This Publix is more compact than other locations, which is great. You get in and out faster - without having to walk a mile when you forget something at the opposite end of the store. Slightly less variety of products due to smaller space? Sure. But still more than enough. Parking is on the first floor and is generally smooth traffic flow unlike some other Publix parking lots. There are elevators, escalators, and stairs up to the store, but 50-50 chance one of the escalators is out of service. There is no way to cut through from the parking to the stairs without walking around the outside of the building and through a crowded bus stop, so the stairs are more convenient for pedestrians. The stairs entrance leads to a small terrace with cafe tables overlooking downtown Surfside. If you're visiting the beach and don't want to invest a small fortune in lunch, grab a chicken tender Pub Sub from the deli, good as always. Skip the seafood department. Not unique to this location. Seafood from Publix just isn't the quality it used to be... and there are so many places in South Florida to buy fresh local catch. Staff in the store, including the pharmacy, are generally helpful and friendly. And everything's usually clean and bright. All in all, reliable place to find what you need. read more

Publix is great if you do it right. While on a trip I had the fortune of this market being conveniently located within one street block of my hotel. It easily became a relatively frequent spot for me to pick up essentials. It is in a residential area, so it was never very busy. However, given that this market is kind of huge and it was off-season" in Miami, that may have been the cause. They have a huge free parking lot. Once inside they have a market as well as a liquor store. The market was tremendous with everything you need from grocery to produce, and a deli to frozen foods. And the market was very clean and tidy. My one qualm is that the prices are generally expensive. However, some deals can be found. I discovered that you can grab some to-go foods near their hot buffet section. So, if you need a quick bite on the cheap, that's the best place to look. Overall, Publix was good and convenient, I would likely look elsewhere if I wanted more affordable options. read more

This is a horrible place. I live in balharbour and I always go to sunny isles Publix. They are wonderful once in a while I drive here like today and of course we know that it takes a while because of traffic after driving here and shopping for 25 minutes. Every single person was rude that I asked a question. They were absolutely disgusting and I'm a very tolerant nice person so I left basically crying. I left all my groceries except one coffee Feel free to call me with comments, but I'm telling you you need to go in there and clean house I've gone a couple times and everybody in my neighborhood knows about it, but I'm done. It's an average Publix, once you get inside. The checker was friendly. It was impossible to find an employee working in the aisles to help me find a particular product. The physical layout is inconvenient. It is on the second story above a parking garage. I didn't see an escalator. Only two out of the three elevators were working. The entrance for getting to the store from the sidewalk is not well marked. I walked there from a hotel several blocks away and originally thought it might have been a Google Maps error. read more

I liked that the grocery store was so close to the hotel, but the store did not offer much in terms of variety. Once we realized that we would not be eating regularly at the hotel, we decided to go to the grocery store to stock up on some food items for the room. The hotel room featured a larger dorm size refrigerator, so the goal was to purchase some items we could snack on. This store was the worst in my opinion. For it to be located in a so called better neighborhood, I did not find anything to reflect it. We were going to order some steamed shrimp, but the selection and variety of shrimp and overall seafood was nowhere near as abundant as the seafood departments that I am used to. As one who regularly purchases and consumes seafood, the quality of the seafood was not there. For that reason, we decided to forgo the seafood idea. The bottled water and Gatorade was a good price, but I found little to nothing to stock up the refrigerator for five days. I walked into the store expecting something similar to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's and ended up with a basic grocery store that was similar to most stores in many areas that offer the "smoke and mirrors" and not much else. read more

This Publix store is located right at the corner of 94th and Harding in Surfside with the parking entrance/exit off Abbott Ave. This Publix is on the 2nd floor because the ground level is parking so the store itself is built on top of their parking lot. While they have a flat escalator going up and down, I'm not sure exactly how one gets their carts up and down. I've seen in stores like Target that they have escalators for carts down the middle but this place doesn't have that. I can only assume they have elevators? I'm not sure exactly how one would get their cart down to their car. We didn't have that much purchased so we didn't need a cart going back. The number one and two things I always look forward to when I go to Publix hasn't changed. One is the sandwiches they make at the deli counter which make Subway look like a packet of ketchup and their ready to take home fried chicken in a see through box. I bought one box of fried chicken, a box of spicy wings and an Italian sub to share among 4 people. It almost seems that there's at least one Publix about every mile apart Miami and that's important when it comes to these two key items that are made in house which are their great sandwiches and amazing fried chicken. read more

