Went here for a birthday party....not for me. Great experience. We were greeted, given a quick safety brief. Signed a few waivers for the kiddos. And let loose on the activities. I will say that the employee there was very engaging and did his best to get the kids going and having fun. And. He was not hovering or in the room which I liked. He led us to one room, set us loose. Led us to the other room after a period of time. Set us loose. Then led us to the birthday room. The birthday room was pretty small but it worked and what's important is that all the kids had a blast. I would go here again or recommend it to a friend with little ones. Adults cannot use the voice stuff but there are seats and massage chairs all around the area so you can sit and relax and watch kids go bonkers. The wave/wind machine is 2$ a pop I think? It's fun to go in once. But that's it.

Absolutely saved the day for my daughter's 7th birthday. Where to start... today we had planned to have my daughter Brooklyn's 7th birthday party at Defy in Tacoma. We pulled into the parking lot & were greeted with pretty much the worst possible thing for our situation- Water pouring out of the building down the street & firetrucks in the parking lot. A water main had just burst & flooded the building. What. A. Nightmare. So basically my daughter's day she'd been planning with 15 of her best friends was about to be scrapped. No one's fault but absolutely horrific luck. In a moment of frantic brainstorming we decided to call Pump It Up of Tacoma to see if by some miracle the kiddos could at least get some fun in together & the day could somehow be salvaged. They Saved. The. Day. With only about 30 minutes notice they were able to accommodate the entire party of about 30 people with a full jump package, a party room, pizza & drinks. Jalen & Ashley were PHENOMENAL with literally no time to prepare. My daughter & ALL her friends had an absolute blast & she's still walking on clouds. Pump It Up took what could've been a heartbreaking disaster & turned into the best birthday party ever. THANK YOU.

A really fun party place for kids! I came here with my step-son who was invited to attend a friend's birthday party. The staff moved the party along through a couple different rooms after so much time had passed. The adults were allowed to play with the kids. First there were slides that went from the floor to the ceiling to slide down. Then there was a boxing ring with gigantic, soft boxing gloves. They had a room with safety googles for the kids to shoot plastic balls at one another through air pumped toy guns. They also had air hockey, regular bounce houses, and more. All of the kids, from ages 6 on up to teenagers, had a blast. So did the parents! The last part was going into a room with a big "throne" for the birthday girl to be sung to where she received a tiara by the staff. They brought in pizza and cake, and she opened her presents. We weren't able to linger as another party was coming in behind us, but that's to be expected. A really great venue!

Fun place for the kids if you pay close attention to your kids some RANDOM man was watching in on our party for the first 15mins. Staff was IN And out of the room and never even questioned it nor did they address him after we told them we didn't know him. The pictures on the add show a room full of bubbles. In reality it's a small bubble machine and it only covers a very small area pretty disappointing actually.

Claw machines, video games, arcade games also at pump it up

This place is awesome! Sometimes I feel like I have trouble finding fun things to do with my child. It gets boring doing the same things every day, and since its Washington, most days it's too cold/ rainy to go to a park or do too many outside activities. This place was A GOLDEN FIND! Did I mention the adults can jump too? The blow up slides are big enough that I actually have fun too. Its cheap, theres 2 different rooms with inflatable fun. Always on the lookout for fun, budget friendly activities to do with my child

