I enjoy getting takeout here. I often get their birria tacos. They are delicious here! Whoever makes them does them just right. They are not as expensive as other places but it's always been worth the money. I've also gotten their sopa de res, sopa de gallina, and their fajitas. Those two soups are also full of flavor and tasty here. The fajitas are good. The service is always really pleasant here. I've never actually had a sit down meal here. It's mostly because of the ambiance. It's decent and a comfortable feeling but I just don't feel it quite hits for me to dine in. There is another half of the restaurant that looks better but I assume it's for special events. It could definitely use some upgrades for the main eating area but I assume that will take some time. I will continue coming here while I'm in the area. If you order the birria tacos for the first time, you may wonder why it cost so much for a few tacos because I sure asked myself that until I tasted them and later on saw how they were made. They take much longer than traditional tacos because they are made with tender, slow-cooked meat along with a flavorful blend of spices. These come with small pieces of chopped onions, cilantro, lime slices, radish slices, and of course the birria sauce. You can dip your taco into the sauce or pour it on your taco. I came here for dinner while on travel for work. I looked at restaurants the were in the area that I was staying at that looked interesting. This one made my list partly due the reviews and partly due to the type of food that they served. The restaurant is located in a strip mall that is somewhat quiet and the restaurant is about midway across the strip. I might have been a little early for dinner based on the amount of diners eating compared to the amount went I left. This is not to say that the food was bad in fact it was amazing. I ordered 2 different appetizers for dinner. One was yucca frites with fried pork bits and the other one was chicarron. Both were amazing. I would order either of them again but probably not both together. Both were so amazing and different from what I have had in the past. I finished my meal with flan. It was decent. Not something spectacular but nothing horrible. I would have it again. If and when I'm back in the area, I will probably return. read more

Great Salvadorian food! As a tourist who has visited El Salvador, I thought the food was very authentic and the service was great! They start you off with some chips and salsa which are amazing! The salsa has a kick to it so if you can't tolerate spicy, you may not like it. The chips are nice and crispy and are served hot with just the right amount of salt in each bite. Since it was a Wednesday I ordered bean and cheese pupusas! They have a deal for $1 pupusas on Wednesday's... cheapest dinner I've ever had. They were delicious and paired with a small salad. Our waitress brought out some tomato sauce to drizzle on the pupusas but I personally thought it tasted even better with the salsa! They are very filling! I ordered 2 and was extremely full. I think if you are super hungry you may be able to eat 3 but not more than that. For dessert we ordered one of their popular items that's not on the menu but will be made if asked. We've been wanting to try this place but hadn't been able to until recently. All I can say is what a great find! Speaking of a find, you'll need to use Google Maps to find this place as it's in a strip mall off of Route 3 and behind an office building. But once you zero in on it, it's all good! I definitely won't have any problem finding my way there again. ;) We ordered online and the food was ready within a matter of minutes after walking through the door. Friendly & Fast service. The ride home was both heaven and hell. The food smelled so good I couldn't get home fast enough to dig in! Glad we live close because 15 minutes later we were opening up the containers and "oohing and aahing" over the way the food smelled & looked. And the best part was it tasted as good as it looked. We ordered Birria Tacos, Enchiladas with Green Sauce, Rice Flour Mixed Pupusa and a Burrito De La Casa. Each one of these things were awesome. Flavors and textures were spot on and portions were larger than we expected. Needless to say I had some leftovers the next day! We'll be visiting J'angelas Restaurant again soon as I have a feeling it's going to be our new "go to" for great food and convenient location to us. read more

Today we visited J'Angelas Restaurant for the first of what will be many times. We started with the appetizer sampler which had two pupusas, Salvadorian slaw, chicharrón and yuca, and tostones. My wife had a steak burrito, my daughter had fajitas, and I had birria tacos. It all was PHENOMENAL, the service was GREAT, and we felt like we were eating with family rather than at a restaurant. The wonderful waitress answered our questions about the menu, made suggestions, made sure my daughter's food didn't have any of her allergy triggers and that she was comfortable (she uses a wheelchair). I heard of this restaurant by word of mouth from my el Salvadorian friend, he said this place serves the best steak tacos and pupusas in Fredericksburg! Our server, Angela, was amazing. So friendly and helpful. She let us know about upcoming events and certain specials that they do such as (I think the price was) $1.25 steak or chicken tacos on Tuesday and pupusas on Wednesday! They also have happy hour all day on Sunday's and Tuesday-Thursday 3-9. We ordered the cheese pupusas and steak tacos. The "cheese pull" from the pupusas were out of this world! So good and they didn't skimp on the fillings! We got three sauces, a hot and original sauce for the pupusas and a green sauce for the tacos. If you're looking for no frills El Salvadorian food, this is your place. I went because they have $1 pupusas on Wednesday. Tuesday is $1 tacos (which I need to come back to try) and Thursday is a deal on their chicken sandwich which I've heard amazing things about. I asked the waitress for 3 pupusas of her choice that she thought I would like, so I'm not exactly sure what I got, but my favorite had beans and cheese. I got a to-go order a few weeks later and got the mixed pork, cheese, and bean which is my new favorite! They came with a cabbage slaw and tomato sauce and I thought both complimented the meal very well. The slaw added a nice crunch to the meal since the pupusas are soft and the tomato sauce helped cut the oily goodness of the pupusa. Neither of which were spicy which I was initially concerned about. Before our food came out, they brought us chips and salsa. The chips were hot, fresh, and perfectly salted. I did not eat much of the salsa because I have a low spice tolerance. We also saw a picture on yelp of the fluffy yuca bites in dark caramel, but did not see it on the menu. It looks like they recently updated their menu and might have forgotten to add it on. We asked our server about it, and she put in the order. I was really excited to try these, but did not like them as much as I wanted to. They were way too sweet - the yucca was shredded, sweetened, and deep fried into a donut shape then topped with very sweet dark caramel as well. The caramel had a granular consistency which means the sugar did not dissolve all the way before they plated it. They looked amazing on the picture but unfortunately, I was not a fan. Next time, I will probably try the custard filled empanadas or flan instead. All in all, this is a great place to go on Wednesday if you're looking for a great deal on authentic pupusas. We were sat on the other side of the restaurant with little to no service, she never checked on us and wasn't very attentive when taking our order. New place we found through yelp. We have driven past it on rt 3 numerous times but didn't know it was tucked back in a strip of business on the side. I hope they put out better signage because the food was really good! My fiance loves Latin American food. It's hard to find here in Fredericksburg. This place is goid, it has about 5 selections of Latin food and the rest is a good selection of all kinds of food. He had the Carne asada and it was very tasty with rice and beans. He also had the yucca with chiccarorn amd pupusas . I had the burger which was very good, one of the thickest and best in the area with good steak fries! I'm not sure why this place gets as good reviews as they do. I took the family here and was not impressed at all. The service is slow and the food lacks any flavor. I've had great El Salvadorean food, and this was no comparison. We won't be returning. We ordered Old Bay Seasoned Wings and that was the highlight of the meal. Nachos Supreme with steak. The steak didn't have much flavor but the portion size was good. We had a lot of leftovers and did not take any home since it wasn't appetizing. J'angelas Special was pretty plain too. As we're on holiday vacation visiting family in the area we decided to visit this place, we have been here before and it never disappoints. This time I decided to write a review because it deserves the highlight. We looked at the menu online, made reservations and placed our orders as I read before the food takes a while to come out but the wait is so worth it! Best decision ever! When we arrived our server had our table for 10 ready and our food came out really fast. Hot plates with fresh food made from scratch. The freshness of the food is something you can taste in every bite as we all scraped our plates clean.
