We don't have Publix out in SoCal so when visiting family out here I always make sure to visit at least a few times. They have everything grocery wise you could think of, the best sammies and the absolute SWEETEST employees who are genuinely so kind. I love Publix compared to all the other large grocery stores in Brandon. I don't mean to compare it to specialty grocers like Sprouts or Whole Foods, that's a different class of grocery stores in my mind. This is the second Publix I have reviewed. In my first review I stated that the Publix on west SR60 was the worst of the several in my area. This is in fact the Publix I visited today to pick up a birthday cake (ordered previously, so I had to go to this store). Although I like the other Brandon/Valrico Publix stores better, this one has definitely improved since my last visit. The store was clean, several aisles were partially blocked by employees and vendors restocking shelves, yet some obvious vacant spaces on some shelves showed that this needed to be done. read more

Have always purchased catfish fillets from the Publix deli as they are fresh, not oily, and lightly breaded. That stops today as they have changed their supplier. Bought fillets from this location that were longer but thin, they were covered in batter, and were oily to boot. Will have to find a new place to get this product. read more

The deli is absolutely horrible. It takes forever to get anything from the deli. And then they're always out of stuff. It gives me anxiety to go to the store. I will never use Publix again. I prefer to shop at local mom and pop shops anyways so I guess I need to send them an out of the corporate bullshit. I've repeatedly had problems with the Bakery in this store. On October 3rd I bought a carrot cake that had a sell by date of October 7th... that evening I gave it to my wife for her birthday...It was stale and literally dry as can be...we ended up throwing it away the next morning. *that week I asked the Bakery manager Luis who applied the sell by dates knowing it was produced in Lakeland...he stated he did...I suggested that he watch how far out he dated them... For nearly 2 years I've had a standing order for 4 powdered sugar long johns and 2 apple fritters. This only after a rough start...with just about every color filling imaginable. The worst being battle ship grey. (I have an severely autistic grandson which these are purchased for) any change sets off a morning of major upset. (shared this with Luis on several occasions). Last Saturday I asked my wife to pick up my order. Well day-glow orange was prepacked...she pointed out the mistake. A very nice young lady tried to correct the order with both Luis and Joe the baker insisting that they were completed out of white butter cream. Both my wife and this young lady noticed that several were being held back (with white butter cream) and were curtly informed that they were for another order. My wife finally gave up and paid for this order. She then went to the store on Bloomingdale and purchased replacements. Throwing the day-glow orange ones in the trash. The true irony is that the Robertson store is excellent. The management should reign in the bakery. I figure possibly the profits in the bakery are slipping. If I'm having issues...how many others simply walk away and shop elsewhere... read more

Fried Chicken: As a native of California, we don't have This grocery store. But they have the best store bought fried chicken I've ever had! Several people have told me how delicious the fried chicken is, but I didn't believe them. I went today at 10:30 in the morning. This fried chicken is absolutely delicious. I ordered one chicken thigh and let me tell you, it was juicy, it's crispy yet flaky, and had an excellent flavor throughout! By far and hands-down, Publix has best "store bought" fried chicken that I have ever experienced. In fact it stands up as a contender to any other establishment out there. I appreciate the fact that this market has everything. From incredible delightful baked products to a variety of juices, cheeses, butter a variety of meats and seafood. Also, I must mention they carry Blue Bell Ice Cream; in my opinion the best ice cream in the WORLD. I went in to Publix on Friday night to order a cake for Sunday. Since I know they usually only need about 24hrs to make a cake from their binder, I had no worries until my son decided at the last minute that he wanted a birthday cake Publix doesn't have in their binder! In his 9 yrs, we've only bought a birthday cake from somewhere besides Publix once. It was not good, so we don't go anywhere else. When I walked into the store Friday night, it was late and I wasn't even sure I'd be able to place the order, but the girl sweeping in the bakery quickly offered me assistance (something Publix associates always do). I preceded to explain to Amanda that I had spoken to Darlene via telephone earlier and she advised me to bring in a idea of what we wanted on the cake since it was now custom. Amanda took my order, and the pictures and let me know it shouldn't be any problem at all. I was please as always and left confident that my son's 9th birthday cake would be perfect..and when I went to pick it up on Sunday (yesterday), it was!! It was absolutely beautiful! You see, my son wanted a Minecraft themed cake, which they don't seem to carry in their binder at this time, but the wonderful bakers at Publix made sure my baby boy got what he wanted. It's really disappointing to be the only one in line at the sub station and see most all of the condiments practically empty and the sub maker sigh and be annoyed at having to get more, not to mention when asked "Publix or Boars Head?" And responding that Publix is fine, more sighs and annoyance bc there is no Publix roast beef stocked so they slice Boars Head and charge you without asking. Worst of all is having a full sized, $9 Philly served with the onions, mushrooms and peppers barely grilled and the meat cold. This is the second time in a row, maybe it's just this store but I'm sorry, for the money, I expect a decent and hot sub, and NOT to be upcharged without being asked. This Publix is clean and organized. The staff personnel are courteous and friendly. The subs are delicious. The international section is quite impressive. The food is always fresh and the seafood options are seasonal. Parking can be a bit backed up at times because of the busy pedestrian traffic. read more

Publix! Hmm I grew up on Kroger stores. The customer service is great. The ability to make everybody feel welcome. The Meat counter and produce are my keys to a grocery store. They do not disappoint. Jessica E has taken to couponing. So darn friendly here with coupons. Take them all. Walmart advertises but Publix delivers with there BOGO's anf helpful attitude. Walked in looking for peanut butter so we could bake. Found some. See the deal. Damn forgot the Publix coupon. Go to check out say I need to go to the door to get coupon. I like this store. Every time I have gone in here in the 6 months I have lived in the area, I am always offered assistance by employees. Everyone seems to be very happy to be there and to provide great customer service. The prices are high compared to other super markets, but paying a little more to get much better service is worth it. read more
