This is an absolutely beautiful, southern tier destination in the fall. Lots of family fun you can buy tickets for activities but don't necessarily have to. Shopping food and drinks are free admission. I come here every single year and love it like it's my first time. Our family looks forward to our annual trip to Pumpkinville! The entry fee seems pricey, but there are lots of activities for the kids and it's easy to spend 3-4 hours there without spending extra money. They so sell food and drink but you can bring snacks to eat under the pavilion. A few activities cost extra like the gem/fossil dig and apple shooting, but most are included in the admission price. There are tons of great photo opportunities (wooden cut outs, gorgeous sunflower/zinnia fields to stand in front of). Lots of animals to pet and feed. The pumpkins are pricey, but there is a lot of variety. read more

On a crisp and sunny Saturday morning, we decided that nothing says Fall like a trip to Pumpkinville with two small boys. Just a few miles from Ellicottville, this working farm is conveniently located off of RTE 98 on Sugartown Rd., Great Valley NY. Upon entering the property, there is a large public area adjacent to the free parking lot. This area is like a Farmer's Market on steroids. Many vendors offer homegrown fresh fruit, squash, pumpkins, and gourds. You'll find many novelty shops displaying huge varieties of delightful harvest craft items and fall decor, packaged food items, baked goods, souvenirs and cider. The hungry visitor can indulge in chicken BBQ dinners as well as burger and hot dog combos. It was great to see a Pulled Pork sandwich combo among the menu items at the concession stand. There is also a beer wine and hard cider pavilion for adults. The big draw for us, and the sole reason for visiting today was to treat the grandchildren to fun activities in an agricultural setting. We bought all day "Barnyard Blast" passes on my phone, on advice from the ticket cashier which allowed us to save a couple of bucks over the walk up price. The "Barnyard Blast" pass gave us access to over 35 fun family activities, including Pumpkin' Jumpin' Pillow, Fun Zone (including brand NEW obstacle course), Cow Train, Corn Maze, Hayride, Happy Horse Carousel, Pumpkinville Express Train. Try as we might, in over 5 hours we actually could not try every ride or attraction. Our little guys spent a solid hour happily bouncing away at the Pumpkin Jumping Pillow attraction. Then it was time to hit the giant slide a million times before tackling the obstacle course (Navy Seal level!) I don't think i've been this disappointed in a long time. Truly. I called yesterday to see if this place had a "pick your own pumpkins" field where you could physically go into the field and detach the pumpkins from the vines. I was told they offered this and to say I was upset with what I saw would be an extreme understatement. What I saw was not a field of pumpkins ready to be picked, but instead a baron corner of vines and strategically placed (detached) pumpkins to give off the appearance of a "field." This was no field, not even a patch in my opinion. It was a corner of vines. I'm not even upset that we took the drive here because the drive was very beautiful; I'm upset that I was lied to as a ploy to gain customers. read more

At some point between last week and today when we arrived, they changed their pricing and availability of activities. When I last looked, you could still see the animals for free on weekdays AND the weekend alike. Most everything else didn't seem like it had much appeal for older children to justify tickets. Now there's not only a gate fee (which is fine, though I wish the website reflected the change sooner), but it's $17.50 per person, even adults. And I thought $12 for the Great Pumpkin Farm was a bit much, but at least I knew the price going in, and they are explicit about what's included. Here they claim there are 35 activities, but only list a few. From what I could see, I can't imagine where the 35 comes from unless they include breathing and digestion. While my sons were disappointed our weekend trip to the area would totes end without goats, they weren't otherwise sad to leave because they didn't see anything to justify the price either. Maybe it's worth it for small children, but $17.50 just to chaperone them around seems excessive. Double check the website the day of your visit, I guess. read more

