Each class is different and I am left sweating and feeling good at the end of each one. It's definitely a great workout. All of the instructors I've tried are great but Kristen is my favorite so far. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and they have a lot of regular members. No egos or competitive spirit here, which I appreciate. There is a large parking lot but it's easy to miss your turn if you're not familiar with the area. There are cubbies to store your stuff and hair ties, Luna bars, and water provided. The intro unlimited membership is $99 per month, which is a great deal and then it goes up to $159 I believe. You also have to let them know in advance if you want to cancel; otherwise, you'll be locked in for another 3 months. Their app is super easy to use, they have clothes and socks for sale, if you need them. My one minor complaint is that there isn't a clock in the room, so I never know if they're done kicking my butt haha.

What a great first time at Bar Method!!!…read more It's the new year and I've said for YEARS that I need to either join a yoga studio or go back to a bar class. I currently go to a gym but let's face it...I am getting up there in age and I can't be squatting jumping and pivoting like the young peeps anymore. They have three different themes (my current gym) so I'm only going to the strength focused classes. I need something else additional. I knew there was a barre studio near me so site unseen, I signed up for a small package online. Hahaha! When ya know..ya know, ya know? (Ha!) Like my first time at a barre class 9 years ago, I was slightly petrified. I'll be the new girl...who's 9 ft tall...who's not flexible at all. I knew I would stick out like a purple unicorn in a zoo (omg lol my description is hilarious so let's go with it) but honestly I am so determined to do more for myself and health I just had to breathe through that fear and I'm glad I did. Walked into a BEAUTIFUL space and was greeted. The instructor and the receptionist were both nice. They showed me the ropes and into class I went. The class was so good and just what I needed. Fast, efficient and brutal. Those 2 lbs weights start to feel like 10 lbs quickly. There are lockers, locker room and tons of merchandise. Beautiful and clean and calm space!! If you are looking to try it, just close your eyes, buy the class and GO! Your muscles and mental health will thank you later!

Also this is meant to provide constructive feedback in hopes that management/area director and leadership at Lifetime read this- finally these are constant grievances of mine, others on this feed and I have been a member for more than 3 years. Additionally, I've experienced the brand new top shelf Lifetime in Cary NC...world of difference in service, equipment (of course new) , AND true spa like feel in the men's locker room...down to lockers have 'bumpers' on them so when they are shut they are quiet. 1. NOISE! Men's spa area is so loud I have to wear airbuds to escape the constant yammering of others in the steam and sauna. 2. Tired Equipment and in consistent amenities- I joined for the quality of equipment and mainly access to steam and dry sauna- Equipment is worn out...bikes, cable machines, benches, accessories for gym equipment in general need replacement. Machines sit dormant waiting for repair often...and Steam room is constantly inconsistent and temperatures in dry sauna are below recommended temps. Did I also mention how LOUD it is in the 'Quiet Area.' 3. Towel service is 1 STAR....and unacceptable. Last night and many days/nights the shelves in the locker area are bare with NO TOWELS....I literally had to walk the locker room to find a clean towel to dry off with. 4. Family Friendly. YES! It should be...but now that school/college is on summer break the gym experience is fraught with kids being kids.. from locker room to gym floors...absolute chaos... 5. Showers- The entire shower area is a mess a lot of the time, but especially last night....walk into a shower and someone left towels inside stall....No attendants cleaning up or restocking towels...counters full of water, etc. NOT A PREMIUM EXPERIENCE! I truly enjoy investing in my health and consider Lifetime a splurge in my budget....BUT I continually leave shaking my head at the level of service...quality...and inconsistency....even the 'simple things' from a staff person, like Have a good night...hope you had a nice workout. It would be nice to have persons on the floor assisting 'newbies' with workout tips or offering assistance in using the equipment.

More equipment out of commission. How long will this one take to repair? We're going on over a month on one of the other ones

I use primarily the pool, which is plentiful and several lanes and I've never had an issue finding space to swim. They do have a steam room inside, but the only bummer here is there is no Jacuzzi. But the facilities are vast and clean, and I the inside layout and design of this YMCA kind of reminds me of the Chasco in Round Rock, TX People here have always been nice and welcoming, it is aesthetically pleasing to see this building when you arrive and it is also pretty popular yet never seems too overcrowded. She was very nice, asked him several questions and assured him that on Monday, she would have the Form emailed to him. IT NEVER happened! On Monday, Jim called and left a voicemail on the Y phone. NO CALL BACK! Where is the Indianland Y's compassion, when we are worrying about illness and pending surgery that they can't acknowledge the fact that an elderly man cannot come to the Y and personally request to have his "Membership'" put on hold. Jim was a member of the cancer exercise Group until he could no longer attend. I would like someone to reach out and help us with this lack of compassion and communication. I am 84 and have vision issues and do not drive so I can't go to the Y and act on his behalf.
