We arrive when it was just opening for the evening. This was our first visit. The decor is lovely. The hostess was nice and took us to a table. Our server brought us waters and we ask what was on their happy hour. 20% off appetizers and cocktails. We order spicy tuna nachos and Brisket egg rolls for appetizers. The nachos were good but we could not tell that the tuna was marinated. The eggs roll were great! I order the Yellowfin Tuna, the salad was great, the tuna was dry. My husband order the pizza. He was not impressed with it. We also thought our service was great when she was there but she was only there to take our order, after the entrees were delivered and then we waited to get a check. We drove from Laurel so it did not impress us enough to come back.

We just adore this place. We are from out of town and love going here when we are in the area visiting family. Our server was pleasant and took great care of us! They have yummy cocktails and a good wine list. I love how cozy this restaurant feels around the holidays with the moody lighting and vibrant Christmas tree in the middle of the dining room. Ambiance is perfect! We tried the brisket egg rolls which were AMAZING! They came out piping hot and packed with flavor. I tried their creole carbonara which was a huge portion packed with lots of meats. My husband got the filet which was tender and came with these dreamy truffle mashed potatoes. For dessert we tried the banana creme brûlée - I will be dreaming about this combination of my two favorite things - bananas and creme brûlée . Very well executed. My in laws got the pecan chocolate pie and gobbled up every last bite! Overall, just a lovely place for dinner.

The lettuce wraps and the truffle fries are a great choice. On Wednesday night there's an all night happy hour special on drinks and appetizers. Great place for dinner if you're staying at the ThreeFoot Hotel... Just a quick walk across the street.

Overall 3 Stars - restaurant has potential but lacks in areas... Local restaurant in the heart of downtown Meridian. It is considered a local favorite but not for us. 3.5 Stars - Ambiance - a rustic modern feel with dark decor to give you the intimate, hip, casual vibe. There are plenty of tables, mostly 4 seater tables and chairs but a few had benches. Outside seating had more 2 seater tables. The is a small bar when you walk in with about 4-6 chairs. Also, the seating environment is an open concept so the noise level will elevate when there are more patrons arrive. They have a room upstair which is reserved for more a private gathering. However, the noise level can get quite loud when a jovial party is happening cuz the sound carries down to the main dining room. They have a flimsy black curtain for privacy only. It doesn't reduce the sound at all. 3.75 Stars Service: all staff members wore black shirts and black pants but only one person had a black dress shirt while others wore simple t-shirts. It might have been his designer preference. We arrive before 5 and were seated immediately. Note: maybe because we arrive before the dinner rush, the staff were more "laid" back than expected. However our server was the exception. 4.5 Stars - Our server was the one with the nice dress shirt and he was professional, friendly and accommodating. He suggested a special and then proceeded to take our drinks and meal selections. Normally, we would wait to order our meal but we had another engagement to attend. 3 - 3.5 Stars Food: the food was ok. Nothing exceptional. Starters (Appetizer): 1. 3 Stars Brisket Spring Rolls: $13 slowed cooked brisket with pickled jalapeños, and shallots served with a house and white bbq sauce. You get three spring rolls sliced in half to share or not. Well, we couldn't taste any of the pickled jalapeños. It was bland to us even with the sweeten sauce. We added a lemon juice to add some citric acid and it helped with the flavor. NOTE: is has potential to be so much better 2. 3.5 Stars Cast Iron Chips - kettle chips slightly salted drizzled with melts blue cheese, scallions and smoke apple wood bacon. It was good but needed a little bit more salt. The chips were fried and crunchy. The melted blue cheese went well with the bacon and scallions. It was delicious Salads: 1. 3.25 Stars Asian Mixed Greens $10 - mixed greens w edamame, sliced mandarin, sunflower seeds, radish and crispy wontons w a ginger soy vinaigrette. It was good but required some citric acid to balance the ginger and soy vinaigrette. The mandarin were on the sweet side than sour side to the lemon squeeze help balance the flavor. The edamame was fresh and crunchy. Though the salad looked big, it will not satisfy your hunger especially if you prefer protein in your salad. 2. 3 Stars Rocket 88 - $10 mixed Arugula and Spinach w sliced Granny Smith apples, cranberries, honey spiced walnuts, goat cheese and carrots tossed in a champagne vinaigrette. My wife order this and I wasn't too impressed with it. Why? The mixed greens had more lettuce than spinach or arugula and it was wilted and tossed due to the heaping amount of the vinaigrette. However my wife ate it while we trying to finish the other starters. She didn't realized it until she was halfway done. Even our server made a comment about it and asked her if she would like a new salad made for her. She politely declined. Do I recommend this place? Maybe. It would not be my "go-to" place just because the quality and type of food being served. It has SO much potential to be better and I love rooting for a local business to be great. With that said, if we do come back, maybe we will try lunch and I sure hope we get the same server.

