Pupusas To Go - Two pupusas make a good portion. The maracuja (passion fruit) drink is excellent.

The building, located on "I" Road (Veterans Blvd), in between Eldora Rd and Sioux Rd in Pharr is not large, but hard to miss with the bright yellow color. There is private parking in front. Once inside you find a clean, pristine dining room in the colors of the Salvadoran flag, white and blue. You can order at the counter if ordering take out, or sit at a table for dine in and the lady will take your order there. Their menu offers more than pupusas. They also have tamales, empanadas, plantains, breakfasts with eggs, and more. But I wanted to try their pupusas, and two were big enough to make a meal for me. If you are really hungry you may be able to eat three. The pupusas came hot to order (you choose the filling you want), and were delicious. They are freshly made from scratch, so it may take a few minutes, but is worth the wait. The pupusas come with a side bowl of "curtido" (slightly pickled cabbage slaw) which you put on top. They also brought out a very mild tomato salsa and some green hot salsa. I loved all of it. The prices are very reasonable. The staff was very friendly, courteous and efficient. This restaurant is family friendly. There was a TV playing a telenovela, but not too loud. Because seating is limited, I would not recommend dining in for large groups, but their take out would certainly be a unique and delicious option for large groups. I would like to return to try some other fillings and entrees. I enjoyed it and think you will too!

I'm a huge migas fan and never thought to try chilaquiles. This place did not disappoint. I added eggs, chorizo and avocado with half green and half red sauce. I was surprised to get each adding in an individual stack. I managed to get my egg yolk over the avocado and chorizo. The food was really good, just not what I expected. The flautas de papa were a great buy. Instead of using a corn or flour tortilla to mop up my plate, I was able to use the flauta and with the papa in it, they were like little sponges soaking up all the leftovers

My favorite is the Tacos Llorarás (you will cry taco) which features a handmade corn tortillas stuffed with a chile relleno made of jalapeño and cream cheese, plus a flavorful beef birria. Add your garnish and salsa of choice, and if the heat of the chile doesn't make you cry, you will eventually cry if you cannot return soon. It's that good! Drinks are either Jamaica (aguas frescas style). This location is right across the road from the Sam's Club on South Jackson Road. There is additional parking in the back. Family friendly.

This one is in a small shopping center next to Sam's Club on the NW corner of 10th and Trenton. The facilities are still relatively new, everything looks clean. They have a nice dining room but also offer take-out. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, closing at 3:30 PM. Their menu has a good variety of breakfasts, from chilaquiles, omelets, classics like huevos rancheros, huevos divorciados, huevos a la mexicana, norteño breakfast of machacado (dried beef) and eggs, molletes, pancakes, and more. Their lunch offerings include a variety of salvadoran pupusas, caldo Tlalpeño, the jaliciense carne en su jugo; skillets of chicharrón pensado en salsa, frijoles con "veneno" (chorizo), melted cheese; various tacos from flautas, tacos and la plancha, tacos Llorarás (jalapeño relleno and birria), gorditas, enchiladas, and more. They also have a children's menu. They often have promotional specialty items like tortas de chilaquiles or tortas ahogadas which I have yet to try because I keep ordering the incredible tacos Llorarás. The service has always been exceptional whenever I have gone. Their staff is friendly and efficient. Place your order at the counter and pay up front (there is a jar for tips), and they bring your food to your table. Their drinks range from bottled soda (no soda fountain) to aguas frescas: Jamaica or a refreshing limonada with cucumber. The dining room has half booths (padded bench along one wall, chairs on the other side of the table, or standard tables and chairs. This makes it easy to accommodate wheelchairs if needed. Prices are a bit higher than a burger fast food place, but less than a chain sit-down restaurant. For the food quality you get it's a great price. They have plenty of parking, and restrooms (his and hers) are clean and well maintained. My only complaint is I wish they could extend their hours and offer dinner as well!
