I had a chicka-plow shipped here for an FFL transfer, and lemme tell ya. I'm a black woman walking into a sporting goods store, and everybody there... isn't, if you understand where I'm coming from. However, they were all business and friendly. I told them what I was there for, and they pointed the way to the second floor. All concerns were out the door at that point, except for my fear of heights, but I made it. Anyways, it took maybe all of 10 minutes, $60, and I was out the door with my goods. I'll likely go back there for all the other accessories, holsters, etc. They have an excellent selection for pretty much anything you're into, and the prices seemed to be on par with expectations. I've been going to Puglia's for 40 years. I bought my first shotgun here in the '80s. They've always had a great selection of guns and fishing tackle. They have the good stuff!!! If you want a bargain product, go to Academy or Wal Mart. The staff hunt and fish so they're able to steer you to what you need. I've been treated well upstairs and downstairs. Nothing like coming in and going upstairs to see what optics for rifles are in stock. And the employee working be a true turd and just spewing zero knowledge in regards to optics placement and uses in AR platforms. He was telling me this wknd that because scopes with powers like 3-10/12 wont fit well on and AR10 platform. Because of the larger openings on the barrel end, they cause the shooter to have to raise his head up, almost off the stock, to get a good line of site. He was telling me that for the AR platform, regardless of caliber, a 1-6/8 scope with the smaller diameter tube towards the barrel are specifically designed to keep ur head down and level on the butt stock. Dude may want to do some actual true research and gain actual knowledge cause that's false info to customers to try and push products. I have multiple AR-10 platforms like the one pictured and hmmmmmm no issues. read more

Puglia's is a great local sporting goods store. It looks like they have a great selection of sporting goods, but I was interested in the upstairs firearms section. I was interested in a very specific high end pistol. Puglia's was the only shop in the city with one in stock. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. The price was fair and since I knew exactly what I wanted the process was quick and painless. If your in the market for a quality firearm, Puglia's is the place. read more

Above and beyond. I've been buying baits and lures at Puglia's for a few years. Always good tackle and stock. But my best experience was buying a reel from Anthony over the phone when I couldn't find the inventory anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and willing to help out. They are never out of stock on any product and usually have anything you need. They carry all the big box store products as well and many local businesses that are just taking off with their products. The prices are always reasonable and there is always a sale on their rods and reels. The hunting selection isn't the best but only because of the limited floor room. The gun counter has just about any gun you are looking for and if not, they can order it. They are very knowledgeable on both the first (fishing) floor and the second (hunting/firearm) floor. They sell plenty of ammo as well. Just about the only downside is the parking can get rough for big trucks, especially on a crowded day. read more

I am a fan of this place b/c of their knowledge and visits from product reps; so I can pick their brain and get some great knowledge. Maybe call the salesmen enthusiastic, but at the end of the day they are just sales men. I told the guy I didn't want to spend over $200 on a rod and real setup. So what does he do? Show me almost $400 dollar setup...lol...but it was 20% off I did learn some things about the rod and reels he showed me but what I asked to see, (the fishing 13 omen which they had) I never did get to see. Interesting visit:) When I told the sales guy that was too much I proceeded to walk around and 3 other guys tried to help me. Maybe they were just being nice but my wife is in sales so I felt that trial/close pressure hahah! I visit Puglia's mostly for their firearms upstairs. The guys there are great. They are very helpful and respectful. They are always willing to help and provide good professional service. I have found a couple of high demand firearms here when no one else has had them. They have a lot of accessories and plenty of fishing gear for your liking. read more

Puglias has all kinds of fishing, hunting and sporting gear, including a nice selection of firearms upstairs. It's basically is a Metairie institution. My Dad was going there when I was just a kid. The only thing about this place I don't like is that they have so much stuff it is cluttered and hard to get around without knocking something over. The stair rail actually has sport bags hanging from it for the entire length. Firearms are upstairs. Nice people. read more

Needed a poncho for a football game. Salesman very helpful and got me in and out of there in no time and at $4 I was happy! Yay! Felt great about this place until I found out that others going to the game bought the same emergency poncho at Wal-Mart for $1. Infinitely better service that Wal-Mart (I would never have found help at Wally world, and the whole process would have taken me a half hour, compared to 3 mins). I expect to pay more for the convenience and service, however, 4X the price? I will be back, but a bit more careful! Ha! read more

I went there to purchase a firearm which was located upstairs but it wasn't in stock.(every place i went to didn't have it) Great prices too compared to all the other places I went to. Great place, nice selection on firearms, and nice helpful employees. I had a pistol transferred to them and they did great. Charged a little more for the pistol transfer ($45), but I was fine with that because I trusted them over other gun shops.
