I brought my dog here for a bath and grooming. I understood that his hair was needing to be cut due to some matting. The building smelt like urine and it was hot. Ever since I picked my dog up from his appointment (which took 6 hours) he has been acting very strange. Night one he wasn't sleeping at all. Day two I was looking at him up close to try and figure out what was wrong and realized he had a rash near his butt and belly. It seems to be very irritated still to this day, almost a week later. The ladies in the office were kind, but I do not recommend taking your dog here. I'm not sure what happened during the 6 hours for my dog to be scared and act like this, but I hope this review will make their business change for the better. read more

Had to sadly edit. The workers there are nice enough. But today I picked up my dogs. My one female dog came home with a terrible red rash on her under carriage. She gets UTI's frequently and this rash will not help prevent that. I called to ask if they had cut her or if she bleed during shaving and they said no. But they mopped in the back room where they kept my dogs and that my dog probably just laid on the disinfectant. I asked what I should do and she said to just hose her off....so you're telling me that we paid $110 plus a 15% tip just to come home and hose my dogs off? Which we usually have the owner shave our dogs and that's usually $45/dog. Not sure why we were charged as much this time? Not sure why exactly my dog has a terrible rash. Now I'm having my dog off which is literally the reason we took them to the groomer. Not happy and will be looking for a new groomer. Now I'm anxious about this rash developing further. I gave this place a 1 star because of the staff. I have to admit that they are very sweet and friendly. Very disappointed of the work Savannah has done for my little Peanut. This is the second time around peanut has been with the place, and the first time didn't really do much because my puppy had to get used to the whole thing first. The second time I dropped off my puppy before 9:00 AM and didn't get a call from them until passed 6:00 PM. Peanut was there all day. I sent Savannah a picture of exactly how I want his hair and so disappointed of how it ended up. I will not be bringing my baby there again. P.S. I called the shop and talked to the owner about how I felt. I spoke to Pam and all she said is that it happens. It's a WOW moment. If they weren't confident enough about the haircut that I asked for, they should've just told me in the first place instead of keeping my puppy all day and just shaved him anyway they want. read more

I brought my dog here a couple days ago and showed/sent them a picture of how I wanted my dogs hair. they shaved her hair down to a 1/2". this is not what i wanted nor did I ever say I wanted that. also, my dog has been miserable the past two days because they shaved her butt down to the skin and now it is itching her really badly And is turning really red! Im very disappointed in how bad this turned out. also, after I was leaving I could see through the glass window as they were trying to bring my dog through the front entrance to where the other dogs are, one staff member was trying to keep the dogs back but not in the way you would think. She was kicking the dogs in the chest just to get them back. I should have just went back in and grabbed my dog as that was a red flag for me. I really wanted to love this place so much so, that I took my pup in several times. The first couple of visits were ok. I just thought we have to find the right groomer at the establishment, but alas we did not. I had even questioned the groomer if she had in fact bathed my dog, as his face was left dirty with visible eye mucus and his fur did not feel clean. On one of the occasions the groomer said that his eyes were stained. (Which was not accurate, as I was able to clean the mucus with a wet wash cloth from my dog's eyes when we got home). My dog's cut was also uneven and choppy so much so, that another groomer from a different establishment commented on it. They are not horrible by any means, they are ok. I will give them praise where it is deserved, and that is scheduling and friendliness. They were always able to accommodate us for an appointment and were vey polite. read more

The owner cuts the dogs nails way to close until they bleed. I used to be able to clip all my dogs' nails until I took them there for grooming. Big Mistake Dogs don't forget. One of her employees actually told me this too as my dogs would start to shake like crazy when we pulled into their parking lot. I used to be a full-time client there for a couple years with 4 dogs but stopped due to low quality service and they also have their favorites, and you can stand there waiting too long even with an appointment. Besides that, it became too dirty there with urine accidents that were not being mopped up quick enough. High risk of infections for the dogs with filthy floors. The owner also loves the F word. Hate that attitude and low-quality nail cutting causing nails to bleed too often upon picking them up. I would have to put septic powder on them when we got home. This was happening too often for my liking and terrible experience for my dogs. It was hard getting my dogs to trust a groomer again but it's getting better with the professionalism from a caring groomer. There are many good quality salons out there to choose from now with good caring attitudes towards you and your pets if you are not satisfied with this groomer. read more

I first contacted Leann when my Australian Shepherd had an incident with summertime burrs. She was extremely understanding of my circumstances and got him in within a few hours. This was his first time at a groomers and she took all day to complete the job because she only clipped him until he needed a break, then gave him a break for a while prior to resuming. That was three years ago, and we take him in every year now for his annual haircut. She keeps him most of the day and does a wonderful job. It's not his favorite place to go simply due to his nature, but when I return to get him he is happily socializing with the other dogs. I've only seen smaller dogs and cats crated at Puppy Love, and the crates are right up front in full view of the large front windows and counter. There are at least two rooms for the relaxation of the dogs while they wait. Leann and Co. are wonderful and do a great job. Puppy Love is just a wonderful place to have your dog groomed. The owner Pam is such a sweetheart, is a true animal lover to the max and will take awesome care of your pet. I have been coming here since just as she bought this shop. Previously I was taking my dog to another place in Anderson and when I moved to Redding, I decided to find a groomer closer to our new home. I wasn't that happy with my previous groomer as my dog got a few rashes from not rinsing out the products she used, didn't have her gland cleaned every time, and so on. This is never the case at Puppy Love. They do an awesome job in grooming and caring for your pet as if they were their own. There is a wonderful atmosphere where the pets can all play together if they choose but if they want alone time, there are areas where they can be partitioned off and can just relax. Pam at Puppy Love is the ONLY groomer that I have heard of in town where if your dog is a customer of hers, Pam will give your dog FREE nail trims between appointments to keep the nails short and the nail quicks under control. Who does that??? Only someone who has your pet's best interest at heart, that's who. I just can't say enough about what a wonderful and caring pet grooming facility that this is. I have a long-haired dog and am not as diligent about grooming as I should be--they are magic with the brushes. Yesterday (a week before Christmas) I took 2 bedraggled dogs straight from their outdoor boarding facility to Puppy Love. Would not recommend taking your dog here. The place is dirty, disorganized and the younger lady at the front counter is extremely rude. Twice we took our Goldendoodle here and we will never bring him back. The first time they shaved him without our consent and he looked hideous. The second time they wanted to shave him down again, this time they called at least but not after a few obscenities, dropping the f-bomb saying brushing out his fur is not do-able. I'm sorry I thought this was a dog grooming establishment!?! I said that's fine. We will work on any areas you can't brush out at home on our own, but please don't shave him. The lady just wanted to be lazy and not do her job. We were fine if it cost a little more if he took longer and was more work. But it just seemed like they wanted to be lazy and shave him again. I was appalled by the lack of professionalism. When we picked up Duke we paid our $100 and asked for a receipt. The lady said she was wouldn't give us a receipt and freaked out again. I have a newfoundland/golden mix (tons of fur!) and they always clean her up so well, get her furry, furry feet and in the summer are able to give her a beautiful cut to keep her cute and cool!
