Publix is the premier supermarket here in the southeastern part of the United States and this location is a great example of why Publix is head and shoulders above their competitors. The fresh prepared food section is better than any grocery store I've ever seen. Even better that we were in a beach town. I had a sandwich made and the meat was sliced fresh. There are free samples for kids and adults in the bakery dept. Staff were friendly and helpful. read more

The store has specials now and then in the BOGO category which is a nice gesture. The only complaint I have is their Sourdough bread. My favorite type of bread due to it's fermented yeast dough process, which is better for you than regular white breads. High quality breads that I get elsewhere take longer to brown in the toaster due to its inherent low sugar content recipe. Publix sourdough bread browns as fast as white bread which means it's loaded with extra sugars. The sugars cause the carmalization. read more

We stopped by here to see what kind of snacks we could find, along with some coffee for the mornings as well as oatmeal for the morning start and who knows what else we will find. They have my hubby's favorite flamin hot Fritos and La Croix Keylime waters too. Grabbed some makeup items, since they had some I was looking for. My FIL grabbed some coffee mate for his morning coffee, mixed berry jam, butter for his morning toast on wheat or cinnamon raisin toast, which he grabbed down the bread aisle as well as small personal apple pie. We grabbed some oatmeal for our breakfast and some Cold brew Starbucks coffee for my husband's morning drinks. read more

Wow, super busy....everyone was out to get what was needed to celebrate.. .especially since they were going to be closed for Christmas Day. Over all the shelves were pretty much full. ....though the prices gave certainly gone UP ! Two red delicious apples came to $2 43---- Four ears medium size Corn on the cob $5.15.... (not sure what those in WH are saying) but thats outrageous!!! (Not Publix fault either) Store was clean and as neat as it could be. Special priced items featured in there weekly ad, were mark accordingly. Nice finds.... Staff was friendly and helpful. Seafood counter was very busy...with lots of options. Cashiers and baggers were rolling along , very helpful indeed. read more

It makes me really sad to update this review. Because it is really 3 stars for me. This is our go to place when we get to Destin. I must say that my deli experience was excellent and what got this the 4th star. Super nice and helpful folks that work really long hours. The deli is open when the store is open. What knocks this down is the prices. We bought Coca Cola for $3 cheaper at Walmart...that is significant. I know I was paying for convince and small store experience, but for staples I am heading to Wal-Mart just like I do at home. (It is just 2 miles down the road in Destin.) The workers were friendly and checkers were efficient. We have two Publix coming to Lexington KY and if they are higher than Kroger, I doubt I will be there often. I will review those when they get here. read more

Shopping at Publix while on Christmas vacation with my family. The store was clean and well stocked with some of every thing. They had several different kinds of side items to go with your Christmas meal. Creamed spinach, mac and cheese, corn soufflé and corn bread dressing just to name a few. They have an automated pineapple corer, all kinds of cakes, pastries, and cookies. I ordered a meat platter for our Christmas Eve dinner, it was ready at the correct time and was exactly what we needed. The customer service was on point and friendly. Great store but massively overpriced! With inflation hurting us all, Publix took their pricing to a whole new level of busting our senior budget in a hurry! If customer service was better, or prices just "reasonable", it would probably be a high 4? Cool store but customer service way short of needed employees! You might as well forget it during peak hours? I was told they would have my order finished when I came back from shopping but when I spent over a half hour, I came back to "excuse me, where is my luncheon meat order?" Answer from the 2 employees anywhere behind the counter....."Sorry sir, what's your name? I don't see anything under that name Mike?" That was experience #2 after shopping at the other location in Destin Florida area? I love me a Publix supermarket and really wish that they would come up north. We stayed in Destin Florida for a week and visited this location nearly every day for their heat and eat meals and also grocery Staples and drinks. I really liked the variety of their grab and go meals as well as they're made to order Subs. My husband appreciated their Fried Chicken and macaroni and cheese. Everyone we encountered every day was super friendly we never were expected to bag our groceries which I loved because up north we never have baggers. All of their food was fresh as we also got some produce and some booze and the store was very clean laid out nicely and well lit. I have nothing but love for Publix grocery store chain read more

Part of my job is getting groceries for a family I work for... I use Instacart and or go into the store myself. I can't explain to you how rude some of your employees are when getting checked out. I shop for 10+ size family. I live here and I completely understand being frustrated with tourists but some of us just have a job to do! The people bagging are so under trained! It's actually pathetic, I've had to step in a handful of times and tell them to stop bagging because they are crushing chips bags and or more delicate items. Do better!!! read more

