    Squid Ink Pasta-yum!

Location: Venice, Italy C Del Spezier 4800. 30121Venezia Ambiance: Totally casual, Dive vibe Service: Friendly, Attentive Food: simple menu, taste is great. This is a hidden gem. Pasta is perfectly cooked and sauces were on par. We loved the combination menu that included a soft drink and a cafe.

Great hole-in-the-wall/ off the beaten path of Venice! We stayed near the tourist part of Venice (St Mark) and it was easily a 25 so min walk. Dinner is a fixed menu which includes- 1) drink (can be wine, Spritz, beer, etc.), pasta / or pizza listed, and 3) coffee or tea for a reasonable 15 euros! One interesting part - the menu is handwritten! Portions-- I decided on a seafood pasta which was more than enough. As for my significant other, he has a huge appetite so he needed to get some take out pizza after dinner lol. Couple of things I did like- 1) no fuss about giving bread / charging for bread! 2) no seating fee from what I am aware It seemed to have a decent wait, too and one party I met visited more than once during their stay! Overall, it was A-OK. It is also a bar as well.

Seafood spaghetti and squid ink pasta

15€ for an entree, beverage, and coffee..not bad at all. I loved both the squid ink pasta and seafood spaghetti, although I would prefer the seafood spaghetti. The seafood on top of the spaghetti didn't make it fishy at all, and was in fact one of the best seafood flavors I've tasted! Ended my meal perfectly with a cup of espresso, which definitely kept me energized for more hours of walking.

We came on a rainy Christmas night. We were staying close by and kept passing by and thought it looked like a fun little bar/restaurant playing American rock/alternative music. It has a good vibe, like a neighborhood dive bar but nicer. The pizza is tasty and I thought the pizza + drink + caffe set for 15 euro was a reasonable deal. Cash only, but there's an ATM about three doors down.

    Delicious!

The food is delicious, the atmosphere is quaint, and the owner is so nice. Love supporting small, local businesses

bolognese, paired it with the house Chianti (from Tuscany)

Good food, excellent service, at a great price! Puppa may not have presentation or an extensive menu but it's perfect for a quick bite to eat. I got the bolognese, paired it with the house Chianti, and finished with a cappuccino. All for €15 (or would have been if I had not had a few glasses of the Chianti).

The pasta was cooked just right. The seafood was fresh. At €15 for a set meal of pasta+drink+coffee, you will be hard pressed to find a better deal in touristy Venice, for dinner. Also, friendly service and not the grumpy kind you find nearer the touristy areas.

Stumbled in here for dinner on my first night in Venice and was not disappointed. The two hosts were loooovely, very friendly and helpful and let us take our time eating and enjoying the ambience. Would've given five stars but was a little bummed they had JUST ran out of dough for the pizza. Great mea none the less

Pasticceria Bar Puppa earned one of my very rare 1 star reviews. We stop in for a late afternoon glass of wine. They have a house red wine listed on their menu board for 2.5 EUR, so I ask for one. The counter person then says, sorry we don't have that out, we need to look for it. There's a long wait, while they pull out a ladder and climb up in the above-ceiling storage. Eventually, she comes over to the table to say they don't have that wine, but they found another red, would I like that, showing me the bottle. Okay. When it comes time to pay, I learn that the price of the wine was 5 EUR, twice the price of the wine originally ordered. It's not the sort of thing I'd argue about, but would they treat a local customer (notably, none were in the place during our visit) that way and expect return business? But that's what a tourist gets, who's not likely to come back anyway. And Puppa gets 1 star.

The calamari was super good with the lemon zest on it. It was tender and not chewy at all. The cured salmon with lemon squeeze was also excellent. You go to the counter, request which sandwiches you want, order yourself a drink, and eat outside along the water. Fair warning though, beware of the seagulls. They are on the prowl and ready to steal these amazing sandwiches. In clockwise order, I got the avocado with shrimp, truffle with egg, tuna with caramelized onion, mushroom, and salmon with lemon. All of them were drastically different but #1-3 were my favorites. I got a second one of the tuna as well. My husband ordered a different combo not pictured and loved his as well. Great service, cool place. I will definitely be missing this when we return home.

It's a cozy little bar. Staff is fantastic, friendly and helpful - despite being very very busy at all times. It's popular with both locals and tourists. And for good reason. They've got a huge range of fantastic cicchetti. And nice, affordable wine, prosecco and more. There are only four tables outside and limited space to stand inside. Most visitors just hang around in front of the Bar. We've managed to get a table each visit still. We've had some of our favorites again: Gorgonzola with anchovies, some with sardines, some with bacalau. Some with prosciutto or lardo. Smoked fish or salmon All great stuff. But also this time we've discovered some new ones: With crudo di mare (raw fish/seafood), shrimp and sour onions, mushroom cream topped with mushrooms, bacon and artichokes. They've also got other snacks like fried bacalau. Really: Every single item here was delicous. They are just the best at what they're doing. And that since a long time. It never disappoints and is well worth the money. Depending on the day and time they do not always have all and/or the same cicchetti. Even more reason to come back to get some more. And we will definitely be back.

Since it was in walkable distance from where I was staying, I decided to check it out for lunch. The bar is pretty small, so I think taking it to go is usually what many people do. I got there close to when it opened so it wasn't crowded and I was able to order right away. I decided to try a few of their cichetti that had seafood on it like fish and fried squid. These are all bite-sized so I would definitely recommend getting multiple to try out the different flavors, especially with the different cheeses/creams they add. The food here was very fresh, and I liked the flavors a lot so I'm glad that I went to try it out. Overall, if you're in Venice then this is a good spot to check out!

Upon arrival, the owner was sitting at a table drinking wine. There weren't any people dining, so we were the only ones. The servers and cooks were very attentive. We were immediately greeted and seated while our drink requests were taken. We always choose still water. Today, we decided to try a wine tasting, which included a blend of whites of reds from the region. The waiter explained in detail the type of wine, where it is made, what type of grapes it is made with, and the year it was made. All of the wines were very delicious. Italy takes great pride in their wines and rightfully so. We requested bruschetta and presciutto. We were given fresh, warm bread, which we mixed with salt, pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. The bread was amazing. It had a soft, warm inside and a crunchy outside. Isn't that they way bread should be served? The bruschetta was delicious as was the presciutto. The food, wine, and service were superb. We vowed that we would return for dinner, but alas, we didn't make time to do so. This is a great restaurant!
