Publix...where shopping is a pleasure. Not quite. I'm giving this location 3 stars, because it is clean, organized and the other employees I encountered were very pleasant and nice. But I stopped in just to order a quick sub, I noticed there were zero carts available for anyone which was odd. I feel bad for people who were going in to actually grocery shop, they would have needed to do it with only a basket. So taking a star off for that. The older lady at the sub counter looked over it. There was nobody in line, so it wasn't like it was busy. I asked for a jerk turkey sub. She likes ok but what kind of bread do you want? I proceeded to say white. She then said half or whole? I'll do half. I told her mayo on both sides, she looked annoyed. She asked what cheese, I said Gouda, she then looked annoyed again even though Gouda is what the sandwich comes with. I added some other toppings and then said bacon. She was like "you want bacon?? I said yes, ma'am. She proceeds to get the bacon out of the drawer and sticks in the oven for not even 10 seconds, so the bacon is flimsy and fatty not crispy at all. (Bacon comes on this sandwich so I'm not sure why it was such a bother.) she wraps it and hands it to me, without even asking if I wanted anything else on it. I said thank you and took the sandwich but walked away confused like why was this lady so bothered. No "you're welcome, or have a nice day" nothing. All in all, taking another star off because she is the wrong person to be customer facing because she's not pleasant at all. She should be in the back somewhere. Also-there is a very elderly lady in the parking lot gathering the carts. I feel like she should be working indoors in the AC and maybe have someone younger in the heat outside for liability purposes...and because it's the right thing to do. Would not come back to this location especially since there's another Publix across the street that has plenty of carts and friendly deli people. read more

This place is just amazing! The staff actually seems to enjoy their jobs and being at work, instead of the opposite they I've experienced at other locations. Management takes pride in the community and it is clear that the staff respects them and emulates their beliefs. Very disappointed. This is the second time my mom has bought meat from Publix that was spoiled. As soon as we opened the package, it had a terrible smell that made the whole kitchen stink. We've always trusted Publix for quality, but this keeps happening and it's really disappointing. Please check your products better before putting them out for sale customers shouldn't have to deal with this twice. They have great quality of meats from Boars Head and the bread is fresh! My fave is the "Italian" hoagie. Be sure to grab a fountain drink and chips for the meal. Always my favorite Publix to shop at. I feel it has more to offer in both deli and bakery than most Publix is in my area. I always feel I can find everything that I need here and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. It's a plus that they also have the cooking school that my husband and I often go to to learn new skills as well as enjoy a date night together. We've been going to this Publix for over 20 years even though there are 2 locations closer to where we live. The selection has always been the best and most products are well-stocked. The customer service used to be good, too. However, there is one employee in customer service who is very unpleasant. At this store, the customer is not right if you bring up any issues (such as telling her there are expired products on the shelf or if the baggers mix up customers' groceries repeatedly). We're going to change to another location where the customer service is friendly and helpful. read more

Honestly of the worst Publix I've been to. Their deli is slow, inefficient, and inaccurate to say the least. And this has been the regular experience for at least the past 6 months. I have also never had an order that I didn't have to wait 25 extra minutes for, that tasted great, and was made correctly. It doesn't taken 13min to make a single sub. And yes...I timed it. This is a very nice Publix. Its in the Dr. Phillip's area after all! So, its well maintained, the layout is excellent and the selection is fantastic. Its also what I call a "neighborhood" Publix as opposed to some Publix stores that cater more to tourists. So, its good here. (They still have a few tourist items but nothing like other Publix stores in the area.) When you first walk in, you will see TONS of Greenwise products to your right. They have a whole section dedicated to this product line. At other Publix stores, you are usually shopping the aisles for these items mixed in with others. So, that is a bonus for this particular store. Just to the left of the Greenwise area, there is flower section ... and its has a great selection. There is usually someone there to help you as well if you want an arrangement, etc. This is something you don't see at many other Publix stores either. You will usually find a large cold case of pre-arranged flowers or buckets with a few flower selections at "less sophisticated" stores. Ooooh la la! Because this is a nicer Publix store, you will also find that the layout of the store is well thought out, the selection of products is expansive (ice cream, eggs, deli selections, meat, bakery items, etc.), the employees are really friendly and the place is clean. They even have a really nice wine section ... gulp, gulp! As far as it goes in the world of Publix stores, this one has it going on. As for the four stars instead of five? ... well, that is because in my experience with this store, they don't have enough check out folks available and lines will build up. I was just there a couple of days ago and they one had two lines open, one of those was only for 10 items or less. There was a huge line of people with full baskets. It took a while for anyone to notice before they opened another check out line. Saying that, I experience this at other Publix stores in the area ... so, hopefully they will hire a few more people. Simply the best Publix in the area, which says a lot, since there's like four. You'll also notice this is the cleanest of all the grocery stores in the area. The customer base also has that minimum level of human decency that results in them returning shopping carts. In my opinion, if you ever arrive at a grocery store & find the amount of abandoned shopping carts exceeds roughly 25% of the cars present, I'd look elsewhere. That level of decay is like brain worms & will have long ago infected the workers of the store. read more

