My daughter and I did a half-day private rock climbing session with Pura Vida. We set it up via phone a couple of days before with Joe, the owner. Super nice guy. Daniel was our guide. He was excellent. Gave us lots of info about the area as we hiked in, and provided lots of quality instruction while we climbed. We're both novice climbers, and he took great care of us. He even provided encouragement/consolation when it was clear my daughter was a far better climber than me. (I do outweigh her by like 130 pounds though...) We each got several climbs in. Daniel moved the anchor points a few times, so we could try different routes. I'd definitely use them again. We had a great time. read more

I had a great time mountain biking in Las Catalinas thanks to the PV folks. They set me up with a hard tail 29er for five days. Since I was staying down the road, they let me store the bike at their shop. It was super convenient. The mountain biking was great. I went in the trail system next to their shop. It's a little steep, but not overly technical. There definitely wasn't anything I wanted rear suspension for. I did have a mechanical issue on day four, which must be a possibility with any bike on these trails. But the issue was practically the best experience of the whole thing. One of their mechanics had the whole thing fixed up for me by the next day. read more

Had an amazing time today canyoneering with Pura Vida Adventures. They were very accommodating in arranging a private adventure with the three of us. Joe the owner and Daniel accompanied us. They are both extremely knowledgeable and fun. They put safety first. We did a nice hike up to the falls, received a lesson on repelling, and then one by one we canyoneered down the waterfall! Killer adventure!! We did the tombstone canyoneering trip with these guys and what a great crew. Very personable and understanding. We had to cancel our first reservation about a year ago do to an accident, they have a great reschedule policy and we were able to reschedule almost close to a year after. It was just myself and my boyfriend with two guides. So much fun and easy to talk to guys, very knowledgeable of the local area. And the brewery tour after was amazing, the owner Joe even picked us up at our campsite since we were MTB the whole time as transportation. Drove us around to breweries and had a great time. We had so much fun on our kayak ride! The guide at Pura Vida who took us to the site was so friendly and welcoming. It's a little expensive, (it cost $150 for a 3 person party on a 1/2 day kayak excursion). However, we had beautiful views and saw a cow on the river bank as well as a blue heron! read more

Ill begin with my first phone call to this place. Terrible from the start. I called to inquire about their art loeb trail shuttle. Before I could even finish my question, I was cut off and told that I should just fill out there question form on the website and that all info would be forwarded to me. When I did that all they sent was a link to their site which I already had or wouldn't have called them in the first place. Anyways after many emails back and forth which could've been handled in 3 minutes on the phone, I went ahead and booked a shuttle for July 4th. The morning of July 3rd the weather gets bad. Tons of lighting and a flash flood advisory hit the area where we were supposed to hike. Very dangerous conditions. I emailed them about the weather to try and reschedule and all the could say was that the site says no refunds. I did not ask for a refund but simple to reschedule because of the dangerous weather. Rather than work with me at all I was advised to read the website which states "no refunds". My group was 6 ppl for a total of $185. All they could say was "we may be able to offer you a discounted rate in the future". In the future rather than deal with these high prices and poor customer service I will use Harry's Asheville airport shuttle service. Harry has excellent customer service and charges a fraction of the cost. read more
