hoard as much as possible. They have no problem with this. This is super close to my hotel (like the next block close) and I needed a few groceries during our stay here. There's a parking garage and street parking available. We're from out of town, LA to be exact. Here for my son's football tournament. As I'm shopping, I remembered folks were saying to try out their subs. You know the saying that "Ice Tray" said in Fresh Prince, "..When in Rome, do as..." So I did. I tried them. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, Jerk Turkey and a classic cold Turkey sub. The bread is really good and the ingredients and toppings you choose what you want to put on your sub. I loved the Cordon Bleu. I needed a quick to go lunch before game day and this just did that. Filling and delicious. Great customer service and I also enjoyed the store in general. It's not as big as your normal supermarket, it's a cute small size perfect for Midtown. But I did run into a gentleman wearing a Braves hat and a GA hoodie while I'm sporting a LA hat and a Cali hoodie (10/16/21: NLCS Round: Game 1: Dodgers vs Braves game day) and I felt the competition vibe already - it's on! This is the first Publix I've been to, so I can't compare it to other ones, but what I can tell you is that I really like their Publix brand products! From the marketing to the flavor, to the price, I thought it was fairly impressive! 69 cents for a 2 liter of soda! $1.75 for chips! I even saw chicken quarters for 99 cents a pound! BBQ season is looking pretty damn promising with those kinds of deals hanging around! The produce selection is half the size of the meat selection, but I'm just going to put that down to a Southern thing? You have to understand that there are a lot of things to keep a guy from Seattle entertained in here! Prepackaged deep fried corn on cob! Chitin's! Carmel and Cheese popcorn? I love how stores in the Atlanta have a seating area for people to hang out and enjoy their deli selections... talk... or just stare at me like they're going to eat my face! This is a unique Publix, IMO. The staff is basically your usual-we-are-so-helpful-type that you'd expect, but it's a strange blend of customers and all in a tiny space! Differently organized than the larger Publix stores like at The Peach. A bit disorienting when you first get acquainted - but then you figure out the the frozen pizza and such "corridor" is next to produce, and the yogurt/cottage cheese/ricotta shelves are separated from the biscuits/cookies/rolls....etc. Awkard - though still nice- staff - because I have encountered folks who actually work for Publix but also for distributors who bring various foods. All have been nice and tried to help, just some more able to than others. Also awkward, the whole floor/cart/entry/exit situation. Strange "bargain" bins of what's on special. Horrible parking mostly because of the awkward garage. Good pharmacy with super nice staff. Their "sub" deli part does seem to work more smoothly than Atlantic Stn (*1pm weekday shudder*) and it's even smaller than that location. Bottom line (ha) - not a bad Publix if in your neighborhood or on your way to or fro, but I wouldn't make it my reg spot unless it was super convenient. read more

There are four Publix in Midtown - Public on Ponce (probably the best), Publix on Piedmont (you are in a hurry and don't have a closer option), Publix in Atlantic Station (nice, but you have to go to an Underground Parking deck and catch an elevator), and this one. I like this one enough and would rank it 2nd in my list of Intown Publix locations. First, the parking is an underground deck. There is some limited street access on Spring Street, but chances are you'll opt for the Underground Deck. For a lot of folks, that's a deal killer all by itself. But after living in the Northeast, the only parking is typically in parking decks, so that for me is not a deal killer. But it does add a bit of hassle that is not normally in Atlanta grocery shopping. Then the aisles are long. You wouldn't think that would be a problem, until you attempt to buy a couple of items that require you to walk the length of the store several times just to get one item. That's a small deterrent. I have found the selection to be pretty decent and the folks nice enough. I think that the hassle of the Underground parking garage has been enough to send me to other stores. And that's important because Publix, aside from the BOGO sales which are the best things on Earth -- is not competitive price wise. So you have to have a bit of a hassle with the parking deck and higher prices. It's a nice store, but I really only go to it if I am in the area and don't feel like the hassle of the Publix on Piedmont. read more

