The time frame to get your food is about twenty minutes, but it's definitely worth your time. They have Spanish Christian music playing in the background. I heard songs here I've never heard of but was delighted to hear. In the front of the store, they sell some cool swag if you're from El Salvador. They sell embroidered aprons, shirts, Jersey shirts, embroidered bags, and so much more. They also sell medicine from El Salvador. I tried the pupusas fajita, bean and cheese, and chicken and cheese. They were all delicious. My son had the Pollo a la plancha plate (Grilled Chicken plate). It had beans, rice, salad, and grilled chicken. It's was so fulfilling, healthy, and delicious. The tortillas were homemade and fluffy. Major cons were that the wait is long. The place itself truly is a hole in the wall, but honestly, a few things could really clean it up a little to make it feel more sanitary. Minor cons: would have been better with more meat and less cheese. The squash pupusa was pretty skimpy on the squash. Overall, this place is a little outside the city. We have been eating here at least once a month for the past 4 or 5 years... The only better place to eat popusas is at my buddy Orlando moms house! She sells them out of her house on weekends but not every weekend.. So we settle for Emanuel's popusas.. Also make sure to try the sweet bread they sell. Most hole in the wall places have great food. In this case, presentation is important (cleanliness and such). This was my first visit and my first impression of this place was not good. The tables needed cleaning and were in much need of being wiped down, as well as the seats, and floor. I also didn't notice any restrooms. I have been coming here for years and am embarrassed that it's the first time I have written a review for this place. This restaurant is owned and operated by a very nice, religious family, that I have known for years before I knew this restaurant existed, that has roots in El Salvador. The exterior of the restaurant looks like an old hamburger shack but the seating area is pretty cozy once inside. I have had many pupusas from very many places in my life and these have stood as the best of all places I have ever tried. I recommend ordering two pupusas "revueltas" and some of their daily-made horchata. Mind you the horchata is different than Mexican horchata (different grain base) but is still just as good. Food is served in plastic trays with paper liners and the fixings come from communal tupperware containers. You can sit outside or in the semi-enclosed side porch. I had read the reviews to call in an order but when i tried the lady just kept saying hello, so i drove down and stood about 5 mins before being acknowledged i wanted to place an order. I ordered 7 chicken and cheese pupusas and waited about 15 mins for them. The window where you order is full of flies and they land on the pastries sitting in the window, which thankfully are covered in saran wrap. The ladies dont wear gloves to cook, my friend told me these were amazing so i was trying to overlook what normally bothers me. So i come home with my pupusas and theyre mediocre at best. The dough lacks salt and i really dont taste any chicken. The "hot sauce" tastes like canned tomato sauce. Very disappointed i wont be going back. read more
