Been here a few times with zero issues. I can count on 3 fingers the number of bad reviews I have left over the last several years. I don't like doing it - unless it's exceptionally bad. I get it, everyone has a bad day. This was not that. Today we had a server who unfortunately was less than stellar. I ordered 2 chicken taquitos à la cart with sauce and sour cream on the side. Server told me he could not do this. I told him I've ordered this in the past with no problems. After an eye roll he said he would "ask the kitchen". He never returned to the table to let me know. Instead he showed up with the 2 chicken taquitos and no sides. I asked him where the sauce and sour cream were. He said he can't give me any. I responded "seriously?" After another eye roll, he said he would "ask the kitchen". At this point, I told him I no longer wanted the taquitos. My husband ordered his food with no issue although he did want a smaller portion but that was not an option either. I have never had such terrible service and regrettably we will never be coming back to this location. read more

I'm giving 4 stars primarily due to how impressed we were with how huge and designed this location is and that our server was fast and efficient. Kudos too for making the tortillas and salsa in house, delicious. I always say if the chips aren't warm & fresh w/ good salsa in a Mexican restaurant than you may as well leave. This was a good start, sadly the bean dip they bring wasn't warm and tasted canned. I ordered the taco salad w/ground beef and since it didn't come w/onions & olives (why?) I added that. When it came it looked great but l learned eating it the meat was only under the section sitcom the tortilla shell even though they served it spilling out to one side. The beef was seasoned nice like pot roast mixed w/ground beef but it didn't sit well with me later. I think it's cooked in lard or high fat, not a good mix with hall bladder issues, ugh. But it was a good salad overall and enjoyed the lime/cilantro dressing. Hubby had the garlic shrimp/mushrooms dish that came with beans/rice & soft shells to make your own wraps. He asked for side of lettuce/onions. He enjoyed it, there was a nice portion of shrimp. I thought it had a bit of an odd aftertaste but as long as he was happy. Again beans were likely canned, very generic. Ordered a side of enchilada sauce to dress up the salad and he added to his rice/beans. We'd like to try the Sunday buffet. I stopped for Happy hour recently and was impressed. They o$er comfortable booths and our waitress was so helpfull since it eas my first visit. Her suggestions were spot on and the chips and salsa provided were yummy. Their Happ Hour prices were resonable too. I'm returning to try the othet Happy Hour items when I'm in the area. I enjoyed the experienc and the ADA parking was right outside the bar's door which I found convenient. I'll be back for more. read more

L I went to Puerto Vallarta in Port Orchard for dinner last night and the overall experience was pretty good. The shrimp and spinach enchilada was really good. Plump shrimp and a tangy salsa verde on top. The portion was really huge. I could only finish half and took the other half home. The service was really great, the server was kind and was always around to refill our water and asking us how our food was. The ambiance of the place was really lively. I went during dinner time and the entire restaurant was packed. I had to wait a little bit before being able to sit down. The food came out pretty fast even though the restaurant was packed. Overall the experience was really good. The only negative of my experience was the wait time before being seated. It was a Friday night so that could also be a reason for the long wait. read more

Beautiful atmosphere with lots of booths and tables. Easy access to front door and drive up for patrons with disabilities. The guacamole was made fresh at the table and was delicious and served in a stone bowl. Excellent service from Savanna who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The carne Asada was cooked well but was just okay, but the salsa verde was excellent. Entrees are good, but not excellent for the price of the dishes. Guacamole and sour cream are $1 up charges which seems a little much. I would still recommend restaurant for families and larger groups. read more

