It's a really small place with only two tables, so be prepared to get it to-go if the tables are already taken. We got the steak combo #4, and it was more than enough for the two of us (maybe even 3 girls if your friends don't eat much). It came with salad, rice, beans, and platanos. Unbelievable!!! Originally wanted to go to Kura Sushi 2 doors down and there was a 5 hour wait. Decided to try Punta Cana instead. We were unsure about this place and just purchased the Oxtail special. It was fantastic. Rice was cooked perfectly and beans were just excellent. Maybe because I'm from the islands I'm very picky about my Spanish food but really this place is way too expensive for the food they are selling. Go to bergenline and you can find "platos principales" for under $10. I have to say the fried fish was good and fresh but needed more flavor either in the batter or maybe some like pickled onion on the side. The beans I'm very disappointed in. Where is the pumpkin, and ham hock and the seasoning!?! I really hope they do well as this is a much needed variety in the sea of korean and Chinese restaraunts. read more

I ordered a combo 4 which online was 19.99. I come in to pick it up find out they did not update it and its 25. Ok i pay with no issues. Pick up my food get home, and realize salad which says online has avocado in it has none. I call and the woman owner picks up and says if you dont want dont eat it and return it and says ba bye and hangs up on me. I call back asking for her name and she says with attitude im the owner and again hangs up on me when i tell her i will write her a review. Not only is she disrespectful and completely rude, the food also was complete garbage. Steak was like eating a band of rubber bands and everything else was not even ok. But the few times I've visited Punta Cana Restaurant; the expected Dominican service are embarrassingly disappointing. The front counter staff are shamefully unfriendly and act as if the customers are burdens. First time we ordered from here the food was so good and fresh! We had it delivered, the chicken was so juicy and warm. The next 2 times we ordered delivery the quality got worse, chicken was so dry and too well done, room temperature at best. Finding Dominican food in the area is so hard that when I saw this place I didn't care about prices I just threw money down. Their prices are really great though so that's a bonus. They have food prepped on the side ready to go if you're looking for something fast and delicious. I recommend trying any of their mofongos, they're so delicious but you'll have to wait a bit. Forewarning they only have two small tables so it's best to bring it home or elsewhere if you have a large group. read more

I absolutely love the food here, I've tried a few of their dishes but the mangu is my #1. I get it almost every weekend and it's always perfect. The service is always great too everyone who answers the phone when I call to order ahead is pleasant and helpful (better to call ahead because they do sell out of certain things which should tell you how good it is). The owners are usually there every day which I feel makes a big difference compared to other places, they care about their customers and their business succeeding. I've stopped in for pernil (roast park shoulder) a few times and it's been excellent every time. Generous portions, the lunch specials are easily enough for two meals. I also tried one each chicken and cheese empanadas, fried not baked, tasty enough and actually would have been enough for lunch. Absolutely amazing!!! The churrasco (skirt steak) was incredibly tasty. The portion I was given with the combo was good enough for 2-3 people. The rice and beans were on point! Not too salty but still very flavorful. The platano maduro and salad were regular tasting just like anywhere else. But man that churrasco was cooked perfectly and exploded with flavor. Omg.. I just read some of these poor reviews for Punta Cana and they're giving me a headache. These reviewers are idiots. You need to review within context. Punta Cana is more of a fast food take out place than a sit down restaurant. It only has 2 tiny tables with 2 chairs each... and their food is made buffet (cafeteria?) style where you can see the selection already made behind the glass, and they pack it for you depending on what selection you make. Are these bad reviewers for real? It's like rating a neighborhood #1 Chinese Kitchen Take Out place, but latino style. The staff you can tell are family straight out of their country, some are shy (not rude) struggling admirably with their English, and they're just trying to make money with their authentic home cooked meals and may not be used to the customer service hustle involved with soothing the more entitled pretentious yelpers. Fort Lee is all about Asian food so when this little gem popped up, I was ecstatic. Yes, you'll find a broader selection and more carefully crafted latino food in other areas where it's a full service layout and more competition, but for a hole in a wall place in Asian Fort Lee that you can order pernil and have it with a side order of hot red beans over your rice, it's delicious (the beef stew & chicken stew are good too. tell them to put the sauce on your rice, the dark one with beans, not white rice). Fried plantains are usually good only in the summer, for those of you who don't know. I would pass on their empanadas, but try their tres leche cake! We were in Fort Lee looking for Latin food, and this one came up. My friend and I were very excited to eat there since they have Dominican meals. The place is very small, no restrooms and it seems that it was mostly for take out. I ordered a tres golpe/mangu. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I expected. The meal that my friend ordered was much better, so I was going to take the mangu to go and order the pernil with moro that she got. The waitress Brianna came and asked me if I didn't like it, and I said that sorry I didn't. She then indicated that I didn't have to keep the plate, that I didn't like that she would replace it for something I wanted. Brianna was super attentive, so I could say that the customer service is great, but I wasn't crazy about the mangu which is one of main Dominican's dishes. Also, the prices are a little bit pricey. My friend and I just ordered a drink each and two lunch combo and it came to $32, for me that's a little bit too much for the type of restaurant, but if you're looking for Hispanic food in a Korean town, you should give them a try. read more

But you should try the fried rice with shrimp and chicken in it, it's so good! We call it Chofan in spanish! I don't know how this people say that their counter service is a trash. I don't get it!! I think that she's the manager or something like that, because she is always there. Just ask for this colombian girl. My husband and I love the service that this young girl gives us. She is so polite, she's always attentive to her costumers. She is multitask.
