Came here for Mother's Day lunch. Our server is very good at what he does. I believe his name was Rogelio. Service was very timely. He even gave us time and space while we checked out the menu. This menu had so many things on it. It was quite incredible. If you like Mexican food, this place has something for you one way or another. The host was very friendly, smiled and greeted us at the front door and then when we left, there was a different host that smile and said thank you as well while we're leaving. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Most of the dishes, especially the meat, were underseasoned and bland, and the flavors did not taste authentic to me. They do have an extensive menu and plenty of seating, which may be convenient for larger groups. The main highlight was the house-made flour tortillas, which were fresh and enjoyable. This was our second time going to this location. First time was about 6 months ago and was a great experience. This time my daughter and I wanted to go again and apparently they were short staffed. I felt discriminated because they didn't even consider us and they were not busy. I had ordered a cherry coke and it was flat we were so hungry we ate all the chips, salsa and bean dip and the waiter realized when he passed by so he refilled the chips only and no salsa or beans we had waited a long time to even be acknowledged and for our food to come out. We lended up being there for almost 2 hours. I wanted to walk out but I am not a rude person to do that. I went to Puerto Vallarta with my son for dinner on July 25 a little before 9:00 p.m. and we decided to eat in the bar. Closing time was 10:00 p.m. and there were just two other people in the bar area, so our experience can't be explained by the bar tender being busy or rushing to close. I can honestly say he was the rudest server I've ever experienced in a restaurant. It began when I asked if he could make an Old Fashion bourbon drink, which is a pretty basic request in a fully stocked bar. As part of the request, I asked whether they carried Woodford Reserve bourbon. He responded by pointing to the bar and telling me "go look." His overall demeanor and attitude was terrible. I stuck with water and then asked him if they have a meal on the menu with just a couple of tacos. He responded by saying, "we have side orders," which sounds fine in itself but the way he said it was again very rude. When he brought the tacos, he literally kind of threw the plate down on the table in front of me and walked away. All you Texans and Californias should head on back to y'all's states and stay the hell out of Washington State Mexican restaurants. You want TexMex, guess what you idiot - it's better in Texas. Want a Cali Burrito with a bunch of soggy fries in it? Run for the border coward, you're not gonna get that slop trough here. Don't pull up to Puerto Vallarta expecting your hick city's Mexican egg rolls, or whatever abomination your local hole is serving up on a garbage can lid. What I can promise you is some serious authentic dishes, and some that have been Americanized for your sensitive northern pallet. Portions are plentiful, and I dare you to find a better chip/salsa combo in the state, hell, probably the world. I've eaten here at least once a month for the better part of 30 years, there's still employees that work here since I've been a kid. Service has always been top tier, friendly and professional - I don't know what you foreigners are on about. Get a grip. I can't wait to come to your state to complain about the queso dip not coming with a side of BBQ sauce. Is it spring/summer in WA? Muscle your way out to the patio, enjoy the water feature, throw some chip crumbs to the adorable American Robins. Oh and you know what? A couple weeks I saw that PV has hit the big leagues and are offering 85% of their menu on DoorDash, UberEats and whatever the hell else. Great spot for delicious food and group gatherings. I met up with a group of four for lunch on a Sunday, we were seated quickly and the staff is very friendly. We were having a girls lunch so it took us a while to figure out what we wanted to eat and order, our waiter was patient with us. The pollo asado taco combo I ordered was very good, and extremely filling. I think you can order just the tacos without the rice/beans if you don't want as much food. Went here for happy hour, I had never been. I'm used to going Moctezuma's, which has great food but very pricey. Puerto Vallarta has a really nice restaurant. It's open in the back which is a beautiful large patio with umbrellas and a fireplace. The service was pretty good considering we were a large group. I gave three stars because it was middle-of-the-road, nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad either. I will say being from San Diego, or there is real Mexican food, it's hard to compare in Washington; however, the food wasn't that good to me. I really wanted to love it because the place is really fun and the prices are outstanding for happy hour!! The steak tacos, the meat was chopped so small and it was overcooked so it had absolutely no flavor. There was no seasoning on the meat or anything. I was expecting Carne Asada, I guess. The pork Carnitas tacos were better. The beans were good but lacked seasoning. The chips and salsa are good. Like I said, just lackluster in seasoning and over cooking the meat so much to where there's absolutely no flavor. This review is based on one takeout experience, so I imagine it's better when you dine in. I'm not a huge Mexican food fan to begin with, except for the occasional Cali burrito. But we wanted to give this a shot and both got the basic burrito entree. We did shredded chicken, and it came with beans and rice. I didn't care for the burrito. It appeared thrown together, and the chicken:everything else ratio was way off. I also ordered and paid for guacamole and didn't get it. It felt like a tortilla drowning in toppings with minimal chicken. The poor hostess was so busy with all the pre-Thanksgiving people coming in to eat. We have been in here many times the service is