I have been consistently taking classes at The Bar Method Tampa since January 2014 and let me tell you, over 10 years later, I still absolutely LOVE this studio and workout! Even after all of this time I still find the workout to be challenging and super effective, and I absolutely love the instructors, the community and the studio atmosphere. There are so many different class formats to try (I am very fond of the strength class) so I never get bored, and they are all challenging in their own way. There is also so much positivity at the studio, and it makes me actually look forward to working out every day. This is my favorite workout, and I've been consistently coming for 2.5 years now! The instructors are incredible, and the positive community makes every class even more motivating. I've seen such great results--my muscles are toned, and I've gotten so much stronger and more flexible. Recently, I've pushed myself to take more Cardio and Strength classes with Mo, and while they are definitely challenging, they leave me feeling amazing every time. I found this through class pass and Im so happy I did! I took a 6:30 am class and was beyond terrified because there were so many regulars. Thankfully, the wonderful staff explained the class and showed me around the studio. It was a mix of regulars and first timers like myself. The class was 45 minutes and the most intense but rewarding class ever. 2 things to know about these classes. 1. go at your own pace. they do a good job at now trying to compete with the person next to you and do what's comfortable. 2. Be comfy. wear stretch and breathable outfits because there will be ALOT of movement. Honestly I wish they would expand and be all over Tampa because this class was beyond worth it. read more

I wanted to change up my workout routine and decided to try some bar fitness classes after hearing how much a co-worker was enjoying the classes at The Bar Method. If you are unfamiliar with bar fitness here is a quick description: "The Bar Method™ is a one-hour, total body workout. It starts with a warm-up, free-weight exercises and push-ups and moves on to intense leg and seat work at the bar, then abdominal work at the bar and on mats. Every exercise includes active stretching and is followed by additional stretching to elongate the muscles just worked." The Bar Method's new studio is opening on Boy Scout Blvd. in January 2013. In the meantime they are offering FREE!!! preview classes at their temporary location on Platt (behind Yogani). I have taken classes with Jeanette and Kimmy and I really enjoy The Bar Method. The instructors are so friendly and helpful! I was nervous at my first class because I had no clue what I was doing, but Jeanette was constantly helping me throughout the class. After taking a Saturday class with Kimmy I think I am hooked! I love the energy from the instructors and the classes are so much fun. The best part about The Bar Method is that the classes are toning my arms, legs and stomach area without creating bulky muscles. This Tampa Bar Method studio is legit my happy place. I've always valued fitness and I've tried all the fads but there is nothing like bar method technique and philosophy! I've done bar method for ten years because 1) the results are fast, and it's shows, 2) it's a great challenging rewarding workout, 3) the community is welcoming, not pretentious and happy to see you succeed. 4) the schedule is fabulous. My favorite place I have ever worked out. The instructors and the studio are the best around. The instructors care about everyone doing their own personal best while leading every client through a safe and effective workout. I have lost over 25lbs during my five years at this studio and I love every workout. The cardio, strength and flow classes offer a great variety in addition to the bar method and express classes. I have been going here for over a month and I absolutely love it here! I've tried all sort of different work outs but Bar Method has seemed to be the best fit for me. The place is clean and spacious no more than 12 people per class everyone has their own area. They have showers/ changing area and lockers for your belongings. Masks, social distancing and temperature checks are required. I highly recommend Bar Method especially if your a fan of yoga, Pilates or ballet. read more

As far as studios go it was perfect. Friendly instructor who showed me around since I was a newbie, clean shower/locker areas, inviting quiet atmosphere, and class started on time! As for the workout: this was my first bar class, so I had no idea what to expect. I am used to spinning, bootcamps, weights, I've dabbled in pilates....so in comparison this workout was not a sweaty one for me. It was, however, still challenging since the form is very specific and the instructor memorized every persons name and would call out and be very hands on when you needed adjustments and realignments. I liked that part, even though I was the one needed adjustments the whole time! I think it takes a few classes to nail the form and then you are able to work on building the sweat. I won't give up just yet, but not ready to give up my other forms of exercise at the moment. read more

I have come to several classes at the bar Method now to where I am able to give it my honest review... I began classes during their candy cane crunch promotion for the holidays. I was drawn to Bar Method because I danced for 20 years in ballet and other dance genres (btw I'm not that old started at 6!) and stopped when I moved to Tampa. I also taught dance for 4 years. I was missing dance in my life. I like how this combines fitness and dance. I participate in other methods of fitness because I compete in fitness competitions, so this is a nice supplemental workout. I love the dancer aesthetic and this work out gives you that great body. It works on elongating the muscles, so you don't look too bulky. Not to mention the nice booty it gives you!! I was looking for this shape as I prepare for my wedding as well. Since I am in shape and used to the movement it did not leave me too sore the first class. I did however, feel the burn. My butt has decreased 2 inches and the hips, which is my problem area. I am able to hit my butt and hamstrings in different areas that I can't get in the gym. I have also tried out several teachers. They are all very sweet and nice. I feel I get the best workout in mo or Lucia's class. I am almost at 20 classes, so I can finally take the harder ones! I will say they really make sure your positioned correctly. If you are new to fitness or never taken dance, don't hesitate to come in. This is for everyone. They make every level feel welcome. I have seen all ages, men, and pregnant women take this class. read more

