Especially when it's the Boise Zoo. There is zero enrichment, even environment, for the animals here. They all genuinely look depressed. Which is not only depressing, but heartbreaking. These poor animals are in bare enclosures, dying or dead grass, and have zero stimulation. I've been to many zoos, aquariums, and such as a child. I visited the Boise Zoo for free as I was working (not for the zoo, but the company I was working for offered a day at the zoo for our customers and I was one of the employees selected to go with)... You could not pay me to go back and support this zoo. Or, see the absolutely horrible state these animals are forced to live in. For people who don't care about the animals... The bathrooms were c dirty; not maintained at all. Half of the stalls were out of toilet paper and there was no paper towels to dry your hands. The food is priced crazily high. Zero stars if I could.

The family grows and cultivates fresh herbs, freeze dried and fresh organic eggs, and take really good care of their animals. First, we saw their barn, then walked to the cows, then to their orchard, then two chicken coops, and then we met and pet the Goats (my son loved Pongo the best! ), qnd then saw Alpacas. Within the last week, I lost a very important member of my family. My fur Baby Lulu. I had her for…read more17 years and 2 months until I had to say goodbye. I am so sad, and know that I will be for quite a long time , so to ease the pain a bit and help me to stay busy and keep my mind off of losing her, my very beautiful friend decided we should go to Peaceful Belly Farm and relax, have some delicious food, be in nature and around positive people with a beautiful ambience. Of course Peaceful Belly delivered as always. We decided to have a gorgeous glass of Viogner, and thought it would be nice to split a few of the dishes to share. We started with the spinach dip bread bowl, with farm, fresh spinach mixed with a three cheese blend served in a Acme sourdough loaf. The dip was so yummy, creamy and heartwarming, and there were so many layers of flavor. It was just the right amount of salty and the texture was wonderful. It was served in an Acme sourdough loaf which is always delicious. They cut up the top portion of the bowl into small pieces so that we could easily dunk the bread into the dip. It was the perfect way to start the meal. I don't think there was much left of that when all was said and done. The second dish that we decided on together was the deviled eggs. They were beautiful, fresh, farm eggs that were nice and cold and the yolks were whipped beautifully with dill and garlic filling. Garnished on top of the eggs they served this insane, brown sugar, caramelized McIntyre bacon. There were some gorgeous, delicate, yellow, edible flower petals on top which took it over the top aesthetically. They were perfect. It was a serving of four and it was just enough for my friend and I. Last but not least, we had a dish made from homemade chorizo from the James Beard nominated Chef, Dan Ansot of Ansot's Basque restaurant in downtown Boise. It was phenomenal. Made with warm saffron stew that had carrots and sweet pepper, onion and garlic on a creamy polenta base topped with his Basque chorizo and grilling cheese (which is one of my favorite cheeses ever!) It was spicy and so complex. We really enjoyed this dish tremendously. Our server Kayla was wonderful. She checked up on us often, but not too often to make sure that we were enjoying everything and asked if we wanted more wine. The dishes came out in a timely manner and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The atmosphere is gorgeous set in an open space full of greenery and flowers and food growing all about the property, not to mention all of the gorgeous black and white sheep that are grazing peacefully around the restaurant outside. It was a perfect day with a perfect friend with perfect weather and really helped me to set aside the sadness I felt from losing my sweet little fur baby, even if just for a little while. The inside is impeccably clean and a bright open space with plenty of tables. They have a ton of gorgeous dry flowers from all over the property hanging gracefully from the ceiling and they always have fun artwork hanging on the walls. I will always return. I get why people posted them, although they may have had no experience with the farmers, these are farmers, who own and operate Red Chair. The nutshell is this. Red Chair is in Eagle, a relatively small community and the one I live in too, and they hold an annual Lavender Festival just after July 4th every year. This year it was advertised that Old State Saloon would be a part of it, apparently as a vendor for food and drink. Old State is a watering hole in downtown Eagle and the owner has made no bones about his anti-gay and hard right wing perspectives, MAGA hats abound and he has hosted things like the "Hetero" event in downtown Boise last week. Thankfully almost no one showed up there, but let me tell ya', in Eagle people go to his Old State location. I was in there when they first opened, not knowing at that time the owner's orientation, but it was plenty clear pretty fast and I do not support them nor do business with any entity that is in league with them. We consumers vote our values with our wallets. When people found out Old State was involved with the lavender festival at Red Chair, the lambasting of Red Chair started. But Red Chair has cut ties with Old State to do the food and beverage service after the Old State owner's bigoted, homophobic remarks were published in connection with press coverage of the recent downtown Boise event. If you take the time to read the news article here, you'll see this farmer / owners was sort of unaware of the depth of the Old State owner's issues and was just happy someone was willing to help out providing food and beverage vending at the lavender festival. Stayed here during a fishing trip to the Owyhee River in mid-April. The weather was unseasonably…read morecold (it snowed while we were fishing), but we dressed warmly, caught fish, and had a great time. This property has four guestrooms: 2 bunkhouse rooms, which is basically a log cabin split in half with a shared bathroom (toilet and shower) in the back, a yurt, and an RV. I stayed in a one of the bunkhouse rooms and it was charming. Two, double beds (I think that's their proper name), which are fine for one person but would not reasonably hold two. The beds were comfortable and firm, the linens warm and cozy. The room itself was charming, nice little touches like the lamps and the artwork. And, it even had a desk where I could squeeze in a little work while I was otherwise "off grid" (for real, while the ranch has Wi-Fi there is no cell coverage in the Owyhee Canyon. The "hooch" -- the shared kitchen and family room (which some might call a great room) -- is nice. Comfy chairs and couches, a TV (which I didn't use), and a wood burning stove. A nice breakfast layout. A (fancy but essentially camp) stove running off a local propane tank with two burners. Yes, you can pan-fry stuff here -- there are plenty of pans, but you get the strong feeling this is BBQ city once the weather warms up (I saw rotisserie spits and such). All utensils and such are available, plus a coffee pot with coffee and cream in the fridge. (There are also pots under the counter.) Chris and Lori were great, checking in on me on my drive out, greeting me when I arrived, and showing me around the place which, by the way, is in a pretty amazing setting. All in all a lovely trip in a lovely quiet place. This fishing was pretty good, too.
