The Fresh Market is one of the only "nicer" grocery stores in the Destin area... we stopped in to grab a few essentials while visiting. This store is small and sparsely stocked... with some essentials and "boutique" style snacks. Mostly very expensive prices ($4 for an energy drink, $10 for pretzel chips). PLEASE BEWARE I was charged twice for items I did not purchase. As I approached the checkout line the cashier scanned almost every one of my items twice. I personally felt like this was deliberate and intentional due to the fact my girlfriend went to the same cashier before me and didn't have any issues. This same situation happened to a friend of mine that is also a local. After realizing that I paid twice as much, I went back into the store and demanded a refund for the items I did not have. I was issued the refund, but if I was not paying attention I would have lost my money. I would be mindful of the cashiers at this establishment. read more

We spend several months each fall/winter in Destin and have always enjoyed FM, however, I was surprised when my husband brought home a $13 box of Brussel sprouts that were the worst slimy, insect eaten, black to the core sprouts I've seen. Instead of taking them straight back and not realizing just how bad they were, I started cutting-at least 2/3 ended up in the garbage. Later that week, I visited the store, saw sprouts so black in the package I was shocked. Much of the other vegetables looked poorly too. I won't be shopping for "fresh" here again. Walmart is far superior. The only great thing about that visit-we were offered a taste of the $16 Dubai bar. We are still wondering what the big deal is. Texan here visiting the great state of Florida for a month and can't eat out every day cause of the waistline and the pocketbook... I try to eat as clean as possible. Its not always easy while traveling. I will be in Florida for 31 days so I needed to stock up. This is the closest health store I could find near our condo. Besides the WFoods. I alsys like to support the little guy over the big box places so we stopped in. This store is amazing! This store is super clean. This store has everything! The folks here are so nice and eager to help. I could hang out here all day and browse every section. Why the 4 stars you ask? Because unfortunately everything was so darn expensive. I only got a few things here and had to head over to big box competitor for the majority of things. I would have purchased all of my items here if it was only $1 more here and there but everything was way higher. I know in today's economy its hard to keep the prices down. I will be back for produce and my favorite mineral waters while here in town. I would totally recommend this place for the selection of produce, organics...deli, wines...everything... the customer service... so eager to help and the store is so well organized and stocked. I just wish I had the extra cash to not have to budget. One thing that I will add that did confuse both myself and the hubs is the pricing... we grabbed several different items at first when we thought they were a certain price but then after a second look they were a different price... so read the descriptions on the tags... they could be for the item below..I thought my favorite mineral water was 2 for $4....turns out they were almost $5 a piece... the tags are confusing.. it hapened to us twice... Small unique store where you can find a lot of cool desserts, take home Dishes, fresh meats, fruit and Vegetables, cheeses etc. I am. becoming addicted to this store. I only get to a Fresh Market while in Vacation in FL but have found one 1.5 hrs away in WI. I am going to try to make it a trip every once in a while. Expensive?? Well....kinda. But the quality is up and above. .99 for a lemon..a HUGE lemon and fresh and juicy. I usually make a glass of lemon aid daily and one lemon will do nicely. Cannoli, Black Forest cake, pecan peach pie and French Macaroons I can personally vouch for. Garlic bread chips, fresh, fresh vegetables, huge avocados, and their bulk snack section has anything you would want. Yes it costs more than Costco/Sams but it is also fresher. I guess that is why it is called Fresh Market...lol. I'm not a coffee drinker but they have coffee samples and treats. You can purchase coffee by bean or grounded. I love their olive bars (as in two). They have a wide selection of olives, marinated mushrooms, roasted garlic, artichoke, peppers etc. This trip I bought myself a little bright green Fresh Market cooler bag for $7.99. I was surprised how much it holds. It will be the perfect little travel cooler for packing in our water and snacks/sandwiches/fruit while on the Road when we only stop for dinner. read more

The food is good from here, and the pricing rather appropriately high for a place with relatively good quality food that's clearly a Whole Foods competitor. Unfortunately, the quality of service when we visited was indifferent at best. The people in the bakery area weren't paying attention and stayed in the back cleaning up while multiple people waited to inquire about baked goods. I only had the chance to ask about buying some sweets, because I raced back over when the employees re-emerged. Similarly, when we wanted to get deli meat cut, we ultimately realized we had to get the attention of an employee who was manning a nearby (hot food) station, because no one was on deli. She told us that the deli was probably closed for the evening, though she ultimately granted us the boon of cutting us some ham. This was several hours before closing, though. I have to report on the absolutely amazing Valentines Meal my friends and I had last night. I bought 7 Valentines meal kits and hosted our dinner. All we had to do was heat it up. It was way better than going out. The prime rib was perfect, the potatoes got rave reviews, and we had so many green beans, we couldn't believe it. Love Fresh Market. I love grocery stores that carry high quality ingredients. It is a danger to me to shop here because I cannot list shop here, it is a browsers paradise (and curse). I always buy more than I need, however, it is fun to do so. It is more expensive than some other stores because the quality of ingredients, and the way the store is merchandised. This is the place to find unique items that aren't available at the big box grocery stores. Yes you will pay a little more on average but so what, it's worth it. The selection is impressive and the customer service has always been good to me. A few highlights: tasty sandwiches ready to eat, I always get the greek salad wrap-great for beach days, the "deli" has a terrific selection of healthy salads (cucumber dill is really delicious) and warm rotisserie chicken-just grab and go! I've also had some fruit trays made for an event, they were perfect and very reasonably priced. Like pretzels? Bakery is now great. Fresh crusty baguettes and rally good croissants. I am a bread "nut" and I am writing this review because over the last several years the bakery had run down to below average. 2 day old baguettes and other crimes against bread. The customer service at the Fresh market is horrible. The butcher was extremely rude he walked away from me when I was trying to order. Then when I reacted to him walking away and taking care of a gentleman on the phone he got even more rude. He proceeded to tell me that he couldn't see me over the counter. When I told him that he could not hear me because the music was loud he once again told me how short I was. When I went to checkout the young man was also rude having a conversation with the girl at the other register ignoring me. When he finished bagging my groceries instead of putting the ten bags I had back in my cart he asked if I would like to carry them out myself. Really I expected more from this store. read more