We went there a few times - close to where we were staying. Positives: Good selection of spices and of course, as much high-calorie processed food as you like. Good selection of apples (we like our fruit) and had one variety called "Envy" which we cannot get in Canada. Very good (and fresh). Lots of baked goods with thick layers of frosting ... what can I say ... after some BBQ have a slice of cake with frosting ... LOL. GOOD VARIETY OF CHEESE PRODUCTS FROM EVERYWHERE. we're from out of town and a friend told us we HAD to try publix deli while we were here, so we went. The sandwiches are pretty good and all around $6. good deal! however, the girl making our sandwiches was new and obviously needed help. She asked a coworker behind her a question who seemed to be doing online orders or something, and we watched her coworker blatantly ignore her. it was so rude!!! how was the new girl supposed to learn? You should never be discouraged from asking questions at a new job. Because of this, my sister didn't get her tofu on her sandwich because the girl didn't know where it was. If it wasn't for the deli counter, I'd give this Publix location a perfect 5 stars. The good: Centrally located, always clean and stocked, staff so helpful and available to point you in the right direction, safe (cheers to the extra nice security people at the front) and the cashiers are amazing and so friendly. Their selection is great at this location and offer they lots of quality brands. For a supermarket, their wine selection is above average and I can't forget the subs which are delicious and a great value. The really bad: The deli counter is the SLOWEST COUNTER IN ALL OF ATLANTA. It takes absolutely forever every single time -- without fail -- to place even one simple order. My fiancé and I started timing our waits and with one customer in front of us, we average a 15-20 min wait. Every time. We always dread the wait. This could easily be solved by better management and more effective training to keep the line moving more efficiently. read more

I shop at the Emory Commons Publix, but early this morning I was in the middle of a 21 mile run when I really needed to use the bathroom. I dashed into the Chevron at 10th and Spring St to learn that they didn't have one. I dashed across the street to Checkers to learn that they didn't have one. But Publix, a block away, did, and it was conveniently right by the store entrance at 9th and Spring St. I was pleased to find that it was very clean, and as many of the reviewers have noted, the people who work there do seem to be very nice, which is saying a lot about one's attitude at 7:15 am on a Sunday morning. The woman at the returns / lottery / etc. counter by the entrance engaged me and my fellow runners in pleasant conversation and wished us a good rest of the day and, most importantly, didn't scowl at me for using the bathroom without patroning the store. My apologies that this review says absolutely nothing about the quality of my shopping experiences here, as I haven't had any. But to a runner, the availability of bathrooms in the world is important and worth noting, which my review seeks to do. read more

This publix has the worst customer service in the deli and prepared foods section. The employees just don't seem to care and put off the vibe that they don't want to be there. On more than one occassion I have received inadequate service which resulted in me leaving my basket full of items and going to a different Publix with far better customer service. I have experienced issues ranging from lack of variety in deli sub ingredients to downright deplorable cleanliness issues. I will not be coming back to this Publix. read more

It's so great to have a grocery store in Midtown I can walk to when I need to pick up a few items. (Or if I'm lazy, I can drive the few blocks and park in the spacious garage off 8th street.) Yes, it's small, and the aisles are abnormally long and narrow, but I've always been able to find what I need. Unlike some of the other Yelpers, I've had good luck finding the sale items. Recently, during the Christmas holidays, they offered a crate of clementines for $1.99. (The same crate was $6.99 at Kroger.) In general, the staff is friendly, helpful, and efficient, but there are one or two cashiers that bring the attitude. The women that work the deli are generous with free samples, and the employees working the floor are glad to answer any questions. And if you're short on cash, the ATM just outside the store - in the garage - is quite convenient. read more

Think of this place as a mini-grocery store. It has all of the basics, in a slightly reduced floor plan. Great location in Midtown--near MARTA and ample parking in the deck. Decent selection of produce and a nice deli. Lots of Georgia Tech folks come through here for their weekly supplies, so it can't be that bad. read more

This is a smaller scale Publix that doesn't have all that the typical Publix has, and they often run out of popular items. Instead of checking inventory, I'm always told flat out no when I ask if there's more of something in the back. Despite this, it's just so convenient when I'm in Midtown. For some reason, I always come to this Publix as opposed to the one nearest my house. I would advise you in that they have an extremely high volume of customers from Georgia Tech, student and residential housing, as well if office workers. Therefore, peak times at the deli are horrendous. I wish they would scale their labor to reflect demand accordingly during those times. read more