Turns out - it's a decent place for groups! They have two fairly good sized meeting rooms that have large doors that fully close and keep the sound of the main dining area out. It was clean and ready for the group when we got there, which was nice. Service was just ok, but we can't truly fault the single waiter that was left to take care of a group of 20+ people. Shame on them for not giving him more support, the poor guy was trying. Not successfully, but trying. I had the crispy fish tacos and my husband had the steak street tacos. We both appreciated the freshly made tortillas and fresh toppings. His steak was well cooked. My fish (Side note - it's cod. I had to ask because the menu just says fish, which I always find to be sketchy) was certainly crispy, but it was almost more breading than fish. And it had been chopped up so much it was a little weird, definitely not the chunks of fish I was expecting. However, it was fairly tasty and the avocado was delicious. We both ordered double Tito's, soda and limes. Pretty simple. And while that was delivered - they arrived in short glasses and typically a double is in a tall. Super picky, I know. And again, I totally chock that up to our server trying to take care of a large room totally solo. All in all - it's a pretty restaurant with decent service and food. And considering it's in PO I'd say that's about as good as you can expect! read more

I had not visited Puerto Vallarta in many years, and I was certainly impressed by the updates to the aesthetic. All of the staff we interacted with also seemed friendly and helpful. However, the food we ordered was mediocre. We enjoyed it, but for the price point expected something a bit better. The chicken fajitas were very mild in flavor. Salsa was the same. There weren't any bold or exciting flavors that we could find in our meal. Still, when we don't feel up to driving the 20 minutes to Silverdale or Gig Harbor for Moctezuma's, this serves as an adequate stand-in. Pro-Tip: In our opinion, the flavor of the corn tortillas worked better with the chicken fajitas (even though the flour tortillas are made in house). read more

Margaritas made from jug juice and soda. My carne asada meal was the most disappointing. The carne asada was very cold to the touch, like it was cooked previously and reheated. My meal that I ordered was definitely sent through the microwave. They offered to remake the meal, once I received the "new plate" it was the same plate, same piece of meat. I ate half of it before I looked at it or knew how disgusting it was going to taste and spit it out. The beans came and they were cold Why bother! After sitting there for 10 minutes. I had to flag down a server at the table next to us for a drink menu. Then after another 10 minutes with no one coming around my husband and I walked up to the host and asked if we could order a drink We ordered 2 Cadillac margaritas. They arrived quickly and were just ok very little ice and citrus doesn't taste fresh. Ok on to the other "food" ! Not sure if that's what it should be called. I ordered shredded beef taco and a ground beef taco At this point I told my husband I am scared to eat here. He mistakenly got the lunch buffet Everything he tried to eat was inedible.He didn't eat much at all. My hard shell tacos came They were swimming in watery substance. I'm thinkingWTF. Love hard shell tacos to be soggy. After one bite onto my shredded beef taco found what looked to be a skinny 4 inch long worm in my food. Took so long for the server to come to our table that we had to order our drinks at the front desk. The server who finally came didn't ask how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The refried beans were brought to the table cold and the meat was greasy and inedible. Absolutely worst Mexican food we ever had. Just flew in from CA and needed a nice meal after a long day. Well...we were pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food was. First of all the exterior of the restaurant is modern and clean looking. The entryway walking in is impressive as is the dining room with its hanging lanterns. Very festive. Starting with the warm chips, great fresh red salsa with hints of onions and cilantro, and a small dish of refried beans and cheese....we knew we were in for a great meal. Getting a carne asada burrito I must say how amazing the steak was. Tender, flavorful, that grilled skirt steak taste, no fatty pieces throughout. Rice was fluffy and had a great flavor as well as the delicious beans. Others at the table raved about the carnitas they got. Flavor and quality throughout. The queso I ordered was also unique and fresh, with a wonderful blend of cheeses. Never thought I would admit this but Puerto Vallarta Restaurant bested the 6 or 7 local places near me in CA. I don't understand the low ratings for this restaurant. It was good. They served salsa and refried beans with the chips, which rocks! I had a house margarita on the rocks with salt (stir it up before you drink!). I also had the pollo en molé, which was good too. Slightly sweet put no strong pungent chocolate aroma you'd expect from molé but still good. The beans were solid, the rice was tender and the chicken was cooked properly as well. Just had the most delicious meal. The Carne Asada(done medium)was outstanding. Throw in a cheese enchilada and a strawberry margarita and you have a meal made in heaven. Came here on Friday around noon with my sister. We ordered from the lunch menu, I ordered the fajita meal with corn tortillas and my sister ordered the chile relleno scrambled egg style. They were so quick to give us chips and salsa with beans after sitting us which was soo nice. I mainly came here for a beer and chips and salsa but after reading the menu we had to order food. My plate was especially hot and my onions/veggies were fresh and seasoned. The rice and beans were covered in cheese and flavorful. No complaints here! Typical of corporate Mexican food. They have the standards, they are consistent, and they have a good bar. I do like watching the tortilla making machine much like visiting Krispy Kreme. They are consistent, but there is nothing special that makes me think we should go to Puerto Vallarta to get the ultimate Mexican feast. This is one of the fancier Mexican restaurants, with the tall ceilings and beautiful murals. There was also a bar-side the had big TVs with the Seahawks playing. The service was smooth, efficient, and very nice. The salsa was on the spicy side, but the flavor was great! We got the table-side made guacamole and it tasted very fresh. The food came out relatively fast for the party of 8 (including a two year old). Everyone was very pleased with their food. There was a lot of good flavor in both my dish and my wife's. My wife got fajitas and the handmade tortillas made me wish I got the fajitas instead, but my burrito was also very good. Another fun thing was that the kids menu included kids margaritas. Obviously, non-alcoholic. This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant and I would love to come back next time we are in the area. If I come back I would love to try something else on the menu, since it does not seem like you can go wrong. Next time my wife and I may split a meal because the portion sizes are HUGE!! We live nearby and we've tried this restaurant on and off over the last few years. It's never been great and lately it's terrible. It has more of the "American" kind of Mexican food versus fresh traditional food from Mexico. It is salty, mushy and covered in so much cheese. You can't even recognize it. Last time I ordered there I got nachos and somehow half the mountain of cheese was sitting in a puddle by itself and half the chips were bare. We complained and they charged us half price, so I took it home and fed it to my dog. It has great ambience and the bar is awesome. read more

