I was in Jamaica yesterday and found this place, best Puerto Rican style food I've ever had! Service was great and was very clean. Definitely recommend! Great pricing too!!

LAS PALMAS Italy under a palm tree. As you walk into the Restaurant, Salvatore and his brother Franco greet you into their home. Sitting down I can't help but feel I'm at the family table. I learned that if I asked them what I should eat they will feed you as if you were one of the family. As an Italian, we always measure someones cooking to our mothers. I have to say this is the only place I would take my mother out to eat at. It's nice to know there's a place I can call home in Puerto Plata. LAS PALMAS restaurant.

Stewed Chicken with Yellow Rice & Beans. ($5.00) It's amazing!

$5.00 Spanish Lunch Specials?! - I'M A FAN! Their advertisement outside the restaurant is not a bluff. I ordered take-out, the Roasted Chicken with rice and beans. It was amazing and it was a lot of food! By the time I finished, i was having food coma at my desk! The chicken was so tender and juicy yet so flavorful with their special spices. Rice and beans were cooked to perfection - love the taste when it is still burning hot! Although the restaurant itself does not look attractive but the food was worth every penny! For take-out, just order at the front. The staff behind the counter will serve you. Quick service, they get you in and out in about five minutes.

You cant beat this for $5 lunch special

I used to come here all the time when I worked in Jamaica, Queens and the lunch specials were $4. I was in the nabe and saw the lunch specials were $5 which is still in my budget range. LOL. I ordered the stew chicken, peas and rice. I was disappointed it didnt come with a small side of salad or few plantains but you cant ask for much when you're only paying $5. The food was good and tasty and I definitely had enough to eat for later. They remodeled or change the place around because the seating area looks bigger, I will definitely return when I can.

Steak with peppers and onions with yellow rice and beans!!! Steak is perfect!!!! (I'm still eating it now!!! Lol)

Their locations are not fancy and are the Colombian equivalent of American diners. This means a big menu with a bakery section too. While there are better Colombian places out there, I found this place to be decent. For example, the portion size of their Bandeja Paisa was huge and everything tasted fresh. The pastries (bunuelos and pan de bono) were also good quality and fresh. If you're looking for a Colombian place to take the family that serves everything, Noches de Colombia fits the bill.

We were given an iPad each (to view the menu). When we asked for water they did not provide tapwater even though we asked for it and gave us a bottled water instead (that we had to pay for). After ordering the food it took approximately 30 minutes to arrive. The service was pretty slow. I ordered the carne asada with a side of frijoles since it only comes with white rice, sweet plantains and a potato. The meat itself was really hard to eat. It was very chewy and rough, not a good representation of Carne Asada. The white rice was just plain white rice. The potato had no seasoning on it, and the sweet plantains were super dry, which made them nasty and I couldn't even eat them. The beans had very little flavor or depth compared to other Colombian restaurants. There was no smoky or meat like savoriness, and it only had a very minimal hint of the usual aromatics. It also had a bit of a canned bean hint to it. Not very pleasant. Compared to other Colombian places I've had I would not come back to this place.

However my friend for the bistec salteado and i would HIGHLY recommend that! It was delicious and i wish i got it. My dish with a meat, rice, tostones, and side salad was $20.45. Bring cash if you don't want to pay a little extra and fyi they charge $1 for to-go containers. The service is a bit slow because there's only one server. We're usually here on weekday nights so it's nice and quiet. The staff are extremely nice and quick when it comes to taking our orders. I ordered the pechuaga asada and it really hit the spot. The portion sizes are extremely generous and was so happy I paired it with rice and an order of tostones. The chicken was nicely charred and juicy. The rice was soft and flavorful and honestly I could have just had that by itself! The tostones here though definitely was the best part of my meal. They were a perfect balance of crunchy on the borders but soft inside. They knocked it out of the park with those! Overall, love this spot. If I lived in New York, I'd be coming here all the time whether to dine in or for takeout.
