There's a store manager(Eves) that's working here right now currently who is probably of the Haitian descent I would think or the Caribbean decent, which I have nothing against cuz I'm also mixed but the purpose of this review is that he on purpose caused me discomfort and embarrassment in front of the whole store because of him not wanting me to have the benefit of the clearance I'm taking down purposely to sign for the discounted food so that when I got to the checkout it was more than it had been just two days before and it's on a clearance rack? What an awful experience I had I was so uncomfortable. I did not feel I could ask for anything on my sub. The lady that was making my sub took about 30 minutes just to do two of them. There was no one there was no line. I believe her name is Taiwanda and she is very rude. She made me feel so bad. I couldn't eat my sandwiches. She had no idea. My fiancé was waiting for me in the car that just had surgery and I needed to get out as soon as possible and this took forever. I would not recommend anybody going here for any type of customer service. They are lacking customer service. Mostly this is an ok Publix, but I had a negative experience with an employee on Thursday who should be reprimanded. I was looking for items in the frozen food case. He was nearby mopping the floor. He suddenly shouted "you can't be there, I'm mopping up water. Do you want something out of there?" I told him I did and he again rudely shouted "what do you want? You can't stand there. Tell me what you want!" I told him and he grabbed my items and threw them into my basket. As I walked away he turned to me and said "you can't just go there" referring to the freezer case. I responded "I can and will go there if you expect me to do my grocery shopping. That's why I'm here! I walked away. What ever happened to "be careful of the water on the floor?" Can I help you with something? Here, let me get that for you? That's the type of customer service we should expect when spending our dollars to pay that employee's wages. I'm getting so tired of bad behavior being rampant and tolerated everywhere. People need to be held accountable for bad behavior, rewarded for good service, and trained in good service. Quick review because it's a grocery store. We have been in the area for a few days and grocery stores seemed to be lacking, so I am guessing for the neighborhood, this place is outstanding. The store was bright and clean and easy to navigate, as it should be. I didn't see anything special about this place, but we weren't there to really grocery shop. I am always impressed with Publix supermarkets and this one was no different. I was in Miami for a week and needed groceries to sustain me while I was there. I stopped by my first evening in town and was happily surprised to find pretty much everything I was looking for. I was excited to find ripe, inexpensive avocados, ready made egg-crepes, tons of smashed avocado cup options, fresh salad mixes and veggies, and lots of great dips. I was most happy to get a bag of pre-cut celery in a resealable bag! Best option for having veggies stay fresh across a week! Kudos to this "vintage" publix for being my place to shop during the ramp up to COVID-19 closures. Were they out of wipes- everyone is. But I had a place to park, a cart, I wasn't over crowded in the aisles, umm Ben and Jerry's was BOGO yo!!! My cashier and bagger were very pleasant and didn't rush all of us in line together (thanks for the social distancing). There are other locations technically closer to me, and a few other grocery options in the area, but they were all over run by tourists and bratty humans. I had to make a quick stop and decided to come here to pick up a few essential items I needed. The aisles are definitely more narrow than the new Publix a few blocks away but this location was right on my path so I came in for old times sake. The produce variety isn't as plentiful as you'd expect but it's got enough to get you by. Luckily, they do have online ordering available for your deli meat and sandwiches so waiting is a thing of the past. They have a pretty ample parking lot without any hassles which is totally important in this area. It's not as renovated as the Bay road location but walking in and out is a bit easier due to its smaller location. This Publix serves most of the western slice of mid SoBe and has everything you need to fully stock your fridge and pantry. The specials change weekly so keep an eye out for the BOGO deals. After all, shopping here is a pleasure. read more

This Publix looks very cool from the outside. It looks like one of their original stores from the 50s or 60s, which is a bit unique as opposed to some of their newer, larger and more up to date and modern stores. That being said, inside, the entire store looks old, tired, dirty, poorly maintained and run down. I had 3 friends visiting from LA recently. They were in town for UMF, were staying on the beach and they mentioned on the way home from dinner that they'd like to stop and grab some snack foods and beverages for their hotel room. I took them here since we had dinner on Lincoln Road and this is the closest grocery store I could think of. Once we got inside, I was embarassed that I'd brought them here! While they found everything they needed, the place was pretty sad looking inside, their selection was limited, and to boot, their prices were pretty high, especially considing the condition of the store itself. My suggestion to Publix would be to close this location down and encourage people to visit the larger one located a few blocks away, or to keep the cool, retro looking facade and signage, and gut the interior completely and start over. read more

This Publix puts the "fun" back in "functional". Stop here every year to get my pre-marathon supplies (bagels, coffee, peanut butter) and never disappoints. Parking is at a premium but they have what I need and I've always been able to get in and out lickety-split. The guy in the bakery yesterday was particularly helpful. This was a Very small old style Publix. I was quite surprised to see the design being quite original when I drove up. It has a nice sized parking lot, unique for this area. Usually Publix's near the beach have garages. This publix seemed to have all the basic sections as other locations. Though cramped, I found my way to the seafood, deli, and hot food section. I had a good ole Publix Sub made for lunch, items were just as fresh and delicious as usual. The staff were very nice and patient while taking my order. Built in the Googie style of architecture, this Publix has stood the test of time, and witnessed the different eras and phases that the beach has gone through. It has seen celebrities who stayed in nearby hotels, remodeling, even some actual celebrity patrons! I like the convenience it offers me, being the closest Publix to my home. Another plus it has going in its favor is the ease in parking. No need to pay for parking or becoming dizzy going up, up, up in a garage with ramps full of speed-crazy people who take the curves at 25 mph, resulting in a near miss of a head-on