I'm not going to say that I was EXTREMELY reluctant to take classes at a studio which not only promotes contorting your body in ways you otherwise thought impossible, but also does it in a minimum of 100 degree temperature. But I was reluctant. That being said, they do offer a FREE WEEK OF UNLIMITED CLASSES, and I just can't help myself when FREE is involved. So, naturally, I signed up. What can I say, I'm hooked. I am. I feel better about myself when I'm dripping in sweat, I suppose. Try this, folks. Trust me. You just need to experience the first week and you'll be sold. So reviews you can use: Location: It's located on the back outer edge of Old Orchard Shopping Center, so parking is VERY convenient. INTERIOR: Seems small when you walk in, but this place has full-service locker rooms for men and women. The women's locker room has all you need. Lockers (must bring own lock), showers, bathrooms (duh), and...hair dryers, brushes, mousse, gel, hairspray, hair ties, bobby pins and cotton swabs. If you go before work or another engagement, you can ready yourself right there and then. Sweet. STUDIO: The studio is dedicated ONLY to hot yoga practice, so the rooms are set up with built in humidifiers. This is a plus, I've gone to other hot yoga classes when mini portable steam machines are used and its just not the same. INSTRUCTORS: Super nice. Emphasis on the nice. They are informative during class and assist you with positions when needed. They walk around the room during classes to check that everyone is in correct alignment and are extremely accommodating to those who need to regress to easier positions. Honest, I've been one of those people, so I know firsthand. I have to give a special shout out to the location manager J.S. (you know who you are). You're sweet, pleasant, understanding and an excellent instructor. Thank you. OTHER COMMENTS: THE LEMON/LAVENDER TOWELS!! Good Lawd. This, I recently learned, is unique to suburban locations only. At the end of each class, when you're not really sure you'll ever be able to walk again (or dry off the sweat for that matter) the instructor walks around a places an ice cold lemon/lavender towel on your forehead. After my first ever class, I teared up. No joke. It's orgasmic. I say that with all seriousness. Unlike smaller "non-corporate" studios, here you have to pay for towels and mats if you forget yours. So, if you're trying it for the free week, either borrow a mat from a friend and remember to bring a towel (and a bottle of water) or the FREE will be null and void. It has been about a year since I've last visited Corepower Yoga so I was surprised when I saw the renovated space. I've tried Hot Power Fusion with Lou and Yoga Sculpt with Melissa P. It seems like Yoga Sculpt is the more popular class of the two. I loved Yoga Sculpt! It combines weights, cardio, & yoga in one hour. It was definitely a tough workout, but I felt like I was definitely getting my time & money's worth. Both instructors were nice. Lou seems a bit calmer while Melissa seems to have more energy. For first timers, the first week is completely free. If you want to come back after that: -Usually you can find a Groupon deal or -The first month of membership is $99 or (After that I believe it jumps up to about $140) -Drop ins are $20 each or You can get a student/teacher discount with a valid ID. I love working out here, but it's quite pricey. read more

