Rainy day today so I was craving some pozole. I had to stop at my favorite place. Was surprised to see that they updated the paint job, definitely looks a lot better now. Love the vibrant colors. Carne asada tacos are still bomb and they still have the best pozole ever! Ask for the handmade tortillas for the tacos because it definitely makes a difference. It's a bit more for the handmade tortillas but it's worth it.

Words cannot explain how FANTASTIC the food is here. It's a hole in the wall and food took a while to be made...but when it was done it was hot and fresh. Worth the wait! Will be making up excuses to drive by Culpeper just to eat here again.

The food is definitely authentic and delicious! The only issue I had was that it does take a while to receive your food. The issue may be lacking staff as I noticed that the cashier that took your order was the same person cooking and calling pick up orders. Went for a quick lunch while passing by Culpeper and ended up behind a little over an hour for only tacos.

Pretty great food here. It's all in Spanish, so if you don't speak it, there are pictures and people able to help you. I had the Cuban, my buddies got the fajita. All were great and the sauces available are awesome too. We tried the tamatillo, and the jalapeño versions, which the jalp version what decently hot. The Cubano: It was a chicken breast, piece of ham,eggs/chorizo, flank steak wrapping pulled pork and cheese, and a jalapeño tomato lettuce, with multiple layers of cheese. Mayo spread on the toasted bun. A hot jalapeño salsa sauce added for flavor. It was so good and I only ate half. Cost 9.99$. Total bliss. My friends liked their fajitas too. The establishment itself is nice as well. Bathrooms and facilities seemed clean as well.

One must be cautious when there is only 1 review and it is 5 stars. I also believe finding good Mexican food in this part of Virginia is a difficult mission. Tucson has got me spoiled. We were the only customers. Drink machine had no ice. Pop tasted strange. I ordered a bean burrito and got one wrapped in foil that had no tomatoes or onions or salsa!!! We also got no chips and no salsa. My dining partner ordered a cheese enchilada and what arrived was basically a blob of cheese. She ate my bean burrito and I was happy to let that happen. They had the TV playing at an absolutely deafening level....Very off putting.

On a return from Busch Gardens we took a route that kept us from the main congestion of Washington and Richmond this finding ourselves In Culpeper VA. Looking for a Mexican restaurant we stumbled across this delightful delicious restaurant. Like other reviews mention, the decor and the surroundings is not what someone should judge this place by. At the heart of it, it's the food, and the food here is fantastic. Everything I had was tasty and some of my meal was the best I ever had, like the flan. Oooooh the flan is a must have. So rich and creamy it is almost like cheesecake! Next fav was the watermelon aquas frescas. It was especially delicious! Most likely there are different flavors each day, and if you happen to be blessed like me, watermelon will be in season, so you will be able to buy the watermelon aquas frescas. For my meal I had one carnitas sope, one pork and cheese papusa and a side of beans and rice. A great variety of sauces will top your meal perfectly. If I'm ever back in the area I will make sure to eat here again. I recommend stopping and giving it a try today!

This hole in the wall is more tex Mex than Mexican. Can't get your typical chips and salsa but what you can get is an awesome taco for cheap. Pupusas are wonderful. Highly recommend.

I came here for the chilaquiles and even though it's not the real sauce that is supposed to go with it it still is good and a good presentation. The sauce that they use is more like the type that you put on top of an enchilada cheesy but still flavorful. The steak that accompanied it I going to be tough as cardboard but it was actually pretty tender and has some really nice fatty marbling that I enjoyed. The two eggs are easy, well I don't think the cook knows but over easy is. I got over hard and over medium but that's okay, that's just being too picky. When you first come in, you're greeted with about a dozen tables that are a very intricate design, and you can tell they put a lot of money into this interior. The tables do not wobble! I went to wash my hands in the restroom and it was clean as a whistle, this must mean their kitchen is clean as well. Definitely a comforting feeling. Parking is kind of limited but you can always Park next door to the other businesses. The music is a nice Mexican accent with music that pertains according to your surroundings and menu placements. It works well and not very loud where you can't hear yourself eat.. There was one lady who was working by herself and I kind of felt sorry for her because she's doing all the running but it's not that busy enough for another person and her service was pretty much outstanding for me. Even though she misunderstood or misheard what I ordered and receive something completely different in front of me, without rolling an eye or any size she apologized profusely and took it to the back to bring me what I really ordered. That's service there and that did not ruin the moment because the attitude is the way you should have it any restaurant mistake or not. Stopped here Friday (6/18) afternoon to pick up a quick lunch to take home with us after doing some shopping. It was around 1:15 p.m. & the parking lot had about 4-5 vehicles of patrons besides us. One table was already dining; the rest of us were waiting for our orders. And the wait tends to be on the long side. Husband ordered 3 regular chicken tacos; while I ordered 1 chicken, 1 marinated pork, & 1 tripe - all were $3 each, were in warm double soft corn tortillas, were liberally topped with diced onion & cilantro, & came with a couple of fresh lime wedges & quite a few sliced radishes. One small plastic cup of "green sauce" & one of "red sauce" were included. Unfortunately, we found these tacos disappointing. The chicken consisted of tiny little dried-up nubbins of meat that were difficult to get down, even with sauce, & my marinated pork taco was almost inedibly salty. The only possible saving grace would have been my tripe taco, which was moist & flavorful, but that one taco was all-tortilla & almost no filling. Maybe 2 tablespoons at most. Bottom Line: For around $20.00, this was a disappointment when compared to the "La Chiapaneca" food truck on the other side of town. However, we did see a couple of large overstuffed Cubano-type sandwiches & other items go by that tells me that perhaps the "regular tacos" are not their strong point. Staff were very pleasant & friendly, but like I said - you may have quite a wait because it also looked like quite a few folks had called their orders in ahead of time & were just there to pick up. Another tip - be sure to check your order before leaving, as while we were there one woman returned & complained that her order was missing an item for which she then had to endure another long wait. She was not pleased.

No problem there, & they were very friendly & interrupted their repast to put in our order of a few chicken tacos to go ($3 each). I asked for my tacos with "everything"; husband ordered his with "no onions". Took about 20+ minutes, so we wandered around the space which looked to be under renovation as they seemed to be putting in an adjoining bakery. They did have a bakery case, but none of the offerings were labeled or priced, & frankly did not look fresh, so we didn't bother with any of that. Took our tacos home & really were disappointed. Yes, the tortillas were fresh, but the amount of chicken (a bit overcooked) was stingy & my "everything" tacos consisted of chopped onions & cilantro. No cheese, no tomatoes, no sauce, no nothing else. Husband's "no onions" tacos had NOTHING. Not only "no onions", but no nothing. Just the overcooked chicken in dry tortillas. Sorry folks, but La Chiapeneca serves up 100% better tacos than this place.
