Me and my babies are new to PLF mainly because others didn't like the way they looked -- breed discrimination. How I found PLF I don't know but the pack and Sona are a God-send. Although a good 45-60 min drive for me, their well being is worth it. So far, Sona has done a home visit, both dogs have been there for their assessments, and have stayed for multiple nights. Puppy Luv farms is the only place I will take my dogs. I've tried other places and when they come home they don't eat for days and won't leave my side. I just picked them up today after a 7 day visit at Puppy Luv. They came home happy, clean and tired from all the activities. What I love is that Sonia takes time to learn and understand my dogs personalities. The dogs are not confined to cages and crates. They have access to the living area and are treated like a part of the family. The interaction with the other dogs and the mile walks my small dogs get each day keeps them engaged and happy. Several years ago we boarded our dog here. When I got back, I saw the details of our bill which included the charge for batteries. I called her and asked her about the charge and she said that our dog barks at cats so she had to use the shock collar. Wow. And she claims to implement Casar Milan methods. I do not ever remember Cesar using shock collars ever. This was a huge mistake. Our dog came back with red marks on his neck. read more

Check out other boarding places before you agree to use this place. Compare before you decide. Don't take the quick sales pitch. Take a tour inside and out. Listen to what they tell you, see what they promote. Read her postings of training aids she says that are fine for dogs. You will find that professional trainers will tell you that they are not. She uses her LPN training to boost her abilities as a dog caretaker, when it is not related. See how many professional trainers approve of using squirt bottles, sticks, shaker cans for handling dog training. When I complained she said the contract was not with me, yet she insisted I sign the membership agreement with my son. He was the one doing most of the dropping off and picking up, I was the one paying for the stays. She said I had a limited budget, when I complained. I didn't have a limited budget. I walked away allowing her to keep my membership that I had just recently paid and 100 dollar deposit because I did not feel safe or comfortable using this place any more. I found other places much more open in showing you the whole place. She only showed my son part of her place. She is all about promoting training programs, dog treats, and gimmicks that have nothing to do with what your dog may need. I wished the review of 9/14/13 had been written at the end of July. Yes, we are much happier at our new place. We actually found several that were more open and impressive than this place. read more

Well, I got dogs back in one piece so that's a plus. Sonya was recommended to me because she, "loved dogs and treated them like family." and unfortunately that was not the case. She provides you with a long contract at the beginning that I combed through and still had issues at the end. I picked up my dogs and their luggage and found left over food (I had packed individual baggies with exactly the amount for an AM and PM meal that were clearly labeled). I found exactly 7 bags of extra meals, unused bedding that I had provided specifically for the dogs, as well as unused treats that I had given instructions that were to be given to them when they were crated at night. Also their bag of occupational toys (I gave instructions that they were to be placed in their crates at night) was left untouched. When I confronted Sonya about the issue, she raised her voice and used curse words. She was unapologetic and actually had the audacity to hang up on me. She even pointed out that one of my dogs had gained 5lbs in a week, my dog is a tri-pawed (she only has 3 legs) and I have to watch her weight carefully to keep the stress on her joints as low as possible. She gained 5lbs in a 6 days because Sonya filled them full of her bakery treats (11.99 for 14 treats per dog...total of $23.98 for the 6 days) instead of feeding them the food and lower calorie treats that I provided. She is incredibly unprofessional and cares more about lining her pockets than with taking care of your dog like her own (the way she advertises). When signing the dogs up she assured me that all of their needs would be met and my instructions would be followed. When they weren't followed, I was given ridiculous excuses as to why they weren't followed that didn't even add up: (we only feed in the Evening so we gave them both bags for the day then (bags wouldn't be left over), we don't give food with pre-mixed medication, (7 bags of food with pre-mixed medication were missing/had been consumed and 7 were left untouched. I provided her with the bottle of the medication and informed her staff of the feeding system at drop off without being notified that the medication couldn't be mixed in). We don't use bedding from home bc we don't want to send fleas/ticks home with you (all dogs are required to be UTD on flea/tick and heartworm meds). Had I known any of these things, I would have boarded them somewhere else. The only pluses ate that they got socialization (via her cageless system) and that she texted me every day about their day (although the texts said pretty much the exact same thing every day). I'm am throughly disappointed in my experience with this "company" and will not be using their services again and I would not recommend them to anyone, period! read more

Let's begin with the qualities of PLF: 1- She treats the dogs well and will not cage them. She will cage them at night time. 2-The prices are very reasonable comparing to other facilities. Now let's explore the issues: 1- The first thing you will discover about PLF or Sona Pyle is that she is a one man operation business. She will ramble about "all her" employees that consists of a house cleaner, some teenagers that come collect the dogs droppings from the yard, and a yard person to mow the grass. She will try convincing you that she has "dog walkers" that walk every dog boarded for 2 miles per day. You will never see these "dog walkers". The prices are reasonable because she runs her business out of her own house and "all her employees" are just regular services any other household would hire. Now that we understand why her prices are low, let's understand her concept: 2- Sona Pyle is a "Cesar Milan" (The Dog Whisperer show host) aficionado. That is, she watches the show and reads a few books about dogs and now entitles herself a dog behaviorist and a CEO of one person business that is ran out of her living room. I don't initially see anything wrong in trying to get a business as a Dog Behaviorist. The problem is when you want to hire a pet sitter for your dog and end up with a delusional self-titled pet behavior expert. Long story short, you are looking for place to board your dog while you are traveling or unavailable to attend to your pet and are happy to know there is a place where your pet won't be caged all day long and it is quite affordable... You board your dog at PLF; get text updates on how your dog is doing on a daily basis; Just to find out that the SIMPLE service of watching and feeding your dog while you are away became an excursion of how 'unbalanced' your dog is, how you should treat and do things to have a better behaved dog, and how these dogs have an "amazing time" while at PLF... PLF consists of a grassy back yard and a living room for the dogs. Be prepared to be charged for 'snacks', holiday fees, bandanas and other handmade craft stuff. In the end, you better off just paying a real professional. read more