Things I like about CPY: - the variety of classes offered! You have everything from yoga sculpt (yoga postures with light weights) and varying levels of vinyasa yoga to ryder (like spin class on bikes that lean to the left and right) and core restore (an hour-long stretching class) - the cool (temp-wise) lavender lemon face towels placed on your forehead at the conclusion of most classes - heated room for all classes (to varying degrees) - free first week of class for newbies! - dimmed room - hands-on assists (how else will you know you're not practicing good form?) - calming music - lockers with option to lock (bring your own!) your valuables Things CPY could improve upon: - please please PLEASE put a max capacity on classes. 40 in one room is way too cramped! - room ventilation and sweeping of the floors, esp in between sweaty classes (which most of them are!)! My favorite instructors by far are Lou and Jenna J (not all instructors are as great as they are!). Lou consistently adjusts students and has great command of the postures and flow of class. Jenna J rocks at offering modifications to postures to either make them more challenging or allow them to be scaled back. She also leads class with a smile on her face the whole time! After my first free week, second week (after spending $40+ on merch), and monthlong Groupon, I decided to take the plunge and buy a package of classes. Update: Spinterval classes are gone (sadly), and there have been many changes in staffing and management. But it is still a fantastic place to work out at. I am training for a marathon again and the yoga sculpt, HPF, and rider classes really provide excellent cross training and "rest" for non-running days. By now, I have tried classes with most of the instructors here. Most of them are absolutely fantastic and very good at keeping the workouts fresh and fun. Upgrading this place to a 5 star rating :) --------- I am a runner and was initially skeptical about getting great workouts from anything other than running. However, due to knee injury while training for a marathon, I decided to take advantage of the free trial at CPY. The combination of rider, spinterval, yoga sculpt, and hot yoga classes set to energizing music turned out to be quite addicting, and I have been coming here pretty much every day for several months now. The Old Orchard location is not as pretty as some of the other suburban locations. However, it is one of the very few locations that offer Rider and Spinterval classes. My favorite classes at this location are the rider and spinterval classes with Charleen, Rachel, Hala, and Gia. They also provide cool lemon lavender cloths at the end of most yoga classes, which is a very nice touch. Overall, this is a great place to work out at. Keep it up, CPY Old Orchard ! read more

Great mix of teachers and classes. Trial is free for a week and not much for an additional week. I imagine there is a huge turnover rate for the location. Highly recommend leaving valuables in car as they do not have secure lockers. The facility is very nice, 2 studios for practice & schedule seems pretty open. I freakin' love this place. In the future I plan to visit the other locations, but haven't had the chance yet. I've been taking advantage of their two week trial program (free the first week and only $9 for the second week with a free yoga mat or water bottle included) and recently signed up for their Yoga for Trade program. It's the most amazing deal. I have never come across another gym or club that offers a trade program before, but I couldn't be happier it exists. Before signing up for YFT, I knew that I wanted to get the most out of my trial run and decided to take some of their more challenging classes (CP 2 and Yoga Sculpt). Even as a beginner and not being able to do all of the poses and exercises perfectly, they were worthwhile. CorePower teachers really stress the importance of performing to the best of your ability and not being afraid to fail. The facility itself is also pretty nice. It's usually kept very clean depending on the time of day (especially in comparison to other gyms) and it almost reminds me of a spa experience. They provide the essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair ties, Bobby pins, hairspray, tampons, lotion, mouthwash, etc. If i was really having a bad day at home, I could probably stay at the studio for hours taking as many classes as I wanted to without feeling overwhelmed or rushed out. I am really happy I now have the chance to be more involved in this new hobby without breaking my budget (or even touching it at all) and even hope to incorporate it as a lifestyle. Not sure about other locations as i normally came here but stopped attending because it is quite a high membership for a facility that we don't even use any equipment for...so honestly, I don't see the $125 + membership justifiable..especially since I already pay a pricey gym membership WITH a pool..I can justify the gym though because I'm using weights and the machines and pool..but at CPY..its just a mat...but I guess they have to pass the heating costs somehow to the members.... aside from this though, they will stuff so many people in to a small room...and not put a restriction on class size... not a big deal perhaps on the spinning class but I do have a problem when were in a tiny room with 20+ people when it should only consist of about 13..people max read more

A few of my friends convinced me to try this place out - specifically the Sunday morning Sculpt class with Tatiana. The class itself is ok but nothing exceptional. What annoys me the most though is the attitude that Tatiana has. She was very unpleasant and seemed very annoyed to have to deal with the customers at the check-in. She was rude and condescending and seemed really annoyed to have to be there on Easter Sunday. I was so appalled by the experience that I don't think I'll ever go back there again. Tatiana should learn that customer service is quite important and that people have many choices for where they will practice yoga. read more

