Overall, Pure Barre was a great experience. Our group of 25 rented out the space for a private class which allowed the newbies to learn the basics of barre. Great teacher who was motivating throughout the class and really clean room/equipment. I love that we were always moving into different positions and working every part of the body. I do wish the studio offered variations of barre or even threw in some yoga-fusion, but with the name Pure Barre you know what to expect! Also really cute workout clothes. read more

My friend and I bought a Gilt for the 5 class deal! Couldn't have been happier! I am on my way to join Pure Barre Deerfield (it is much closer to me then Evenston). The girls here are fantastic, loved all the instructors we had! No one class is the same. I felt so good after my classes, energized and I felt like the work outs actually made a difference! Also, I loved getting a tour of the audio and a little intro before our first class. These ladies take care of you if you are a member, there are things in the bathroom you can use to freshen up if you are on your way somewhere after the class, all the matts and equipment is very clean, they even will give you a bottle of water if you forgot yours! I also like that they have early and late classes as well as weekend classes! read more

Pure Barre continues to be a challenging and fun workout. I love that you can always get more out of class by pushing yourself harder or catching an intricacy of a movement that you missed before. Where do I start! From the amazing management, teachers, location and studio I can't say enough good things about Pure Barre Evanston. As a brand new mom I knew I needed something that would get me back into my pre-baby shape. I was nervous to do anything strenuous since I had a c-section. Brynn (the studio manager) assured me that this is the best type of workout you can do. And she was right! Brynn has been so encouraging and inviting. She's so friendly and kind. It's like we've known each other for years. Mia, Jess and Jamie are such great teachers. They are so motivating during class. It's amazing how much I can enjoy "the shake" when they are teaching. After two and a half months of coming to classes 2-3 times a week, I can honestly say that this has become one of my favorite ways to spend 50 minutes. I recently bought the one month, new client membership and have been attending classes multiple times each week. I've been impressed with each and every teacher I've had. One of the things I like the most is how welcoming everyone has been to me. I was very impressed how quickly everyone learned my name, which, as a teacher myself, goes a long way with students. Every workout has been different, but equally intense. Each workout targets arms, thighs, seat, and abs while incorporating very small, isolated movements. They tell you to embrace the shake, and you quickly will learn what that means! The studio itself is very clean, modern, fun, and relaxing. Before buying the membership, I'd been to a barre-ty, which is a creative and fun idea for a healthy night out with friends. I'd definitely recommend taking a class here! read more

I think one of the things I like the last about this place is how nice the girls who work there are! They're always sweet and know everyone's name (and believe that's a lot of names to learn). The boutique is always refreshed with cute athleisure apparel (shout out to whomever is the buyer for the store--you have great taste). Working out here is a pleasure. To those unfamiliar with Pure Barre or the barre method, it borrows concepts from Pilates and ballet by focusing on small movements to tone and lift. Each class is 60 minutes and is broken down into a kind of routine between warm up, arms, legs, butt and abs. So you know what to expect with each class and it feels like it goes by quickly which is good. I've definitely seen improvement in my arm and back muscles, as well as can feel the new strength of my legs and butt. read more

PERFECTION! I tried. I loved. I signed up! Back home, barre class was all the rage and I wanted to try it but the price was never right. I was given the opportunity to try a barre class at Pure Barre Evanston and I truly fell in love with this work out. I was skeptical going into the class, I didn't know what to expect and I didn't want to feel forced to sign up. The class was later in the evening and all of me wanted to cancel and not attend... I'm so glad I went. The studio is warm and welcoming and extremely clean. I was greeted by 2 pleasant ladies at the front desk who instructed me on what to do; where to put my things, what equipment to get etc. It was a nice to have someone show me around. It was nice not to feel lost. The music started bumping and the butterflies and adrenaline pumped through my body. For the first time in a while, maybe ever, I was excited to workout. The class was amazing! Our instructor Katelyn walked us through every step. A lot of people in the class were first timers (including myself) and having explanations of each position / step made all the difference. My legs, arms and whole body were shaking by the end. The workout was more challenging than I thought but I felt GREAT after class. When class was over I talked with a couple classmates and the instructor to try and get a sense of what barre is and how it could / would fit into my daily life. Without hesitation I signed up for a month package (a deal was going on) and haven't looked back sense. Having signed up 13 days ago I've attended 4 classes and I feel great. The transformation is happening! If you're thinking about taking a class, do it! Everyone at the studio is so supportive and genuine. It's a great atmosphere to work out in! read more

I've been taking classes at Pure Barre since August and it has quickly become an integral part of my routine. The classes are incredibly challenging, even for veterans, as the routines change frequently and classes vary by day/instructor. Results are noticeable and fast: I've shed four dress sizes. I've taken PB classes at various studios in Chicago and across the country, and Evanston is my favorite location. Brynn, the manager, is an excellent instructor and runs the studio like a boss. Mia, Jess, Lou and Trisha are individually challenging instrctors and collectively provide a motivational and supportive environment. The instructors offer guidance and corrections, which I appreciate, to help with form and maximize impact. Try a class, buy the beginner package and stay for the fun. read more

This is the second Pure Barre location that I've been to and I really love it! It's much more spacious than the location in River North, which really makes a world of a difference when you're trying to get your lift tone burn on. I haven't attended a Pure Barre class since ending a Gilt deal a couple of months back and boy, I did NOT remember the warm-ups being sooo difficult (you've been warned)! The plank tuck combo gets me every time, but the good news is that once you're past the warm up, class is (a bit) more bearable...in a good way. So far, I've had Trisha, Jamie, and Mia as instructors and really loved their enthusiasm and classes overall, especially Mia because I was sore in all the right places the next day. I would definitely recommend this Pure Barre location and would encourage people to keep coming back because it will take you a couple of classes to understand that a tuck is more than just thrusting your hips in the air like you just don't care! read more

I cannot rave about this studio enough!! Especially the instructor I had the other night - her name is Jackie and if you can choose to take her class YOU NEED TO. She has high energy & really knows how to motivate you throughout the entire class!!! She totally made me feel comfortable, as this is my first time doing Pure Barre. I've gone to several different brands of barre studios, and unfortunately this was not my favorite. I didn't find the class to be particularly challenging comparing to some other barre studios I've been to. Don't get me wrong some of the moves were difficult but over all I didn't break much of a sweat and felt like the workout was mediocre. I will maybe try a different instructor next time. read more

This is an outstanding workout option. I joined in the summer after not working out at all for over a year. I can feel the improvement in my muscles and endurance and slowly and surely and safely I am getting stronger and toned as a result of this class. All classes are very well taught. This is the first workout that I have looked forward to going to in years...YEARS. Every single one of the instructors takes the time to know your name and know you. I absolutely love Pure Barre Evanston!!! It's an awesome workout, and the instructors here are fantastic. They take time to get to know all of the clients and motivate you to stick to your workout plan. I've taken barre at a number of other studios, but none beat PB Evanston! They offer a wide variety of class times and a number of specialty classes. I brought my boyfriend to Bring on the Men, and he LOVED it! There are also intensives, which can be super difficult but also super fun. I've been going to PB Evanston since February, and I am already seeing results. I've been doing HIIT workouts for a long time and was reluctant about PB from the start. I started PB in December and am a big fan. The studio is clean. The instructors I've had are great (Jess, Kelsey, Mia, Brynn, Jamie, Maggie)!. They pay attention to my form and inspire me to have my best day. And the workout is tough - in a very different way than HIIT. As you learn the exercises, you can easily challenge yourself as you gain confidence and strength. If you're on the fence, sign up for a few weeks and go regularly. I'm really glad I did. read more