collection. Here, there are plenty of lots, and I have yet to see them all fill up at any given time. The produce section is well-stocked and the items appeared fresh. What it has going against it though are the narrow aisles, as evidenced yesterday by some inconsiderate women who parked their carts to chit chat and created a bottleneck by having me and 2 other people patiently wait for them to finish their conversation. In some aisles, you can barely fit 2 carts side by side without knocking products off the shelves or bumping into the other cart, but in other aisles (like this one), getting 2 carts side by side is impossible. Another thing that's not so great is the fact that unlike the Publix on SoFi, there's no hot foods section. I'm not even sure where they keep the rotisserie oven, as I could not see it when scanning around for fresh rotisserie chicken. I had to resign myself to the lone chicken sitting on the shelf for dinner. I guess that unlike other locations, they don't prepare many chickens, so the risk of not finding one runs high. I consider myself fortunate for finding the very last one! Items like mac and cheese, which would be in hot trays and served fresh to order in other locations, were already packaged and refrigerated. I did not want to buy a pound of mac and cheese for the kiddo, so that was a bit of a bummer. The deli itself is also quite small (not just the counter and the merchandise on display but also, the waiting area), and a bit of a wild west. Although there were tickets and people would take a number, the employees behind the counter would yell numbers randomly, like "32" followed by "43". Huh? They wouldn't update the number ticker either after helping the next customer in line, who knows why. A guy almost got into a fight with me as he claimed he was "37" but my ticket said "37". When I asked him to produce his ticket, he became quiet. Ha! Then, a Russian man and his wife got angry that I was next in line, as they were "38" and had already started placing their order when I interrupted them politely...sorry dude, not my fault, should have gotten there earlier! He cursed me out in Russian, I am convinced of it. To end the review on a positive note, the manager saw a line building up and quickly had one of the employees open up a register to ring me up, so kudos for the attentive service. In conclusion: if you need to buy produce and grocery items, this is a good way to quickly run in, get what you need, and get out but you'll need some patience if navigating with a cart due to small aisles and inconsiderate people. If you need hot food items or something from the deli or the bakery (which is also small), best to save your time and head over to one of the larger Publix locations (there's a brand new one around 64th and Collins that is HUGE!), so as to avoid disappointment. In between, there are many Publix locations, and I have shopped at all of them, (OK, maybe that's an exageration). I've been a loyal shopper of Publix for YEARS. My brother and sister BOTH work for the company, and both are proud to say so because it's a great company with a fantastic reputation. And the reason Publix has become the South Florida grocery juggernaut they are, is due to the simple fact that they always bend over backwards to please their customers. You go in almost any Publix, (stress the word "almost"), and you can expect/receive awesome service. No customer request is too bizarre. If they can do it, they will. That's why they rule. And as any loyal Publix shopper knows, nobody has anything on the Publix deli, namely, their insanely great chicken tenders, (y'all knows what I'm talking 'bout!). In fact, these things have become a veritable Publix staple. So, a few weeks ago, I was leaving work, (W Hotel South Beach) around 5:30PM after one hell of a hectic day, and decided what would really cheer me up was a World Famous Publix Chicken Tender Sub, with all the fixins!! So, seeing as this Publix is located on my way to I-195, I decided to swing in and grab one. You can tell from the outside that this is an older store compared to the more recent MEGA stores that've been popping up all over the tri-county area in recent years, but really I dug the retro vibe. After making my way to the Deli, much to my dismay, I see no chicken tenders...actually...I don't see much in the way of anything. "No biggie", I thinks to meself, "They're probably making more now." I then noticed there were no other customers around, which I found odd, as any other Publix deli is usually slammed at 5:30 on a weekday, (but, in hindsight, it makes total sense now). The 2 deli employees were conversing together, as I waited patiently to be acknowledged like a welcome patron, because Publix has spoiled me rotten with their awesome service. Yet, these 2 just continue to ignore me, even though I'm standing 3 feet from them. "Uh...hello?!", I ask. "Yeah.", was the guy's response. "Yeah." You can probably guess what the answer was on the chicken tenders...they didn't have any made, and they weren't making any. Their attitudes were sh*t. I found a manager, and lo and behold, he had a sh*t attitude as well! I walked out of that store in shock!! "F*CK THAT PUBLIX!", I thought to myself, as I drove away, with an empty belly and frown on my face. Cut to a week later. Same exact situation. Hectic day, 5:30PM, Publix Chicken Tender Sub, blah, blah, blah... Now, I'm a pretty laidback guy...I am! So, I figured, I'd check out this Publix again, because certainly that prior evening was just a FLUKE!! Maybe those 2 doucheba, err....gentlemen, weren't having the best day. OK. We've all been there. So, I go back...different deli workers!!! "Yay!", I think initially. Then I see it: No chicken tenders. "Boo!", I think finally. And to top it off, when I asked these people about the chicken tenders, they give me the same sh*t attitiude. I left empty handed, vowing on my ancestors' never to return. I have been terribly disappointed by this Publix. I moved to Miami Beach in July, 2014 and this is my closest grocery store. I regularly look at expiration dates, but even with a cautious degree of scrutiny, I've been burned many times, and apparently take for granted that it's someone's job to remove expired items from the shelves. I bought eye drops that were expired by nearly a year and just recently checked the expiration date of the salsa I've been eating, and it said November, 2013 - 8 months before I moved to Miami Beach.. There have been times where I wanted to buy plain Greek yogurt and could not find one that hadn't expired. And when I came back a few days later, the same expired yogurts were still on display, and we aren't talking days, they had been expired for several weeks. Is anybody getting paid to remove expired items? It's scary to think that you could be taking home food, medications, or products that have been expired for nearly a year, and it's a terrible waste of money. Additionally, the workers move very slowly and the customer service is fair. Some of the positives are that the parking lot is big enough so there are always available spots and it is rarely super crowded. read more
