Publix has the best customer service in all of the city of Atlanta. Consistent customer service. Take a closer look at the people they hire. Genuinely nice people. The atmosphere is great and I love how now Publix is offering healthier Publix brand items. Kroger has simple truth and Publix has GreenWise. The people make up Publix. read more

You are an inner city Publix. I get that. This is not really the part of town that would justify such a small space IMO, but I understand space is at a premium. Coming from the suburbs, I still expect grocery stores to be big sprawling monstrosities where you can buy ketchup in 30 different sizes. You can still find ketchup here, maybe just in one or two sizes. They do a good job of covering the basics. For instance, my old Publix might have 20 different types of fresh herbs, and this little fellow only had two: cilantro and parsley. Cilantro is pretty much the only one I would have bought anyway, so I'm ok with this compromise. At the end of the day, you are giving up selection for convenience. This Publix gets marks for being so close to my home. It's a typical, in-town Publix in most respects. Because of the plot of land this particular Publix is on, it's a little smaller than most and doesn't have the variety of items and brands to choose from that its larger brethren do, but it still does a decent job of carrying staples. Just don't go looking for something super exotic here. I have to admit, I don't come here too often because it's not on the way home from work, which is when I tend to stop off to do my grocery shopping, but if it's the weekend, I only need a couple of general items, or I'm just fed up with Kroger, I'll swing by. It's nice-ish inside: relatively clean, ok deli, ok bakery (neither are big, but that's usually not a go to thing for me), decent produce selection, butcher, little lady giving out recipe samples, friendly checkers, etc. Getting into the parking lot's not particularly easy (the lights around it are a little quick to change, especially with the turn signals), but parking is a breeze and plentiful. My fiance and I recently moved to the Lindbergh area and this just so happens to be the closest Publix to us. We got spoiled at the last place we lived because the Publix was right in front of the complex - so we could just walk to it. Now we actually have to make grocery lists and only go once a week instead of everyday! *gasp* Parking is pretty bad at this location, but there is an entire other parking lot you can park in right next to it. Most downtown locations are going to have crappy parking situations anyway. I believe this Publix actually has a really good selection of everything we shop for. They also carry Applegate lunch meat which is amazing - our old Publix did not. They have a wide variety of wines and beers and their sushi counter always has lots of fresh choices (at least at the times we've been). I'm sad they have a lobster tank, the parking situation is less than ideal, the store is laid out a bit oddly (unless I just haven't gotten used to it yet), they don't offer many ethical meat choices except for White Oak Pastures grass-fed beef and the Applegate products, but it's a pleasant place to do my grocery shopping and they carry the majority of products I need! read more

I agree with a few reviewers here on the size and parking. The deli selection is not my favorite but they have GREAT rotisserie chickens (the Mojo). Here is what makes them AMAZING and MUCH better than the 2 other Publix I often go to. For one the little gal in the sushi department is AMAZING!! She lights up when she sees me because she knows I am a sushi snob and knows I am a sucker for her fresh stuff. AMAZING sushi, and I eat a lot of it. The selection kinda sucks if you go in late or she is not working. The Mt. Fuji roll is awesome!!! Like so good I could cry... The meatballs in the fresh meat section directly to the right of the sushi. OMG!! I saw the guy stocking them tonight and he said they make them fresh and I told him I KNOW!! I now pass other Publix just to come to this one because they do not have freshly made, not frozen meatballs. They are the best meatballs I have ever had, when my husband cooks them. I seem to screw them up and overcook them. OMG! Who would of thought meatballs could be amazing??? I think they do a good job here. The shelves always seem to be stocked, how I don't know considering how narrow the aisles are. The cashiers are also always friendly and nice. read more

I don't buy too many groceries as I am always out of town, but Publix is a pretty decent place. It's clean, there aren't homeless walking up and down the ailes, and the check-out people are pretty friendly. I'm use to pretty nice grocery stores (Chapel Hill, NC's Harris Teeter and Whole Foods), but this place gets the job done. read more

