The dish served was not consistent with the presentation shown in the menu photos, I'm not exaggerating, ita probably half of what is in the plate. When we received the food my father in law went to ask about the plantain since it was not even the half of the plantain yet the photo had the entire plantain. The small piece of plantain was cut in half, so when my father in law went to tell the person in the counter which I'm assuming is the manager, the manager said, "You want me to glue them together?" He was so shocked at the response that he walked away but I found it so disrespectful and unprofessional. My advice to the manager, is fix your deceiving menu pictures and charge a fair price for the small plates you serve but most importantly learn to be a manager, a leader, and learn manners. I was excited to try Punto Rojo while on vacation because I love Colombian breakfast and had heard good things. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment we sat down, the staff treated us poorly -- we received rude looks and dismissive attitudes. We had multiple servers who seemed confused about our table and the bill, and it felt like we were being questioned as if we weren't going to pay, which was insulting. After paying, I ordered a cholado to go. I was clearly waiting for it with my receipt in hand, yet when I walked out, the owner stopped me in a rude and confrontational way demanding to see the receipt, as if I was trying to steal. I showed the receipt, but by then the experience was already ruined. On top of the service issues, the restaurant did not appear clean -- there were flies around our table. I left feeling disrespected and embarrassed, and I will not be returning. I don't recommend this place based on my experience. read more

Today I stop buy one of my favorite restaurants punto rojo. Glad to see they were open during this pandemic. The restaurant was getting a lot of business .and the customers were practicing social distancing. Which is the way to go now and days. I haven't been here in a while, but the food is still delicious, they give you large portions of food for a decent price.the bag was pretty heavy .This restaurant has some of the best Latin food around. From there pastries to their yellow rice and grilled salmon .I tell you this spot is still a top 5 latino restaurant in queens or maybe even in NYC hands down. The food is fresh the restaurant is clean, plus the staff is very friendly and courteous. So shout out to all the staff at punto rojo one of my favorite restaurants in queens. So, I stopped going a few years ago for the same reason, I was around the area last Saturday and thought, let me give them another try and it looks like nothing has changed. Make sure when you order for pick up, you get your full order. I order a plate that comes with avocado and when it got here there was no avocado. The girl did not even tell me when I placed the order or even when I picked it up. I called to let her know they are missing a part of the order and she said "oh yeah the avocados have gone bad". SUCH a shady business practice, it is important to be transparent. I pay for a full order at-least be honest, no when a costumer calls to ask about the rest. I am giving the amount of stars because though the food is good the males that work there make such an uncomfortable setting, the way their service is given would make you want to walk away and as per the females they are awesome but seem scared of the male figure in ten restaurant. I used to love this place until I saw roaches in the glass display where they keep their arepa, breads and empanadas. I showed the manager and he shrugged his shoulders and didn't even offer to give me a refund until after I asked for it. I've spoken to multiple people from the neighborhood who've confirmed with me that they've seen the roaches too. Once you see a few roaches you know that there's more there but they continue to operate without taking any measures to resolve the infestation. I eat here regularly. The food is always fresh and the prices are good. They are always nice and even though I don't speak Spanish they bare along with me and most of the girls are friendly. The prices are good for large portions. I love the fresh juice they offer just like in Colombia. I've never had anything I didn't like from the kitchen but I'm not crazy about most of their cakes. The Colombian Carmel cake is yummy (I always order it for special occasions), and tres leche cake is delicious. The sangria is AMAZING! It's very strong but the taste doesn't suffer. So I placed the order for my cake with a little bit of difficulty because no one there speaks english. I came to pick up the cake and my name was misspelled on the cake! I pointed the mistake out to them and they double checked the receipt and realized the misspelling. The cake emerged a few minutes with my name corrected but in a different shade of green icing. At this point I just shook my head and walked out. I knew how delicious it would be so I didn't really about the minor mistake on the outside. I came in to get a batch of the empanadas which I had previously at a party because of how crunchy the corn is and delicious the meat is inside when you pour some green sauce on it. But the 5 stars are for how welcoming the staff is and polite they were to me. I came out feeling better than before i came in. Punto Rojo catered my party and it was delicious. The roasted chicken, yellow rice and beans were plentiful with leftovers galore. The sweet plantains were not many and not enough for everyone. Aside from that, my only complaint is that they only gave two tiny tablespoons of salad dressing ( i did ask for dressing for the salad and hot sauce. They gave two cup containers of hot sauce which was the right amount so not sure what happened with the salad dressing ) It is a great place for lunch or dinner. The food is fresh and delicious. Why isn't there a negative star rating? This is what this bakery deserves. First incident. My husband has a gluten allergy so I figured his safest bet was an arepa de choclo. The waitress assured him there was no wheat in the arepa. He even had the waitress check with the baker and no wheat. WRONG!!!! There was wheat in the arepa. He brought a sample of the product and as soon I bit into it, I knew this arepa contained wheat flour in it. Why lie and take the risk of getting someone sick. Are you that greedy? So I tell hubby never to go back, but he does because he's always on the road and this time, he orders an empanada de cambrai. Why not? They looked plump and freshly baked. After he pays and he's well on his way, he opens the bag only to find a flat, stiff and unappetizing empanada de cambrai. The lovely waitress place all the fresh products in the front and the old ones on the back of the tray. People beware!!!!!