I was really excited when I first walked into Fresh Market, they had the 'Whole Foods' type vibe, small shopping carts, fresh produce, meat counter, a wine section, and a cooked section. They sold a lot of mainstreamed organic brands and products, nothing too special. I rate 2 stars because I bought their no sugar added cherry pie, it was good, sour, and I looked in the ingredients and to my surprise they added artificial flavors to it? I thought it was supposed to be fresh, home made and organic? Not really with artificial flavors in it. That kind of killed it to me. They are very overpriced and you're not getting 'Whole Foods' type quality stuff. I did find my ground lamb there for my Puerto-Rican stuffing, just wouldn't go back again because I don't feel their products are truly organic. read more

I'm glad to see this type of grocery store in this neck of the woods. Coming from NYC, there are organic and speciality markets on every block. The selection is pretty large and the layout is good. There's lots of fun items that you want to throw in your cart. And, the prepared foods are rather tasty. But beware, this place is ungodly expensive. I first experienced The Fresh Market over 20 years ago, when I lived in Cary, NC. We loved the concept so much that I wrote to the company to suggest they bring it to the Birmingham/Hwy 280 area, which they eventually did! I loved it in both previous locations. When it's good, The Fresh Market provides easy parking, and quick shopping for the stuff you need to make a special dinner *tonight*. What I *expect* from The Fresh Market is top-quality produce, meat & seafood, baked goods, *excellent* service, and enough "pantry" items and misc. to make a complete meal. The Destin store disappoints me on a few levels. First, they just don't seem to have enough staff. I often have to wait several minutes for help, whether it's for meat or deli items. I was also disappointed with the selection and quality of the deli meats. Even the bread just isn't as good as Publix, let alone Panera, both of which are just around the corner. I don't expect The Fresh Market to provide "all organic/no artificial ingredients" because that's not their market (they are not "Whole Foods Lite"). If The Fresh Market would simply stick to their niche, they can be great. Again...they need to focus on excellent service, fresh meat/seafood, mouth-watering bakery items, fresh and delectable produce, and lots of interesting extras to make the night's dinner something special! read more

Grocery stores in Destin suck for lack of a better word. I'll start with the positive, the fresh seafood selection is excellent here and the rest of the meat looked good. I didn't get a chance to ask if the chicken was air or water-chilled which is always a pretty good indication of the quality of meat selection, but honestly, the butchers typically have no idea anyway. Had a neat selection of vinegars and you can squeeze your own almond butter here. I saw seaweed salad for sale, it didn't look the freshest, but I love seaweed salad and I still would of tried it for not the $13 per lb price tag. The produce was decent, most the lettuce seemed about a day fresher than what I've found at publix, but still on the verge of wilting. Most the other produce seemed about identical to the main grocerers around here. The dessert counter I was in the middle on, fairly comparable to some of the better Krogers, at least by looks. I was torn between a few choices and asked the man behind the counter what was in the truffle layer cake. Without hesitation, he went to the weighing machine and printed me a sticky paper with the ingredient list. I confusingly smiled and reworded my question, do you know what the different layers in the cake are. He mumbled something that wasn't the answer so I picked the tiramisu which seemed safe. The cheese selection was severely lacking, almost any Kroger I've been to has at least triple the selection. Beyond the typical cheddar and parmesan, plus maybe some mozzarella, I wouldn't count on finding anything here. The deli didn't offer boars head, and was slim on choices. I've always thought Boars Head offered the best cold cuts, and is the best part of the other groceries around here. I'd compare this to an organic only Kroger. I imagine it's difficult/expensive to receive the same quality of product as you find in the Midwest, something I've never considered until now. Comparably, this place doesn't even beat the Midwest's main chains, let alone specialty stores like Whole Foods, Earth Fare, and the likes. Unless you want good quality meat, I don't think Fresh Market is worth a visit or the higher price tag. read more

Lady comes up she is helped and then they go back to back even though old man is looking right at me. This seems to be routine that I cannot get service when I go to meat department sense this happen on my last three visits to store. The quality and selections of food are good. The problem I have with this store is the customer service. I recently shopped there and had 2 items I was unable to locate. There was a man stocking the shelves and when I approached him to ask for help he literally turned away from me and walked off. As I continued to look for the items I saw him again by the seafood department and asked again and this time with his back turned to me I was informed to look for them in the produce department. I told him I had looked in produce and couldn't find it and he said well maybe try by the tomatoes or over by the coffee. He never stopped what he was doing to help me and he never even turned around. I understand someone trying to finish a task but he was rude and was clearly not going to help. There was no one else on the floor that I could find to ask so I went to check out and the cashier was talking to another cashier and when she finally walked back to her register she accepted a phone call then walked off and come back a few minutes later. I was not greeted or asked if I found everything okay nor was I told to have a nice day or thank you for shopping with us. This is very poor customer service. There are plenty of other places that I can spend my money and actually get help if I need it. read more