Had a great time at Pumpkinville! The drive down was pretty smooth until we reached near Ellicottville where fall fest was also going on. Traffic was backed up! We opted to try and avoid Ellicottville...this is when the adventure began! I thought I did so good finding an alternate route. Little did I know I had taken us up a single lane "seasonal road" right through the woods that lead to a dead end with a very small area to turn around. I could barely contain my laughter, but this so called seasonal road did not look promising from the start. ***So this leads me to my tip....if your GPS sends you down CLARE VALLEY RD. opt to go any other route. *This road will not take you to Pumpkinville. Where we turned around it was over grown with weeds and quite wooded and had a large gate with a stop sign on it that didn't appear to lead to anywhere but woods. Pumpkinville is such a cute spot! Parking was free.. entry in was free.. there is a children's activity area that did cost but we did not partake. They had a variety of small buildings containing colorful corn, apples, painted pumpkins, fall crafts, pumpkin themed items, jams, peanut butter, fudge, basically all the fall things. There was a spot for pumpkin donuts, cookies, and pies, maple items, and kettle corn. They had pumpkins lined up on the ground and squash, apples that you could mix and match, and gourds in containers. Ellicottville brewing had a stand. The cider mill was selling apple cider by the cup hot or cold. They also were selling cider by the gallon, half gallon, cup, and in a cute pumpkin for the kids. The cider is delicious! Not too sweet. For food they had an icecream line and food line. We got some food and even with the long lines they did a pretty good job keeping the line moving and getting the food out to people in order and hot. The burger I got was mediocre but the fries were a delight. They also had a covered area for adult drinks. They had table top fires on some of their tables. I keep finding places I've been to a handful of times, but have never reviewed - it's an epidemic, honestly! But let's get to the real reason you're here. You obviously want to hear me talk up Pumpkinville. Pumpkinville is one of the best places to check out during the Fall, and a must-visit for families with small children. Not only is this market gorgeous, but the drive to their location in Great Valley is pretty beautiful as well (especially during the most wonderful time of the year!). This place will most definitely be crowded if you visit on a weekend and might be a little less busy during the week, but if you can tolerate the lines you'll most likely find yourself standing in you will find that it's well worth the wait! There are a great number of things to do here - there's a cow train, hay rides, a corn maze, a small petting zoo, and a bunch more ways to keep the kids entertained. For the adults, you've got a few stands that sell all sorts of things like fall veggies, Pumpkinville souvenirs, jams and jellies, and assorted knick-nacks. There is also a cider mill on site here, where you can watch them make the cider as well as buy gallons to take home for yourself! They also offer cups of hot or cold cider for you to sip and enjoy for super cheap. Also, don't forget about their little bakery, where they make homemade pumpkin donuts, cookies, bread, and pies. The donuts are to die for, and are incredibly coveted around this time of year. The bakery is probably my second favorite part of visiting Pumpkinville. What's the first, you ask? Well, the pumpkins of course! There are usually dozens of pumpkins laid out next to the cider mill, varying in size and price depending on how big or small they are. But I'll usually forgo that and head straight for the pumpkin patch, where you can pick your own pumpkins right off of the vine! They also serve food here, cooked on site! Hotdogs, hamburgers, etc. If it's hot enough or you're just that much of a daredevil, you can also get some ice cream at the food stand. Admission and parking are both free. No dogs allowed. Excellent place for kids! There are many learning opportunities available regarding pumpkins, farming, gem mining, etc. There are a few souvenir shops, and of course pumpkin donuts, cookies, and pies. A chicken barbecue was also available. In addition, playground areas and bounce houses. They would earn 5-stars, except for this: They advertised a sunflower festival the weekend of September 22/23. It stated you could buy bunches of sunflowers, or pick your own. I was looking forward to a huge bunch of sunflowers to compliment my kitchen. I didnt bring along any kids...this was for me. I pictured a huge field of sunflowers to choose from. Unfortunately, I was shocked seeing a tiny, yes tiny, patch of half-dead sunflowers. The already picked bunches were fully dead. Mildly busy, I waited for students to leave, I could see hot dogs on the flattop from window. Half hour wait for a hotdog, when they were made, only three people in front of me. Three employees working , an employee skipped the line to get a burger. On top of them clearly having no clue how to run a kitchen , they're pretty rude. We've been going here since 2016 and it was one of my favorite pumpkin patches. We had so many memories here. We used to walk around and take pictures and look at the animals, etc. I would purchase rides for my kids depending on what they wanted to do. Not this year. Now it's $17.50 (min) per person to even walk around. I'm not paying $17.50 to go in with my kids when all the rides are kids rides. For me and my two kids it would be over $50!!! No way! It was raining hard and we're not going to do most of the rides and get all wet. We will not be back unless they go back to how it was in the years past where you could walk around and just pay for what rides you wanted. This pumpkin patch sucks now. read more