Back again and we had great service tonight! Brandi (hopefully I am spelling it right) helped us and she knows the me u inside and out; she was awesome! Plus, Harvest Grill is right downtown and has a great atmosphere inside with a small patio outside. We started off with Char--Grilled Oysters and they were 3/10. Some had been cooked so long the poor oyster had shriveled up to almost dust. The others some were ok, one was pretty good but none of them were like OMG. They were not filled with that buttery parmesan goodness. Brandi was nice enough to take some of the worst back and the new ones were quite a bit better but not 10/10. Meals were better thankfully. One entree was the Creole Carbonara and that looked amazing. A cheesy pasta bowl with a light cream sauce with shrimp, chicken, andouille, snap peas over penne pasta. None of the entrees jumped out at me so I got their Fish N Chips with Truffle Fried. The fish was battered pretty well, a little greasy, just two pieces of catfish. Then, the truffle fries were way too soggy. Not one had any crisp to it. They tasted alright but I did not eat very many of them.

    Calamari and brisket eggrolls

I will probably not order the brisket eggrolls again , not because they weren't good, but because I don't prefer the combination. They were, however, seasoned well and had a great taste. I'm glad I tried them, but it's just not working for me mentally. It's my hang up -- by all means try them. The calamari is slamming! The sauce they give to accompany the calamari is a hoot!

The food had great flavor and service was good. Our server was lovely, but got pretty busy after taking our order. The ambience was nice with trees and lights inside. We love that the restaurant is locally Chef owned!

Mar 2023 Clean spot. Sat at the bar for an evening spell. Limited vegetarian options. Drink and water refills were infrequent and bartender was busy churning throughout. Service helped with any questions that I had but once the food dropped were non existent. The drinks were probably the standout I'd say. I had gotten a berry smash, pimento bites and stuffed portobello. The smash had a good balance to it with a nice sweetness on the end. The pimento worked well and I liked the sweet dip on the side to even out the heaviness of the cheese. The stuffed portobello didn't work that well though. The portobello was dry and hard to chew through, and there wasn't a sauce to gel it together or soften it over time. Made it long to get through overall. Decent spot but not many options on the entree side for my diet. If there was a happy hour and I was in the area though, I'd try out more of the appetizer options.

My husband and I are on day one of our cross country relocation from Texas to Virginia and Meridian, Ms was our first stop. After a lovely 8 hour drive (first of three) we were both sick of munching on junk food, and stopped at Harvest Grill for a bite! And my oh my how happily surprised we're we! This little family owned restaurant is chic but casual, perfect for a dinner date or family night out (so long as you're okay with the price). The menu boasts a wide array of options ranging from carnivorous to vegan, and everything we ordered was delightful! My husband and I had a kolsch beer and Argentinian Malbec which were pleasant. We ordered the edamame with sauce and teriyaki- which was delicious. He got the fish and chips and I ordered the Brussels sprouts (which were to die for!) and the portobello mushroom dish (I am mostly vegetarian). Everything was savory and filling, - and we would have ordered dessert had we the room. The service was great! I wish I had gotten our server's name but he was wonderful: friendly, attentive and quick to take our questions or additional orders. Definitely stop in here for a healthy - and tasty - bite to eat!

Traveling we stopped for the night in Meridian. It's a very cute and quiet place. I showed my husband a places to eat on Yelp in the area. He and his parents decided on Harvest Grill. It's very nice! They have a cute patio area out front. Inside is a very cozy. Dim lighting and nicely decorated. Our waiter for was very helpful and nice. Everyone seemed to really enjoy what they ordered.

Ambiance - A locally owned gas store / deli, you can order a variety of FRIED food, both Surf or Turf, plates, family style or a la cart. The only fresh seafood they might have is Crawfish, when in seasoned. There are three or four small tables to seat and eat. I recommend as order as takeout. Service - the staff were fast and friendly. With a steady supply of locals coming through, they ready to take your order. The deli section is stocked with a lot of fried items so you can get your food quicker. However, I would recommend to get one of their PoBoy sandwiches. You won't go wrong. You may have to wait 5-10 minutes but it worth it. Food - 4 Stars Shrimp PoBoy combo w fries and drink. $13.99 I would have given it 5 stars but the fries were overcooked and too crunchy. The quality of the potato of the fries could be better too. The bread was fluffy and toasty just as it should be for a PoBoy! The amount of shrimp was overwhelming. See pictures. The sandwhich came w lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes. No mayo. I ordered the 8" combo meal but they have a 6" size, if you counting your calories because your cholesterol will still be high with the amount of fried food! Oh, I forgot, they have shrimp fried rice too. So get a side order! I forgot to order mine. Bummer. Enjoy