Classes are great & challenging, facility is stunning, and the instructors truly push students while still being motivational, but don't expect great service or to be able to ever find a decent parking space prior to your class. If you are a busy professional, with a hectic schedule, I would not recommend this studio. I was running about 12 mins late to an evening class, and was not permitted entry, despite my rush across town to make it to class combined with my scavenger hunt to find parking. I understand that I was in fact late, but in my opinion it is important to be considerate of the circumstances of your clients and to accommodate (it was a 60 min class for Gods sake). Especially being a new client and not being advised to these policies, it certainly left a sour taste in my mouth and has deterred me from continuing my membership. read more

When it comes to barre fitness classes, The Bar Method is the creme of the crop! In my experience, the instructors make sure to learn your name, and they pay close attention to everyone's form throughout class. During the one-hour workout class, modifications are often suggested for those who may have injuries, as well. Unlike some other barre-type classes, the Bar Method focuses keenly on detail, and moves slowly to ensure an effective workout is achieved--needless to say, the quality of a Bar Method class is both special and appreciated. The Tampa studio is the only Bar Method Studio in Tampa Bay--and although I live in St. Petersburg, it's definitely worth the drive! The instructors are all very nice and welcoming--some even have a "spicy" attitude in class, which makes for an entertaining time! haha. The Bar Method Tampa offers Level 1 classes for beginners (or for people who just want a "basic" class--although it's still a challenge); Mixed Level classes (Bar Method pros and newbies alike); and Bar Move (specifically for those who have taken 25+ Bar Method classes). The studio, itself, is always kept very clean. There are two workout rooms--although there aren't always classes going on in both. There are plenty of lockers with keys available, restrooms, and showers--perfect for people who are heading straight to work or have plans immediately after class. At $26 a class, it's definitely on the pricey side. The more you buy at once (packages of classes), the cheaper the price per class becomes...but still, it can be expensive! I really love barre style workouts. I notice my body is toned and limber within a few months of doing these workouts. However, this studio, like other barre studios I've been too, is just too crowded. I don't enjoy a class when I have to worry about bumping into someone next to me every time I stretch. I understand they are a business and always trying to drum up new members, but I signed a 1 year contract and don't think its fair that I can't enjoy my workout because random Groupons show up for a few cheap classes with no intention of commiting. The parking situation is also terrible. I have to make sure I leave work at least 30 minutes early so I can a) drive around for 10 minutes looking for a spot or b) have time to park in the garage and walk to the studio. read more

I got a coupon for a free class and went last night to the 6:30 class with Kimmy. It was super great! Kimmy was so nice, actually everyone in there was super nice, even the other people in the class. Even as a first timer, I felt pretty comfortable. The class is set up for people at all stages of fitness, each of the movements have modifications to make it more challenging, but if you aren't there yet, it's no problem at all. It says the class is for all levels and they absolutely mean it. It's a completely different way to work out and I thought it would be hard to catch on because I am lacking in grace and have no dance background but it really wasn't. I tried the Bar Method a few months ago with a Groupon and loved it! It is really close to work so the convenience for me cannot be beat. All the instructors are great and super personable. The workout is fun and that's saying a lot coming from me. They continually switch up the routine/moves to keep the regulars engaged. I was very nervous about trying the Bar Method. Mostly because I can get really intimidated around a bunch of females. I have had the most positive experience. The instructors are soooo friendly and really want to get to know you. I worked out with a personal trainer for a year prior to coming to the Bar Method. This workout is completely different and is really challenging me. I feel it two days after in all the right places (stomach, butt, thighs, arms). Great place to get a good workout in. All the girls who work there are super friendly and remember your name. Parking can be a bit difficult since there's lots of busy restaurants in the area on weekday evenings but other than that it's an amazing community to be a part of. This is definitely my favorite place to work out. I recently moved and by chance stumbled upon it while walking my dog. I was going to the YMCA and have done lots of yoga at different places. I was attracted to the Bar method because I want to tone and improve my posture. I've never been to a friendlier place. The teachers and women who go are lots of fun and friendly. I've only been to about five classes but it's by far the best work out I've ever had. I'm already more aware of my posture and am noticing a slight difference in my body already. I've always had problems when trying to regularly workout and finding a gym that suits my body. The Bar Method is not a problem for my body and previous injuries. With the low impact exercises every time I leave the class I feel like my whole body has started to change. I'm finally finding my workout regime and consistently going every other day.
