This Publix got a huge makeover and the renovation treated it extremely well. It has much more to offer than even a standard Publix- if you know what Greenwise is, it's basically the same but just called a Publix now. A stone oven for fresh made pizza, a coffee bar also serving smoothies & açaí bowls, sushi (of course), salad & soup bar, wing bar, and a burrito & bowl station reminiscent of Chipotle. Those are just some of the meal options they have. Then there's all the basic grocery sections you know and expect in Publix. If you wanted an easy meal but not a sit down restaurant or fast food, this Publix can meet you in the middle with its meal options. I tried the hot line for a lunch break March 30, 2021. This area is in the northwest corner of the store. It's the biggest Publix I have ever been in. It started life as a Publix variant, a concept store, World Food Market. At some time the Publix Corp. abandoned the concept and it just became a regular Publix. I shop here quite a bit as I work near by. On the hot line, I tried a crispy chicken sandwich and onion rings. These were prepared and ready to go. So, I grabbed the items and left. The onion rings were still quite warm, and tasted fairly good. Onion rings cooked in old oil taste bad, but these rings tasted fine. I'd rather a lighter batter, but thought these were average, and that's fine. The sandwich was just okay. It's two standard chicken tenders, and Publix does a great job on those. It's prepared with a slice of American cheese, a good portion of dill pickles, mustard and mayonnaise on a brioche roll. No ingredient overwhelmed another, I could taste everything. The brioche was stale and crumbled at the touch, and was dry in my mouth. It's a shame really; the bread just didn't work; either fresher brioche or a sturdier roll from the stuff the bakers make the baguettes from. In fact, I believe there is a torpedo-style chicken tenders sub you can get as well. Other options on the hot line are popcorn chicken, fried fish fingers, potato wedges, mac n' cheese, stewed greens, green beans and lima beans. The offerings change, and sometimes the line is short items, but you can certainly make a decent meal here. Just FYI, this particular location features a Chinese hot line as well, the only one I know of within a Publix. It's pretty decent as well, at least three stars, a bargain compared to Panda Express, & similar quality. It's a nice store, generally a pleasure to shop here, but I have to agree with other posters, Publix does not enforce their posted mask rules. It's no different than what I have observed at other businesses hereabouts. Most folks are smart enough to wear them, but there are some who just won't out of fierce individualism, hating science and "gummint interference" with their sense of liberty, & thumbing their noses at the civility of protecting their fellows. read more

Very first time at this location in Lakeland. Costumer service is good and the store is super clean and well stocked also the store is designed very good but different from other stores. The deli is near the register and serves hot food during the day like Chinese food etc. The bakery is in a Coren by deli with a lots of choices just like the deli. Produce is well stocked and so is grocery and meat department,we were greeted by an associate right away and smiles by others. This is one of a few stores I have seen with self check out and registers are one behind the other,the design of the store is very different from other stores but I definitely will check this store out again when in town visiting from Orlando. Five stars for this store,very happy with what I saw when I went in there at almost closing time. read more

This store has declined in both service and produce quality over the years. I've requested special orders of items that were listed but out of stock, and was assured by management the orders would be made and I would be contacted as soon as they arrived. It never happened. The Chinese kitchen area is poorly managed, with some food sitting in the bins unserved to the point where the vegetables either dry out or become soggy. Who wants zucchini with the consistency of mashed potatoes? Even worse, when asked for a fresh serving, the counter attendants prefer to argue about their unpalatably aged food that is a result of their bad timing and inability to predict customer patterns. You are wasting food that only takes a few minutes to cook. Finally, to the Produce Department. Where is the pride in quality of product? You are regularly stocking the shelves with sub-standard fruits & vegetables, often having passed their shelf life days before being replaced. Your mushrooms, cilantro and tomatoes are glaring examples of this. Adding to the issue is the fact that your produce is overpriced even at its best. I addressed these issues with your produce manager in the past. Find better people who have some knowledge and concern for their departments. I'm sticking to Sanwa for fruits and vegetables. read more

This Publix location in Lakeland is not enforcing the town Face-mask covering requirements which is endangering its employees who are trying to make a living and its customers who are responsible and wear a mask. Always clean and help is very accommodating. Unfortunately Their prices are high compared to Walmart. Example Thomas English muffin are 4.49 Walmarts are 2.24 even when they are BOGO Walmart is still cheaper. There are many items I've found that are almost twice as high as Walmart. read more

Ever since I moved to Lakeland 25 years ago it has consistently been the # 1 place to shop for the best products, although at times the price might be a little higher, I can guarantee you that your product will invariably be the better product... especially when buying produce, for example... there will never be a time where Publix's products will disappoint you!!! Long-time Lakelanders still call this grocery "Food World" for the store it replaced. We call it "Gucci Publix" because of the "la-de-da" factor we feel when in there. It does have wonderful fresh sushi and a chef who is capable of making specialty sushi such as inarizushi or kabuki roll. Great ethnic options, full Chinese take-out, great flower shop. I love publix mac and cheese in the deli and that's what I went for today. Walked in and looked left and was blown away! The store had sooo many food selections even Chinese food but I wanted the cheese. Took a minute to find it and damn... Some people are picky about they food and I couldn't believe out of all the shit in the store, the mac and cheese had the display paper with clip attached laid in it. I don't know where that paper was, was it on the floor and the metal clip was it washed, where was it. Nothing about this is sanitary and small things like this can cause cross contamination. Then when I asked if they had more in the back... The girl Bre or Bri and a boy name Christain felt they should argue with me about it cause it was cooked an hour ago like they was paying for the shit. At the register I was approached by a manager who overheard me telling the cashier how disappointed I was and she did try to talk to me but after the last two fools I talked to i was done. Overall this a very clean beautiful Publix. My major complaint is the Deli, walk in at 12:15 for lunch only to find out that they have 0 hot food ready. Publix is pretty close to the best grocery store in this area. The produce is always good and fresh. The meat is high quality and well presented. The bakery products are almost as good as what's available in the bakeries around here. But the fried chicken is at the top of the food chain. Superb! The one drawback is their prices. Extremely disappointed!!!! I've gotten cakes from here before but this cake was supposed to be special. Yesterday was my baby shower and the cake I ordered two weeks ago was NOT the cake I picked up. I could have made this myself at home had I known what I was wasting $55 on. First of all, they were trying to charge me $25 for two small ribbons of fondant, second, my cake was supposed to be ALL white with pink fondant ribbons on both layers, lastly, it was supposed to have snowflakes piped on to the cake, they were supposed to be gray and pink snowflakes. This is a complete disgrace and my husband was the one to pick it up and when he sent me the picture, I almost lost it!!! My 16 year old could have done a much better job. This terrible looking cake was supposed to cost $80 but I told her that there was no way I was paying an additional $25 for that fondant. That was a rip off... so they reduced the price but when my husband went to pick it up, there were no snowflakes and she said that I told her to hold off which I DOD NOT. I told her to go ahead and put them on there and if I found something I would add on to it but my husband had to wait an additional 30 minutes to put these terrible snowflakes on that looked like a two year old was playing. I will NEVER AGAIN order a cake from this store!!!! EVER AGAIN... I've taken several Wilton classes and if it weren't for me cooking for 40 all night, I would have happily made my cake but I took a shortcut unfortunately. The taste was ok, nothing like what I'm used to for a publix cake... overall, the bakery department takes a HUGE FAIL FOR THIS.