Great, local, no-frills bouldering gym in Tacoma. My husband and I moved from the Bay Area to…read moreSeattle and have been checking out the local bouldering scene in the PNW - Climb Tacoma has been one of our favorite gyms to check out on a day pass since it's near my parents. FACILITIES For bouldering? Wide variety of routes for different levels and technical focus. For example, a lot of bouldering gyms we've been to have their routes go vertical to fit more climbing onto a set of panels. I like that Climb Tacoma has options where a route might go across, so I get to practice different climbing techniques. Some routes exercise grip strength, others may be more core or balance focused. It makes the experience more fun and rewarding when you complete the beta. I've only been climbing actively for a little over 7 months and can climb up to V2 routes; my husband can climb up to V5/V6. Climb Tacoma has been great because we're both able to keep busy with how many routes there are. There's even a small area for kids to practice climbing and a fun spray wall to test different holds. My only complaint with their bouldering is that their labeling system can be very confusing - you need to look at the tape color to indicate difficulty... not the color of the hold. For exercising? It's lacking - a very small fitness / workout area with little equipment compared to other climbing gyms in the area. I would say comparable to small fitness centers you get in hotels. That said... I don't come here for that, I come to boulder. LOCATION + PARKING Location is off S 38th ST so really close to Tacoma Mall or the Vietnamese area of S 38th ST... making it pretty convenient for finding food after a climbing session. In terms of crowds, it's never been a problem coming here on the weekends, the day before a holiday, or in the middle of a weekday (ex/ for their Monday special for "Femmes and Themes". Their parking seems a bit small but it's never been an issue for us as we're always able to find a spot. OVERALL Coming from the Bay Area, I appreciate how chill this climbing gym. It doesn't play loud music, people are respectful when it comes to climbing and there aren't "influencer" or gym bro vibea you get from Silicon Valley / SF gyms. If you are looking for a high end gym with the works like towel service, saunas, yoga classes, etc... then I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you're just looking to boulder in the area, this gym is great for that with extremely fair pricing. Other climbing gyms, pricing is understandably higher because there may rope courses with higher overhead. I like that what I pay here is for bouldering... and there are lots of options to choose from. Make sure to check their site for specials like Half Price First Fridays or the $15 "Femmes and Thems" discount (rentals included)!

I am used to the service from a climbing gym back in California, and there, they offer really good hospitality throughout your visit there...not just when you enter the doors to sign in. I will say that the front desk staff was indeed considerate when dealing with the finances so that people who qualify for the discount (i.e. healthcare worker, first responder, student, etc.) were covered. cute ping pong table to rest from the climbing and very clean bathroom. would be nice to have paper towels to really wipe off the chalk, though. wishing health and wellness for those who choose to climb! lots of kids here, too, so this is a cool family bonding activity for y'all to do, if you are into that

Don't go here. Sure…read morethe space is great, the center is clean, the parking is wonderful. And that is it. The staff here for private events are the worst. Firstly, front desk flat out told me no, we couldn't set up the chairs and tables early even though the room wasn't in use and it would cost us extra. Okay, you can't set up early, no problemWhen father came, they told him "well maybe, it may cost extra, we will have to see." Interesting how the answer change for a woman versus a man? Flat no for me and oh we will see for him? Service for the room. The family had reserved the south room with the stage and projector. They had it part of their package as they were going to project a video and wanted the stage for the live band... tell me why they told my friends family "we will have to charge you extra" to get the projector fixed that my friends family paid for?? Why are you telling us you are going to charge us for something you are supposed to provide? Make it make sense? Because we lost that space on the stage the band had to perform on the floor taking space from our dance floor... they refused to compromise/accommodate us for the lack of the thing my friends paid for. We had no dance floor, we had barely any space which we would have had if we actually had the stage. No one really danced, it killed the vibes of what was supposed to be a beautiful coming of age celebration. Honestly, the space may be gorgeous but the service is so atrocious that you shouldn't come here.

Beautiful venue, but the experience was extremely disappointing…read more I hosted my daughter's quinceañera here, and unfortunately the staff made the event far more stressful than it needed to be. They were rude, unaccommodating, and repeatedly interrupted us throughout the night to remind us about wrapping up even though there was no event scheduled after ours. It felt like they were rushing us out the entire time. Initially, we booked the venue when talking to the coordinator that we would be allowed to have our service dog there. The staff was questioning why our service dog was at the party and we have had that conversation already & the coordinator said it would be okay. On top of that, the projector screen was positioned in a way that blocked the stage, and we were told we'd have to pay extra to use the stage even though the issue was due to their equipment being broken before our event. It was unreasonable and frustrating. Overall, the constant interruptions and lack of professionalism from the staff overshadowed what should have been a special celebration. The venue may be beautiful, but the service completely ruined the experience.
