I've been coming here for years because the food is consistently great. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was extremely disappointing due to the customer service. When I arrived to pick up my order, the greeter, **Sarai**, was unfriendly, rude, and not welcoming at all. She asked for payment but wouldn't even move to receive it. When I asked for my food, she simply gestured with her eyes toward where I had to go instead of assisting me. I asked to speak with the person in charge and was denied. When another employee was willing to help me, Sarai told her not to assist me. I have never been treated in such a dismissive and disrespectful manner. I don't want to believe that this was racially motivated, but the way I was treated was unacceptable and deeply upsetting. It's unfortunate because the food has always been excellent, but service like this makes it difficult to return. read more

Staff isn't nice or welcoming but I guess they took my order well & charged me without error. Bring CASH so you DON'T have to pay credit card processing fees. (Establishments really shouldn't pass this along to customers, not where they should be profiting ) They thoroughly explained this to customer paying before me. $5 charge! Food was good. Fresh food, good service, the atmosphere was not what I expected. I wish it was more welcoming.

I was looking for a place nearby to have an early lunch. This place was open had had hood reviews so I decided to go in. Upon entering you can see the whole restaurant. The hostes/waitress allows you to choose your place to sit and brings the menus. She brought out drinks. Which was an horchata and a water. The horchata tasted too sugary for me but was decent. The waitress brought a plate of chips with some salsa and bean dip. The salsa dip was also a bit sweet to me (I normally prefer spicy dip) and the bean dip was good. My party ordered a few revueltas pupusas and a breakfast plate and all the food was delicious. Overall i give this place a 4.5/5 read more

First place I've tried pupusa at. Food: I used to always see this restaurant on Walnut, but I never gave then a try until they moved to this current location. They first bring out a basket of chips with a side of beans and salsa. I am in absolute love with their chips, it reminds me of the chips from elementary school on good ol nacho days. I switch between the spinach & cheese and pork & cheese pupusa. There's always a heavy amount of cheese, but I pick it out if I gets overwhelming. I'm also 50/50 on their horchata because it doesn't exactly taste like that refreshing authentic aguas frescas I could get from a local market and it has a thick powdery taste towards the bottom (mix up your drink before each sip). Service: Never a complaint. The ladies and cashiers are always the sweetest. Environment: Total hole in the wall. It has a family own vibe to it. read more

Located in a corner shopping strip, off a main road, this place is a bit hard to spot. However, if you pay them a visit, you won't be disappointed. They have an extensive Salvadorian menu to include their famous pupusas. At $2 each, you can not go wrong. Their selections are cheese, pork, cheese with beans and one with veggies. They come quite filled with the item of choice and they provide the cabbage topping and salsa at no extra charge. The rest of the menu are lunch and dinner items but didn't really venture into those just yet. read more

Although I have not been here in a while, this place has the best pupusas that I have had in the DFW area. The reveulta is my favorite, and the loroco con queso is a close second. The way that they cook the masa and incorporate the filling leaves you with a very thin, crispy, soft outside with a deliciously melted inside that has the most perfect cheese crust just using outside that you just want to pick off and eat by itself. Anyway, we just had chicharrn pupusa and they were steamy hot and delicious! The curtido (pickled cabbage and vegetable) was nice and crunchy, but the hot sauce really--wasn't. This is a small, hole-in-the-wall-esque, authentic as heck El Salvadorian place. And it's fantastic. It's a family-owned place, manned by said family, and they make extremely delicious food, far and beyond just their pupusas. The pupusas are good, large, filling, varied and cheap. I also recommend the Yucca with Pork -- fried yucca root (it's kind of like large fries) and cubes of pork. But the star of the show is not what they advertise in their neon sign -- "Pupusas to go" -- but something else entirely. On the recommendation of the son's owner, we tried their chicken tamales. Get them. Go there, right now, and order some. You won't have to wait, because they're steaming all day, ready to go. They're unbelievably tender. I've lived in Texas all of my life and have never had a tamale like this one. They're $1.50 each, which is a steal. I'm actually considering buying a ton of them to freeze and give as Christmas presents, that's how good they are. No mealy masa here, no sir. They serve breakfast as I recall, but I haven't yet tried it. The restaurant itself has a few tables to eat in, and some seats to wait for your to go order. There has always been someone who speaks english when I've gone (and he's cute, too) -- and when I called to make a to-go order but hit a language barrier with his father, he called me back when he found out what happened. Walk down the strip if you're waiting on a to-go order, and pick up some Mexican Coca Cola at the liquor store in the same shopping center, and you've got a feast. read more