Ok, so were in Bal Harbour so everything is a but pricier. However, I just paid $3.00 for a single white onion. I'm not complaining I just think it's definitely a pricier Publix than the rest in Miami. The only thing that really stands out to me is the Meat section always carries a nice Kobe selection for my Kobe Picadillo. Now that I think of it, I don't know why their premade salads don't come in all the fancy flavors I'm used to. All I see is gross potato salad, ham salad (bocadito sauce) and some wannabe "Caribbean" one but it's just not edible (I tried). Anyways, I will tell you I like that their cosmetics face the cheese and dairy section which keeps the temperature on point. The rest of the layout is a bit questionable. Do I come here? Yes. The escalator to go up into Publix is always broken I would say at least five or six times a month, this is very inconvenient since we have to walk all the way around the building in order to get into Publix and they keep not doing anything about it. This Publix is near my mother's condo. I usually go there when I visit her. The deli department is great. Most of the deli meats are Boars Head. I usually buy a variety of meats and cheeses for lunch. I pick up containers of freshly made coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, and soft rye bread. I go back to mom's and prepare a delicious lunch. If you don't want to make your own sandwiches you can order one of there's. They make delicious sandwiches which are really big and reasonably priced. They have a bakery, but they don't have a large selection of baked goods. Nice breads, but not many cakes. They do have some cakes in the refrigerator section. This Publix seems to be smaller then most of their other stores that I've been too. Depending on what time you get there it can be pretty crowded. Even customer service often has a line, probably because that's where they sell lottery tickets. There's outside and indoor parking. The lot can fill up, but I can usually find a spot. Interesting Publix location. There is parking in the garage below and then you take an elevated people mover to the actual top of the building which is where the store is located. Pricing is noticeably higher (they are close to Bal Harbour Shops) and I found it crowded and the aisles more cramped. But, regardless, this is a great option to pick up groceries, fresh produce, deli meat, etc... especially for the out of towners. Bring your recyclable bags as they are more sturdier than the plastic ...especially if you are walking to/from in that hot Miami heat! read more

I came here on a Friday night with a friend to pick up a Red Box Blu-Ray. It was quick and seamless. As others have mentioned, there is a parking lot and a parking garage for patrons. The uphill conveyor belt for customers, which leads you upstairs to the store entrance, was interesting. Usually, if you're lucky enough to have a 2-story Publix, they will have an escalator, not this conveyor belt concoction. That is usually reserved for shopping carts, so I thought this was different. The store inside was quite large, clean, and well-stocked. The crowds seemed normal, no weirdos or dregs. I wanted to give this Publix 4 stars, but that changed once we paid for our merchandise. I did not like the fact that the cashier just threw our box of tea and although he bagged the milk, he did not bag the tea nor did he remind us to take it. Had it not been for the fact we turned around and looked at the bagging area and saw the box thrown in a corner there, we would have paid for the tea and left without it. Please hire less neglectful employees, Publix! I dread to think of what would happen with some delicate fruits. I tried this Publix after being quite disappointed with the one closer to me (6876 Collins Ave.). I'll definitely be using this as my regular Publix now that I've tried it out. Easy parking. It's part lot, part garage (on the first floor only). After parking, you can either take the elevator, stairs or a "people mover" (a flat escalator) up to the store. The carts are outside, to the right of the elevator. The aisles are a bit tight, but over all well organized and very clean. The staff are very helpful and nice and they seem to like their job. The women's bathroom was very tidy, too. Exiting with a cart, you have to take the elevator down to the ground level. Don't worry, three carts fit at once. read more

So I haven't been to a Publix in say 10 years, but I have to say this one was the best! Even the shopping carts can ride the escalator.... Nice layout, parking garage underneath, and impeccably clean! The produce and meat selections were fresh, and you can even buy beer and wine. The staff was super friendly and eager to help me find what I needed--Unlike grocery stores back home, where they grunt an isle number at you, the staff here actually brings you the item OR take you right to it! Being on vacation and not wanting to cook -- The selection of prepared foods and snacks was amazing, along with the bakery case for morning breakfast items. You can even buy a slice of birthday cake for that midnight craving of sweets! Only complaint, it was a little too cold in there, but that is about all I can complain about!!! read more

