Another great find just cruising around looking for another Breakfast spot....... Real old school but clean & classic looking; very airy & plenty of light even with being under the L.... They have an A rating which is always nice to see; our waitress was a sweet heart an older lady like my nana who loves her job loves to feed people ......... If you speak Spanish it's s plus but no necessarily; this is a gem in this neighborhood..... happy people working here they give off good energy & serve great food & coffee..... also they play very enjoyable Spanish music.... I felt like I was on vacation ......... The wife had their 5 Star Breakfast for $ 10.99; French toast, 5 silver dollar pancakes, two eggs with bacon & sausage links ..... was delicious ..... I had my normal; Corn-beef hash & eggs over easy, hash & home fries well done for $ 9.95..... also very good .... We normally would hit Crossbay Diner but they are getting very expensive...... this place has very fair prices n gives awesome table service ...... I've ordered here often mainly because of the lack of options in the area. Especially for takeout. I find that the food is delicious. I like the sauce they use for their mofongo. It actually tastes authentic. Their breakfasts are flavorful. Their buffet options are decent and so are the restaurant hours. I am just upset by how little their portions can be (especially the shrimp) and they have forgotten parts of my order before so that loses a star too. We love this spot for good Dominican food. We've now taken out many times and dined in twice. They have a variety of really delicious options. The times we've dined in pre-covid, we experienced a couple of odd things, like prices being more than stated on the menu, and the receipt not adding up accurately. So we just do takeout there now. The beef stew, roasted chicken, and oxtail are all amazing and highly recommended. They give you plenty of rice to smother all that yummy sauce in. The maduros (sweet plantains) have been consistently harder than we like but maybe that's just what they do. This place is a gem in Richmond Hill/Woodhaven. Definitely check it out! read more

This place is ok. I ordered the garlic shrimp which was amazeballs yummy but for 18 bucks and 7 shrimp, I don't think I'll be ordering again. Also ordered the chicken asopao which tasted a bit off. I figured out it was the chicken. They used bbqed chicken it in so the whole thing tasted a little bit like that charbroiled taste. I could see the blackened chicken skin on some of the parts. The Dominican breakfast is what often get here. It's really delicious.! My main concern is the service. Some days you wait more than an hour for your food and other days your meal is ready within minutes. You just don't always know. I think it's customary to provide water for each person at the table without asking. You have to ask for everything here; you're water to your check. Great diner to get some good Dominican food. I only had tres golpes for breakfast which is my favorite. The Mangú, Over Easy Eggs, Fried Salami and Fried Cheese was delicious and coffee was nice and strong as well. I've had better typical dominican breakfast before and this one was one of the good places close by to me to get this. There are better places to get this food but this really wasn't bad at all. I had the misfortune of having a terrible breakfast here today. The food was average and fine, but the waitress was horrendous. The worst server experience I have ever had dining. I work in the service industry as well, and give people that work in the service industry a lot of slack and leeway, as I know how busy things can be. However today only 3 other parties were seated, so this was not an excuse that could have been made. First my drink order was forgotten about. I just ordered a hot tea. I was not asked if I wanted any milk, sugar, or honey. When I kindly asked for a refill, I politely thanked the server as she poured hot water into my cup, but did so in disgust and turned her back away from me. In her anger she also spilled the hot water onto the table. After losing my appetite from the lack of the most basic customer service, I asked for my leftovers to be packed up. I told the server I could have done it by myself and just needed a plastic container, but they took my plate away and threw the food away. They were obviously not paying attention what I was asking them to do. Finally, the manager came over to apologize. The first of the staff to see how everything was going with the meal. I told him that my food was thrown away by the staff and asked for 50% off my meal, since I only ate 1/2 of my food. Which he agreed to. Truly unsatisfactory, considering how many options of eating establishments there are in New York. That was no way to treat a customer. read more

We both order coffee and look thru the menu, both wanting some mangu... The waitress comes back and ask us are we ready to order and we ask for some mangu and she replies were all out of mangu! Mind you it's 8am! And your of mangu? Really? So we order some yuca instead: she comes back 5 mins later and says were out of yuca, we only have a little piece left! Out of yuca? Mind you it's only 8am! We requested our bill and paid four dollars for two small coffees, waitress didn't say sorry, she didn't have a worry in the world! It was like their own little invention honestly lol it was your typical Dominican styled rice & beans , mixed with some few pieces of seafood. Their offering is what I assume to be, by my informal and nonscientific research, a Dominican style Cuban sandwich, IE sans mayo and mustard (and why would you?!?) which I am accustomed to, being a native of Washington Heights. Delish! Their rice and beans are scrumptious. They've got a full menu for all meals so you can stop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They recently renovated so its a nicer layout than before. I'm no expert on Spanish food, but I eat here about once a month with my Puerto Rican family and they know their Spanish food and love it. There are lots of other Spanish restaurants in the neighborhood, but the food is much better and more authentic (Dominican) here. It's very clean, staff are friendly, and food is always fresh and delicious. A couple things to watch out for: 1) They serve hot buttered bread at the beginning of your meal, but they are stingy on the butter (like most Spanish restaurants, what's that all about?). 2) If your check hits $45 then they automatically include 15% tip so no need to tip again (I'm cool with that, except I wish they would let me know as sometimes I ended up tipping double). read more

Returned here again 3 years later, and guess what ?the service was even more horrendous than before . Young girl with short blonde hair approached our table with attitude like we just inconvenienced her, she handed us over the menu without saying one word to us ... ok.... I let it go I said maybe she said something and I missed it, 15 minutes later passed by and no drink order no waitress. We are looking back trying to give her the hint that we are ready and nothing she just sits down on the chair by the cashier with her back against us. Waited about and extra 3 minutes and nothing no one approached us !!!!! We just grabbed our stuff and left . They are always open late which I appreciate on cold nights when I'm craving a hot large soup. All the soups are awesome and generous portions which I love. The breakfast is always hot and fresh. Excellent. We always get the bistec con cebollo and the pollo de pechuga with white rice, beans and tostones. That rice is the perfect texture and flavor (salty but not too much).
