This location needs an overhaul. Poorly stocked and the ice cream freezer looks like it hasn't been defrosted in a decade!

I was in the area and wanted to get some cheese for a recipe. From the outside, it looks a bit dated and smaller than other Publix stores. Inside it also feels a bit tired, but like all Publix stores, they had the basic things you look for....I found all the cheeses I was looking for, the cashier was nice and the check out process was smooth. I remember when this was an Albertson's and now it's Publix. The name on the front changed but the customers are the same. I spotted people in PJs and slippers, dragging their feet and yelling at their toddlers. I spent most of my time at the deli. The lady who waited on me was very nice and pleasant. Sadly, the product was not up to the usual snuff. The slicer had not been cleaned recently, leaving my white cheese streaked with yellow cheese. Not good. Drove some distance because this had been one of the locations that made the best subs. But this visit was one disappointment after another. Dismissed the loud sneeze that came from behind the deli counter. The two customers in queue in front of me were assisted upon the clerk's arrival. My reply to what was I having, was met with matter of fact "we don't have any bread." No problem. I'll go with a wrap. But as clerk prepared my wrap, every 30-45 seconds, she leaned back and coughed over her shoulder--at least five times. Upon receiving the cough-ladden wrap, I couldn't bring myself to even think of eating it. So I left the wrap and the store. Hopefully, this incident was a one-off.. read more

if I could give this store negative stars, I would. I moved from one area to this area, leaving one Publix for this one, due to proximity to my house. Nope! I have given this place so many chances and they fail miserably every time. from the dark dinginess, to the lack of items, to the poor customer service. Their prices are about .50 to a $1 cheaper per an item than other Publix, but I am now driving 25 minutes and paying more just not to deal with the absolute ignorance of the people that work at this store. They don't even follow the policies of the other Publix stores for price matching when out of something. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the waste of time and disgust of dealing with this store and go to the Atlantic Avenue store in Pompano Beach. They should just turn this store over to the neighborhood and let them run it and take the Publix name off of it. Yup, that bad! read more

The service here is consistently terrible with the deli staff being probably the rudest I've encountered (on multiple visits!) Employees will block aisles with no regard for the customer. While the cashiers are usually very nice, there is never a bagger when you need one (although there will be a group of employees gossiping in the front of the store while there is one cashier lane open with no bagger.) Go to 5-points Publix instead - they are always pleasant, well staffed and have none of these issues noted above. read more

I was here tonight at 6:15pm checking out. The slogan should be where shopping is a misery. I have been going there for 17 years. Today they messed up processing the payment again. He rang up more money then I gave him. So instead of canceling the cash order this other staff member canceled it! Why did they have to delete the whole thing??? It must be old dated software that they are too cheap to replace. So the young guy rushed to rescan the items again. Then he got it wrong again! Then they wanted to rescan the items again over 8.00 out 168.00. I said nevermind. I go there because it is near my house. I recommend Aldi's Sprouts and they are on my way home too. Some of the items were custom cut meats which they have to throw out. Due to their incompetence they have upset me and had to throw out more then 14.00 worth of deli food. Shortsighted management probably costs them a lot of lost revenue. I estimate I have spent over 40,000 in the 17 years at that location. Great job not keeping your customers. My phone number is in the receipt and I bet they won't call to apologize as based on the reviews they have. That manager knows me. She has seen me there for many years so definitely wasn't expecting that I would be treated like that. Tall slim black lady with short hair is one of the managers. The guy that rang me up was young and he probably didn't have enough training. He wasn't rude just not properly trained I think? When you have bad reviews you probably don't really work on the training aspects and perhaps you are short staffed due to that? I'm in the service business and I would have just made the call to not put someone through that again for the third time. My reviews are great because I'm not a shortsighted owner. Stopped in for ramen and a few other things as we got tired of eating out and wanted something very simple to make at the hotel. Selection was good and found everything I was looking for. Prices seemed to be very reasonable as well for most items. Cashier was very friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy working there. Was very efficient and in/out in a flash! read more

We dropped into this Publix on our first day in Florida after lunch. Major mistake. We somehow found the worst Publix and silly me, I didn't check Yelp first. While we didn't buy that many 'fresh' items, one of the few things we did buy was deli meat. Upon getting it home and opening it, a smell started to take over the room. Turns out it had expired three months ago - yeah, that smell? It's sadness. Oh and rotten meat. Honestly, it's been so many years since I regularly shopped anywhere dicey enough to have to check the dates (I'm looking at you Rite Aid/Safeway). But there you go, thanks Publix for reminding me. Check the dates if you even mistakenly go to this Publix. But also, maybe check Yelp first and avoid all together. read more

The deli counter did not have one person waiting to be served, as I was the only person. I waited and waited and waited to be taken care of while five deli employees saw me there. A few kept YELLING, "someone will be right with you" and "we have someone at the meat counter". The sub and salad area were busy and that's what the employees were focused on. There was even a deli employee standing behind me stocking potato salad. God forbid this employee STOPPED what they were doing and took care of me. Checkout was a nightmare and people abandoned their full shopping carts. This store needs HELP. read more