We just finished up our free week here. All the instructors I had were phenomenal. We were able to try the Corepower 1 class, core restore, yoga sculpt, and the spinning classes on those insane shifty spin bikes. Let me say - I never needed a towel as much as I needed one here. You sweat so much - you probably need multiple towels. Corerestore was the only one that was not sweaty and is a nice end to the day. The sculpt class was a little to hot for me to do weighted yoga poses - I felt ill. I would probably stick to regular weights and interval training in a slightly cooler room. It was hard to catch my breath. The spinning class I loved - it was very challenging and the teacher - Hala - was so enthusiastic and genuinely happy. I wish more people were like her - the world would be a better place. After most of the classes they give you these cool lavender and citrus scented cloths for your forehead - such a treat after working up a sweat. I think the studio rooms need some paper towels for people to wipe the floor around them after the class since you get so sweaty. I stepped into a puddle one time with my bare feet and just kept telling myself it was water. All I could do was hope! The bathrooms are clean and they give you toiletries. The studio also smells really good - I want my house to smell like that. We had a really good experience. A big plus is you don't have to worry about parking as the studio is right in the Old Orchard Mall. read more

I had not even been to a yoga class since college. I was spoiled by the North. I was sat in a large room of VIP Yoopers, invited only through friends, to sit in a large carpeted room with a giant wall of nothing but glass looking over a beautiful sunset creeping through the trees from across a beautiful lake. That was what I called, and what I still call, Zen. At first I was blown away. Corepower makes up for in lovely aroma therapy what it cannot accomplish with an excellent view. The scent they choose to fill the entire space seems to be lavender mixed with something else. Immediately I started to decompress. I was also very excited that this particular class I attended was in a dark room, which forces people to focus more on themselves. I felt it helped with my focus. The instructors are easy on the eyes, and this particular guy leading the class had my instantaneous respect with his music selection, playing "Open" by the band Rhye. I am so picky with my music, and it floored me that anyone else knew Rhye existed. He must listen to the Indie-electronic station on Slacker Radio! I was not prepared for the heated rooms. My friend neglected to tell me I'd be sweating my caboose off for an hour, and not just testing the stability of my weakened core. I kinda felt stupid wearing long leggings and a t-shirt. This wasn't going to stop me. At first I wondered if it was just me, being that my core is flabby and I have zero balance, but I can see from the rest of the reviews, that it's true. Corepower really packs their classrooms! There isn't much room to stretch into the positions you actually look forward to doing, where you're laying on the floor and extending your arms and legs. Fully extended, the span of my arms were too wide, and I would have been shaking hands with the person next to me had I not moved slightly forward or backwards. At the end of the class, the instructor covers your face with a lavender and lemon water soaked towel. It's cold and it smells lovely. I may have been cramped, but I didn't get the sense that I was ever judged or looked at strangely. I can tell you I was the least experienced person there. Despite the crowding, I got the perception that Corepower is a sanctuary where everyone is accepting of each other. The instructors even thank you for coming and all of us offer thanks in return. Last, the pricing is horrible! Corepower is charging way too much! Perhaps if their packages were priced the same, and your months were added up only when you were actually able to attend, that would be fine. However, my schedule does not allow me to commit or get my moneys worth for what I have to dish out. For instance, their 1 month package should remain the same, but renamed as a 30 day package. It would take me at least 3 to 4 months to make it through that package. I'd like to keep coming here, but it's just too expensive! Come on, $20 for 1 class? You have got to be kidding me. That's highway robbery! Especially when I paid $7 for 1 hour in a much better setting up north! read more

I've ridden South American buses where I had to stand on one leg and lean against a cage of chickens that were less crowded than these classes. It is a shame that this business chooses to overcrowd the classes to the point of creating unsafe and hazardous conditions - even during their Sculpt classes which involve weights and aerobics that require some personal space for movement. I was hopeful about attending this location as it is conveniently located and has free parking unlike the Lincoln Square location. I had arrived early for the class I attempted to attend, had set up my modest space when 2 minutes before class started, was asked with everyone else to squeeze in even closer to make room for more people. As it stood, everyone was already only 2 inches apart. One employee who had planned on attending did kindly try to offer to give up her space but that would NOT have been a solution to the overcrowding issue they allowed to occur. One cannot safely exercise in such conditions (especially with weights), one cannot successfully find the relaxation you seek through yoga and how can the management/corporate not set realistic standards for both safety and comfort for their clients who are paying higher fees than they would elsewhere. Your money would be better spent elsewhere. It is a shame, though, because the rooms are nice, and the instructors seem well qualified. I guess they would rather focus on making more $$$$ and squeezing everyone in than focus on the customer experience. Another area which is unsatisfying: they already are charging each member a high fee, but then they proceed to nickel and dime you for every piece of equipment - mat "rental" towel "rental". This location also does not offer locks whereas the other locations do. read more