-- Good Intentions, Poor Execution…read more Let me start by saying I wanted to like Don P's. Friday lunch, only three other tables occupied, and a menu that had real potential. Unfortunately, the experience fell short from the moment we walked in until we tracked someone down just to pay and leave. ________________________________________ First Impressions No greeting. No hostess. We stood at the entrance long enough to feel awkward before walking up to the counter ourselves to ask the basics -- do we seat ourselves? Is there table service? They clearly saw us, but ignored us. Not a great start for a sit-down restaurant. ________________________________________ Atmosphere & Presentation The décor is trying to do something, but it lands closer to glitzy-cheap than charming. More noticeable: the food arrived in takeout containers with plastic utensils, and drinks came in disposable cups. At a table-service restaurant. At lunch. No aprons, no uniforms on the staff -- nothing that signals "we take this seriously." ________________________________________ The Food OG Gumbo -- 3/10 I've driven hours out of my way for great gumbo. This wasn't it. Okra, andouille, chicken, shrimp -- the ingredients were there, but the broth was thin and watery in a way I've genuinely never experienced before. It's not the worst gumbo I've ever had (chain restaurants hold that title), but it was very substandard, a real disappointment. Cajun Pasta -- 2/10 This one was rough. Overcooked pasta, bordering on paste, and salted so aggressively it tasted almost intentional -- like Cajun seasoning AND an extra round of salt was added separately. Nearly inedible, and I don't use that word lightly. ________________________________________ Service Virtually nonexistent. We were ignored for most of the meal and had to physically hunt down our server to get the check -- so we could leave and go eat somewhere else. That about sums it up. ________________________________________ Final Thoughts Don P's isn't without potential -- the concept is there, and the food came out hot and fast. But hot and fast doesn't cover watery gumbo, over-seasoned pasta, disposable everything, and a staff that seemed indifferent to our presence. With some serious attention to food quality, service standards, and basic dining room professionalism, this place could be something. Right now, it's not. Would I return? No. Would I recommend it? Not yet.

Overall: Solid 3 Stars…read more A recent addition to the city of Meridian. Ample seating inside and a few tables outside. Has the Cajun Bayou decor with colorful beads and various college flags hanging from the ceiling. Open and spacious with a variety beers and a limited selected of nonalcoholic items. Music blaring country outlaw music Service is quick and efficient. Food is served in a takeout container as shown in picture. Their menu has LIMITED food options. What you see is what you "git". The menu is hard to read from the background picture. There are ZERO sandwiches, just "dine in plates" I ordered OG Gumbo: Shrimp, Sausage, Chicken, Okra and Rice 3 Stars - it was good but nothing extraordinary. The roux was light, the different meat was tendered and rice was good but it was lacking something. The star of the show was the Cajun Potato Salad. A mustard base with creamy eggs, red potatoes and slivers of bacon. It was delicious. It is served with a slice of French bread which is good to slop up the roux gravy. For $14, I thought it was a little expensive. So do I recommend this place, it is a No and Yes. No, if you want a PoBoy or any Cajun Sandwiches. Yes, if you want dine in plates with the Cajun flare. However, I will probably wait until they start serving sandwiches. Also, current hours of operation is Sunday and Monday Closed Tuesday - Thursday 11-7 Friday - Saturday 11-9

The exposed brick and thoughtful décor struck the perfect balance--classic and nostalgic with just the right touch of modern style. We were immediately welcomed by the sweetest hostess (I hate that I can't remember her name--she had glasses, a beautiful smile, and the cutest dress). She greeted us with genuine warmth and hospitality that's hard to come by these days. She led us into the main dining room and seated us at a charming table dressed in crisp white linens. The space featured more exposed brick, tasteful artwork, and just the right amount of décor. The temperature was perfect, and the tables were spaced far enough apart to create an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter arrived promptly and was both friendly and knowledgeable. He clearly knew his craft and took the time to walk us through the specials, making sure we felt confident and excited about our choices. We ordered sweet tea, which was perfectly brewed--not overly sweet, just right. The complimentary peanut butter and crackers were something new to us, but after reading about the history behind it, we appreciated the thoughtful touch even more. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was fresh and cooked to order. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, the cheeseburger, and a special featuring a panini with a cup of gumbo. Each entrée came with perfectly cooked homemade chips. Every bite was spot-on--truly a 10 out of 10. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist ordering dessert--when in Rome, right? We chose the peanut butter pie and the famous Black Bottom pie. After one bite of those generously sized slices, we all paused and just looked at each other. I don't exaggerate when I say we unanimously agreed they were the best pies we've ever had. What started as a plan to sample a few bites and take the rest to go ended with two completely empty plates. We consider ourselves food lovers, and I genuinely couldn't find a single flaw in the entire experience. We live nearly three hours away and are already planning a trip back. If you've made it this far in my amateur review, thank you--and I truly hope you get the chance to experience this wonderful, history-filled gem for yourself.