Now that I am a mom it has become a fall staple in my house. Yes there are pumpkin patch is much closer but they seem to get away from the special old-time feel. There are no amusement park rides here, or pony rides, or food trucks. What you will get is some good old fashion family fun. I'm talking slides made out of piping, a hayride pulled by an old tractor, A jump pillow that lets the kids bounce high in the sky. There is the cow train, as well as the Pumpkinville express. There are of course pumpkins to purchase but we choose to purchase them places that are cheaper. The ride up to great Valley is beautiful with the fall foliage. They do have food and a few treats like funnel cakes and such but we didn't partake in any of that this year. My two boys each got a wristband for $19 and it included unlimited attractions, they even got a put bag of dirt in water and pan it for some gems. This truly is a day that we look forward to every year. I recommend getting there right when it opens because it does get crowded. read more

What a fun stop in the Southern Tier! Smaller than I expected, there is still a lot to do at Pumpkinville. The pumpkin doughnuts are INCREDIBLE ($3.75 for a dozen) and pair perfectly with their hot apple cider ($1). Food and activities are very inexpensive, there is a maple candy/syrup shack, as well as ones for mining, Halloween themed items, freshly made peanut butter and jams, and more! My boyfriend and his brother got the maple cotton candy - it tasted just like melted sugar! There is also a corn maze, corn launcher, and 'mining' area (sifting through dirt for assorted surprises). There is a small outdoor stable area with two ADORABLE oreo colored pigs, a sheep, a pony, and some turkeys. My favorite animals were the goats and miniature chickens - the baby goats and chickens can squeeze out of the fence and run around! There is feed for all of the animals and they welcome it eagerly. Larger pumpkins can be a little expensive here, but there are loads of smaller pumpkins, squash, apples, gourds and more for really affordable prices. This is a small seasonal stand with a lot of family stuff. The variety of pumpkins and apples is fantastic. This place is open 9/13/2014 thru Halloween (10/31/2014, just in case we forgot this date doesn't change). Last year I went closer to Halloween and there were more apples. Plenty of decisions also available. But once your past the farm stand part, there are rides for kiddies (tractor that pulls carts painted like cows). There is a corn maze, you pull them pumpkin patch, goats, chickens, mini horse, piglets, turkeys, and lambs (there are only a few of each), enriched mine "creek", corn gun, and cider press. Some of these have fees. They have bakery with pumpkin donuts. You need to try these! The cider press on weekend has fresh pressed apple cider made that day. Again you need to try this too. Samples are usually available when they are running press. They serve it hot (really really steaming wait fifteen minutes to drink hot) at ice cream stand. Literally a waste of time, gas and especially money. I have been coming here for YEARS! It's been a family tradition that sadly will be ending. We just had a baby not too long ago, so I went inside the paid area with our older son. And my husband stood outside of the paid area with our baby so we didn't have to pay $75 dollars (baby being free) just to watch our son put his face in the characters for pictures or for us to stand by the flowers for pictures or for us to look at the animals because god forbid the food for them would be included. It had rained today so obviously the jump area was closed and everything was extremely muddy. Just as a price comparison, I could go to Waldameer for the same price and that has ten times more things to do. After spending that kind of money just for a train ride, to throw an extremely muddy basketball against a wall and slip and slide my way through the corn maze we decided against spending more money on our usual pumpkins and apples read more

