I'm not from the area and was visiting Meridian. I gotta say that Punjab Palace is legit!! I was pleasantly surprised. My uber driver recommended this place and he said that he gets many Uber Eats orders from this restaurant. He said that all the food is good here. I tried a chicken and a lamb dish. I'd recommend not getting a dry dish though; I wish I got my chicken dish with sauce to dip my naan bread in. Highly recommend the mango lassi. It was delicious and refreshing. Also, I highly suggest getting naan bread. The restaurant interior is not fancy or well decorated but I didn't mind. I like no-frills Indian spots. I didn't know there was an automatic Indian place in Meridian but there is. I found it on Yelp and the directions were right on. The place is attached to a hotel and looks like it was a conference center. The restaurant is a large room with the food prep is in an adjoining room. The serving area is folding tables and chairs. That gives the place a funky feel. But it didn't affect the food. I ordered lamb and dal. The food was great and there was lot of it. I was the only patron who wasn't from the Indian subcontinent. Came in at 8:45 PM on a Tuesday, after traveling all day, and staying in the motel next door. The restaurant closes at 9:30, so we were just in time. There was one other family in the restaurant, and we had to ring the bell to alert someone working that we were there, but a man came and we were told to seat ourselves. The restaurant is one big room, with several booths and tables, and a TV screen with music playing and the entrance to a unisex single bathroom. Soon after, he came back with menus, then water, and we quickly decided what to eat. I went for the butter chicken with garlic naan, while my parents opted for saag paneer and roti. They brought out the food and baskets of bread quite quickly, and it was all piping hot and seemed fresh! We quickly broke into the food, and it was quite good. Really flavorful, a tad heavy on the ginger, and overall great! 2 dishes and two baskets of bread was more than enough for three of us, and the entrees also came with rice which was nice for us. Take out at a next level goodness! We had the Butter Chicken which was excellent. It was spicy and flavorful without being too hot. The sauce was just the perfect blend of seasonings. The basmati rice is prepared in the Indian way, tender and not sticky. Chicken Biryani is a good choice, too. Went in with my 25yo & 15yo a while back. At the time, no TVs were plugged in and no music was playing - which we immensely enjoyed. A welcome change to the blaring music & TVs in just about every restaurant in town. I think the man who waited on us was the owner. He was very friendly. The food was delicious even though I was surprised to find my teen's order of shrimp was spicier than anything else we ordered. I asked for 3 orders of naan and the man questioned me twice. Lol. Yes, we love their garlic naan and had plenty of it to eat with our leftovers. I'm now thinking we'll ask for 4 orders of naan next time. Great place! The tandoori chicken I just ordered was amazing! It was spicy & full of flavor, as I expected for Indian food. I ordered a garlic naan and onion naan as well. The menu didn't state that rice came with the chicken, so I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered it for delivery & it was piping hot when it arrived at my door. Great, fast service! The food is so flavorful, delicious and hot. The service is amazing. I'm glad the Meridian restaurant scene is becoming so ethnically diverse to represent the multicultural aspect of our city. Grabbed lunch from Punjab Palace - Authentic Indian Cuisine in Meridian today. Landed on the Chicken Tikka Masala as well as the Garlic Naan. The spice mixture in the Chicken Tikka Masala was excellent with a very subtle heat as a kicker. The Garlic Naan has the perfect amount of char on it and just the right amount of garlic not overpowering. All in all a delicious meal. If you're in the Meridian area and have a taste for Indian food you should definitely check them out. read more

If you're looking for fancy decorations or atmosphere, this is not your place. There's no music playing, it's a very humble place. However, what they lack in aesthetics they far surpass in food and flavor. I stuck with my normal butter chicken, my s/o got tikka masala. We also ordered garlic naan and cheese naan. When I tell you this is THE BEST Indian food I've had stateside, I mean this is THE BEST. Service was quick and friendly despite a slight language barrier. We decided to check this place out because we'd heard good things about it, and also heard to not judge it based on the uh, decor. Or extreme lack of decor. It looks like an oldies retirement home from 1982. And the table was sticky, kinda grubby. Didn't start out well. Here we go. Food: 5 outta 5 Chicken tikka masala for me and butter chicken for my wife. So flavorful. Not much heat, but was savory and delicious. It actually scratched my Japanese curry itch for me and with the order of garlic naan bread (which I dipped in the curry), I was also able to scratch a pizza itch too. It was awesomely unexpected. I cleaned my bowl. Customer service: 4 outta 5 He was friendly, but didn't refill my ice water. Or see how the food was. Basic, fairly prompt food delivery. Decor: 2 outta 5 Almost went with a 1 on this, but I'm gonna give it a 2 because it was functional. Hard chairs. No music. Ugly bathroom. Grubby, old carpet. The hope is that they'll have success here and get with the program and make it look good in there. Value: 5 outta 5 Entrees were 13.99, Naan was about $4. So delicious though. This is very good Indian food. Spicy and flavorful with good naan (bread). I personally prefer the Chicken Masala. There are also deserts. My favorite is the Gulab, which is similar to a funnel cake but sweeter and soaked in a glaze. The service is friendly and attentive with food and drink brought quickly. Just ate lunch at the Punjab Palace on the Frontage Road in Meridian, MS. My son ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, while I ordered the Butter Chicken. The location was once the Checkerboard, so it is not a new facility, but it was clean and neat. The staff were friendly and quick. The food was incredible! I mean, incredible. Best Butter Chicken I have ever had. The Naan was perfect. We will go back. Their hours are 11 am to 10 PM EVERY DAY. I can't brag enough about it. Next time I will try the Chicken Currie. Update: I ordered take out this time. When I arrived home I realized they forgot to give me rice. Rice is a necessity for Indian food! You can't just eat the stew by itself. I live 20 minutes away. I called them and told them they can either send me/deliver me the rice or they can refund me for my meal, because I was not gonna drive back there for another 20, then drive home again for another 20, making my trip to this place total of 80 minutes.
