For a smaller farmers market, they had a great range of vendors, from fresh produce and meat to plants to food trucks and local vendor favorites (Crust Pie Co, Brian's Kitchen, etc). This was a great time, and I highly recommend if you get the chance to go! They have something for everyone. The vibe is also a bit calmer than the Rochester Public Market, and there was live jazz music!

This market was in the smaller side with only two rows but they also had several food trucks and live music which were lovely additions. Parking was free and in the same lot as the market. It was fairly packed with cars but it's in a small town where parking in a nearby neighborhood does not seem to be as much of a hassle as it would be in a busier city. I went with two close friends, and we all had a great time enthusiastically sampling the local offerings and even picked up a few favorites to enjoy later. Though there were only two rows, each row had quality products including but not limited to local honey, maple syrup, baked goods, fresh pasta, meats, cheeses, and seasonal produce. One could easily plan a whole balanced meal just with one visit here. A standout for all of us was the Happy Gut Sanctuary that sold the most refreshing Kombucha which we all ended up buying. I also purchased some granola, dairy-free cookies, and freshly made pasta. The pastas I picked up included garlic basil and a Carolina Reaper pasta for my fiancé who loves all things spicy. One of my friends was a local and she plans to definitely go again just to get more Kombucha. Be sure to go early as some booths, especially the ones with freshly made products, start to sell out by the afternoon. Hopefully this was not my last visit to the Rochester area because I look forward to being able to go to this market again to sample and purchase all the seasonal goodies.

Now overall variety of items is low - usually what's in season only but if that's all you're looking for then it's so much easier to maneuver than the Rochester public market is on a busy Saturday. Park over by the former Sears parking area and bring your raiseable bags. On Saturday's Happy Pickle is there and they are the most amazing pickles - discounts depending on how many you buy. Last week I got a huge butternut squash for $1 and hard to find honeynut squash 2/$1. I have purchased tons of red, green and nappa cabbage more than half off what you would pay at the store. Vendors are helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. Check the Greece Ridge calendar prior to heading out as this market is not year round - but definitely a place to find great local produce for cheap.

Only a handful of people were there at 8:30 :) Since it's at the Greece Ridge Mall, there's plenty of parking right up close. No hassle of driving downtown fighting the crowds or finding a place to park. Vendors are friendly and willing to work with you. The prices were fantastic, so much more for your buck! I stocked up on green peppers, onions, garlic, brussel sprouts and potatoes. The onions were my favorite, so big and flavorful. Super convenient, great produce amazing prices!

Yes, I know, not a typical yelp review, or for that matter, a place yelp can call to get…read moreadvertising either. But, perhaps some will find it useful info none the less. On the corner of Rt 39 and Rt 20A in NY (near Leicester) there is a farm stand. In the Spring, Summer and Fall they have produce. You never really know what you will get there, its literally what the farmer drove in from the field that morning. So whatever is ripe and he felt like picking I guess. Recently they have had corn, which really is best if eaten the day its picked, forget Wegmans corn, find a farm stand or farmers market near you and get it that way. Just yesterday they had peaches and plums as well. Some gourds for the upcoming fall season. This is on the honor system. Prices are posted on a few boards, and you go from there. I never need 12 ears of corn, so I just divide by 3 for the 4 I do want. You can do the same. There is a black lockbox there for the money. I happened to be there when one of the farmers was dropping off the corn, so chatted with him for a moment. I have been driving by here for over a decade, and have often stopped by, always thought the honor system was terrific, and let him know that. He did say sometimes people don't pay, and once or twice they have had money stolen, but that for the most part this system worked well. This is a very safe place to stop, there is plenty of room for all cars and its very open and easy to see. So, if you are in the area, do yourself and your stomach a favor and stop here to see if there is anything of interest for you today. Forgot to mention, they also sell wood there, not something I buy, but I noticed it yesterday. I cant comment on the pricing of that, but I can say for 4.25 for 12 ears (+1 or 2 as the sign says) for corn, Im guessing the wood price is reasonable. The peaches were 2.50 for a small basket (and they are very good). And they have some plastic bags to make it easy for you to carry as well. I'm sure its obvious, but just in case, CASH ONLY. Correct change.