Y'all and your reviews... I cannot bring myself to read them and see why this Publix has only 3 stars. Here's what happened when I went in and found everything I need like a boss. Parking: even though there's a major motion picture shooting next door (and when isn't there a film being shot next door, Atlanta? :D), parking is easy. Walking in: I take 5 steps and realize they keep the carts outside, so I U-turn. Walking in with a cart like a boss: Nothing special. It's apparent there's a full service deli section that runs all the way down the left wall to the produce, so I proceed quickly down this wall, since I don't dig on swine, but they sell hot sandwiches and I think I saw BBQ and looked pretty busy. I stopped and found a cheap bottle of white wine I like for $5 like a boss on the way to the produce section. Produce: Nice. I'm a vegetablist, I should mention... Everything looked really good. Impressive selection. I got asparagus for $3, bright red heirloom tomatoes for $4/lb like a boss, some garlic, some criminis, and some potatoes. An employee greets me and asks how I'm doing. I grab some grapes and also the first Georgia peaches I've seen since I've been here (1 month!) Shopping: I found every single thing I wanted to find. Seriously, every single exact thing I like to eat (except one) are in that Publix. In my home town I have to go to 3 or 4 stores to get the stuff I like but somehow, amazingly, they're here. Gardein faux meats, Morningstar fake bacon. Pete's whole bean coffee. Greek Gods salted caramel yogurt, Mrs. T's pirogies. Simple Green for $3 like a boss. Something's going on, this place isn't that big... With the exception of the salsa I like, (and I'm surprised I haven't seen Herdez at all here in Georgia) I found a freaky high percentage of my favorite things. Coconut LaCroix, all the weird things I and maybe only myself like the best. The only explanation for this is a hidden camera show. I convinced myself the muzak system would start playing Maps & Atlases and I would bump into Leonardo DiCaprio looking for the Band-Aids with the flexible fabric I like, which I found, like a boss, by the way. I also grabbed a bag of Vidalia onion snacks that kept peering at me. They're like a baked cheese puff with onion instead of cheese. The only reason I mention that is because I got home and started writing this review and they're half gone now. Checking out: For one brief second I thought they didn't sell tabloids in the impulse buying section, like a boss. There are magazines by the gum, candy, and gift cards where you stand in line, but I didn't see anything with outright lies on the cover or anything that I feel could eventually ruin a young girl's life which I (ask anyone) regularly physically remove and flip them over and put them back so people will just see an advert for Virginia Slims instead of awkward photos of celebrities typically taken as they are in the middle saying of a word. But then I see they have them in a separate place, above the conveyor belts, which is nice, and I decide that keeping them at that height will at least keep your 5 year old from asking who Jonbenet Ramsey is. Kudos Publix, and shame on anyone who buys that scourge on journalistic integrity in America. The cashier was friendly and the girl bagging my groceries showed me an awesome life hack I can't believe I hadn't thought of: to get your empty reusable bags to stay open roll the opening over on itself like you would your pant leg. This Publix is one step up from the Shallowford Rd location. Instead of being total creepos, the employees at this store are more like zombies. Good luck getting service at the Deli Counter or Bakery. On the three occasions I have attempted to get assistance here there was no one in site. The first time was understandable, it was 8:00 on a weeknight. After about 10 minutes of waiting a manager happened to walk by. He didn't help but paged the person who was supposed to be working the bakery. I think it would have been far more affective for the manager to just take charge and provide service. The second time was on a Saturday at noon and the lines at both the Deli and Bakery counters were ridiculous. The sole person behind the counter called for help three times while I was there. Finally the zombie manager arrived to help out. Several people left the store because they had been waiting so long. Not a good way to conduct business. The third time I waited forever was on a Saturday at 3 pm. No one at the counter. Waited for about ten minutes then left. As other reviewers have mentioned this is a rather small store. Its a little difficult to navigate during peak hours and the patrons of this store seem to have no common courtesy - your shopping cart doesn't need to be in the middle of the aisle, please push it off to one side - thank you. The only reason I continue to go to this Publix is because the location is convenient to my abode. And oh yeah, this parking lot totally sucks. I don't know what idiot engineer threw this plan together but it sucks. Parking is even more ridiculous on the weekends when there are good shows playing at the Tara. read more

I shop here a few times a week since it is in the neighborhood. Richard the cashier is very friendly; I try to get in his line if I notice him working. Josh and the other Pharmacist are super fast and friendly (so pleasant)! The deli is sometimes backed up but will take my order and leave it on the counter for me to pick up after I've completed my shopping. I almost never visit here at night but did notice a security guard on duty when I once made a late stop. Bravo for safety. read more

I love this Publix. It stays very busy but still quick and easy to get out of. The keep the place clean and organized.