Omgs I am shocked this place does NOT have 5 stars. I kow there are locations that are bigger and fancier than this place but I'm sure this is not the worse! First of all, the instructors here are just the best. They are friendly, charming, and very calming. You know how when you go to the gym it feels very intimidating talking to instructors? Well, it is not like that at all here. They make it simple and easy. Yes, some of the rooms may feel like it is falling apart or there isn't enough room for everybody. But in yoga, your mat is all you need. So, I love this place! I tried going to the ones in the city since I used to like around Lakeview, but this was home. Eh, my least favorite CPY in Illinois, but it is the closest to me. There is only one studio, the locker room is a cluster, the flow of this place is weird and everything is just too small for this traffic that should be accommodated at this location. Though the layout of this place completely blows, the classes and instructors are still good. The lone studio itself is not a bad size as it is wider than you would imagine it to be from the outside. And it's in a mall so there is free parking. To my surprise, last time I went to a class (last Saturday), I saw a sign saying that they were expanding?? Not sure what that means, but I hope it is a complete expansion and overhaul of the existing space!! If it is I'm going to be dorky and say I'm totally excited!! read more

3 stars because it is a very clean and nice facility, and I like the nice locker room with clean showers. However this is not the place for me. It is not traditional yoga at all. All levels are hot, and it moves very fast! I really did not like the ab crunch-out in the middle of class. I did not appreciate the tone of the instructor. He was not calming in the least, and was pumping up the class like a bad Tae-Bo video. The music was RIDICULOUS. I also did not like that the instructor did not perform any movements in front of the class for us to copy. He just called out the names of moves with a basic description, inappropriate for a beginners class. I really felt it was manufactured and sucked out the calm spirituality of yoga. Cold lemon/lavender towel? It is 20 degrees outside guys. Please don't try to freeze my brain indoors too. Corepower I REALLY wanted to love you :( read more

I came back after 2.5 years and decided to up my rating to 4 stars! Nice improvements, CPY! Thank goodness for the expansion; the locker room is nearly double what it was (although still feels tight). Also, they have a 2nd heated studio room off to the far right and a cycling studio with Real Ryder bikes (they lean) for the Ryder classes. And the classes are somewhat staggered in time, which is smart to avoid masses of people coming in and out at the same time, especially weekday evenings. I tried C1, C2, Yoga Sculpt, Hot Power Fusion, and CorePower Ryder. Most of the classes are done heated to various degrees, depending on which class. For example, Ryder & C1 aren't even really hot, Yoga Sculpt and C2 are a little warmer, and Hot Power Fusion is possibly the hottest and is like "Bikram Yoga" (but technically not because it's only 60 mins, not in a carpeted room, and the sequence is only completed once). Yoga Sculpt & Hot Power Fusion had me dripping in sweat just 10 mins into class! Love that! You still need to bring your own mat, towel(s), water, and combination lock. Mats & towels are available to rent for a nominal fee, and you can purchase water for $2. Which brings me to my next point... Things they can change to warrant a 5-star review: - Even larger studios or a 3rd room! - Online reservations! I oftentimes worry I won't get into class because some classes are SO crowded! - Side mirrors! Because when classes are so packed or when that unknowing yogi newb plops his/her mat down right in front of you and blocks your mirror view, there's no other way to see how I'm doing. I don't think I will ever join at $139/month for unlimited classes or $20/class, but I will definitely look out for the next groupon. read more

I think this CPY location is PERFECT! Easy parking and lot of mall traffic from Westfield Old Orchard. Although it's smaller than the Park Ridge CPY, it's just as nice! I've only been here a couple of times, but the teachers I've hard are awesome! friendly and talk through the poses so well. I would love to come back, as soon as I can afford it :) read more