This has to be some of the worst food I've have had in garland. I am genuinely disappointed. I ordered the plantains, and you could tell they were old and rotten because they were very mushy and very sweet in flavor. The beans were watered down, and the meat Was very salty. Nothing was fresh; the rice had been reheated because it too was clumped and mushy. I ordered steak and onions, and the meat was very tough. Just a horrible experience. Great value. The "Plato Tipico" comes with a pupusa, 2 tamales, yucca, a fried plantain, refried beans, and crema. It reminds me of going for Salvadoran with family and friends, but you don't have to order a bunch of plates. I couldn't finish the platter, but splurged anyway on an empanada - which was also delicious. My only complaint - no cola champagne. The location looks like it was a different restaurant before, as the booth seats are worn (and it seems this location is new for this restaurant), but that means there's plenty of room even for very large parties. If the booths are scary, don't worry, the tables and chairs are new. It's in the shopping center with the Aldi and Whataburger, 2 doors down from the Dollar General, next to "Smile Magic", but it's a little hard to see from the street. read more

What a nice restaurant! Of course is super simple and low profile but it worths a visit! The food is great and very cheap! I love the fried yucca and chicharrones and of course the pupusas. Everything is yummy! Service was great- we were in 40 people ordering at the same time. The fried tamales de Elote partido are soooooo Good. The pupusas will be the best you'll ever try in the entire metroplex. All their Aguas Frescas are simply amazing. The sopa de Gallina is a must if you want Sopa. You cant go wrong at this restaurant. Please do yourself a favor and try this place, the staff is bilingual. You wont feel left out. The Pupusas are spot on. I've had my share from different locations and these are right up there with the best of them. I like this location because we need variety in South Garland. There's way too many Mexican restaurants in my opinion. The restaurant is clean and you can expect the food will be made just right so don't be in a hurry. I cannot vouch for their entire menu since I'm really a fan of the pupusas. The yucca is perfectly fried. They do have some items I may try in the future but for now hit the those tasty cakes and tell me what you think. read more

Tried Pupusas today for the first time and I loved them! Had the one with pork and one with pork and cheese. The cabbage and the sauce are provided at no extra cost and you get chips and salsa and bean dip which was delicious. It was a really good lunch! I really wanted to like this place, and I generally don't "one star" a place off of just one visit, but this experience really didn't leave much room for me to swallow another trip there. I ordered the "Plato Tipico" - 1 pupusa, 1 chicken tamale, 1 elote tamale, yucca, plantain, beans, and creama - and a horchata to go. Should have just avoided the whole deal when I was told they were out of the chicken tamale, would I like to substitute for another pupusa. Sure, throw in another pork and cheese. And then I waited... and waited... and waited. I finally approached the counter when my wait hit 45 minutes and asked for a refund. Suddenly, the girl at the counter (Paola) didn't understand what I was asking for and continued to say "its coming... its coming," and walked off, trying to avoid eye contact with the other patrons, and I waited another ten minutes. Not sure what was going on between the kitchen, management, and wait staff but you could cut the tension with a knife. Finally get my order home, and my pupusas are soggy, the elote tamale was dry, there were chicarrones (pork) in the box (did I order that?), no pickled-cabbage slaw, beans looked like they were made from a powder mix, plantain was burned, and the yucca hard as a rock. My guess... my order had just been sitting there. It was so gross, I tossed all of it. I'm so very disappointed, and really not sure that I will ever go back. Perhaps it was just an off night for them, but the poor service and terrible food has put me off them for a long time. Shame.