*sigh* The love/hate relationship I have with this Publix. First, the good... They earnestly try to make things 'right' if they are out of an item or they overcharge/mischarge you for an item. Like most every Publix, they provide high-quality service and their produce section is filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. The pharmacy here is great and probably one of the friendliest you'll find. Now, the bad... Lines are consistently long at check-out and crowds are common in the evening hours and on Sundays. Even when the store is not crowded, staff can be found furiously stocking shelves, impeding a shopper's navigation of the aisles. It is a small Publix, so they do not carry the full gamut of items that other Publixes will. The deli has a habit of messing up orders and rushing customers through the line just for the sake of serving everyone. Compared to other Publixes, it's not as impressive. But, in the grand scheme of things, it is a good grocery store and manages certain aspects of the business very well. I have no plans to stop shopping here, but when the Whole Foods on 14th opens up soon, it's bound to show some improvement. read more

Deli is horribly understaffed. Scheduled a simple order to be picked up in 30 minutes, and when I got there, it took another 30 minutes for someone to even talk to me. It absolutely infuriates me when stores sell expired goods. Seems like a pretty basic requirement, right? Bought Diet Dr. Pepper on 8/4/17 that expired in March of this year. It was pushed to the front of the shelf. I think they do this thinking most people don't look at expiration dates but the soda was extremely foul tasting. Back home, I had a few Floridians rave about this somewhat legendary grocery store, but I had no idea what made this Southern chain so great. So during my very first night in Atlanta, I needed some fruit and decided to check out this Midtown location. My take: PRODUCE: They don't have the freshest produce section, and it's not very well stocked. Especially their vegetables. Please stock with kales and other beautiful leafy greens often, please. MEATS: Kind of a mixed bag with most of the packaged meats looking dull pink. I didn't see one steak bright, fresh red. Not a lot of options, for those that want non-GMO and organic meats. DAIRY: Often well-stocked with plenty of eggs, milk, etc... No problems here. SERVICE: Publix definitely has a competitive advantage when it comes to great customer service. And, I think this Publix is no different. The first time I ever visited this grocery store, the cashier called me "darling" and "sweetie pie." So, I'll always remember that. Oh, and now know what a buggie (shopping cart) is. ACCESSIBILITY: There's plenty of parking in the little mall's parking embedded parking ramp. PRICES: Probably the main draw to Publix is its affordability. No problems here. OVERALL: Well, after visiting this Publix a few times, I think it's absolutely A-OK. However, I prefer other grocery stores that are a bit farther away from me, just because I want higher quality goods and am willing to pay a premium for them. This is my neighborhood Publix, and despite its relative small size, I love it. While they can't stock absolutely everything in the space, they've done a great job of catering to their local demographic: a large frozen food and go-to meal section, decent natural/organic selection (not a ton of produce), eliminating the large bakery and pharmacy departments. In this location, it all makes sense. Plus, the employees at this store are just about the friendliest folks ever. It's hard for me to make a trip to Publix and *not* get a fresh made sub, and the people in the deli are always super sweet. I don't grocery shop often (I eat maybe 1 or 2 meals at home... a week), but when I do this Publix certainly does the trick, whether you can walk from nearby or need to drive and use their super easy (and free!) parking garage. read more

This Publix is probably my favorite in Atlanta. It is extremely organized and a lot of the employees are very polite. I always come here and immediately go to the deli, and get a sandwich because they are amaaaaazzzzing!!! So addicting! Every one in the deli is always so nice, especially Marcus and Leia. Every time I come here and they're making my sandwich, I know I'm in good hands. The ingredients and bread are always fresh and delicious. Katie W. and I had just finished Date Night and she offered to drive me to Publix so I could pick up some more ice cream sandwiches. I went to the aisle they were completely out! *gasp* I stopped a manager and he went in back to see if they had more. We waited a few minutes and he came back empty handed. I told him I came all the way there just for them, so he gave me a pack of the M&M's ice cream cones for free. Wow. I also needed some more firewood (yes, I was buying ice cream sandwiches and firewood). I couldn't find any real wood and I asked about it as I checked out. The cashier had no idea what I was trying to say, but the Spanish-speaking lady who was bagging walked all the way to the back and brought back a fire log. I actually wanted real wood (like, from a tree). Regardless, I thought it was very thoughtful of her to go out of her way to try to find what I wanted. read more

