Been here a few times in the past but thus would be the first time I've come back here since before Covid so yeah, it's been a minute since I've been here. The place is pretty large and vast but feels kinda empty, the way how there's space in the middle of the back area, one would think maybe a few live music gigs are played here but I wouldn't know for sure since all of my visits here were around lunchtime. Service while not outstanding was adept enough to be decent. What I had was fairly simple, baked chicken w yellow rice and Peas which is my staple lunch when coming around restaurants like this. A relatively good meal, Chicken was a tad salty and tough but still edible and at the very least, the server could've offered me some hot sauce. All in all, barebones Restaurant with run of the mill yet fairly good food with alright service. The one true bonus is that it's affordable. A meal will run you $15. read more

Good service and lots of variety to choose from. You can see from the counter and pick out what you want. Empanadas have a nice crunch too it and filled with all beef. Must ask for sauce. Can be a bit dry. They also have chinola and tamarind drinks. It's pretty clean and they have seatings inside. read more

LAS PALMAS Italy under a palm tree. As you walk into the Restaurant, Salvatore and his brother Franco greet you into their home. Sitting down I can't help but feel I'm at the family table. I learned that if I asked them what I should eat they will feed you as if you were one of the family. As an Italian, we always measure someones cooking to our mothers. FYI this is 4 stars just for the chicharron I tried a few months ago. They sell it by the pound now and it looked amazing. It doesn't look like your typical strip of pork belly.. no... they cut it up in big chunks. The only issue I had was the huge amount of fat. Yes I know it's chicharron but I cook pork belly also and some markets have leaner cuts. So if you're not afraid of fat..I mean it tasted great, but I ate mostly the pieces with meat. It has good look like alot of seasoning but the chicken is not cleaned and I think the chickens are not healthy beacuse the insides of the baked chicken are sometimes bruised. I used to come here all the time when I worked in Jamaica, Queens and the lunch specials were $4. I was in the nabe and saw the lunch specials were $5 which is still in my budget range. LOL. I ordered the stew chicken, peas and rice. I was disappointed it didnt come with a small side of salad or few plantains but you cant ask for much when you're only paying $5. The food was good and tasty and I definitely had enough to eat for later. They remodeled or change the place around because the seating area looks bigger, I will definitely return when I can. read more

Punta Cana is a nice little super casual Dominican place that serves an awesome portion of food for a great price. The hygiene may be slightly questionable, but I deliberately choose to ignore that in exchange for the tasty hot meal. The lunch deal is great, $5 for a meat, rice, and beans. +$1 for fried plantains. Absolutely nothing to go out of your way for, but if you live/work in the area, the hot meal is really satisfying. I always get the Pollo gisado, yellow rice, beans, and maduros. The chicken is literally fall off-the-bone tender, and overall everything is pretty delicious. If you stay to eat, I believe the prices are generally cheaper than if you take it to go. But if you factor in the tip, it probably averages the same. Also, different servers pack your food differently. One woman haphazardly throws food in, while another carefully structures a space-saving pile of food to get even more for your money. It goes without saying I love the latter woman. I'm also amused that this Dominican place gives you Chinese hot sauce packets. Verdict: Great lunch spot. read more

The customer service is terrible very rude people working there! They treat you the customer as if you are bothering them and the food is cold nasty. They recently fully renovated the place but what needs to be renovated is the staff with the nasty attitude . Quick good and inexpensive food. Came here for a take out $5 lunch special consist of yellow rice, baked chicken and sweet plantains but other choices are available. You can't go wrong with that. I work near by and was drawn by some decent reviews and awesome lunch special prices ($5!). I had the roast pork with yucca. The portion was generous, the pork had good flavor and a nice crackle, and the yucca was decent but a little over-cooked for my taste. I took my food to go, but the interior seemed decent enough and the ladies were very friendly in spite of my gringo appearance. The verdict - a solid three. Bear in mind that a four in my book is pretty awesome and a five is a mind-melting culinary assault on every level, leaving me in a semi-state of food-phoria. Amazing food for great prices. I got the stewed goat lunch special. The goat had a strong flavor and was very soft. Came with beans and rice. The service was quick and the workers were very nice. Cranky hungry Chinese boy on a Tuesday afternoon that just lost his dispute with the department of finance was looking for something to eat. No standing from 4PM-7PM didn't help either. But that didn't stop me from parking in the front and eyeing my car every 5 seconds while I was ordering. Can't believe it was only $5. I have been craving Dominican for a while and I finally got it. I am not going to lie. Whenever I walked past this place I thought to myself "gross". I wouldn't exactly call it clean (hence the loss of a star). My co-worker would sometimes go out, get lunch and bring back this enormous container of food that looked absolutely delicious. When I found out the price (like $6) I was sold. Dirtiness aside, this place reminds me of a family that gets together and just cooks some food using traditional recipes. I really enjoy eating at this restaurant during lunch. If you want authentic Dominican cuisine, I suggest you come here for their $5 lunch specials. They used to be a few doors down in a smaller restaurant, but they have definitely upgrade. I normally wouldn't give 5 stars if a restaurant has only average decor, but I'm biased because I know what their previous place looks like. It gets packed for the lunch crowd especially on Fridays, so try to get there earlier. Finally, if you get a chance, my entree recommendations are the pepper steak, longaniza, and their fried chicken. For appetizers/side dishes I would suggest going with tostones and yellow rice w/ peas. I was walking by on a Saturday afternoon looking for a quick dinner to take to work. A nice guy server said he ll be right with me after he was helping a guy who was trying to convince him to add more food to the smallest square aluminum container ive seen. He did politely and the guy left grateful. I told him i wanted chicken, yellow rice and beans and he showed me a nice small standard dinner size...which 2 people could share. I was like perfect. I was so hungry and in a rush i didnt ask the price. I handed him $20 and he gave me back about $13 or $14 dollars...it was a $10 and a few singles and i just shoved it in my bag as i rushed out.