always lack luster but the food is good. Last night 4/14/2026 was awful. The server was so rude. He took our drink orders coke and rootbeer insisted we needed Diet Coke. We said no regular. He brought Diet Coke and Sprite. He brought a not even half full basket of burnt chips which were mostly crumbs. He hoovered behind us while we ordered. Then left and took a longtime returning to take our order. We had eaten the few chips in the basket and was never offered a refill. We got our food. The food was good but my burrito was lukewarm. Probably because the server was too busy chatting with co workers. The one time he passed us we asked for a box and then when he brought that we asked for refills on our drinks. He looked at me and walked off. No refills were given. This guy acted of we had disturbed him by coming in. This was just the icing on the cake. The girl working Valentine's Day was rude too but in her defense it was super busy. This restaurant does not want to give you anything to drink but Coke most everyone I have gone in and ordered root beer they refill it with Coke. Maybe once I have gotten root beer. The servers never go above and beyond they just do the bare minimum. They barely smile if at all. No thank you for dining with us are ever given. The food is good. Having moved from San Diego and now living in Washington for several years, finding quality Mexican food has been challenging. We discovered this small spot, and I was really looking forward to it. I ordered a carne asada burrito and a frozen Margarita, but I was very disappointed. The food was bland with little flavor, and the burrito contained barely any carne asada. Solid option for Mexican food! This is a franchise/chain with several locations I. The state. This location is in a nice area, not far from the harbor. Was seated in a comfortable booth and quickly brought warm chips, salsa, AND a bean dip for free. We ordered nachos with steak enchiladas rancheras (with red sauce and carne asada). went Fri night. ordered their three taco dinner. Yeah three tacos with beans and rice for $25. Seriously? - not much Cheaper items on the menu either. Add a seven dollar Coke which is ridiculous add a tip which our waitress cut very little you're in the $35 range for three tacos and a Coke. She got an attitude like we were bothering her consistently we live in Gig Harbor this is happened multiple times the food is so so the prices are insane the service is not very good will never go back! when you walk out there's four people standing behind the desk two of them are playing on their phones one of them is talking to another waiter and the fourth one stares you in the eyes and doesn't even have the decency to say good night thank you for coming out of four people. We came here for a large birthday dinner tonight. I didn't have high expectations, as I just expected it to be unhealthy American Mexican food. I was actually surprised. They had a decent salad selection and I was able to get a vegetarian salad with my choice of dressing. For a lower calorie option, I could have opted for light or no cheese. The service was very prompt and friendly. It was impressive how quickly they got 11 meals out. I do not enjoy crowded atmospheres or large groups of people, but somehow it was tolerable and although very nice inside, still laid back. I would definitely stop by here again. My wife and I were spending a long holiday in beautiful Gig's Harbor, WA and were looking for some local restaurants to dine at each night of our visit. Happily, we found Puerto Vallarta. Like the other local eateries we visited in this little harbor town, P.V. is relatively small, and on the Friday night we visited, it was packed. We were lucky, though, to be seated almost immediately and our dinner was delightful. The chips and salsa were very good and our meals were fantastic. My combo plate with three items plus rice & beans was huge and my wife's salad plate made her happy. The service was friendly and quick... and we have nothing but great memories of our dinner. Dog sitting at the table ruined my experience A woman with a so called " service dog " was escorted to a booth where she promptly sat the dog on the seat next to her. None of the staff commented on the situation and the check in person got "snippy when I commented about the dog. Service animals are supposed to sit on the floor unobtrusively and NEVER allow to sit at the table where food is served and where people sit. Off the beaten path of the Harbor, you'll find this little gem with a parking lot packed full of cars and a lot of very satisfied bellies. While we were being seated we passed by table after table with the largest plates we've ever seen! 16" plates loaded with food! We really weren't expecting that. Within 1 minute from being seated, we were served chips and salsa and beans and cheese. This salsa is daaaaaang good! Like so good we could have been satisfied with our meal right then. Perfect amount of heat, very fresh, and the texture couldn't have been better. The refried beans also served along side this ridiculous salsa gives your mouth a break from the heat for a blast of flavor. Some of the best refried beans we've had. Before we even ordered we asked if they sold the salsa on its own and you can get a 16oz tub for $5. So worth it! Unfortunately the complimentary salsa was the peak of our meal. We tried the Puerto Vallarta Special with steak, chicken burrito, and a chili rileno. Although all 16 inches of this dish could have fed 2 with even leftovers it could have used a bit more of something. It tasted authentic and delicious but a bit more flavor would be nice. We also tried the surf and turf tacos and these were yummy too with a great sauce. Pouring some of that delicious salsa on the tacos made these just refreshing. The menu is ginormous and we definitely want to try other menu items. We didn't leave without downing a plate of churros and ice cream. The churros were a bit we'll done, but that didn't stop us from finishing off the plate. We left absolutely stuffed with enough for lunch for both of us tomorrow. read more