Let me first start by saying - I love Publix! I do, it's my favorite grocery store... the service, the cleanliness, the BOGOs are everything. This Publix in particular I adore because I can walk to it if needed and they have one of my favorite Deli's. Why the 2???? SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. SLOW. Slow. slow... it take about 5-7 minutes per person per sandwich. Let's do some quick math, if there are 4 people in front of you, you're looking at a 20-28 minute wait. I come at off times so I always think its going to be a quick ordeal, but nope... I'm always waiting no less than 20 minutes, usually 35-45 minutes. It sounds like a stretch but its real... it happened last night. Maybe they're quicker during weekday lunch, idk. But they all seem extremely exhausted and move at turtle pace... I swear Publix must have them doing a bootcamp before shifts and midway between shifts. Or maybe their kitchen isn't efficiently designed and prepped. ADVICE: Someone needs to sit down and review the sandwich orders from the past month, look and see on average how much of each product you need each day. Have all those items prepped the night before. Recheck the morning of just in case that person left something off. Organize the kitchen in a way that makes sense... you guys gotta figure out ways to shave time off. Place people in positions where they work the quickest. For example, yesterday a younger guy was handling the hot food, when there wasn't anyone left in that line he switched to the sandwiches and things moved quicker. Someone who moves slow shouldn't work sandwiches because it causes for alot of movement... slice meat, reaching down to find sauces, cutting bread, heating things up, etc. In business it's all about maximizing a person's potential. The attitudes of the people in this deli aren't usual Publix attitude either, but I think its because its so busy that their smile wards off. I feel like they need sometype of mid-shift pep talk. And maybe some incentives... yea I would reward them with giftcards to extra PTO time for proper prep work and quicker sandwich making times. I'll be back tomorrow. It's a Market. It has your standard market things. It's a convenient place for nearby college students to get groceries for the week and restock on some essentials. I frequent this location every week or so to get some snacks, food, or other living need oriented things. In every possible category of products, Publix has removed the good and interesting products, to only leave the dull and boring ones. Hard to get worse than this. The staff is friendly; the place is new and shinny, but I go to a grocery store to get products, to buy good and interesting stuff. Here, I couldn't find any. Take breads: all the breads were packaged in plastic. Yes, all! Like another yelper wrote, that's great if you're in the market for a bread that lasts for 3 days rather than a bread that actually tastes good. Take beers: you'll find the same "selection" you get at 7-Eleven. No Chimay. Not even one beer that comes in a large bottle (those are usually the best). Take yogurt and kafir: the only kafir they had were fruit-flavored (what a sin!), and the only 2 plain yogurt I could see where fat free (another sin!). Take packaged hams: no prosciutto, no pancetta. Not a single one. Only packages of that cooked tasteless ham. I have a slogan for Publix: "The Most Boring Food You'll Ever See!" read more

