They took great care of my long haired cat for her first groom. My kitty is a bit of a lazy groomer and often gets litter (and other stuff ) stuck in her fur on her hind end. I opted to get her trimmed down in her hind area and a bit of a sanitary trim. "Saaaaandie!" "Saaaandie!?" Where arrrrre you?" Sandie, the 11 (going on two) year old chocolate toy poodle comes running to me from wherever she is in the house. "Wanna go for a ride?" She gets that immediately. She likes rides. While she waits by the door, I grab her "baby" -- one of the very specific toys she has gotten over the years that she has grown quite fond of. I hide her baby - Sandie is too smart for me. She knows that if she gets in the car with me and that is the ONLY toy I have, we are going to the groomer or the vet -- and that is very suboptimal to her. If I have more than one toy, it's a safe bet we're heading to go see Grandma. I hide the baby in the back. Drive a few miles, pull in the parking lot. I can see the "oh shit" in her eyes. (Yes, I do believe my cute dog is perfectly capable of a little profanity.) Cue: the shaking. Sandie gets very nervous and shaky when she knows she is getting dropped off somewhere, and I have a monumental soft spot for animals, so I do feel pretty bad. Ordinarily I would never leave her somewhere that made her nervous - but I know the owner and most of the staff at Pupperdoos and I know they treat her extremely well. Four to five hours later, Sandie emerges having had a bath, haircut, her nails cut, ears, glands...the whole package. She is super happy to see me, and, as always, I am told that she was very well behaved and is always a pleasure to have around. Absolutely never had a bad grooming, and the employees of Pupperdoos are some of the friendliest animal enthusiasts out there. Pupperdoos is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I have a Mini Goldendoodle, Lexi, and despite the time I spend brushing her, her hair can quickly get out of control and become matted. I used to take her to a different groomer who would inevitably shave her (awful) despite me saying I didn't want that.... Then I tried pupperdoos, and what a difference! Ashlynn did a fantastic job, and I got compliments even weeks after her first appointment. She got out all the mats and gave her an adorable puppy cut. Ashlynn even went above and beyond making sure to leave Lexi's long eyelashes (I love them and always would ask the previous groomer to make sure she didn't cut them, but alas, she always did). I am not sure what is better, the fact that Pupperdoos does such an outstanding job, or that it is so easy to get my dog an appointment there. Since my schedule can be so variable, I often only have a few days before I want to schedule my dog a groom, and both times I have been to Pupperdoos they have been able to accommodate me with short notice. I just picked up Lexi from her second time at Pupperdoos and I am again amazed at the results. I was very nervous when I dropped her off because I had a friend taking care of her for a few weeks while I was on vacation and when I picked her up she was not only extremely dirty, but also full of mats. Well, it looks like I picked up a new dog, and even better, Ashlynn didn't have to shave her. She got all the mats out and I couldn't be happier. Thank goodness we found Pupperdoos. I'm incredibly upset... brought my dog last Wednesday to be groomed and he came home later that night and had a herniated disc in his back which caused him to be paralyzed from the middle of his back down. He was shaking with pain and could not use his back legs at all. I called Pupperdoos and they told me he was having trouble with the foam roller they had him on to do his back legs and "he is probably just sore". I tried to pick him up to get him in the car to bring to the vet and it hurt him which caused me to get bit and I currently have a dozen stitches in my face. I rushed him to the Peiper Memorial Vet in Middletown where he had to be seen by a neurologist and have emergency surgery on his back. I called again and the lady basically said I can't prove it happened there and they were sorry. Like can you at least refund me The $180 you charged me to injure my dog so bad. I'm out almost $10k after this grooming. Please be weary when you leave your dog here. And also there are nip bottles and garbage all over their parking lot. I should have known better than to trust them with my babies ****Update the owner of this dump keeps harassing me on Facebook and by phone .... leave me alone hurting my baby and costing me 10,000 was enough damage thanks**** read more

I had both my cats groomed here. I have a short haired Tabby and a Mainecoon . I got so many compliments on my Mainecoon's lion cut and my Tabby's coat after years of neglect by the previous owner, which is now looking bright and smelling wonderful. The staff took notice that she, my Tabby Khloe needed an extra wash and did so without an extra charge. So I was very thankful for the extra attention to detail. The only gripe I had was that her ears did not look the best and am still struggling with cleaning them today. But overall, I would recommend Pupperdoos. They do their best to make sure your pet has a pleasant experience. read more

I have been bringing my dog to Pupperdoos for the 8 years that they have been open. I have been to several other groomers and there is no comparison. Tammy and the girls are very meticulous in their work and take pride in excellence. I am appalled to read the comments left by Alexandra B. Sounds to me like she may be a competitor to make such harsh claims. First of all I get my dogs nails also ground and in all the yrs. of coming here I only ever paid $15.00 so that claim is false. How could anyone make a dogs nails jagged? That's ludicrous as is the statement about leaving a dog unattended on the table to hang...dogs are never left unattended to hang themselves....PLEASE! They don't groom any animal without bathing it first that's just their policy. If Alexandra felt ripped off because she claims Pupperdoos "always" did what was best for their wallet, than why did she return for business to "always constantly be taken advantage of ? (her words verbatim) They have never brushed my dogs teeth or done anything without me "requesting" it. They give a breakdown when they discuss what you would like to have done, they don't surprise you with a bill after the fact. Being in the business for 37 yrs., I would have to say, that this is Tammy, (the owners) "dream job". She is very diligent and makes safety of her animals and staff her top priority and I know this after so many years of going there myself. The Puppersoos staff truly love what they do and are not in it to steal your money! It's sad to know that comments left like this are done maliciously to hurt another's business. Pupperdoos has worked very hard to get where they are and their hard work has rated them number "ONE" in the Connecticut Magazine award. All the awards are on their wall at Pupperdoos to prove it. I own an Afghan Hound & did all his grooming for years as has been in full coat, they have been cutting his nails for a few years as something I didn't like to do nor did he, the last few months I have had problems with my wrists & they have been grooming him did a fabulous job Today5/26/2015 I took him in to have a puppy cut done, by the owner's daughter she did an AWESOME job All the staff there is excellent at what they do as well as caring about all the dogs & kitties If anyone is looking for top shelf treatment & grooming of their dog I make Pupperdoos more than a 5 star rating read more

Our Goldendoodle puppy had a traumatic grooming experience at another groomer. He was so scared when we picked him up, he cowered when we would attempt to pet him. I was so stressed about getting him groomed again and nervous he would be further traumatized. I called to speak to the staff at Pupperdoos to see if they would be willing to work with us. The staff was so kind and reassuring. We brought our pup to Pupperdoos and they were so kind to him (and to us!). They did a wonderful job grooming him and were even able to grind his nails down so that they were smoother. Our pup was happy and confident when we picked him up - no cowering or nervous behavior.