A really fantastic studio. I have been to several corepower locations, and I have found the instructors at this location to be the very best. Lots of corrections are given, and even in the free community classes that can be somewhat crowded I always get individual instruction that helps so much with bringing my practice to a new level. The towel at the end is kind of amazing, even if I suspect that it is just chilled lysol... I gave it four stars because the location is VERY difficult to find. I actually missed the first class I intended to go to here because the website (which I think in general is very poorly done) gave very unspecific directions (instead of giving a cardinal direction, it should just say that it faces Niles North High School and the Edens), or that you should enter into the mall entrance off of Golf. I've put a monthly unlimited here at the very top of my wishlist, in the meantime, I will be religiously going to the free C1 class on Sundays. read more

I love corepower yoga! This was my first time at the studio and I had a great yogi by the name of Carla teach a CorePower 1 class. I am fairly new to the practice and I dont quite know all of the moves, so she constantly explained to us every move, transition, pose and helped us count during our breathing. She also moved around the room a lot and made sure that she corrected our forms. Overall, a great class! Your first time, you get a complimentary towel and mat. but make sure to bring your own next time. Oooh and make sure to check out the great yoga wear at the front. Namaste! read more

There's lots to like about this studio. Very clean, relatively new facility. The staff is generally helpful and the yoga teachers are enthusiastic classes are consistent and impactful with classic poses that do the job My only problem with corepower skokie isn't one I've had at other corepowers: the showers are lousy. Take 3 minutes to get warm water. Water never gets hot. And water pressure is weak I've complained a few times but they haven't fixed, which is too bad because the showers/locker rooms are the only competitive advantage over yogaview, ns yoga, etc. With a little improvement of the physical plant, corepower skokie could be a five star studio. read more

