    6 pupusas!

Came here for lunch as we finish up Shenandoah and head to C'ville. Charming little place with delicious pupusas! We tried the revuleta (cheese, beans. Pork), the pork zucchini and cheese, and the loroco (flower bud native to Central America) in both corn and rice. So yummy! And so cheap! Plus the lady waiting was so nice. Highly recommend!

Took my partner here for his 30th birthday! We had a fantastic time. We were able to seat ourselves wherever we wanted and ordered up front. I got the shrimp ceviche and he got Yaya's burrito. We both really liked the burrito. We got a side of delicious fresh guacamole and this elevated the burrito. I highly recommend ordering the two together. While I liked my ceviche, I wish the shrimp was marinated a little longer in the lime or that there was more flavor. The chips that came with it were very yummy. It's a casual spot that's great for a quick bite. Our waitress was sweet and she had overheard that it was my partner's birthday, she had suggested a few desserts. We decided to go with the xangos (fried cheesecake). They put a very lovely Happy Birthday sign on top that made our experience more special. This was beyond yummy and I'd come back for the dessert alone. Pupuseria Los Robles is a great spot to stop at on a Shenandoah trip.

Wonderful family making excellent food! Order at the counter but nice clean sit down areas inside and dog friendly patio outside. Food made to order. Order the queso to eat while your waiting for your food. It has a nice little kick to it.

We drove in from out of town and came very hungry. We found this spot on Yelp and it was one of a couple places open on a Sunday night. This was a treat! When we walked in we chatted with the gentleman up at the counter. He was very sweet and patient with us as we looked at the menu. We decided on what we wanted to order and sat down. The food was so good. The platanos tasted soooo good. Almost like a funnel cake. I don't know why that's what came to mind but it was good nonetheless. The tacos were bangin, too. Perfectly seasoned. I couldn't finish everything bc I got full so that was sad. But I had great leftovers. Highly recommend stopping by this business.

Los Robles special, pork and cheese and zucchini pupusa

I was visiting my sister in Virginia, we found some of the most amazing Salvadoran food. I got there Roles special. Which had Carne Asada, but I'm used to it being more of a soup. There was really more of a steak. Still tasty though and had fried plantains which were so delicious, they were sweeter than I was expecting, so maybe they were more ripe than normal. And I am not normally a fan of rice. But their rice was delicious, and the beans were perfect. We also got pupusa, mine was pork and cheese with zucchini. I had never had zucchini in a pupusa before, it made it slightly soggy on the bottom, but it was delicious. A very good addition. I highly recommend this place.

This was one of the most interesting restaurant experiences that I have ever had. This is advertised as an El Salvadoran restaurant, but it also has traditional Mexican items on the menu. I decided to go with Mexican food, as that is what I was craving. I would regret this later on. The ambiance was off. There was rock music playing, the lights were off and it was dark. It did not feel like a Hispanic restaurant. Based off the theme, I believe they are trying to appeal to the folks who reside in this small mountain town. Customer service was mixed, some of the staff were kind and some were stand offish. I was seated and looked at the menu, I ordered chips and guac as my appetizer, and (a chicken tamale, chorizo taco, carne asada taco, chicken taco + a plate of rice and beans for my main order). Despite these items being on the menu, the staff seemed hesitant and uncomfortable with me ordering these items. They had to get permission from the chef to see if they could make these items. The chips & guac were delicious! In fact, they were the best part of my restaurant experience. After that, it all went downhill! It took a long time for my food to come out. When it did, I wanted it to go back in the kitchen. The tamale was half cooked, the tacos were filled with greasy meat and stuffed into old floppy tortillas, the beans looked like sauce poured out of a can, and the rice has flavorless. Now on the menu the tacos said that they came with cilantro and onions, I asked my waiter about this & he noted "There is cilantro and onions in the salsa" Which was really Pico de Gallo!!! At this point I was truly appalled. The food was flavorless, and tasted like I was just consuming masses of stuff. The tamale tasted like it was boiled and had no flavor. It was disgusting, and I am in shock that I ate as much as I did looking back. Here are some suggestions to improve: 1. Take everything that is Mexican cuisine off of the menu, based off of my experience the chef clearly cannot cook authentic Mexican food. If it is an El Salvadoran restaurant, stick to that! Stick to what you all do best! 2. Do not be afraid to season the food! I know it is a small town, but rejecting authenticity to accommodate others is not okay. Add a spice option to the menu if your staff are worried about offending folks taste buds! This does a disservice to those who enjoy authentic cuisine. 3. Please turn on the lights and play some latin music! Spice it up! It felt pretty depressing inside of here. 4. Make sure the descriptions on the menu are what the customer is actually getting. I have lived and traveled all throughout Latin America, so I genuinely expected a lot better! Hoping that this establishment can improve!

This is the absolute best guacamole anywhere around Charlottesville and second place is not even close. Always made fresh, none of that premade crap and very flavorful. I ordered the pollo asada tonight and my wife ordered the taco salad con pollo and both were delicious.

It's just a quaint little house, but the food and service is great. There was enough meat on my tacos to double the tacos. Highly recommend.

I was walking nearby and a group of guys passed me and walked inside. And for some reason at that particular time in the moment In that very second it hit me. Go check it out. Let me tell you all I'm glad I did. I went in scoped the place out thinking get something. Try it out, yelp it. I watched the guys order these soup bowls and I looked at the menu above behind the ordering station with the cashier. They guys ordered soup dinners instead of burritos or tacos I thought, ok must be good I was thinking. It looked very authentic on the menu. I walked up and wanted to try something simple and small not a soup yet had to peak my interest with the taste buds ya know what I'm saying. So I was wanting a burrito, I asked the cashier gentleman questions what goes inside, how is it, what's it come with like sides and all. He told me asked me what meat I wanted for the burrito I was ordering, I said ground beef, he said they don't have that, closest thing would be the steak. I'm not going to lie when I heard no ground beef I was going to say cancel on my order and I was going to leave. I was upset, hearing no ground beef as an option. But I stood there with the thought get the steak option that he offered, do it. Just do it. Say it. And I did, I kept the ordering going. I ordered the steak meat especial burrito. And omg it was fantastic! I fell in love with this place. I definitely recommend this place. If you ever walk into a restaurant and are not up for taking chances, well screw that, break the boundaries take the extra step surprise yourself. You may be shocked and confused on what you have missed. You may actually find something that makes your taste buds happy. Enjoy take a leap of taste. Wink Wink

The wait was longer than expected, and the service was below average, largely because the restaurant appeared busy and understaffed. There were other frustrated patrons having a similar negative experience waiting around as well. That said, the food was so delicious that I was able to overlook the frustrating pickup experience and still give Gloria's top marks. I honestly can't recall having better pupusas anywhere. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were full, and each dish felt homemade. I'm still thinking about it days later. A genuine word of warning: if Gloria's is your first stop in Staunton, you may not feel much motivation to try anywhere else for the rest of your trip. It sets the bar that high

Didn't get an opportunity to see the indoor section of the restaurant. The server was very friendly, but they were very busy and it did affect speed of service. In terms of beverages, I ordered horchata because I always order horchata. I have yet to meet a horchata I didn't like, and this was no exception. Sweet and delicious. I ordered birria tacos and a loroco pupusa. The birria was tasty and savory, as to be expected. Like most people, I dip my tacos in the broth because it's delicious. The loroco pupusa was really cheesy, which is a plus for me. All in all, this was a great place and I look forward to going back to try other items on their menu.
