There is a reason, well, several reasons that I can point directly at to explain the rise of Publix to the very definition of what a supermarket should and could be here in the southeastern United States. First, Publix has amazing customer service. You are continuously greeted by the employees as you walk through the supermarket. They also will address any question or concern you might have. Customer service is just one thing that sets Publix apart. Another thing is their weekly BOGO (buy one, get on free) deals. Every week they have a slew of great deals. We also cannot forget their subs, affectionately known as pub subs. These are great subs. One of my main go to subs their Italian. I also like their roast beef and cheese. My daughter, who is not a huge sandwich fan, even likes their chicken tenders subs. My son, who does like sandwiches, likes their Italian sub, as well. Kind of weird to realize that some of the best subs come from a supermarket, but Publix definitely delivers. Oh, another thing that I am a fan of is the Publix diet iced tea, available over by the deli section. The deli is also pretty impressive. You can get cakes and whatnot, but I really like their bread and they also have pizza dough do that you can make your own homemade pizza. All in all, Publix is a great supermarket and it is my go to supermarket. If you have been to Publix, I am sure you will understand. If you are not familiar with Publix supermarket, try them once and you will be a fan. Publix has come a long way since they began here in Florida. They have expanded throughout the southeast and continue to grow. As I said, I do recommend Publix, definitely the best supermarket around. read more

Publix wanted to charge me $8.58 for two 16oz Kombucha when I saw that they had a BOGO deal-def. Need to check your bill before paying because for two bags of green beans, garlic & 2 Kombucha-it was shy of $18 - robbery as stated, double charging for my Kombucha that was BOGO. I even had to run to the display shelf for the cashier and snapped a pic. To show proof even though this deal is also in their advertisement. The deli has messed up my deli sandwich orders the last four times I ordered. Three of the orders they just ignored and did not start until I went to pick up the sandwiches. The one sandwich they actually made was the wrong sandwich. The manager said it was really hard to get the orders right. No, it's not. Just do your job. This is my favorite publix in Gainesville because it is usually the least crowded. Publix has the best BOGO deals I check them every Thursday. I also absolutely love pub subs my favorite one is the chicken cordon bleu but you also can't go wrong with the chicken tender which is like the most popular one. Publix also has the best deli meat. One other thing I love about publix is their buffalo chicken dip it is one of the best things ever and it's in the deli section. Publix is always organized and clean. Went to the Deli to get my to go sub that I ordered because it wasn't at the front, then was told it was at the front. When I finally received it, it was the worst sub made. Come on people, make the sub like you would like to eat it, this sub was sloppy, messy and didn't taste good. Now I have to go somewhere else and spend more money do to this horrible sub. I LOVE PUBLIX! We do not have them in Texas, so when I come home to visit I have to stop by here. I cannot even begin to describe the shopping pleasure of visiting a Publix. Those who are familiar with Publix - see what I did there? Anyhoo, I always grab a sub, all the flavors of their teas, a variety of baked goods, and Rogerwood sausage - a brand we do not have in Texas. This is by far my favorite Publix in Gainesville. I feel this location has the most fresh produce and has the best customer service in town. When I am visiting this side of town I like to stop by this store because the staff is always friendly and the food is good. I love their selection of precooked meals. Bag boy was too busy flirting with cashier to do his job and did not place $12 worth of items in my cart. When I got home and found the error I called the customer service department, whoever answered the phone was very rude and immature. We pay a premium on groceries at Publix to have high quality service the food I purchase here is no better then anywhere else. And so it makes no sense for me or my family to do business with publix anymore. Everyone else should do the same boycott publix too expensive to have such poor customer service. read more

Malik at the customer service desk is the best. He helped me find my lost debit card and treated me with the upmost respect and kindness unlike the other manager whose rude demeanor took me off guard and is maybe more suited for a grocery chain that doesn't prioritize customers. read more

This particular Publix location has the most courteous deli people! They are always super helpful, nice, and give me great suggestions about cheese (that's usually what I'm indecisive about lol). Plus, this one is not ever nearly as hectic as the other locations on Archer or closer to main campus. read more

