This review reflects my personal experience and opinions at this establishment. The main issue for me was the attitude from start to finish on the day of our appointment. The interactions felt unfriendly and the environment did not feel welcoming to us. Having a bad day is one thing, but I left feeling disappointed with the overall experience. Our dog's cut also looked rough and choppy to me. My dog is now sick for the first time and developed a cough less than a week after the appointment. I can't say what caused it or where he may have picked it up, but the timing was concerning to me as a pet owner. Shyla is my first choice every time. She has a calm presence and is I have had the best experience with her handling my large Goldendoodle (who despises grooming). I've heard a groomer cuss out my dog when she didn't see I had slipped in and was sitting behind the divider. Another groomer seemed to listen to instructions I provided but it was clear when I picked up she hadn't truly been attentive. Giving the same groomer a second chance, I wrote down a couple directives, still. Shyla asks clarifying questions to make certain she understands what I want. The haircuts are standard nothing special. If you value good customer service, don't go here. If you just want a standard haircut for your pet with poor service then this is the place for you. Got appointment right away, and my German shepherd always looks fabulous! Always my first grooming choice

Very poor customer service by the owner. I am in my 40s and have been treated poorly in the past bust this takes the cake. The owner has a chip on her block and treated me as if I asked a stupid question. I asked another question for further clarification and was told I told you this already and repeated the same info. I wasted my time and money. They messed my dog's hair up. For some reason my dog shacking when we left. Not sure why. Never seen her shake at all after a groom. This is very upsetting. Moved to Redding Ca from San Diego Ca, Our dogs go to the groomer "Monthly" in San Diego. We were looking for Dog Groomer, our daughter told us about this place. From shags to riches! This place is a definite go to, especially if you got a goldendoodle! Our sweet 9.5 month, 60lb big lady of a pup was in desperate need of a hair cut. We've been to a few other places in town but were never satisfied. As an owner of a goldendoodle, the one thing you don't want is your dog coming out looking like a standard poodle. And finding that knowledge and experience to know the difference is tough. Our goldendoodle's hair was over 6 inches long. Not even exaggerating because a ruler was involved. We called Groovy Grooming and what I believe to be the female owner, was very friendly. When we arrived, our pup was extremely happy. She immediately jumped on her and felt the good vibes. It was clean and there was an open area for the pups to play. I'm not crazy about kenneling my pup and so even though the option is there, she lets them roam! :) She asked us what cut we wanted and we told her and showed her a few photos of what we wanted and didn't want. $65 later, she came out perfect! I am so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful a job she did. I can't imagine it being easy to trim (we cut about 5 inches off) a 60lb caboose but this place nails it! Thank you for a great experience, getting all of Piper's matted hair out, and for making smell so good and look so great. A definite great way to ring in the New Year! read more

Owner said they were familiar with Shelties, but my pup came back looking horrendous. As seen in the photos, the cuts were horrible. It was extremely choppy and uneven all around. It looked like they took a buzzer to her whole body, which is not ok with this breed. Our pup also came back with fleas, which the establishment has admitted to having dogs with fleas in their vicinity. I am not keen to leaving bad reviews as I know how much it affects a small business, but this one had to be left. It was a bad experience all around for us. read more

When we dropped Roxy off she was ready for her - also much better than other groomers who seem to run behind often. I had been taking my dog to the vet for grooming. But then they changed groomers, and this one didn't have any grooming experience. I got Alex, my Sheltie, back with what felt like glue all over his skin. I couldn't get it off either by hosing him off, or combing him. Happily, my neighbors knew about Shila and Groovy Grooming, and I called her. What a blessing! Shila knew just what to do, and Alex was looking fantastic again. The best part is that Shila and her team are so wonderful with dogs and cats that Alex loves to go there! It's so different to have him lead the way with eagerness to see Shila. A few months ago, some pet jerky he ate caused a skin problem. (Shelties often have skin sensitivities, and he is nearly 12.) The vet gave me a special shampoo to use, but I don't have the ability to bathe and rinse him well. So, I called Shila. She was willing to do the "wash/wait 5 minutes/rinse" that the shampoo needed. What a wonderful woman! I took him once a week for a month, and Alex's skin was cleared up again. Thank you, Shila! She always has a positive attitude, and her fees are very reasonable. (She asks for cash or check only to avoid raising fees to cover the charge that credit card companies would charge her. Great plan!) She is fantastic with animals. First lady was very nice personable. Quoted price for shampoo and cut and I made appointment for the weekend. When I arrived the person working said I wasn't on the schedule but she could fit me in but didn't appear or sound happy about it. When I returned my dog was crying and his haircut was terrible. She handed me my pet and I attempted to give her my credit card. She snatched my pet back and said cash only. My dog was crying. I left to get cash and when I returned the price was $15.00 more than what I was quoted. At this point I was so upset I just paid and left. My dog was actually crying. I have a small shih tzu and he certainly needed 'the works'. Groovy Grooming did a fabulous job. My little guy hates water and isnt all that fond of being brushed. He also has this horrible habit of crying whenever he realizes I'm not in the room with him. It's a noise that sounds a lot like someone is being killed in the most painful possible manner. It's a very scary sound! I'm sure it was not a pleasant experience for the groomer, or for anyone else who happened to visit that shopping center that day. I took my two small dogs for a full groom (bath/haircut) and one big dog for a bath/nail trim. Shyla was great and cut the small ones just like I asked. All of them seemed happy to be there when I came back to pick them up. I will definitely come back the next time my girls need a cut. read more

Took my Labra-collie in for a full body shave & bath since it's so hot here & she was shedding like crazy. They took her quickly & had her done in several hours. She was allowed to roam free in the back area with other dogs & seemed fine when we got her. She hates going to the vet so I was worried about her going into the place, but she was fine. I've taken my cat here twice now to get a much needed cut. The second time, he broke out of the carrier and was able to climb under a seat and get stuck! The owner was such a huge help! I have been a loyal customer at Groovy Grooming for a few years now and I never had a problem until the past year. First it started with minor things like cutting my Yorkshire Terrier's hair too short or uneven. This summer we took him there and got him back infested with fleas... On his last visit there they did bathe him with flea shampoo but it didn't help. I showed up to drop my dog off 15 minutes early for his appointment. They were still closed and no one was in the shop. I waited in the parking lot and no one showed up until about 5 minutes after the appointment time. Two women showed up and opened the shop. One apparently didn't even work there as she stayed in the front of the store. I dropped off the dog and left to my car. I sat there and made a quick call to my mother. In the middle of said call they both left the store unlocked and went clear across the parking lot for 10 minutes leaving my purebred in an unattended store. When they came back they had a huge dog with them. Needless to say I will not be going back. read more

Very nervous about taking my dog in to get her nails trimmed because she is very sensitive to other dogs. When I went in I told the woman working that and hoped I could watch from the window while my Jupiter got her nails trimmed. The woman working( I wish I knew her name) actually came into the lobby and sat with Jupiter on the floor and trimmed her nails right there, so I could sit with my dog too. I thought that was wonderful customer service! It made Jupiter and I very happy. It is also good to see that the woman working actually likes dogs. Both Jupiter and I could feel that.