The parking lot is a mess. The store is small. The staff is inattentive, except for 1 guy in the deli (one of the youngest guys working) and 3 cashiers. I think their policy is to never have more than 2 lanes open at one time. There is an abbreviated selection of everything. If you go about 2 miles up Lavista to the Publix that's on N Druid Hills at the Toco Hills plaza, you'll see how little has been invested in this publix. It's really too bad. Me personally, I'm fed up with this place. I can't count how many times I've been supplanted in line waiting at the deli or the bakery. I will say this, there are some pretty females walking around but that's about it. read more

The parking situation at this publix is an absolute nightmare!! It took me 20 minutes just to find a parking space to pull into. They share a small parking lot with a bunch of other places including a movie theater. If I lived in the area I would travel out of my way to a store that had better parking. I also think that publix is very pricey compared to Kroger! read more

Small publix that has everything you need and some things you don't (like long lines). I come here during off hours and never have a problem, but if you come on a Sunday afternoon, good luck! Produce section is pretty small, but they do what they can with the space they have. If you're big on organic produce you'll most likely leave without a few items on your list, unfortunately. Same with the seafood counter. Overall, though, it's clean and the employees are friendly. It helps that I can walk here too, of course. read more

I have to say the customer service here is great! I had a bit of trouble with a money order with Western Union, and they went above and beyond to help me. Their store manager, Joe was very personable, Torre was also fabulous and super helpful, and Jeff was able to make all the headache with my money orders go away. I would give it five stars. I'm giving it three. I would give it 2.5 stars were such an option. I consistently have the same issue with the women employees in the deli. The guys who work in the deli are always great and I've learned to avoid asking the women in the deli for "shaved turkey" because they do not want to do it. They scowl at the request. I get that it's extra effort to shave the turkey but the style is a personal preference for my family. I politely went back and forth with a woman today who obtusely REFUSED to shave the BoarsHead turkey. She said "thin" was as low as she would cut it. She had HUGE attitude as usuaI so I said no the thin is bit what I need and that i would have to drive to another Publix (N. Decatur) or Kroger at Toco bc they always make shaved turkey. The woman in the deli actually said "OK" and tossed the "thin slices" into the trash with major attitude and did not attempt to provide the service at Cheshire Publix--not even a faint attempt. I'll speak with the deli manager another time when she is not there. Really frustrating to have to drive to a different Publix for a service advertised by BoarsHead WITH PICTURES literally glued to the glass in front of the deli meats and cheeses. read more

This review is only for this particular Publix branch (I still think publix is way better than Kroger). This review is due to the actions of a single employee; a cashier. I was greeted very nicely by a publix employee upon entering the store. The store itself was very bright, clean, and well stocked. After grabbing the items from my very short shopping list, I went to the express lane to check out. The cashier began scanning my items. After scanning my second item, she made a noise and began waving her hand around as if she cut her finger (on what she cut her finger I have no idea). She then stuck her entire finger in her mouth. Then she continued to touch my items to scan them. I was quite disgusted and disappointed at the cashiers actions. I hope publix reads this and trains their employees better. read more

I used to always prefer publix oved kroger....until i moved close to this location. i hste to say it but there are so many negatives. Parking is always a pain in the rear and the selection here is so so so slI'm. I usually refrain from promoting big businesses. They have their own army of marketing geniuses. But, having moved to the South from New York City, I get giddy every time I see a decent grocery. This city of ours truly lacks the amenity that other metropolises take for granted. Yes, we lack Krogers. Pathmarks. Gristedes. Atlanta needs more grocery shops. So, I jumped and clapped like a Japanese anime girl when I spotted a new Publix at the Cheshire Bridge strip mall. You know, by Tara. It's not just any. It is big. [Big ain't always better, but in this case, big works.] Clean, brightly-lit and full of urban pioneers [hint: white, young professionals], I stop by just to sniff the aroma of newness. I, sometimes, pick up a pack of Special K's strawberry-flavored protein bars and Bumblee Bee[?]-brand canned tunas preserved in olive oil [the kind you'd only find only in Italy until a few years ago]. I like the fact that Cheshire Bridge is still gritty, full of working-class pedestrians. Otherwise, I'd feel too guilty about gentrification. But, as spoiled, self-righteous and Target-loving urbanites, we need our amenities. We just can't be bothered with inconveniences, thank you. read more

The staff in this store aren't like the warm, friendly, eager to help staff you see in their commercials. While you find a few nice staff here and there who greet you in the aisles, I've met many cashiers and others who are curt and not too friendly or helpful. I think they are improving because during a recent visit, a clerk went out of his way to open a box and find me product that was gone from the shelves. The store is clean and has a generally good selection. I like how their buy one get one free items are upfront and you usually will find a cereal product that is included in the sale. read more

Publix is the triumph of marketing over substance -- they are always, and I mean always, out of some basic fundamental product that no well managed grocery store should run out of, the Cheshire Bridge store had no fresh green beans tonight, and no Springer Mountain whole chickens -- how can a grocery store be out of a major brand of chicken? Also, this location scams you on prices -- they will post a sale price at the fish counter, but they always conveniently "forget" to put the sale price in the computer. Skip Publix -- it's not worth the hassle! read more