I was legit fed up with this Publix about 2 weeks ago with the deli department. You wait FOREVER to get a sub I mean I stood in line for 40 mins and was still 2nd in line when I finally left cause my lunch break was almost up. Order your sandwich online and then just pick it up So I went yesterday and as I'm walking up there is a homeless man who has his area made for a nap. This guy is always in this plaza in a variety of places but HE STOOD AND TOOK A PISS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Best find a better Publix or at least a store in a better location. This is a Publix, and as we know Publix differ considerable in what is a direct correlation to the quality of the neighborhood in which it is located. This Publix isn't in one of the better neighborhoods, hence not one of the better Publix and the customers it attracts tend to be the pregnant women type with 3, 4 or 5 unruly, screaming, misbehaving children, the down and outer hitting you up for spare change, the tripped out druggy, the drunk and a confused elderly tourist or two who have somehow wandered into what they are discovering to be a less than ideal setting. As for the store itself, I could at best go two stars but since I have to deal with what is clearly a less than desirable customer base, I've rated it a one star to be avoided store. read more

The corporation really needs a new and honest slogan. Publix in NOT A PLEASURE TO SHOP in, especially if you need something at the deli. Calling ahead is not an option because I don't trust anyone there to do the right thing when not being supervised. When I have to visit this location which I try my hardest to avoid, you can expect to be harassed by bums, have to check the seals on everything you buy because often items have been opened and resealed, use rubber gloves because the store is so dirty and covered in black mold, be met with surly or very poorly trained employees and please don't forget to wipe your feet on the way out so you don't dirty the neighborhood. I would never let my wife, mother, sister or daughter shop at this wild west wannabe Publix. Even one of our former City Commissioners was harassed at this location. The WestSide deserves better! One of several Publix locations within the general shopping zone that I frequent. This location, however, usually is my 'Publix of last resort.' The building itself is older and the strip mall plaza in which this store is located can be 'sketchy,' if not a tad bit unsettling, to put it politely. A few months back, I stopped into the store for a quick purchase when a screaming, shirtless person clearly under the influence of drugs wandered into the store, refused to leave the customer service counter and had to be removed by the Ft. Lauderdale Police. That's an extreme example, of course, But you get the idea. As far as the shopping experience goes, this one is suitable for very basic purchases. If I need trash bags, dish washing liquid, canned goods, a box of Cheez-Its or a bottle of ketchup, then I'll consider stopping into this location. Otherwise, it's probably best to drive the additional mile or so to one of the other Publix stores in the area. read more

I'm really frustrated with this Publix now. I had to return steaks on Sunday morning that were bought on Friday night on 3 separate occasions because they turned green and smelled horrible! Now, I'm throwing away 80% of the Yuca I buy on the day I bought it because it is rotting inside! The Kale was too wilted to buy for juicing. The asparagus is rotting and smells like a dead animal when you smell it. The artichokes are dried out and Browning on the shelf. Not my favorite Publix. It's a bit older and obviously more dated than most in East Lauderdale. I mean the product is mostly the same, but you expect a certain quality when going to a Publix. It's convenient to stop to and from work, otherwise I go else where. At least the workers are pleasant. read more

I had the worse sub ever. The mojo pork sandwich was too soggy, very strong taste of mojo and pork was hard as if stayed on bottom of steam pan too long. The avocadoes are so cold that by the time they soften, they are molded inside.This store has gotten progressively worse. Time to stay with 5 points Publix. Management there is so much better. This store is larger than the one in at 5 points in Wilton Manors. In this case size doesn't matter. This store is downright nasty. The produce always seems over ripe to rotten. Not sure if it has to do with the freezers but my frozen foods from here always have freezer burn As though they have been thawed out and refrozen. STAY AWAY! Is it worth getting mugged to get a quart of milk?? Go a mile away to another publix!! You will be harassed by druggies/bums/beggers in the parking lot... Probably the worst Publix in Florida. I went to the bakery to get a Spinach empanada and they were BONE DRY when I bit into them they were chalky so I went back to the "Customer Service" which had only one person and about 20 minutes later I was rudely given store credit back. The staff does not smile they dont greet you they are very rude. I will NOT be back. Even pulling in the parking lot you get hassled for money from the homeless people. I'm a regular at this Publix and it just baffles me completely how disorganized and how lost this location and it's employees are. Not only does this store not take common sense into account when there are 15 people in their sandwich line and there is one person making sandwiches. The employees show no sense of urgency to ask another employee for assistance nor does any store manger try to take the matter into their own hands. The store is big enough to carry almost everything I could possibly need, yet not as big as some stores (that I have actually gotten lost in and had a hard time finding my way out of). She was so upset just because I press ok after intering my card to pay for my grocery's. she was yelling at me saying why did you press ok I didn't tell you to do that ,and I was trying to explain to her that in order for the the transaction to go through I have to press ok. This, by far, is the worst Publix I have ever been to. To give you an idea how bad this store is, there is usually a security guard present in the store and two parking spaces for Police Vehicles in the front. As another reviewer mentioned, food here often has freezer burn on it. The store must be 30 years old or older and you can definitely tell that by looking at the condition of the aisles and fixtures. The employees here are not the friendliest at all. I came in one night after 9PM during the week and people were standing around, chatting, texting. No one was working. Do yourself a favor and drive to the Publix on Oakland Park and Federal Highway (in the same complex as Target). It's definitely worth the extra few minutes of driving! read more
