One of the most authentic Salvadoran places I've been to. I ordered a caldo de pollo to go with pollo frito instead of it cooked in the soup. The portion was huge and came with tortillas!! So good!! Came in here craving some Pupusas and i came out very dissapointed with these pupusas as a salvadoreño this is embarassing to the culture , the chicharon i question if its chicharon i think there made out of something else almost chicken flavor filling and it was very chunky that is not good! the establishment has a weird smell to it when walking in i will not go back the sauces are not good and the curtido is not good! cabbage is super chunky , Customer service was ok i had food to takeout over it was good on that. if you guys want better Pupusas i recommend you to go to Mama Vickys in Plano instead. thank me later! read more

We went on a Saturday night and were the only non-Hispanic people in the restaurant, which is fine. The service was friendly and our waitress spoke English just fine. We started with tamales--chicken for me, corn with crema for the wife--and they were excellent. I could eat those all day. The wife and I each got the "special" which is nay two papusas, rice, beans, and small salad, all for $5.50. It's a deal. I got one cheese and one chicken. I ate the cheese papusa, it was really stringy and gooey, but I was too full to eat the chicken. Rice was good. Black beans tasted funny so I only had one bite. I would return for the papusas for sure. Overall, if you are on the hunt for excellent Salvadoran food with extremely modest prices, this is the place. Excellent pupusas & curtido (cabbage salad). Honestly, prob the best I've ever had. We tried chicken & cheese, bean & cheese, & pork & cheese. They are about $2 each and comes with the cabbage salad, red & green salsas. We called our order in and it was ready for us in 20 minutes. Walking in you can literally hear the ladies in the kitchen hand making the papusas, patting out the masa in their hands and throwing them on the griddle. Delicious pupusas! 4 pupusas with the salad, rice and beans was more than enough food for two people. We couldn't decide which of the 4 flavors we ordered was the best - they were all great! If you're a papusa fan in the DFW area, I highly recommend this place! We came in on a whim on Sunday around two-ish. Walking in, you see what looks like about three Abuelas cooking in the back, and yes ONLY three women. We literally saw no men or outside cooks in the building, which we appreciated. The place was packed, however we were attended to quickly and the service didn't waiver once we were seated. Food: I always go to a Salvadoran restaurant for papusas, soo I decided to go all in and get the loroco and cheese papusa I so desperately had been wanting to try, but could never build up to it and let me tell you, I did not disappoint. I will say the spinach and cheese and bean and cheese papusas are my personal favorites. I also tried the elote tamal which isn't shown, but it was also pretty good with the crema, however it was a tad dry for my taste. The plaintains had just the right amount of caramelization and were fresh- definitely didn't feel like I was eating re-heated plantains made an hour ago. Needless to say we returned about four days later for some takeout and this is our new Papusa spot. read more

I have only had a better pupusa from a lady who used to sell them out of her apartment in Irving! This place brings my love for pupusas back... After trying pupusas at a ton of different places I thought I was over these great tasting discs of goodness. But then I decided to stop by on my my way home from work... Walked in just past 7 on a weekday and this place was empty. But it didn't take long to start filling up. So we ordered 2 of all the pupusas on the menu and 1 of each of the tacos as well. The tacos were tasty, with the lengua (tongue) being the tastiest. But the pupusas were freaking great! They are not labeled so you will have dig in and start eating. I have to retract my last review of 5 stars and give this place 2 stars. Which is really unfortunate because I had recently left a great review and the food has always been delicious here, but it isn't worth eating here at the expense of getting food poisoning. Anyone who eats here can tell it isn't the cleanest establishment. Especially if you use the restrooms. Yet, for the price and the taste of food I looked passed it. My husband, and I have ate here about a total of eight times. So we decided to introduce this place to some family of ours about two weeks ago. It was a matter of 3hrs after eating that all 7 of us family members got really sick. It was awful and it literally took two full days for all of us to recover from the food poisoning. You can say I learned my lesson and will never look passed the cleanliness of an establishment ever again. The service isnt very good either. Be careful eating here, the food is actually pretty good but my wife and daughter witnessed some of the staff pouring back the left over horchata from the tables back in to the jug with the new horchata. What a great find! This place is not much to look at, but it is very authentic. They definitely serve up the best pupusas I've ever had. The menu is bilingual, but it definitely doesn't hurt to know Spanish. For those of you who aren't familiar with pupusas, they are basically thick corn tortiallas stuffed with a type of meat and cheese, and sometimes beans. After studying the menu, I decided on one pork and one chicken. After a short wait, a plate of pupusas with a cabbage slaw and salsa was brought to my table. As soon as you look at them, and get a little bit of the smell, you know you're in for something good. Everything on the plate is made from scratch, and the pupusas had just the right amount of char on them. I tried to eat them slow so I could enjoy them, but I'm pretty sure I devoured my plate in 5 minutes. Each bite consists of seasoned meat, gooey cheese, and good corn flavor from the dough. If you love corn tortillas, then you'll love pupusas. Oh, and did I mention that this place is cheap. No pupusa will run you more than $2 each, and 2, maybe 3 is all you need.