I have had the opportunity to take every class offered here. Every instructor has blown me away with their passion for what they do. Although there is a template for each class every instructor tweaks segments to their own style which keeps workouts interesting and challenging. The instructors are powerful motivators who offer modifications and form adjustment recommendations to assure a great and safe workout. Okay people, I have done everything from weights to boxing to tai kwon doe; and Corepower Yoga has proven to be one of the most effective fitness-rebound workouts that I have ever experienced. I go pretty much every day under a monthly membership and, just saying, if you are seeking your best value for "Dollars Spent" plus "Time Invested" on your health; Corepower hits the nail on the head! This place is excellent in many ways! After briefly reading other reviews, think I will fill in two gaps: Instructors & Financials.... Okay, instructors... not a bad one there! Will give you an overview of the instructors that I have worked with over 6 times (I go every day now) Beth H.: Of all the instructors, Beth & Emmaline are probably your best "descriptive & metaphoric" instructors. In other words, if Yoga is new to you, these 2 instructors will be able to talk you through your positions without the need to constantly stare at others =) But back to Beth..... Beth teaches a pretty solid Corepower 1 & 1.5 class... But lately, and this is my opinion, she has "upped" the intensity of her 2.0 classes. About a week or 2 ago, she literally talked an entire Corepower 2 class through a "double-time vinyasa" with every single person in the class in synch! It was not only amazing; but all were keeping up; not a single dropout! This instructor is a favorite to bring friends to.... Emmaline: Whereas Beth could best be described as "perky," Emmaline is the "trancer;" Her voice is calm and, once your breathing is in synch, you find yourself ignoring your thoughts and and following "very descriptive" instructions. At times, Emmaline's instructions are so specific and precise; you might perceive her voice as that of an airline attendant instructing you on how to use the overhead oxygen mask. This is not a "dis;" this is a compliment, Emmaline not only talks you through positions, she tells you what & where you should be feeling AND subtly lets you know what should not be happening and how to correct..... Jasmine: I have only taken Sculpting classes with Jasmine; and if you have done yoga sculpting, think you would agree that the most important trait of an instructor in this area is "keeping you up!" Jasmine does a great job of "distracting" from the pain with statements like "Smile, it won't hurt if you are smiling." Or "keeping you in the game" with statements like "Only 10 more seconds. You can do anything for 10 seconds." To be honest with you, Jasmine's class was a bit tough for me when I first came to Corepower, but now I can readily keep up =) Tatiana: Have only taken Tatiana for Sculpting classes. And if you believe that you are in shape, Tatiana can make you rethink that! Tatiana is, by far, the toughest I have experienced at Corepower. The two expressions that are imbedded in my mind are; within the first 10 minutes "Ohhhh, come on, we're just starting!" & half way through.... "Ohhhhhhh, come on, you're dropping like flies!" It should come as no surprise that Tatiana also runs a Yoga Boot Camp class for Corepower as well. Soooooo, if you believe you are in shape, take a Tatiana Sculpting class and prepare for a day and a half of pain in every limb and gluts! Regarding Children: By the way, I take my 13 year old daughter to many classes and the instructors do seem to focus on correcting the younger ones. This would be a great "life skill" that you should offer your kids..... I do not see many younger kids at Corpower and believe that some of the attendees should bring their sons and daughters.... But believe that Corepower requires that they be 13 or older and be with an adult. Financials: Okay, if you are like me, you will wind up going every day or pretty often, so here is how my financials worked: First week - Got 1 week free yoga Second Week - Because I bought supplies in first week, I got my second week of Yoga free too! After second free week, got All You Want Yoga for $99 for one month After that, goes to $139.00 a month, but my daughter stays at $99.00 a month because she is a student and "students, teachers and instructors" get a discounted $99/mo membership. I had been going to Yoga/Pilates class there since I started going last year. At the time, they offered Yoga/PIlates Monday through Friday, at a super convenient time--1:30-2:30. Last October, they changed the schedule but raised the prices, reducing this class to only Tues and Thurs, and eliminating some of their evening classes. I continued going on Tuesdays because there was an amaaaazing instructor. The best I have ever had. Today, I went there for my usual class only to find out that it was totally cancelled. No warning. And in its place is sculpt, which I hate. The thing I hate most about sculpt is that these young, non-thorough, checked out kids teach it usually, cranking up the music, not paying attention to anyone in the class or caring how their form is of if they are doing it correctly. They had no reason as to the cancellation. And I cannot understand why, because there was a community of us who regularly attended, and the class was almost always full. Luckily the instructor still teaches at other locastions, but sadly, the things she specializes in--Pilates--is not offered at any corepower yoga in my area. I'm so very upset about this. Also, the studio is not well managed. The bathrooms are often dirty and gross, with hair in the showers, the vents above them are full of dust, the lights in the vanity have been out for nearly 6 months. I cannot recommend this studio. I am so very sad that they have cancelled this amazing class. read more

I've been coming to this studio for a year and a half and have been reluctant to write a review because my experience has been so mixed here. I go to the hot yoga and HPF classes most regularly and love Elly and Becky. They're both great instructors and really kind, genuine people- and they get the room hot enough to get a good sweat on. Unfortunately, the other instructors that I have experienced have not been good at all, which is frustrating if someone is subbing a class that I normally attend. Most recently, I experienced a class with Christy, (subbing for Elly) who was so sub-par that I finally decided to write a review. The poses were extremely rushed, the room was not hot (this seems to be an issue so far in the newer studio), and a few poses were completely skipped. Her energy was also non-existent. As far as the space, the locker room is a bit better since the expansion, though, and I apologize if this seems petty, for some reason, the person who cleans comes in and begins cleaning just after the 8am class ends- additionally reducing the number of showers, and adding to the congestion. Maybe the locker room can be cleaned during class instead? The stars I gave are for the subs and locker room and heat issues. Please note that i would give Elly and Becky 5 stars, if I could just review them. read more

I attend yoga classes here regularly and always have a great experience. The yoga instructors are all great and very helpful with demonstrations, hands-on assistance (only if you want it) and answering all of your questions before and after class. Hot Power Fusion is my favorite class, but it can fill up fast depending on the day and time you go. They hand out cold, lemon lavender washcloths for your head at the end of each class and they smell heavenly and are so refreshing. You can buy 10-day class passes and can rent yoga mats and towels as well. I'm excited to try out the Winnetka studio this month. read more

