I've loved the few times I've been to BC and their Lakeland events, but today really made me…read moreappreciate this place. I went to a 5:30 barre class and during the warmup began feeling very lightheaded. I hadn't eaten enough, and I just realized it. I sat down a couple time during the class (which felt especially awkward since there were only 3 people in class) because I feared I'd pass out. This happens a lot to me, but it's not fun. I felt the color flush from my cheeks. The instructor checked on me quietly to make sure I was fine, and had the front desk attendant follow up. I was eating nuts in the lounge area and the front desk girl offered me an ice pack and protein bar. I took the bar and ate it but still wasn't feeling well. She checked on me again and offered to give me a free class pass so I could come back and actually enjoy the workout. She cleaned up my mat and equipment for me and told me to feel better. As someone who's fainted at concerts, doctor's offices, fast food restaurants, and everywhere else, I know how embarrassing it can be. These ladies made me feel so comforted!!! They kept class going so I didn't feel like a distraction, made sure I was okay and ensured I'd be back to appreciate the class another day. Love this community of kind hearted women!

So I've been trying out different fitness locations and this one was close to home so I decided to…read moretry it out. I signed up for the hot yoga class at around 10am a couple Sundays ago. The location is right off the street so it's really easy to park near the parking garage and walk around to the front. When I walked in I noticed a clean lobby area with merchandise to sell. It was clean and tidy and well lit. I always love to walk into a clean lobby area especially before a fitness class. I met the person at the desk who happened to be the teacher and she had me fill out a waiver since it was my first time and she also introduced me to the studio space. She explained a little about what the various supplies were for and where the bathroom was. Now, there were only 4 other students in the class which was so great to get that personalized experience and she was a great yoga instructor. The only reason im giving it 4 stars is because when I saw "hot yoga" I thought I would be dripping with sweat. Instead, there were three space heaters along the wall that really didn't translate to hot yoga at all. But I want to give credit to the teacher who was a great instructor and I would be more than willing to come do their barre classes or other courses available! I would recommend for sure! But if you're looking for that sweaty hot yoga session, this wouldn't be the place.

I tried out my first class which was free, and there were only a few other ladies at the 6am class,…read moreso I got a lot of personal attention and guidance from the instructor, Elizabeth. The class started with a 10 minute warm up followed by 3 15-minute "blocks" of activities that focused on arms, legs, and core strength. We then finished with some light stretching and yoga poses. I was expecting more exercises using the bar given the studio name, but we only used it for the 15 minutes working on the thigh exercises. As a first time visitor with no experience in ballet, I was still able to keep up and perform the exercises. I especially appreciated how Elizabeth gave many tips on good form and which muscles to focus on, but I would've liked if she had provided modified versions of the activities (she only offered more difficult variations). Overall, the class had very balanced, holistic exercises that would be great for runners, climbers, and anyone looking for hip-opening exercises or ways to develop more well-rounded strength. Membership is $139/month ($125/month for students), and after the free first class, there is also a $49 2-week trial option. Those options include unlimited classes, but you can also get 6-class and 8-class packs for about $100-125.

I have been attending for years on and off (health issues have gotten in the way) and will always return there. Their classes are amazing. I especially loved the bar Strength classes and the Bar Restore classes. When I was consistent I felt and saw the changes in my body and loved it. I started out going 3x a week and pretty soon I was going 6x a week. It felt great to build Bar Method into my routine. It felt like "me time". My flexibility improved as well as my strength, body definition and confidence. All of the instructors have their own amazing personalities and energies they bring to the classes. Their retail is super cute and great quality. Their studio is beautiful and very comfortable. I recommend Bar Method to Everyone. Photos from my journey with Bar Method. This is perfect for people like me who like to do a lot of different workouts and switch between heated and non heated. The owner Danielle and all other instructors are so talented, kind and helpful and the classes are challenging but fun! Music is always on point too. What really keeps me coming back more than anything, though is the sense of belonging and community I feel every time I walk through the doors. Danielle and the other instructors have created an environment that naturally encourages people to connect and feel comfortable with each other and it shows! Regrettably, he mostly leads classes during the workday, so I only see him when he's filling in for other instructors. I usually have Amanda on Monday 5:30pm, Allison Tuesday & Thursday 6 am, Kathy 6am Wednesday, Leslie 5:30pm Friday, and Lindsay 7am Saturday. They're great, experienced instructors, they know very well how to mix up workouts and are really nice. The classes tend towards resisted stretching and core strengthening, rather than serious weightlifting. I feel stronger & more flexible at age 62 that I did at 40. Sometimes scheduling is tricky, I have learned that I have to stay on top of my classes to keep booked. Members can only book 10 at any time, to keep gym rats in-line. I usually get about 20 classes a month in, so figure about $9/class, can seem pricey when you look at your bill. It's worth it. There are events periodically to win prizes so that's fun. Private sessions are available.