Verdict: A hidden gem for sandwiches. I'm a fan of a good sub so I enjoy the opportunity to get one from Publix when I'm in the area. You don't normally think of a grocery store as a place to get a good sandwich so I'll use my Yelp powers to get the word out. You should give these a shot. My top choice would be the jerk turkey sub on wheat. The turkey sub was another good one. Lots of food for a reasonable price and it'll beat what Subway is offering any day. The people here are always nice and work hard to make sure you get a good looking sandwich. The taste is really up to you because it's made to order. Get what you like and enjoy. read more

Publix should be proud of this location. The store had a spotless appearance from the time you get out of your car. We had never stepped foot in the store but had absolutely no problem finding the items that we were shopping for. When we entered the store we admired a display of high quality beach towels with really pretty embroidered "Destin" references on them. Publix always seems to be a little classier than the other grocery stores. Their produce looked great the cashier at checkout was intelligent, courteous, and fast. Cue the "Wild Thing" song, replace Wild Thing with Publix... Yeah it doesn't rhyme, but I really love Publix, and get downright giddy about it when I go on vacation to Florida, knowing that I will be able to enjoy this super market. No, it's not the mecca or fancy grocery markets that they have in Houston and Portland that make you swoon at the 15 varieties of onion and fresh flowers, but it's what your every day grocery store should aspire to be like. My biggest pet peeves in any grocery store is not finding produce or herbs that I need, and long lines at check out. This is a constant problem at the local grocery stores here in NOLA, but not Publix! They were stacked with a serious produce section as well as herbs in bags, tubes, bushels and "lightly dried" (SQUEAL!!). A lot of their produce was also buy one get one free or other great deals (on avocados, when do you ever get a deal on an avocado?!) for the Memorial Day Weekend. They even had these cute little recipe cards near the produce section (see picture). Love that. Brilliant marketing that encourages sales while also helps your guests make some delicious side dish. Their other stock was definitely sufficient, store was clean, and the lines were quick with hospitable service (we asked our groceries to be split between three cards). ...and if you haven't had a Publix sub, you're missing out. Serious goodness and a great value. I enjoyed a 12 in. Italian (two meals for me) with a good bit of meat, fluffy bread, crunchy veggies...perfect to enjoy on the beach with all my BOGO fruit. Publix is another grocery chain that I wish existed in California! This was the nearest grocery store to our rental house during our stay in Destin, so we came here many times for our food shopping needs. It's a big, well-lit, typical American supermarket with very friendly workers in green. The little details, however, make me a big fan! There's DAIYA CHEESE! Vegannaise! All the big name (and little name) soy milk, almond milk, and rice milk brands! Essentially what I'm saying is...is that I came to a little town by the sea that's known for fishing and seafood, and there's an abundance of vegan specialty items nearby! I was a very happy little vegan that weekend. Things can be a little confusing and hard to find. I needed pine nuts and the employees pointed out 3 separate locations to find them. They also have a well-stocked and organized win selection. For your partying nights, they sell liquor in a smaller section just outside their front door. read more

Have to agree with everyone else, this Publix is on Point from the cashiers to the stockers. Their team members could easily be annoyed by all of the tourists, as it seems many businesses in the area are. (This blows my mind, but I digress) If you're looking for absolutely bottom of barrel pricing and service, go to Wal*Mart. That said, there are much more costly grocery joints in Destin (Whole Foods, Fresh Market to name a few) I'd say their pricing is somewhere between the Wal*Mart spectrum and Target Spectrum. If you are willing to pay a little more and have a wider selection of specialty and health items, Publix is where to go. read more

Yum! Very good key lime pie, and mango key lime pie! Surprising from a grocery store, but yes, it is good, and only $7-8! MUCH better than Donut Hole's! They also have a good selection of stuff, a lot of International foods, I could have gone crazy in here. The deli is the slowest every time I've been there. Today there were three people slicing meats and cheese. Two were slicing for the sandwich department and the prepackaged display. One person taking orders from people waiting in line. Eight people waiting in line. The one person waiting on customers had no idea what she was doing. I don't blame her because she was sweet and doing her best. I blame management for putting an untrained person in that position. I was very nice and patient with her because I knew she was trying. I asked for 1/2 lb Liverwurst and1/4 lb olive loaf. She had no idea what I was talking about. From the time that I got through the line and placed my order it took 17 minutes to get those two things. She had to come back to ask me questions four times. How much of each? What kind of meat. How much of each. Finally how thick the slice? I have complained before to the manager and my wife has complained to the manager a couple of times. We still go there because there are few alternatives in Destin. We are now going to try reporting to the Corporate office. We will see what happens. read more