I'm from Dallas, Texas. My wife and I just moved here, and this restaurant is the closest mexican food to our house. I would take this over the best Texmex food any day of the week. The food here is ridiculously good. The whole restaurant has beautiful decorations, and creates a real magical atmosphere. The salsa is so unique and awesome. I've been to a few Puerta Vallarta restaurants in the past and thought the food was just fair. We came to the Port Orchard location because friends of ours made the dining choice. I had sort of an idea as to what I would experience but instead of being difficult I went ahead and came here with them. I didn't want anything too involved so I got something fairly simple, tacos. I got the Surf and Turf tacos which has chorizo and shrimp in the tacos as the filling. Surprisingly I liked these tacos better than I thought. The beans and rice weren't bad but I wasn't able to eat the entire plate as it was too much... after tanking up on chips and salsa of course prior. Service was sluggish in places and some of the party we were with had part of their order forgotten. Hopefully it was just a rough spot with the service and it isn't ordinary. read more

Love the remodel of the Port Orchard Restaurant! Sat in the bar with my son and daughter, nestled in a cozy booth. Service was prompt and very friendly. We are so glad we went back to give Puerto Vallarta another try! First, we were greeting by two very friendly and engaging employees at the hostess stand. Neither of them had long nails. :-) Both had smiling faces and we definitely felt welcomed. GREAT! Our server was Alyssa. She was extremely friendly and bubbly (but not overly so) and kept a close eye on us. This time our food came out hot and we both agreed the flavors and quality of the food were excellent. Alyssa checked in with us often, kept our drinks/water filled. She was awesome! One thing I'd like to suggest to PV... some dishes are served on a wooden board. The food cools quickly on them and the boards look well used. I wonder how they are cleaned between uses. I'd rather have a plate. The taste of the food was great and the fresh flour tortillas just don't get any better. We will be back! read more

I could have gone to Taco Bell and ordered off their value menu and been quite satisfied. Yet you may think differently. Again this is my opinion.