I live above this Publix, so it's really hard to avoid shopping here (although I try my best to go anywhere else...) I can count on one hand the number of good visits. While there are a few nice, friendly, efficient employees, the majority are unprofessional and often rude. Almost every time I check out, the associate is having a conversation with the bagger or another associate nearby, which actually wouldn't bother me so much if I at least got some sort of recognition. The other issue is the level of unprofessionalism the associates show... Some of the conversations are just downright inappropriate. Where are your managers?? Another thing that happens nearly every time I shop here - The employees restocking the shelves have their carts in the aisle (I get it, I love that they're keeping the shelves full) but they don't actually acknowledged shoppers nearby and don't seem to care (or realize?) that they're often in the way. I have had to ask employees in almost every single one of these situations to please help me out and either grab something or move just a bit so I can get something from the shelf. Not something a shopper who is spending hard-earned money in your establishment should have to ask for. While this Publix does nothing outwardly awful (the only reason I gave 2 stars vs 1), I just don't understand why they have no interest in making their shoppers' experiences more enjoyable. That is, by the way, their model and the very reason people knowingly pay more for the same products elsewhere, right? To shop at a grocer that is helpful, knowledgable and professional, and makes shoppers' feel special, to justify the added cost? I actually don't need a cushy, "enjoyable" shopping experience (the convenience justifies the added cost for me), but shopping here is downright frustrating and infuriating most of the time. If this Publix is convenient, I get it. Otherwise, you'd be better of spending your money elsewhere. read more

Unsure why people prefer Publix over Kroger. I must be missing something. This Publix is small, gets very crowded with long lines. The deli line is not only long, but painfully slow. Is the food really that much better? There is a Which Wich right across the street that sells hot sandwiches. I used to shop at Kroger but moved nearby this Publix and the location is very convenient so I've give it a try multiple times and really wanted to like it but I cannot convert. I was a long-time Kroger shopper and know the prices of many items that Publix sells, Kroger is cheaper for every single item. Do people like spending more money for the same product? Again, I must be missing something... Most recently, I went in later at night when I realized I ran out of contact lens cases, found out that they do not carry any...?! This was highly confusing to me as I have never seen a grocery store (esp ones with a pharmacy) not carry contact lens cases. I love this Publix and honestly i'm more of a Kroger shopper, but it's perfect. 1) There is covered parking and bammm there's the entrance. It's awesome. 2) My tanning bed is right there!!! (Yes, I tan. Gotta keep the color all year long) 3) You've got the bank, breakfast, Thread House, and lunch or dinner and drinks riiiight there!!!!!! So, here are the steps you take or atleast this is what I do. First I hop into J. Christophers (is that the name of it?) for breakfast, then I walk next door to Thread House to check out the latest trends the hip and wanna be cool adults are wearing these days, then I take a walk on over to Hollywood Tans to add a little depth to my already vanilla caramel complexion, and then head home for a walk in piedmont and a shower. After a couple hours you head back to Publix for some grocery shopping and then over to Marlows for dinner and drinks and Voila, you've got it all taken care of...sorta. lol read more

Not bad. Not Brad. I'm here often. It's on my commute, so I pick up an apple as a homeward-bound snack or some deodorant as co-worker relief. This Publix is tight but sufficient. I suppose someone would be surprised by the beer, wine, and fried chicken selection, but then one wouldn't realize the number of students within stumbling distance. The folks working here are quite nice considering that whole stumbling aspect. And I know a few of us live in the floors above... Definitely nice considering that. read more

I've never been to a Publix prior to moving to Atlanta and visiting this store. I was one of those who went to Target to avoid Wal-Mart. Now, I go to Publix to avoid Wal-Mart.. and still go to Target if I need any household goods. What's nice: --It always looks full. Their employees are always fronting the product so the shelves appear stocked. --There are never pallets blocking the aisles. (I'm looking at you, Wal-Mart.) --Most people who work there are friendly. What's not so nice: --Georgia Tech Students! Beware of boots, stretchy pants and backpacks. (They aren't that bad. Just remove the damn headphones, please.) --Slightly smaller selection. This store is downtown and has a smaller selection than a store in the suburbs would have. However, I have yet to *not* find something I want. Bottom line: I'll go here whenever given the choice. If not, it's the Kroger on Monroe. read more

This past Super Bowl Sunday about 7:45pm. I visited the hot food section. They had almost no chicken. I asked the girl she said she dropped her last chicken. I said mame it's Super Bowl Sunday in our city and the game same little less than an hour ago how can you not have any chicken. She relented went to another young and this young lady came up and snotty and condescending. I repeated the same thing to here she flipped me off. I went to get a manager the manager had to get another employee to fry some chicken. There was know a line of six people wanting chicken. The store had super bowl decorations everywhere but Publix's was not ready. It was disappointing. read more