I like CPY and have been going for quite some time, although have only had the membership for about 3 months. What I like about CPY is the variety of classes, class times available, and convenience of the locations to where I live. I don't find the classes to be over crowded, unless you go to one of the free community classes. Instructors are very good for the most part and I feel like I always get a good workout in. read more

Before I begin I would like to say I am a yoga snob. I have been to hundreds of studios and am very picky about yoga classes. I found CorePower (a chain) a while ago and have been to three different CorePower studios. I love CorePower because I feel like I can get a good workout as well as practicing yoga. I do wish the classes were longer than an hour so I can get a good workout and meditation/relaxation in, but they do the best they can in an hour. I have found the studio at Old Orchard to be much less rigorous than others. The classes are generally not as heated and much less difficult as other studios. The teachers seem to be hit or miss here, some being wonderful and others being average at best. Chrissy and Elle are amazing teachers, make sure you try their yoga sculpt! I find that their CorePower 2 classes are not challenging enough which is disappointing. If they offered a more challenging vinyasa yoga class that would make this studio complete! read more

I love this place. I've been trying to find a place that combines hot yoga with other forms of fitness and this is the place! I went to a Bikram Yoga studio in the city and it was ok, but the people weren't very friendly and they only had the same class over and over. Yoga sculpt is difficult, especially Hala's class, but they really motivate you to get through it. My favorite instructor is Annette. If you get a chance, take one of her classes, she's awesome!! read more

This is my favorite place on the planet. While Bikram seems to be good for your mind (and your skin), it doesn't do anything to help you lose weight or get in shape. (90% of every Bikram class I've ever been to his made up for fatties.) This place is the best. (I've also been to one class at their Uptown studio. It was really early on a Sunday and there were only two of us there. Not good news for the studio, but it was nice to get a private class!) Anyway, I haven't had a bad (or mediocre) class at the Old Orchard studio yet. I love Core Power 2, Fushion and Yoga Sculpt. The Yoga Sculpt class was the hardest class I've ever taken and I can't wait to go back tonight. If these classes don't get you into shape I don't know what will. I wish I could live here. read more

Not a big fan of the pricing, but this location has some kick ass instructors. Brought a friend with me for the first time, wouldn't want him to try his first yoga class anywhere else. Sarah was exceptional. And btw, they also offer more classes, than most locations. read more

Nice staff and very good facilities. If you're expecting luxury locker rooms, stick with gym yoga. I tried their classes out for two weeks and found the instruction decent. If you're an advanced practitioner, you probably won't like the classes--even the "hardest"--since they are geared to the novice. My take-away is that CPY fills the niche for those who would find Birkram too strenuous. The studio is heated but never gets to the Death Valley temperatures of Bikram. read more

I do yoga about 3 times a week and I have been coming here for 3 years. Always clean, friendly, and full of kind people. Sculpt classes are great if you want a high energy, full body workout. Annette teaches the best sculpt classes, I highly recommend! read more

I decided to try Core Power on Groupon as a change of pace from two other studios I frequent. The location is dynamite and first impressions were good. The men's changing/shower area is quite cramped if more than 3 people are in there at the same time. The yoga studio is generously sized and adequate. There is nothing in particular about the ambiance that struck me with lighting and a small window keeping the room fairly dark. After a few classes, it did strike me that I never saw anyone cleaning the studio either before or after class. Perhaps, I missed it on every occasion. I took Tatiana's level 2 class a few times. Both in terms of yoga experience and overall fitness, I was well qualified for it. After the first class, I, for the first time in my life, experience significant muscle soreness. Several weeks later, after rest and cross training (swimming and light yoga), I took the class again as it happened to work with my schedule. Without going into unnecessary details, the results were catastrophic. I remain hopeful that I will be able to once again enjoy yoga next year. In my case, there was no one pose or time during the class that I can point to. Perhaps, my body and fitness level did not mix well her teaching style. It has never happened to me before in any style of yoga including classes so challenging I could not finish them. I'd HIGHLY recommend you proceed very cautiously. read more