My cousin don't eat meat and ordering a publix tuna sub. First time having to get a manager involved because John from the deli has poor customer service. No tuna available so he sends my cousin to pick up a can of tuna from inside the store. After my cousin picks it up another deli server Brandon tells John that he can't open the can for my cousin after being told to get one. After talking to the manager she said there was a full order that was received the day before but no tuna was available still. The pharmacy is steadfast and true with its disappointing service. For a decade I used to come straight from the doctor's office and drop off. They always say it will be anywhere from 10-15 to 20-30 minutes. I learned to multiply that by 3. I first tried to multiply by two instead but then I just stood in line to pick up (after waiting like 45 minutes) only to be told "nope! Another "ten" (twenty-five) minutes... For this latest fiasco, I didn't even bother going by the publix after my doctor sent over the prescription (around noon). Instead I stopped by at 7 pm. A mere SEVEN HOURS after the prescription was dropped off. You can imagine my quiet rage when he looked up at me and said, "It'll be about ten minutes." Can't wait to go somewhere else for my pharmacy needs. Maybe Walgreen's will be a pleasure. read more

Publix is over rated. It is a clean place to shop and they do keep things well stocked and employees are generally very pleasant. Why I give it 3 stars is that you do PAY for all of that - they are way over priced except for their BOGO's which change weekly. They do have a decent deli. I really avoid them as I feel their produce is over priced way too often and there are great Chinese markets in town with much cheaper (and better) produce. Overall, the are good, but bring extra cash to pay for the perks! read more

Win Dixie is usually where I shop, but decided to switch it up a bit. Publix tends to have fresher produce and the experience of shopping there, walking through the aisles is pleasant. I even had an Australian bagger take my groceries to my car without me even asking him. Now that's GREAT customer service!! They can be a bit more expensive than other supermarkets, but coming here makes shopping for groceries easy and u get better quality of food. One more thing... I also like how the cashiers stand in front of their lines to welcome shoppers or to ask if I need help finding something (when not busy). I will be returning! read more

My wife had a very bad experience on 7/13/20. The cashier Vantoryia S. was more worried about her nails then her customers. And was rude about it as well. I love this Publix - Its my favorite one in Gainesville. The staff are always friendly, always helpful, and on one particular occasion a manager offered to extend the bogo discount on a more expensive item because the one that was bogo was out of stock. I appreciated that so much. I also really appreciate the ability to put my phone number in for extra savings on coupons that I have *clipped* online. How super helpful is that?! Not having to bring coupons in the store with me is great. I also love that I am able to place an order for a pub sub on their app and pick it up without having to stand in line and wait - this is at least a once a month if not more, occurrence. This location of Publix is really nice, has a liquor store which is fun, and is also in a shopping center with a lot of other great stores. Publix always has good quality stuff, but the layout of this store is particularly nice, especially the deli counter. read more

This location is always clean. It has a sit down area for eating food, and the sub sandwich counter is always busy. Parking lot has just about no shade. If you want shade, you can get partial shade by parking on the far far side away from the stores. read more

Not a bug fan of this particular store but stocks about the same as the others. Does have a liquor store though so that's a plus. Parking can be bad. Staff not as friendly as some of the others in this chain but will help if asked. Prefer the Steeplechase store over this one. But still shop here when in this part of town. read more

Groceries are too expensive and cost too much for an aggravating experience like this one was. I picked up sushi to eat for the ride home and I needed a fork and there was not one fork in the dispenser to speak of. I could have eaten with a knife or a spoon I guess but why? When I brought it up to their attention they wanted me to wait for them to figure it all out and I did until I decided not to. If someone would have said, "Sorry about that one fork coming right up" or something I might have stuck around. Then I go to the checkout and I wait and after awhile a crowd formed and the cashiers start assisting customers with check out and echoes of "I can take someone over here," start to ring out. It's my turn and the conveyor belt is filthy so I asked the cashier to wipe up the liquid substance on the conveyor belt and she does. After the cashier wiped up the spot, the freshly cleaned area on the conveyor belt disappered under the cash register out of sight so I handed her each one of my shopping items to ring up which wasn't very many items. My items consisted of BOGOs, sales and mark downs and she said $54 dollars. The two glass bottles of wine I bought were in a fragile thin plastic bag together when I got home--how careless is that? read more