This is a nice neighborhood Publix. It's on the second floor. You can take either escalator or an elevator to get there. Sometimes parking is a problem. They have outdoor and a parking garage. When it's busy I may have to wait for someone to leave to get their parking place. This Publix seems to be smaller then some of the others that I've been to. The shelves are usually well stocked, and the employees are friendly and helpful. I especially like their bakery and their deli. Delicious rotisserie chicken and sandwiches. Great Publix! Surely my favorite location. This Publix has a great layout: plenty of parking on the first floor and store is on the second floor. You can pick up a shopping cart down below and take it on the special escalator to the store. There's also a handy elevator. The store is always clean and the employees here are the nicest! I haven't been to a good Publix yet. The prices are outrageously high. The service is ALWAYS unfriendly, excruciatingly slow and unhelpful. I've never seen any of the workers make an attempt at a smile. The quality of the produce is hit or miss. The selection is less than places like Winn-Dixie, Presidente or others. This review is for the pharmacy at Publix. Most of the pharmacists there are kind and professional but the blonde one is very nasty and rude. I've seen her yell at elderly customers before but the last time I picked up allopurinol for my gout from there was awful. I made a random comment that I was in pain and she said "suck it up" and then turned to the pharmacy tech and said "I'm so funny" in an obnoxious manner. A person who legally is authorized to dispense medication has the behavior of a rude high schooler. I already have social anxiety so this event did not help. If you want to be funny, try hitting stand up comedy open mics instead of making fun of the sick and elderly behind a counter. read more

This has become my new store since the one across the street has closed for a year. It is always crowded probably for this same reason. I can still usually find the things that I am looking for and have not had any major issues so far. It also has a pharmacy which is helpful because that is where my hubby and I have had our RXs filled the last few years and they even had our records from Georgia in their system so no switching was needed. Just an address update. I have never used it but there is complimentary valet parking which I am sure is helpful to some people. Very upset with the bakery at Surfsides publix. Yesterday night i got my eight year old son a birthday cake, which I had ordered in advance. I had specified that i wanted the cake to be made of chocolate, and that was exactly what i paid for. When cutting the cake at his party we noticed it was vanilla with whipped cream. My son started crying since the only cake he likes is chocolate and was very disappointed. I took the cake back this morning 06.10.2019, and the lady only gave me the option of giving my money back or chose another cake that was already made. I wasn´t going to get a flower cake when i had paid for a dinosaur one. I asked her if she could make another one, she then agreed, but it will only be ready by 12 p.m., so we have to hold the people that came to the party until then so he doesn't cut the cake alone.... very disappointed today.... read more

Staff is always "hanging out" with each other and talking. Be much faster if they didn't always have so much fun there... Meats are badly cut and often look grey. We just purchased a $20 plus package of Publix chicken. We brought it home and opened the cellophane and the rancid smell emerged from the package and throughout our kitchen. "Jorge ", the new manager assured me he would assist us as we returned the chicken. My husband arrived at Publix and met Jorge. My husband went to the meat department and had to wait for the meat employee to complete what he was doing. Back at the cashier they SCANNED THE RANCID CHICKEN ON THE CONVEYOR BELT ! And the cashier initially shorted my husband $2.00. IMPORTANT: Be careful at the store. It appears they may not properly refrigerate their meat, nor take appropriate safety precautions to protect customers from bacteria. I wish this wasn't so. This is our local store. Although inconvenient, we will shop at Whole Foods in North Miami or Fresh Market in Aventura. read more

This Publix is probably one of the worst I've experienced. It is ALWAYS crowed, to the point where you can't even move your cart around the store. The people who shop here are either very old people, often very cranky and taking up the entire aisle or snooty mothers with whiny children screaming in their cart; it is very tiring to shop in this store. For some reason I also feel as if the prices here are slightly higher then other publix locations. The parking here is also a nightmare, it does have a lot of parking but there are WAY to many people shopping here to ever find a spot without having to wait. This is a great publix with awesome customer service. The publix subs here often have hard bread but they make up for it by adding extra toppings. The lines are generally fast and the employees know the store. They accept android pay but not Apple Pay just yet which is sometimes a hassle. read more