Sentimental moment Yelp: As a little girl I would come to this Publix (early 2000's) and I always recall the woman in the bakery being so sweet... my sister and I would go get our cookie it was the highlight of our shopping trip, when we would go to the checkout line there was one bagger an older guy I wish I knew his name that was always so pleasant made conversation with us and always asked if my mom needed help going to the car. Publix made an impression that lasted with me now that I am in my twenties. I now make it a point to shop at Publix. Lived in Orlando again in 2012 and shopped at this location, it has always been a great experience. There are three Publix locations within a half mile to my house, so I generally stick with the closest of the three, but this one is still very nice. Had to come here for medicine for my daughter (which by the way was free because it was antibiotics...didn't know Publix offered that service!) and since I had to wait I decided to walk around and grab some stuff. Staff was nice everywhere I went...the pharmacy, in the isles, the deli and the cashier. They all seemed cheerful and were helpful. My daughter was a bit cranky at check out and the cashier asked someone in customer service to bring her a balloon (nobody at any store has done that before, ever). We have been regular customers of this Publix store since it opened. We love this store and the great selection of fresh produce and delicious bakery items they have to offer. My hubby and kids will tell you Publix Subs are the best in the world! I don't eat subs, so we can take their word for it. This store is always clean, well-stocked and the employees are friendly, and ready to help in any way possible. We like that this store and chain is a community leader in serving those in need. Throughout the year, Publix has many charitable campaigns to raise money for organizations that help people that need help, such as their 'bags of thanksgiving' which they donate to families in need during the holidays. That's just one of MANY things Publix does to give back to the community, but there are many, many more. I know for a FACT, Publix donates literally TONS of fresh meat, fish, chicken and pork to Second Harvest Food Bank. I am a volunteer at Second Harvest and I am there when the Publix donations arrive. We sort the donations and get it ready to give to agencies Second Harvest serves. It's a LOT of food and all of it looks delicious! One of the best things about Publix are the subs. The PubSubs. I have experienced a variety of PubSubs and I love sharing their deliciousness with out-of-towners who don't have Publix in their area. I brought some friends from NY while we were visiting Universal. Quick dinner after the parks. I have witness many a PubSub be made. And I must admit, this evening I witnessed the most disappointing and half-asses sandwich making in all my years on this Publix-blessed earth. She half-heartedly tossed my lettuce onto my sandwich, lackadaisically strew the rest of my topping on there, put no effort into folding the sandwich. When I opened it back in my room, all of the contents spilled out. I have never been more saddened and disappointed in my life. I tried to make a birthday cake with them , it took three days for me to get someone on the phone waiting for a callback from a cake decorator , that never called I still have to call . They don't just direct you to an aisle, they walk with you! If I lived her, this would be my store of choice. Grocery stores across America could learn from this store. I love this Dr. Philips Publix! It's near where I work - but not anywhere near my house - so I don't do my main grocery shopping there. But the feature they have that makes it so great is the "Publix Deli Cafe". Basically, it's just a seating area right next to the deli where you can dine on your delicious Publix sub. I'm a huge fan of the Publix sub... but it often loses some of its appeal if I have to take it in the car and drive 10+ minutes away before I can eat it. The sub tastes best when it's as fresh as possible... and that means eating it right after it's made for you. And you can do that at the "Deli Cafe". It's a simple concept really... but it makes a huge difference and now that I know this option exists... I will be eating there more often. And the subs themselves are also better at this Publix. The pickle slices are the fresh, crisp kind... not the yellow, soggy, "I've been sitting forever in this dill brine" kind. And they offer fresh cucumber pieces with their subs - an option I've never seen at any other Publix. It makes the whole sub taste fresher. read more

I'm a Floridian, so I know if I go to Publix and be polite and kind the same energy will be given in return...not at this location. I just wanted to grab two subs for dinner and Kiara at the Deli did not seem happy about it. It's 8:45pm so I know it will not be fully stocked so I know to be patient, yet even being kind and patient lead to me feeling like I was a thorn in this woman's side. The moment I walked up she mentioned they were out of white bread. That was not a issue at all, I wanted wheat bread for both subs and said such...she grabbed a different bread, so I kindly mention I wanted wheat, that seemed to upset her. Then asked for turkey and a Italian. The Italian meats were not fully prepped at that time so I am willing to wait. When she comes back I begin to describe my subs. I tried to start with one at a time but she wanted to jump back and forth between them both. I have one sub directions messaged to me so it would be a lot easier to just do one at a time so I politely explain that and that also seemed to bother her. I luckily get through my personal sandwich order and for the second I ask if they have sliced avocado. Her reply is I have to go get it from the produce section. So I do and hand it to her and she says "so what you want me to do with this?" I asked if she could put sliced avocado on the sub, and if that was something they did not do then it was ok and I would gladly do so personally later on. This again seemed to irritate her, so I just kept my smile and tossed kept my manners while this person just made me feel like me asking her to make me a sub was hellish for her. I don't know if it was a bad day or if my presence just upset this women but I felt like I was legit ruining her whole day. It was a very clean Publix though. read more