For years PUBLIX has professed to be "Where Shopping Is A Pleasure." Lately however I have been repeatedly disappointed with quality standards in this, my location of choice. The chuck roast I bought yesterday and prepared today could be described as "gnarly" at best--basically inedible. Produce seldom lasts 3 days after purchase and the fresh fish ice counter is stocked almost entirely with previously frozen fish. I am a long time PUBLIX shopper and wish management would re-access quality standards so that the chain will again be top drawer. PUBLIX shopper pay premium prices for premium products and excellent service. Nothing less is acceptable. read more

The deli here is terrible!!! I have ordered wings, subs, and various other items and they NEFVER get it right!!!! Was in there today for lunch and tried to order a sub. It was a signature sandwich on special...whole sub for 6.99 Boarshead Havannah Bold cuban. It is a very specific sandwich but it has been on special for a week now. This is the second time I have been there and had to explain to the person making the sandwich how to make it and what was on it!!! Today was the final straw!!! After telling the dude exactly what I wanted he just looked at me with lifeless eyes that clearly said " I don't want to be here today" He slapped a couple of pieces of random lunch meat on the but and said...anything else??? I just replied with NOPE...that will do it. I took the sandwich and just dropped it off in the lunchmeat section and headed to the door!!! The sandwich is supposed to have spicy boars head ham and bacon and be toasted!!! The dude just threw what ever meat was near on it and did not eve offer to toast it....clearly mailing it in today!!! I would be hesitant to buy meat or produce from this store... The last time I shopped there looking for those items the meat dept. smelled horrible and a lot of the produce were rotten.... They employees were standing around pretending to be busy and... WOW!!!! I am generally complimentary about publix; however, my wife and I stopped in at the store at Williston Plaza in Gainesville to order some take out. My wife ordered the hot chicken and artichoke flat bread and I ordered fried chicken and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was the only thing half eatable. The artichoke chicken had a generous helping of artichoke dip applied making for a terrible taste. The fried chicken was not cooked well done and the breading was horrible. Don't think I will be ordering take out from a publix in the future. read more

I love this store. The staff is friendly, the store is clean. The selection is awesome. Sometimes they aren't stocked with popular items that disappear quickly, but that's because it's a busy location. I would give it 5 stars, but the prices seem to be getting higher and my food bill is too. We are not buying any more than we did before. I love this store and the products they sell (especially organic), but you can find many of the items cheaper at dollar stores, Walmart, etc. But unless you want to drive around to multiple stores wasting gas and getting aggravated in traffic to save a few dollars, than it's not worth it. So overall I am pleased, but wish they would adjust their prices to be competitive with neighboring stores. read more

This is combination review...was really craving some Alfredo pizza. Publix had their pizza dough on sale ($1.99) in the bakery department. They also have some pretty decent ground mild Italian sausage. Next I would need some fresh garlic, basil and mushrooms. Grabbed those and was stumped on the Alfredo sauce. Then, epiphany struck....Pazza Bistro sells their Alfredo by the ounce. Stopped by my favorite place to eat, bought a baby mason jar full and headed home. The pizza dough had been rising and by the time I finally got home it was ready to punch down, roll out and become homemade pizza. I did add olive oil and fresh pressed garlic to the dough after I rolled it out on the pan. I am not totally gaga about the dough, but, with a little creativity it does make a good base for "home made" pizza. The Alfredo sauce from Pazza Bistro was the crowning touch. Hint: It's even better the next day warmed up. Yummers. read more

What can you say about a supermarket that is clean, well stocked, and has everything you need from your 3-page (!) list to set up your kitchen after moving across the country? Oh, and how about if you discover they have a wide selection of gluten free and low salt products, and lots of easily identified house brands? How about when you ask employees about where things are and every single one of them gives you correct directions? Let me add that the fish was fresh, the meat looked good and came in small as well as large packages, and the adult beverage selection (including in the attached liquor store) was amazing. I'd be willing to say YAY! in a very loud voice, but then there's this one more thing: they had a whole fleet of handicap carts, well charged - and in addition have arranged their store in such a way that I was able to manage every single turn without taking a corner display with me. By now I'm wanting to shout from the rooftops about this store -- but I'll settle for giving it five stars, and saying this is going to be my regular go-to grocery store from now on.