Absolutely love this place! its clean!! that's so important to me!! clean showers, amenities and lockers! whenever I begin or finish a class, I almost always see the cleaning lady doing her thing! I've been to yoga studios in the past, where I was so turned off by their facility and smell (odor tells you everything) that I dread going to yoga. but since finding core power in old orchard, I've been returning for 3-4 classes a week, and I feel great! on to the classes,... I highly recommend the ryder classes! esp. ryder with Barri or Nina! their classes are extremely addictive, these instructors are really know how to encourage you and keep you moving! and these bikes are unlike any other spin-class bikes, because they sway side to side, so you're engaging your core more so than on a regular bike. for hot yoga I really like Annette! she's very experienced! but come early, her classes are always packed! for sculpt class, I lean towards Kelly or Melissa's class, they're both high energy and give you that full body work out that keeps you burning calories for hours to come! I can't stress enough how much this place is a life-saver/secret gem in Skokie! read more

This was my first time doing a class at this studio. As I was parking my car, a woman actually opened the door and yelled at me rudely to hurry up and RUN through the mall parking lot because the class was about to start. As I got inside and apologized, they saw how visibly distraught I was and the women at reception snickered to each other as they said "I mean, that's so rude, the class is about to start." I was standing right there and they had no care about treating me like a paying customer, and a NEW customer at that. Since this was my first time at the studio, I did not know where the rooms were, so I wandered around looking for my class and the receptionists offered no help. I eventually sat down in a room that turned out to be incorrect, making me even more late for my class. Yoga is supposed to be about feeling good about yourself, and these instructors made me feel terrible. I have been to a lot of different studios and I have never had such a horrible experience. I rarely write reviews, but I thought I would take a couple of minutes to do so (my experience was that bad). This location recently expanded it's studio to include real ryde bikes ... I been to several spin studios (flywheel, spynergy, and real ryde). I absolutely loved the work out at Real Ryde spin studio in the loop. However, it's far from where I live and parking is a nightmare, so when I saw they were getting these bikes so close to home I was super excited. I took a class as soon as they opened and I was so disappointed. The instructor was not familiar with the bikes, there was no real structure to the class and I felt like I did not get a good work out. The instructor kept saying we were there to workout and "have fun" ... sorry but I paid $20 to get a kick butt workout not to hear the instructor crack jokes. Also, at the above mentioned spin studios they have experienced cyclists and they are pretty buff. At this location the instructors are NOT ... sorry don't want to sound mean, but when I work out I want the instructor to be "fitter" and more knowledgable than me. Also, there yoga classes/instructors and not for the serious yogi. If you want to get the basics and learn from an experienced instructor do your research. North shore yoga anyone? One more thing (talking about being out of shape) .... Tatiana, oh boy what can I say? At least she would be nice/friendly ... she would have something going for her. She is rude and has an attitude .... STAY AWAY. read more

Forget this place. I've been going here since they opened. After loosing all the best instructors from Tatjiana to Emeline, Dave and Susanne, and many amazing instructors, now they cut most 7 ocklock Corepower 2 classes. Why would anyone pay such high membership fees for doing weight training, riding and core restore classes??? Done and over with this place. Gyms have more available vinyasa flow classes than a yoga place, how about that? read more

I know that CorePower yoga has the reputation for being "corporate yoga" but I have had AMAZING instructors at CorePower Yoga and this location has the best teachers/schedule in the area. You will not regret signing up for one week of free yoga- especially with Josh, Elly, Dana, Alex, or Charleen. This location also has the real ryder bikes which is great if you want to mix up your yoga routine with cardio. I am upset with recent changes on the schedule in particular the cancellation of MWF noon Ryder, Alex's 1.5 turning into a yogapilates class (she still does a great job with yogapilates but I think corepower is moving away from yoga too much), AND the cancellation of Josh's C2 at 6pm on Fridays. Not cool. Nice facilities, extremely clean showers/locker room area, and studios. Check out this location of CPY- Dana Loop really runs a great studio! read more