It was my first time going to Pumpkinville, just me and my 3 year old daughter. While we were waiting in line for the hayride, my daughter decided she wanted a water, so I picked a long line and stood in it, this particular line just sold donuts.. No water. So we went over and stood in another long line. When it was our turn, I ordered one bottle of water. I took the bottle to a table and sat down. I noticed there was no label on the bottle, so I gave it a spin, thank goodness I did! There was a maggot on the top of the water bottle, right below where our mouths would have went. Absolutely disgusted, I took the bottle right back, and the woman rudely exclaimed "that's not a maggot, but whatever" and tried to hand me another bottled water. I told her I would never give my daughter another bottle of water that she got from the same place where a maggot was just found on the last one. I'm glad we didn't eat anything there, because if a maggot was found on a bottled water, who knows what where they make and prep food looks like. Gross. And no, I won't be going back. read more

Wow, no other pumpkin patch will be the same now after visiting Pumpkinville. This place is so idyllic that I felt like I was in a Hallmark movie. You can pick pumpkins from the patch, or choose from a selection already picked (organized by size and price). They even had pumpkins already painted available. There were several barns full of different types of stuff. They have a multitude of photo ops and family fun activities such as a corn maze, hay rides, spook barn, and barn animals to feed. For refreshments, they have everything from fresh pressed cider (they make it onsite), to donuts, to ice cream, to apple slices with house made caramel sauce (yeah to us wheat sensitive folk). Fall will now never be the same without a visit to Pumpkinville, as we don't have anything like this in TX. I thought this place was amazing, but I kinda don't want to say that, because I've been learning that I often get disappointed if I get hyped up by other people's reviews in WNY. But, let me tell you how I had a great time. So, we were in Ellicottville and happened to see a sign that said "Pumpkinville." We just got so curious, we had to check it out. Having been greatly disappointed at the sculpture garden, we kept on saying how pumpkinville would have like 2 pumpkins. There were A LOT more like a corn maze and animals, but I will not tell you, so you can discover it yourself. The freshly pressed apple cider was great. Pumpkin donut was mostly sugar. Lots of free parking/free entrance, 15 minutes from Ellicottville. I would recommend that you NOT read the description from advertisements, because I did that afterward, and I can tell you I would've been extremely angry and the experience would've been ruined (i.e. advertised "goat mountain" in actually was some small pile of hay that baby goats ate). read more

I have visited Pumpkinville maybe 4 times in the past 8 years. I am 40, my daughter is 11. I have seen Pumpkinville change. It used to be a nice sized place with small crowds and we always had a nice time. It has been probably 2 years since I have been there. I won't go back. Its just too busy. Yes, it was a beautiful day on a holiday weekend. But being an hour drive for us, its just not worth it. The lines were long- even INSIDE the corn maze. The corn maze used to have 'hole punch' stations hidden inside. You'd find all punches, and get a mini pumpkin at the end. Now- you find 3 stations at which you trace eyes/nose/mouth onto a paper pumpkin. Then at the end, you look on a poster to find your pumpkin and find out its name. So that means, that at each 'station' inside the maze, is a line of kids and parents waiting at least 10 minutes to trace (and most stand there to color in) the eyes/nose/mouth depending on what station you are at. The chicken dinners were sold out. On the plus side- the donuts were AMAZING. Love, love, love the donuts. I'd suggest going on a day/time when there may not be so many people, if possible. Especially if you have little ones. I saw plenty of temper tantrums by kids waiting and waiting in those lines.... Also- pumpkins are pricey. I would never pay $20 for a large (not huge) pumpkin. We found comparable pumpkins on the way home being sold roadside for $5. If you live close, or just don't mind the drive or don't mind the lines and the crowds, then you'd like it. Otherwise, don't do it OR try to go when it may be less crowded. read more
